Here is a thread dedicated to all PA Users with a lot of questions on their mind
Through this thread (and of course searching), we can actually avoid posting redundant questions at the dev thread..
also, if we can avoid (or atleast lessen) redundant questions at the dev thread, we can easily scan through updates too!
I hope this could help a lot of users, cheers!

Call recorder can be added using 3rd party apps.
Try searching for it on PlayStore
RAM Usage: There's a Memory Leak issue on all AOSP based JB ROMs for S3 International.
The effect has reduced since previous releases, but still present. Give it a try & see if you can live with it.
Most can.

For any AOSP based ROMs, no.
Samsung decided to remove the USB Mount feature in S3... for some goddamn reason.
For ICS there was the UMS Mount App, but for JB there've been mixed results.
Feel free to try it out!

No. Not unless you Wipe Data manually
(Its an option in CWM recovery.)
As long as you don't wipe, you won't lose any apps, EXCEPT the gapps.
Every time you flash a ROM, you need to flash a gapps package immediately after the ROM flash, or you won't have the PlayStore, Gmail, Now etc... the google stuffs.

I don't make the hwcomposer. Those are Samsung props

Love this rom but....
Hi,
thanks for opening this thread...
i love this rom however, i need to restore back to the stock rom for the following reasons:
while on: 2.1:
Browser started crashing after going live for 8 hrs (read from mulitple threads that it's likely a memory leak issue on CM10) (happened on stock and chrome browsers)
Keyboard will not come up when cursor in on a write field - CM 10 issue as well?
Battery drain out fast - need to reset batt stat?
One instance, my camera was not working! - Error msg: Cannot connect to camera. (need to reboot)
Gets feverish - Screen was flaming hot.. like a high fever kinda hot.
Sluggish speed while going from page to page or opening settings page. (Memory leak issue again)?
while on 2.10.1:
Browser started crashing after going live for 8 hrs (read from mulitple threads that it's likely a memory leak issue on CM10) chrome browser
Gets feverish - Screen was 'above the normal' hot.. like a mid to high fever kinda hot.
One instance after using the chrome browser which crashed on me, my phone function was not functioning! - the other party can hear me, but i can't hear the dialing tone and the other party. (a reboot did not help either) - major reason to revert.
I am using the international version of S3.
I have followed the steps (wipe cache, dalivk) and the rest of instructions to flash the rom.
Any other fellow users facing this issue?
Am looking at the AR HD rom for consideration....

Forget Memory Leaks, that's secondary to your cause.
Primary, is your choice of browser.
If you notice on the PlayStore, Chrome has been given 4 star average, & many low star ratings.
Secondly, check out the multiple threads on xda itself, on how bad Chrome's memory management is (not related to memory leak). You need a patched chrome for that (search is your friend ), else Chrome would suck the hell out of your phone.
There're so many smoother, faster, & better browser than chrome. (That's an opinion, as well as fact). Sync works for stock browser, we can make sync work in other browsers using plugins. HTML5 is more efficient in other browsers etc.
Either look for patched Chrome, or just use a different browser.
The heat issue, is not global. It just happens, & can happen to anyone any time. Let it relax after you've flashed the ROM, for some hours or days, it'll subside & never recur.
Cheers!

