Which version of Android do you have? Newer Android OS don't mount as a drive any more, they are accessible as MTP/PTP devices.

It won't show up as a drive letter in 4.4. You need to access it via MTP (which is supported by XP SP2). Plug your phone into the computer via USB, make sure that you choose MTP from the prompt on the phone (it will ask PTP or MTP), and it should be available as a device, but not a drive letter.
If all else fails, a search for WIndows XP MTP on google will have more tips.
Well,the LCD is broken, so I can't change that. Guess I'll do the best buy data transfer

Hi,
I can't seem to mount the phone to transfer files via USB.
I'm using a Mac and previously while using Paranoid Android JB Rom, the computer detected the phone and I just use Android File Transfer program. Now, both MTP and UTP can't work.
Any brothers out there that have a workaround or found one. I already searched all the S3 forums on XDA. the UMS SIII apk doesn't work. I'm now currently using DLI1.

Just to be certain install the actual java jdk. Search for it on Google and it should be the first result. Once that is installed run casual twice. Yes, I said twice. I couldn't get casual to run by just running it once. If I tried to run it a second time it would pop up immediately (without going into task manager and trying to kill any processes after running it the first time). Not sure why I had to do that but it ended up working just fine and I'm on Windows 8 x64.
What version to download?

Do a search here on the forums. There is a link to oracle for windows 8 64bit and 32 bit. Works like a charm.
Keep reading and searching. You will be proud of yourself.

Same here, although I did have a few problems after updating Kies a while back.
They were solved by running it in Administrator mode just once; that seemed to "free things up" thereafter.
Might be worth a try (right-click on Kies icon and chose "run as administrator"), bit of a long shot though.
Ill try it and let u know if it works

Kies problem = Kies;
Solution = uninstall and never install again.

AirDroid, Kies Air. Both you launch the app, and you start the web browser on your computer. Then you need to enter the IP the app gives you (usually it's 192.168.x.xxx:8080, depending on your router)
