[Q] SlimSaber Questions - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've recently updated from SlimSaber 4.3.2 to 4.4.2 (currently on 20140104).
But after searching around in the options there are somethings that seem to be missing:
-LockScreen Auto Rotation
-Kill all apps button
I'm using Nova Launcher.
Are those missing atm on have i just been looking in the wrong place?
Thanks

Ok, cool, I thought i was just looking in the wrong places
Got so used to the first one I almost thought about going back to 4.3 when i saw it was missing
I'm a creature of habits lol

You can try GravityBox for KitKat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2554049

At least the kill all is taken care of, still waiting on news on lockscreen rotation (comes really handy when i have the phone on the car mount and its idle)

[Q] volume control to move cursor?

Hello,
I've recently installed the CM9 ROM (p4wifi v20) and so far its looking great! I understand that you can you use the volume keys to move the cursor when typing, in fact I think that I had this working once, but now I cannot find out how you set this up and get it working - any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks,
Ackoman
The rom is aokp. Not cm9.
It is in rom control, under settings
oops. I meant the keyboard settings.

Ooops, yes you're right - I should have said aokp.
I still cannot find the settings you refer to I'm afraid - I've looked under rom control, and also in the keyboard settings (under language and input) but cannot see anything which refers to using the volume control to move the cursor. I'm probably just being dim. Would you mind sending a screenshot please?
Thanks,
Ackoman
go to inputs... look at all the keyboards... click on the settings icon to the right of the android keyboard.
the cursor setting will be in the middle. If you are not using the stock keyboard this may be why it is not working. Probably only works for it.

I'm totally confused by this, all I see is Text Correction, General, and Other options. I am using the default android keyboard.

Bizarre - I wonder whether something that I have restored to my tab after flashing is interfering with it. I'm going to try reflashing with the p4wifi v20 rom again and see what happens.
Cheers,
Ackoman
Hey Ackoman I seem to be unable to find the setting too. So its just not you.

Hey, well its good to know that I am not alone! The weird thing is, for a short while I definitely had this working, immediately after flashing with the p4wifi rom, I've clearly done something since that has knackered it.
I did flip back to the CM9 ICS kang rom using rom manager a couple of times, but don't see why that should screw up anything in the aokp installation.
OK, perhaps I'm getting somewhere now - just put a fresh installation of aokp on my tab, and lo and behold I've now got the option to have the volume control move the cursor when typing!
I reckon something I restored or installed on my tab was screwing it up - will systematically retrace my steps and see when it stops working again, and will beam back the results here.
Thanks,
Ackoman

Right, it didn't take me long to get it to stop working - I installed gapps.zip, and straight away that screwed it! So, next question is, should I not install gapps? Or perhaps I'm using the wrong version? I'm using the version that I downloaded when I put the CM9 ICS rom on.
If I shouldn't use gapps, how do I get market on my tab?

OK, I'm a tw*t - just re read the installation instructions for aokp, and it specifically says do not use any other copy of gapps. So, I guess that solves that.

I love this feature, but I do not use the default keyboard. Would be nice if there was an app that enabled this feature for all keyboards.

[MOD]AOSP enabled navbar - AOSP ROMS and GE only

To be clear, these will only work for AOSP ROMs and the GoogleEdition ROM.
Threw these together for myself. Love having the navbar but it is a pain to add every nightly I flash. So I threw this together. I made two versions. One simply adds the navbar and disables the capacitive menu and back buttons (with them active the navbar becomes nearly impossible to use) and triggers the navbar. Fear not, this mod triggers the in app menu overflow access and for that matter you could then create a menu on the navbar. I couldn't automate disabling the backlight so that will still need to be disabled via settings>advanced>sensors. I also made a version that changes the device DPI from 480 to 360 (my preferred DPI).
Download - AOSP_navbar_enabled.v3.zip
Base version above now allows OTA survival. Will reapply itself after each nightly.
Download - AOSP_navbar_enable_360dpi.zip
Download - AOSP_remove_NAVBAR.v3.zip
Here is the method to inject changed into the build.prop that I used (found here)
On the GoogleEdition ROM it does not support disabling the capacitive button backlights natively so the app from the following thread is needed
[APP] Google Edition ROMs - Disable Button Lights
Thanks a million times for this! I have been missing these! I am running beans rom and after installing getting system UI has stopped, also using nova, any information on getting this going would be great, thanks again!

