So, I've been trying to flash a kitkat ROM, and every single time, it fails. I've tried at least 2 different ROMs, including the new beanstalk and ose ROM. Both fail. I noticed that you have to flash with either cwm recovery or the latest version of twrp. Fails with both every time. Wtf!!! I don't understand! What an I going wrong??? I've read and read and read and can't figure it out

*facepalm* You aren't on the modded version of TWRP are you Don't worry I had the same issue initially. Go to the CM11 thread and search for the modified version of TWRP. Also latest touch CWM should work.

Here's another recovery option. I haven't tried it yet, but it is based off the latest cwm so it should work for 4.4 based ROMs. It's getting good reviews so far.

Thanks in advance.

Ah ok. From the 1-2 times I have used it it seemed fairly straight forward. I just know for things like CM10 rom it says install cwmod first then flash the rom. Is it possible to flash cm10 from twrp?

Yes it is. Just use goomanager to update it TWRP to the latest. Also I guess you could just use ROM manager to install CWM, but as stated TWRP seems to be the best for the note

Yep, you can flash it with TWRP, just make sure you are running the latest version.

Awesome! Thanks you gents
Could use some help.
I flashed my Fascinate to Helly Bean 04.05.2013 nightly according to the directions in section 4 of this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
Everything worked fine until i rebooted after the first ROM flash and tried to install gAPPS.
CWM shows an error mounting cache, and when though it appears as though gAPPS (gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip) install correctly, when i reboot the phone there's no trace of any of the Google Apps.
I've flashed the ROM several times and everytime - same issue.
What am I doing wrong?
You flash gapps in the same session of the ROM for example
"Wipe data>FlashRom>flashgapps>reboot"

Well of course that would work. Having rooted and ROM'd numerous devices before, I was surprised to see that the instructions called for rebooting the ROM before loading gApps; following the standard process worked well.
Thanks for the help.

You do not have to yell (caps) and that guide is not up to date, which includes a recovery that still corrupts the cache partition and will not allow flashing of gapps if done in that order. believe me I tried all last night

Hey Guys,
I have a Bell Galaxy note I7I7M with T-Mobile Modem Using on Mobilicity Network In Canada. At present, I am using Padawan V8 4.0.4 rom. Works perfectly fine but would like to try some other Custom Jelly Bean Roms. My previous attempts to flash went in vain with issues such as not able to pick up signal (on SlimBean) and not able to Call and recieve phone calls even with signals ( on Jedi Rom). I guess, probably will be a radio issue. Some one please guide me how to Flash and update to custom Jelly bean Roms.
Thanks a lot.

Did not work?
Right here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147095
I'm on 4.2.2 and had to change kernel in order to have call audio. Flappjaxxx kernel is another one you could try, but it didn't work well for me.
I'm using Feb 29 build of the kernel which in the forum for my current ROM had the most feedback.
Basically just download the kernel, put it on root of sd card and boot into recovery. Wipe cache and then install zip from sd and choose kernel. When done reboot. Always make a backup just in case
This boot will take longer than usual. Don't worry. When booted, it will say something like "upgrading android" or something
After that, enjoy.
Someone please correct me if I am wrong at any point! I am fairly certain that ^ those steps are correct, but just in case
And lastly, I hope this doesn't become a "best kernel thread" try a few out if you aren't sure and see which one works best for you. I just recommend 4aces because it worked for me
Carry on all

Go download team win recovery project 2.4.4 I believe it is. The status 7 error is a out of date recovery. You can flash it via Odin or through your current recovery

^ that
Flash kernel after ROM. Most ROMs come with a kernel in the zip, so it would overwrite any that you install. I got status 7 and decided to try a different ROM because I was too lazy to update recovery

Ok. I have a problem here. phone reboots when i touch turn on usb connection, any idea? want to flash chris kernel
That is very common for JB ROMs actually. Had that on my old phone as well... Trying to remember what I did Try a different kernel and see if that works any. I don't think it happens to me anymore but it did before.
I'm gonna spend some time searching and see what that yields. I know you can boot into recovery and enable USB transfer that way. It's supposed to be faster because it bypasses a few firmware components. But either way, that is a nuisance.
Okay, try going Settings->Storage->(Menu soft key)->USB options
From here you should be able to enable mass storage, or if that reboots on you like before, try ticking MTP. Maybe try checking developer options and see if USB debugging is enabled or not. Unfortunately I don't know which to have ticked and which ones not
Anyone? Cuz right now all of mine are unchecked (and that doesn't sound right)

Hi Guys!
Since the jflte family of devices is almost exactly the same I thought I would post my I9505 (jflte) Rom here for you as well!
It has been tested by jfltetmo and jfltecan users and is confirmed working!
To install it, just download the I9505 rom and then flash the appropriate device specific package I created.
Download the rom from this thread
Download the appropriate device specific package
Install CWM or TWRP recovery.
Boot into recovery, install ROM, then install the device specific package then install gapps.
Wipe Data/Factory Reset if coming from another Rom.
Reboot and enjoy!
Your device name might show up as I9505. If you are bothered by it you can edit the file /system/build.prop in the rom .zip package before you flash it.
This does not affect the way the rom functions in any way.
Please let me know if you have successfully installed and running this rom on any of the US variants of the S4. I don't own the device!

Yes that usually pops on a loki issue if im not mistaken. So your steps would be to flash the rom, flash your preferred kernel(i personally like the chronic kernel) then flash your gapps package.

Download the new version and flash it in fastboot.
Another few questions. One, from what I understand the highest version of cwm specifically for my droid DNA does not go up to 6.0.4.4, but rather 6.0.3.1. Is there a way to get this working or do I have to wait for a newer version. Also, how would I update my cwm to this version; what do I do to update it IF I get that 6.0.4.4 update. One more thing, you said I need to flash root after cyanogen mod 11. How do I do this?

The 4.4 threads should have a link to a compatible version of CWM. Flash it in fastboot just as you did with the prior version. As far as superuser, you shouldn't need to flash it in recovery since its already rooted and has superuser. I believe flashing superuser was required for the new Sense 5 update until developers released prerooted ROMs.
