Hi, I just bought this tablet and it works great. My only issue is the HDMI output does not do dual display. The tablet screen goes black and I can
view the morrow image on my big TV. It is very hard to guess on the black screen tablet to operate the touch screen properly. I want to know if
anyone has confirmed using an OTG cable on this device hooking up a mouse? The owners manual says USB devices are supported, such as a
keyboard and mouse through USB port. Customer service is not sure and will not verify. I have a micro USB to bigger USB with a female 2 ended attachment to plug in a USB mouse, and did not work. Do I need to try the OTG adapter to really know? I am hoping someone can verify it does
work before I order one. I believe the owners manual is for all Tablets and may not be compatible with the OTG adapter mouse. Any help would
be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What do you mean by you can't get it to work? You don't have video, USB or Ethernet? Or is it all of the above?
USB and HDMI work for me on Vegan 5.1.1. I have yet to try ethernet, as I just got around to loading pershoot's latest kernel. I hear it works though.
I am running the Vegan-GingerEdition [4/11].

Not to insult you, I recommend keeping the screen on, or turning off the screen timeout. USB Debugging should be on as well.
I am also having problems getting the Malata Zpad dock to work for me. I am using TnT Lite v4.4.0. I am not planning on using the HDMI connector, but would like to connect to the internet through the ethernet port and would also liike to use the USB port. When I connect an ethernet cable, the green light by the port comes on and the yellow light blinks, however, I do not see how to have the gTablet use the ethernet port. Under "Wireless and newtworks". there are no options for a network connection -- there is only Wi-Fi -- for turning on and off, Wi-Fi Connections for setting up Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings and turning on and off. How do you force the gTablet to use the ethernet port? I am able to see a Thumb drive when I plug it into the USB port on the dock through the iFileManager application. However, the USB drive does not show up as "Storage" -- this item only shows "Tablet Storage" and "SD Card" but they may be the way it is supposed to work. Any help with getting the Ethernet port to work would be appreciated.
Thanks
I was just about ready to pull the trigger on purchasing a dock. This info is great.
I was wondering how do you go around to surf the internet on your big screen tv and also use an external usb mouse/keyboard?
I would need a "Micro USB Host Mode Cable" to hook the mouse/keyboard to the phone AND I also have to use a "MHL Adapter Micro USB To HDMI Converter" to see the phone in the tv and both use the one and only usb micro from the phone... Is anyone using a usb hub with usb micro to usb micro connections? Has anyone tried to use a regular usb hub to connect more than one usb device? Do you need to be rooted to do this?
I guess one option is to find a bluetooth keyboard/mouse but that seems to be expensive...
Thanks!
I know that most people us the MHL adapter for hdmi and bluetooth for keyboard and mouse.
Is there a list anywhere as far as which bluetooth mouse/keyboard works fine? I hate to go that route since I will be using the phone this way at both home and work. I dont really want to be hauling the keyboard/mouse back and forth. At least if I could connect using the usb I could use bluetooth on one place and usb in the other....
Anyway, if you can point me out to where there is a list I will appreciate it...
I still like to hear if anyone is doing this just using usb...
Anyone knows a list of proven bluetooth keyboards/mouse?
Guess not.

I bought this keyboard and mouse and it works great. You can buy it for $44 shipped (they will accept your offer).
Multi-touch is a no go, but it is still pretty slick.

Hello,
My Atrix 4G has has no touchscreen. I don't feel like buying a new digitizer and replacing it. I would like to use my Atrix as a media center only connected to my TV. Is it possible for me to set it up to run without a digitizer/touchscreen and only use with my TV and a wireless mouse/keyboard?
Thanks

Yes, it's possible. Just plug the cellphone and the keyboard / mouse to the dock (in case they work via USB dongle / not bluetooth) and it's set to work the way you want.

That's great to know. Is it possible to plug a usb mouse/keyboard directly into the body of the Atrix with a micro usb adapter and get around Android without a touchscreen?
Thanks for your help,

Unfortunately, that's not possible. The usual microUSB / female USB cables, as used with a lot of other smartphones, doesn't work with the atrix, our phone needs an external power outlet to be able to work with USB devices. You can either use the multimedia Dock or a 'custom' cable, I saw some time ago in youtube a tutorial teaching how to make a custom one, or maybe you can find it in ebay (not sure, never looked for it, to be sincere).

the cable you are talking about is called udb otg ( on the go), switch the phone's usb port into host mode.. only drawback is that atrix can't supply power to the usb, you must use an external power source for the devicr attached

I managed to use my atrix with the lapdock for around a month while I sourced a new digitizer and it worked great. I would recommend that you find a work and play kit second hand as I often use the webtop for watching on-demand tv and someone is working on a full resolution xbmc port that would work great with the remote. You might also be able to use the usb host ports to mount a fat32 hd as a media drive. The atrix can work really well without its digitizer.

I too am interested in this as I have an Atrix 4G with a broken screen. I was thinking about buying a device like the Roku or the MK802. I guess I could just get the Motorola Entertainment Center from Amazon.
Is there a ROM that would be best for the purpose of using the Atrix as a TV only device.
I posted a tutorial in general for using hdmi and tablet mode with the backlight for the digitizer off. This might give you ideas for using the hdmi port with or without your favorite hdmi enabled Moto dock.

Dear Fellow XDA-Developers,
I have spent the last 3 days researching all I can on the Galaxy Note 2, awaiting its final arrival on Verizon. I've seen great videos and posts on its external connectivity (props to NZtechfreak for his work).
I've also seen successful efforts to connect it to a HDMI television directly, no need for the docking station. Very cool. :victory:
What I've *not* been able to discover is whether anyone has successfully been able to hook a Galaxy Note 2 to an external touchscreen and have it both display the video output and serve as an input source for navigation?
Has anyone tried and succeeded here? Any tips or leads?

It really depends on how the input is connected. Most of the touch screens I have seen connect to the pc via generic mouse drivers. If that is the case, you would need the media dock to connect to the touchscreen via usb and hdmi. (The mhl adapter does have a usb port, but it only provides power).

Thanks SFBPro! Could you forego the media dock if you purchased an externally powered USB hub? Are there any options other than the media dock?
And to anyone else, any examples of specific hardware successfully working here? Many thanks!

How do you plan on getting the video on the screen using the hub? Are you thinking about plugging in a MHL into the hub? If so, I don't think that will work.
Did you find a solution? I want to Mount a external screen in my car and connect my Note 2.

The mhl that came with my Samsung Infuse worked with CM rom, the micro USB to supply power to adaptor and HDMI had to be hooked up in a certain order for it to work. I don't remember which needs to be first. Also not certain it will work with a broken display, and I am wondering how you will get input to phone. Does the screen still register touches?