A fixed navbar taking up space precious on a small display seems Nexus- like. Stop this abomination NOW! Instant S4 mini (comparable display space usable for apps).

Of course you are welcome to your opinion!! And in part I agree. That is why I run at 360dpi, that way it has less of an impact on the display. I know it is not for everyone, but choice is the spice of life.

Thanks for this. Is it possible to only activate the in app menu overflow without adding the nav bar? It's so much more intuitive to have that, rather than guessing whether or not the menu button will do anything within each app (the whole reason google got rid of the menu button in the first place).
I wish I knew how!! To be frank, when you enable the navbar and disable the capacitive buttons it activates the menu overflow within apps all by itself. Must be part of the navbar framework. But let me look into it. I MIGHT have an idea but it would be ROM specific, not a general mod like this. What ROM are you running or would like such a feature for?

I will try for the GE port, it should be an easy mod. These don't work on stock touchwiz as it doesn't have the needed framework for the navbar. For some reason Samsung gutted the navbar from their source

Oh it works very nice, but there are some cases (like tapatalk) where the menu would instead be within the navbar so this is not a capacitive menu replacement

Awesome job man. Now I just need to be able to set the physical home button to menu for short press and go full screen (no navigation lights) on long press. Think that is possible?

[Q] Lockscreen toggle KitKat

Do you guys know of any (notification) toggle to quickly disable/enable lockscreen? In the notification panel Android unfortunately doesn't seem to have such a toggle build in. With the previous build, Jelly Bean, some widgets from the Play Store seemed to work, but not anymore.
And perhaps someone knows a good app/mod to put back shortcuts on the lockscreen itself as well?
Thanks in advance!
Dennis
Anyone?
Really no one else is having the same needs for a lockscreen toggle in KitKat?

Hi. It's not that I'm bothered by the icons. It's just seems to come with a whole lot of other mods, as far as I can see. Or am I missing something?
Nothing personal, but I wonder why I seem to be one of the few who is looking for such a toggle . It seems such an obvious need? Haha.

Thanks very much, but what does it exactly do? Regarding the lockscreen, the developer says a few things:
- Lockscreen targets
- Lockscreen tweaks, regarding theming.
- Lockscreen rotation
It does not say anything about a "toggle" to switch it easily on or off. It also needs a framework to be installed, and a lot of other tweaks/mods come with the module, that I'm not sure I would like...Plus, I read in that forum, that the lockscreen features are not working.
Anyway, it's 2014, there's not any solution anymore to just have a widget or something for it? Like with previous android versions?

Gravitybox will allow you to add/organize/customize the quicksettings tiles (like the lidroid from the other post), including a lockscreen toggle. There's lots of other tweaks too, but you don't need to use them if don't want. And yes, you'll need to install xposed framework, but it's easy, there's and app for it (xposed installer). If you're interested, search for xposed or gravitybox threads.
But you just want a homescreen widget/toggle, right? Google "no lock widget".

Thanks. I just generally just don't like installing all kinds of extras, even if I don't use them. A policy that kept my hardware running very smooth, where others suffer from sluggishness.
I am more looking for a widget then, yes. The one you mentioned unfortunately doesn't seem to work... I'll keep looking .

Sound Search (Google Ears) widget unable to add

I cannot solve this problem. The Sound Search widget doesn't appear in the widgets list in 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 (using love4k21's build, or rogersb11's build). I tried installed CM 10.1.3, and sure enough, I can add it no problem there. Other people seem to be able to add it with those builds. No idea why I'm unable to. I think actually the last time I was able to add it was when I was using an official CM build (10.2). Once I switched to non-official builds, it disappeared. Any ideas?

I know the widget you are talking about. Why it is missing, I have no clue. Pressing the search button (on the bottom right) should have the same functionality. You could also just add a voice search shortcut instead of the widget.
If you really really want it without installing a newer rom, use the google now launcher. By default it is on the home screen.

damnit google ^^ well i found a workaround because i really don't want to use the stock navigation, i now use LMT and fortunally the custom-rom i use offer a navigation switch quick panel, so if i really need to go inside the settings, i can switch it on, navigate with the stock one and can still use LMT again outside.