If its in PA, its in CM.
Camera & all other custom AOSP apps are handled by CM. Any issues in those, better check out CM discussions thread.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do I install this ROM?
A: You must be updated to the new partition layout via RUU first. If you're already rooted, you will need to install either TWRP from here or CWM Touch from here. Old versions of TWRP and CWM Touch will not work with the new partition layout. For more information regarding the RUU, look here. Make sure to do a full system wipe before flashing the ROM zip.
Q: I ran the RUU prior to flashing this ROM and now my bootloader is showing relocked? How do I fix this?
A: Use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader again.
Q: I no longer have root. How do I fix this?
A: Flash the latest SuperSU zip in recovery using this link here.
Q: What's up with the new partition layout?
A: HTC finally did something right and did away with the "media" storage on the device. Now there are roughly 12 gigs of internal memory available for apps, etc., as opposed to the old partition setup that was divided between media storage and internal storage.
Q: I want to go back to an older Sense or AOSP ROM based off the old partition setup. Can I?
A: If you're S-off you can revert back via an older RUU.
Q: How do I obtain S-off with this update?
A: The Rumrunner method worked for at least one user. Give it a try.
Q: Can I restore a back-up of an old (Sense 4 or AOSP) ROM and go back?
A: No.
Q: Can I use the Sense 5 Toolbox with this ROM?
A: Yes, but you must have the Xposed Installer installed on your device first.
Q: My signal bars don't seem to be representative of voice strength. What gives?
A: The signal bars represent data strength now, although there is a mod available to revert them to represent voice signal strength, instead.
Q: Does this ROM include the Zoe camera function?
A: As of V4, yes. Previous versions do not include Zoe.
Q: Can I disable the camera shutter sound?
A: Yes, you can do this from within the camera app.
Q: I have no data or voice service after flashing this ROM. How can I fix this?
A: Update your profile and PRL. If that doesn't work, try refreshing your service by dialing ##72786# on your phone's dialer, then choosing reset from the menu. If you have further issues with data, dial ##3282# on the phone dialer. Select "Edit mode" and enter your MSL when prompted. Select "Data Profile" and then select "Active Profile". Select "1", then hit okay. At the top of the screen, hit the menu button, then select "Commit Modifications". If this doesn't work you may need to call Sprint customer service and have them reset your phone. You can get your MSL by calling Sprint or using the MSL Reader app from the Play Store here. The app is free.
Q: Can I install a custom PRL on this ROM?
A: You can but you need to follow the steps in this post here.
Q: Some apps like the calculator are missing. What do I do?
A: See this post here. There is a flashable zip that will add in the calculator and a few other apps. You can also download this file and flash in recovery. It includes an Aroma installer so you can pick and choose what apps you wish to install.
Q: How do I get rid of the horizontal EQS (Extended Quick Settings) in the notification dropdown?
A: Tap on the date to hide and unhide the EQS. To edit EQS, long-press the date in the notification menu. This will bring up the menu from which you can edit which EQS you want to show or hide.
Q: How do I disable/enable Blinkfeed?
A: From the home screen, pinch the screen together. In the upper left-hand corner of the screen you'll see the option to enable or disable Blinkfeed. You can also edit your BlinkFeed settings by swiping the BlinkFeed screen to the right and opening the menu.
Q: How do I add panels to my home screen?
A: Pinch your home screen together. You can add panels with the "+" icon at the top of the screen where the panels are located. This is also where you can change your home screen.
Q: When I have Wi-Fi and mobile data turned on, both my Wi-Fi and data icons show in the status bar. Is this a bug?
A: It's not a bug, it's a feature. No, really, this is normal. The one which has a better signal will override the other. If you don't want to see both icons, turn one of them off.
Q: Are there any custom kernels for this ROM?
A: There was one but it has since been discontinued & is no longer available, so the answer is no.
Q: Where are my lockscreen options?
A: The lockscreen is productivity by default. You can get widget options by swiping from the right edge of the screen.
Q: My data icon goes away during phone calls. Can I still use data?
A: Yes.
Q: Is there a mod to disable long-press back to kill? Is there a mod to enable landscape Rosie on this ROM?
A: Yes to both. Please see this post here. Also note that on Sense 5, the term Rosie is no longer used. It's called Prism now.
Q: Where are the developer settings?
A: From the home screen, open up your menu and click "Settings". Then scroll down to the bottom of the menu and select "About". Then select "Software version", then "More". Tap on the Build number until the notification pops up that the developer settings have been enabled.
Q: Can I dirty flash this ROM over a previous version?
A: As always, a clean install is recommended for optimum performance. Dirty flashing a newer version of this particular ROM over an older version should generally be okay, however, if you encounter issues, you should do a clean install before reporting your issues. If you are going to dirty flash, make sure you wipe your caches before doing so.
Q: My FM Radio app doesn't work. How can I fix this?
A: Pull the FMRadioService.apk from either the RUU or the stock ROM. Replace the APK from this ROM with the one you pull from the RUU or stock ROM & reboot your phone afterwards. The file is located in /system/app. As always, make a backup prior to doing this in case you encounter issues.
Q: My proximity sensor stays on when the screen is on. How do I fix this?
A: Change the screen timeout setting from auto sleep to any other value (i.e. 1 minute, etc.).
Q: The PDF viewer app force closes when I attempt to use it to view documents. How do I fix this?
A: Use Adobe Reader instead.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this Q&A. Also, thanks to @chubbzlou, @Sinistertensai & @Captain_Throwback for this ROM.
Thank you for this. I know a lot of people need help and hopefully this will take a lot of stress off of the devs. They deserve a break from the repeated questions. Hopefully they don't overwhelm you and you need to take a break too. I really hope that captain comes back and doesn't just give up on xda. He's a great guy and explains stuff really well. I think we should all try to help out as much as possible. It shouldn't all fall back onto Fin. If you know the answer and you are 100% on it then go ahead and answer. This is a community, we should help out and relieve stress from the devs so they continue to support our devices.

