I have an Arnova 10 G2. On the back it says 101c (first 10 in big size letters, followed by 1c in small size letters).
Could anyone please let me know if this is a Gen 8 or Gen 9 device.
Hey diablo009!
Why don't you have look at their website:
http://arnovatech.com/
Especially the contact data:
http://arnovatech.com/corporate/contact_us.html?country=ua&lang=en
If i got it right Arnova is the budget series of Archos.
In fact these devices look like Archos tablets but i guess they have different electronics inside (Asian low cost SoC's based on Cortex-A8).
EDIT:
I just had a short look into the firmware update file for Arnova 10 G2 and it seems they are using a RK29xx SoC on the mainboard.
These are low-budget ARM SoC's built by a chinese manufacturer:
http://www.rock-chips.com/index.php?do=prodnew
Unfortunately these chips are not very well documented.
There's another forum where you might find some help:
http://www.slatedroid.com/
There are G1 and G2 devices... AFAIK this has nothing in common with the G8 or G9 series distributed by Archos.
EDIT:
Around the globe you may find even devices like these mentioned here:

Thanks scholbert. I should've made some research before buying this. But one good thing is that my core intention was as a 10" book reader. So that part is good.
I went in their site a few times, but couldn't really make out. I'll try looking more tonight.
Edit: One positive thing it that there was this app called "arctools" that I could use to flash the rooted version of stock rom. Atleast something, better than being stuck with nothing.
pretty sure arnova is Gen 8 based, but I think it may run gingerbread instead of froyo. I don't tthink the arnova series for Gen 9 has been released.

Please read my post... these devices use different hardware inside.
We should be careful not to confuse people again and mix everything up.
Trust me, i looked into the firmware update file (update.img) from their website.
Completely different low level-structure and content compared to the gen8/9 AOS files.

It was not my intent to imply that the hardware was the same, merely to point out that this was released during the gen 8 releases and not gen 9. I would refer the original poster here for more info on their device .

Hello,
I'm relatively new to Android, I've been through 2 devices in the past 2 year (Samsung Galaxy Europa and ZTE Crescent) and the development for my Crescent has started to die (Due to it being armv6 and Qualcomm not releasing what we need to progress ROMs) so I was wondering what the best phone (under £150) with good development would be?
It needs to be armv7 and have a decent size screen (My Crescent is HDPI 3.5" with a 480x800 resolution and it a nice size so that's a guideline)
Any ideas? Is the Ascend G300 an armv7 device because I hear nothing but good things about it.
Thanks
Yep i'm looking for the same, and i found dis::
www zopomobileshop * com
The phone are cheapy and they can be flashed. You can root them at the buying...
i think the sony ericsson xperia mini pro is a good choice
it has an armv7 1ghz cpu but the screen size is only 3"
it costs here in germany only 110€ (as far as i know)

Don't be afraid to hit the thanks button. It doesn't bite. lol
Sorry for my bad englisch
I was wondering, with the news of a new ubuntu based phone... Will a rom based on that be available for the titan (eternity)?
As I really like the progress Ubuntu is making with Steam and the rumours about Office 2013.
The link about ubuntu phones.
Just being curious!
I just watched the video. It looks really promising.
It is totally imposible , it will be for Nexus series III and IV, and mybe for samy they will cook something S2/3 Note I/II, the chipset they will use is totally diferent, it's like asking for android on Titan

Hmm... bummer.
But thanks for clearing that out
Well, it looks like Samsung finally managed to do what it has been trying to do for a painfully long time — the Korean manufacturer has made its first Tizen-powered phone official. Called the Samsung Z, the phone features a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display of 1280×720 resolution and is powered a quad-core 2.3GHz processor (most like a Snapdragon 800), and runs on version 2.2.1 of Tizen. The Z comes with a new look that should come as a breath of fresh air for those who have gotten bored of Samsung’s design language on Android devices (let’s face it, who hasn’t?), though the overall design seems to be along the same lines as the company’s previous efforts.
The Samsung Z also sports a fingerprint and heart rate sensor and comes with features such as Download Booster and Ultra Power Saving Mode, things that debuted on the Galaxy S5. The hardware specs include 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera with the usual camera modes that we’ve seen on Samsung’s Android phones (and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera), 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot, connectivity features including LTE-A, NFC and an IR sensor, and a 2,600 mAh battery. It’s basically a mix of the previous three Galaxy S flagships, and for a first device with a new OS, doesn’t really have anything impressive or different to offer.

Hmm..
Well, the specs are good, no doubt in that. But, when it comes down to software, never believe in samsung, coz they ain't good in that field. After bada, I ain't trying anything that comes out from the software kitchen of samsung. Although, the ability to run android apps is a relief.

By the look of it, it looks like they took a lot of "design inspiration" from the Sony Xperia Series.

Absolute no go for me.
The Z will launch in Russia in Q3 and expand to other markets later on, and will also be showcased at Samsung’s Tizen developer conference on June 3rd. However, as Samsung has said in the past, don’t expect to see any Tizen phone in the US and some European markets,..

Sorry, wrong thread...
Hello, I have the US Cellular model. Is this something that could happen in the future? Could I attempt to build a port myself?
IMHO Tizen test device TM2 is some of these Note 4 Models...
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82542019&postcount=619
Hottest Candidate to use IMHO SM-N910C...
Because:
A
Samsung Exynos 5433
B
Screen Resolution match:
Code:
2560 x 1440 Pixel
C
I remember in sboot.bin the magic text string:
Code:
THOR
Close to Odin...
These Note 4 are hot enough to run latest Tizen 6...
Means NOT Tizen 6 is hot...
