I think that somewhere it was said that 4.3 and 4.4 kernels were similar. I of course wouldn't recommend flashing a 4.3 kernel to 4.4 but you could always do it yourself if you accept the risks.

You need custom kernel. But dont have any custom kernel to work with JB what you can overclock.
Enviado do meu GT-I9300
use an o/c kernel.....no I won't suggest one
Go to development and read
As far as im aware omega 23 is custom stock rom. JB ect.
to unlock overclocking you would need a a new boot.img withunlocked overclocking
that wont be out for JB roms until the source is released.
You would have to install a earlier rom if you want to use a costom boot.img with unlock overclock.

What Kernel does that ROM come with? Is it the STOCK kernel? If so, you CANNOT overclock the STOCK kernel at all and can only overclock CUSTOM Kernels that have that ability built into them.
More info from you is needed...
It seems the JB Rom from Omega doesnt have this overclocking unlocked

[Q] Kernel and Rom Compatibility

I have the HTC One AT&T (JB 4.3) and i just flashed the PAC rom(4.3). I want to flash the ElementalX kernel and there is a kernel for sense based roms and sense based jelly bean roms. I was wondering what is the difference between a Sense based rom and a Sense based Jelly Bean rom? Which one do i flash to my phone? I dont want to end up with a $600 paperweight. And also what is an AOSP based rom?
I suggest doing some reading before flashing anything

Do not flash the elementalx kernel or you may brick your device or put it in a bootloop. Those are for sense based roms only. PAC rom is an AOSP (stock Android) based rom. Try looking for kernels for AOSP roms.

Alright thanks for telling me that. I am looking for a kernel that lets me use the htc logo as a button and ElementalX is the first one i came across. Does this kernel work with my rom? If not, can you recommend a kernel that lets me use the htc logo as a button?

It's for cyannogenmod, it may work for PAC rom. Make a backup just in case

Kernels and MK2

Since there is no current custom recovery working for MK2 can I simply rename the file to update.Zip like the old days and run it? Or will I risk a soft brick like I did trying to flash a custom recovery? My stock ROM is stupid laggy so I'd really like to OC a bit and hopefully smooth things out. I found a 4.3 based kernel (Chronic) but not sure if it's set up for OEM 4.3 or only custom ROM's. TIA for any insight.

unless your running MDK you can not flash kernels to the stock ROM. This is because the kernels wont match and will cause a brick.

plenty of discussions on what you can and can't do with S4's and custom Roms/Kernels here in these forums. The only choice you will be having and its not ready yet as its in development, will be to load safestrap and ROMS that will be compatible with it. Hashcode is porting over to the 4.3/4.4 base, the version of safestrap he developed for MEJ/MI1 users a couple of months ago. He is in the testing /development stage. I would suggest reading the safestrap threads to gain some insight in preparation of this becoming a reality.

[Q] Will the new ota help make custom roms more stable?

I was just wondering if now that there is a 4.4.2 ota out for the DNA that it will make the custom roms more stable? I updated to it and kept root and it doesn't seem to be any different and I hate the stock ui. Want to go back to a custom Rom but they all seem to have some issue or other that gets old over time so I end up crack flashing everything on here every few days haha.

Yea I saw that a couple days ago. Guess I worded it wrong. Now that the droid has a stock 4.4.2 will the developers be able to take whatever parts they need from it to fix the bugs etc on custom roms? Or will the DNA having the 4.4.2 radio and kernels etc will it make the custom roms such as the m7 and m8 ports and Google editions of 4.4.2 more stable?
HTC did in fact release the 442 kernel source, so new 442 Roms will be stable and I can fix z and my beast mode kernel

4.4.2 Sense based ROMs definitely should be much better. The CM based ones probably not a big difference.