Maybe kang a few links to the mods like shutter sound disabling from Captain's thread and hyperlink them.
It looks like you've answered all of the most repeated questions thus far, so it should work. If anything, also add a link for trigger84's added apps (Flashlight, Voice Recorder, Task Manager, etc) in the FAQ as well.
If anything else comes up that I can think of off-hand, I'll link it.

Not really a need for the mod since you can disable it from the camera app itself. That mod was mainly for Captain's ROM, which didn't include the option.

About
When Samsung offically release Note 8's 4.4.2, I knew that we won't be getting all new goodies from their latest flagship phones (Note 3, S5, etc),
but soon realizing they did not even bother to add Note 3 Spen air feature, I was pissed off, so disappointed.
What a journey! Days and hours of working on it, debugging, troubleshooting, decompiling/recompiling framework-res files, and re-doing all the steps over again.
Countless bootloops, countless restore, at one point when I was about to give up, I made little progres, that made me keep going...
It was around about the same time I started new thread called "PORTED APPS ~~] From S5, Note3, Tab Pro, S4, etc" a while back.
Behind idea of that thread was to test and see if any of new ported Note 3, S4, S5 apps would work on our Note 8's 4.4.2, but again we found out many of them did not work.
While I was busy getting all Note 3/S5 ported apps to work on our Note 8, @edan1979 kicked initial spen air stuff port- an early alpha stage.
and then I started to looking Note 3's S-Pen Air (with Air Command Feature) more closely, I knew that it has something to do with framework files. and then I run into @Mikyno's
Galaxy Note 10.1 thread, so I invited him over to Note 8's "PORTED APPS ~~] From S5, Note3, Tab Pro, S4, etc" thread, I like to officially thank Mikyno for being so kind and willing to help us even if he did not
have Note 8 tablet. I also like to thank @edan1979 for being persistence, and putting up initial alpha release.
Taking DN3 (Ditto Note 3) and Dr.Ketan Custom ROMV8 N3's framework files as my base working folder, I got all spen air stuff inserted back to Note 8's framework files (CivZ-FLEXNOTE-8.0_Rev1.5 as base ROM). This had been quite nightmare, considering I am not experienced developer so what I was doing was trial and error, but finally all the pieces come together without conflicting each other, and spen air stuff started to work the way it should be..

General information
I did NOT "re-invent the wheel", It is E-Team is who is actually responsible of having all the Galaxy Note 3 features working perfectly in Galaxy Note 2 devices (titooo7, slink_59, arsaw, funky_81, ravijani,
sotmax, RevengeDevTeam). Once they had working spen air stuff, rest is history; it spreaded like wild-fire and many ROMs included spen air stuff to their ROMs (even 3 year old S3 got it).
This one is based on that and DN3 (Ditto Note 3) ROM from E-team, and Dr.Ketan Custom ROMV8 Note II.

Install Instructions:
HURRRAAAAAAY! FINALLY WE HAVE FLASH-ABLE CWM ZIP FILE! SEE THE POST#2 FOR DOWNLOAD
DID YOU READ THE TITLE? IT SAYS GT-N5110, USING IT ANY OTHER NOTE 8 MODEL, YOU ARE IN RISK CRASHING OR BOOTLOOPING YOUR TABLET.
THIS IS NOT FLASHABLE ZIP FILE. REPEATING; NOT FLASHABLE ZIP, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FLASH IT TO YOUR TABLET.
You may gonna ask; "..then why are you posting this here if it is not flashable?", It is because I am excited and like share with community.
Most likely there's going to be a flashable versions near future. In addition, civato may able to integreted this port in to his ROM (cross your fingers), so this port may come as default feature of next version of CivZ-FLEXNOTE-8.0 ROM.
Now, let's talk about real instructions:
When you download Note 3's S-Pen Air (with Air Command Feature) for Note 8, and unzip it to your desktop, you should see following folders listed below. I simply copied all the stuff out of my tablet from last two days work,
I just wanted to make sure this package includes all the spen stuff nothing missed (possibly some extra stuff included that may or may not needed).
Needless to say, using Root Explorer, you can copy them back to your tablet and give right permission 0644 rights the files.
However, you canNOT copy framework files directly to your table, so you need to create a simple flashable zip file and include them into to your flashable zip and flash it as first step, and make sure your tablet reboots fine,
and then start copying remaining files back to your tablet.
-app
-framework
-etc/permission
-csc
-lib
-priv-app
-media
-VODB
Final Note:
I know this is painful manual-intensive process, and because of that easy to make mistake since you manually getting all these files into your tablet, it takes time and patient (a lot), so take it slow, make sure you got all the files in the right place with right permissions.
when copying files back to your tablet using your root explorer, it may asks you if overwrite the file(s), it is because the file(s) maybe already included, but mirror what I have on my tablet, I would say go head overwrite,
after all you have nandroid backup, don't ya? if something goes wrong, you can always restore it back and start over.
Good luck!:good:

Issues/Bugs:
I am not sure if this is a limitation or not or something missed and I am hesitant to call this a "bug", but here you go;
*
To bring up spen air window again, you need to either insert the pen to pen holder and remove it or use Air Command Shortcut from Play store (it is free).
Obviously, Note 3 has additional settings in Settings, which Note 8 does not have all that, maybe that additional spen settings from Note 3 can be back ported
to Note 8's Settings, this could resolve - all these assumption, so don't know at this point.
Anyway, this is NOT a showstopper, it does not bothers me at all.
Know Issues/Bugs:
For some reason when open Google Chrome browser, it causes soft-reboot, I can't really related this issue with this port as both are two different thing.
For now, please use Google Chrome beta.
When Reading Mode turned on and if you define to use for apps, such Google Play Books, Moon Reader, and open this apps, causes soft-reboot.
Of course, as relase indicates this is first public release, there could be some tiny issue or bugs there, but so far I am testing it for last couple days I have not run into any issue nor bugs.

Good work. Unfortunately I will have to wait for a flashable made for rev 1.6 since I don't know how to make one myself to flash the said framework files.
Looks like it's integrated into civ's Flexnote thanks civato as well!
I have a test version for the Rev1.6 rom, it is a flashable but I still need to figure some things out. "flashbar" stops responding , I need to find what app is causing this. If I do a naked installation (no samsung extra apps from aroma) there is no problem so it is some app causing it.
I hope to integrate it into the next rom update rev1.7.

That's indeed very good news, there' no way this can be as stand-alone port since it depends on moded-framework files, it is better to integrated into the ROM itself is the way to go :fingers-crossed:

Universal flash-able
Here is a flash-able cwm zip, it should work on GT-N5110/5100/5120. So it is a universal installer
I made it so that there shouldn't be any problems on other KK roms/devices
This package is also included in the next release of my KK rom rev1.7.
Don't forget to thank jazzespresso as he did most of the work making this work.
@ jazzespresso you can take this link and add it in the OP.

I am confused, what you meant by 'extract'???
I mean pulling out the pen.
In the set-up section related to s-pen you can get the Popup Note when you pull out the pen.
I think it would be nice to get the Air Command Feature instead, don't you?
You are right about not having a lot of developers for thistablet and we are all pleased and greatfull of anything that you throw our way. This is a great tablet and I just don't get why the lack of Devs. Thanks again.

I've been playing with the mod a bit and it works pretty well. Nice job so far. I'm wondering what functionality is being worked on currently?
Noticed when ejecting the S-Pen I can hover and hold the button and the air command menu will pop up. However, if I close the menu and then try to do it again it will not open until I holster the pen and eject it again. ***NM...i see this mentioned in the OP...sorry. I do see there is a rom posted that has the air command in settings. Wonder if civ will add that in v1.7.
Also, is there any way to add more apps to the pen window function?
Tnx alot for this awesome mod!
I flashed it on my tab (n5100) everything was alright except when i trying to disable flight mode! It didn't disabled! I haven't any antenna and connection!I reboot my tab and wipe, didn't work! So I don't crying because of my backup! but what did happened for my tab? Wifi and gps was normal if you thinking about my modem! anybody can help me! I wanna try again to flash this port.

There's additional spen option settings in Note 3's Settings (looking at my Note 3's Pen Detachment options), so that needs to be added to Civato's ROM's SecSettings.apk, if that could be added, it may probably work and may no longer need spen air short cut apk (3rd part app that I included)...
Maybe near future or maybe Civato can able to update SecSettings.apk and add this additional spen settings like Note 3, but no grantee...
This is, if you play enough, near identical port of Note 3 spen air...like you said, it is working perfect, no FCs or anything...

I believe you talking about Airplane Mode, right? It works perfectly fine on my Note 8, but mine is 5110, so I am afraid not much help I can give you other than if you know how to get catlog...
Another recommendation is start fresh, means wipe everything, fresh re-install the ROM and reboot, check all good, and back reboot in to recovery and flash this mod, and see if still having issue.
Is there any way to add more apps to the pen window function or is this something maybe civ will have to work on for us?

At a glance...
Fast boot..which I've come to expect from almost all slim builds.
Been awhile since I used slim..forgot about the DPI difference. Might be worth noting in the op.
No theme support..again, been awhile..lol
Super Smooth transitions, fast responsive browser
I think I would run this as a daily..just from initial look. But I must have theme support and I would also have to change the DPI..but that would be easy enough.
All in all..nice build. I'll stick around and see how it develops..but for right now I'm going to give you're aokp a swing.:good:

+1 what peterson65 said. the way i do it is via "root explorer" (the app) navigate to system change permission to r/w open up build.prop and look for "ro.sf.lcd_density=182" and just change 182 to what ever like (320 is stock), save after making the edit and reboot to see it the change sticks.

Hey, I flashed this ROM today. Very nice looking and feeling, but I'm having one major issue. When I go to unlock my phone (hit the power button to turn the screen on), the screen doesn't turn on. The button is working. The capacitive buttons under the screen light up, but the actual screen doesn't turn on. I have to hit the power button 2-5 more times.
Anyone know what is up and how to fix it?

you need to use an app to raise cpu speeds this rom doesn't have that feature built in, I'm using "setcpu". what do you mean not compatible? i just installed it fine, if you obtained it from gapps that might be why.

Cleared Store data. Same thing. Also tells me it's incompatible when I check from the desktop web Play Store.
Also, I don't seem to have root? I thought that any custom ROM would automatically have root access. What do I need to do to get Root so I can use SetCPU?
Thanks for all the help!

[Mod][Testing] Enable "Trusted Face" (face unlock) on lollipop
Recently TBO came out with a blacked out gapps, it also came with a folder called "optional", and it had files for enabling face unlock! I went ahead and gave it a shot putting them in their right olaces, rebooted, and trudted face showed up in smart lock under security, and i was able to set it up as well! I can now turn on my screen, then hold my phone up to my face and the fingerprint unlock will turn into a swipe and im in!
I went ahead and packaged the files separately in a flashable zip, available here, you may need to clear caches after flashing. This does work on touchwiz lollipop, I'm not sure about kitkat, it may also work on other lollipop roms, i dont have any devices to test it on though.

and a video demonstrating it working
As you can see, the lockscreen is there and then switches to swipe. I havent tested it with other lockscreen types but i'd assume it'd look similar.
Its kind of finnicky and so far i havent found it to be very practical, maybe you all will have better success, still pretty neat.

I went ahead and packaged the files separately in a flashable zip, available here. Here is a screenshot of the setting

I went and flashed it on my s5 running the MOAR 6.2 rom (5.0 lollipop). at first it gave me a system ui error. I flashed it again and same thing. tried it one more type but this time I remembered to wipe the caches...
other then my errors, this works like 80% of the time. nice man. hopefully you can get it to work 110%.

I didn't actually test this to be quite honest, flashfire wouldnt flash any of the gapps package so i moved the files manually and that worked, i assumed a zip doing the same thing would work fine but that seems to be incorrect, thanks for testing though, i guess i'll add it to the main post.
Also yes, this works on touchwiz, i have a G900A which is unable to even install anything other than TW. The only reason I was looking for something like this is because samsung removdd faceunlock from touchwiz.

I've found that(suprise suprise) using the improve recognition feature helps quite a bit, just use it everywhere you gk from a few different angles and stuff, i've gotten it where as long as the lightings ok it unlocks even when i'm looking down at the phone.

Flashed in SS and cleared cache, rebooted fine. I go inst Security>Smart Lock but it looks grey out. I have my lockscreen set to Swipe\No Security. Should the lockscreen be set to something different?
...... I enabled FingerPrint and it worked!!! on TMS 2.something ...

You have to have some kind of lock already set, having swipe will not work as it needs something to fall back on.

Going to try the voice later tonight if I can, did anyone test that yet?

I havent tried it, it uses google now though from what i read, i think it recognizes you saying ok google or it just uses that sample you record saying it to compare to you talking and unlocks.

I read that too, i use Google Now so setting it up should be no problem, i just have to resetup my voice profile. Just trying to finish working for today...
This doesn't seem to work for the S5 Active (rooted G870A running lollipop update OF3 courtesy @muniz_ri), neither manually installing the apk, nor flashing the zip via flashfire worked - manual install the first time made it show in the smartlock menu screen but gave the "unfortunately... stopped" message when trying to use it, and after flashing, it wasn't in the menu anymore at all, and a second try at manual install said it had installed, but it still wasn't actually there in the choices.
Did you check permissions? Sometimes ff doesn't set them correctly.

No, I didn't, only made the basic attempts to install. Also, I'm enough newbie to things Android that I wouldn't know what to check the permissions of (e.g. which components, if there are multiple components, I understand an apk is analogous to a zip file or archive), or what they should be (or should have been) set to vs. what they were....
