Why TWRP doesnt recognize my external 64gb ext SanDisk class 10 microSDcard
HTC One MAX
Twrp has said they likely will never officially support exfat because of licensing. See www.teamw.in/exfat
Im a bit fuzzy on who has inserted exfat support into what unofficial twrp builds so not sure where our builds fall...

Really? Is it formatted exfat or fat32? I was having problems with my 64G in all my phones and pc formatted exfat or fat32 so gave up on it assuming the card was busted.

Hi there guys
I have been having a problem with 3 sandisk 64gb micro sd cards. I always got them replaced but it is getting frustrating now. Obviously they are formatted in exfat format.
The problem starts when I copy data of over 30 gb. Once i copy the data n the sd is remounted or the phone is restarted i always get the message "damaged sd card" but when i read the card on pc through an adapter it shows the contents ok. So i want to know if anyone can help me so that I may not need to return the card this time around...

Try to format it first in the phone, then start loading data on it.

I also tried it buddy but none of the methods seem to work .. i also tried formatting it then copying data through sd card reader as well as the phone itself... does it have to do anything with some file system issue or kernel related issue... im on stock kernel rooted...

also had the same problem. i formatted the card to fat32 with 32xxx sectors with "GUIFORMAT" app for windows, the it works ok.
then after fat conversion, you can try to format the card to exfat using any app (not the windows one) search google, then it might work, didnt try myself as fat32 works great, and i can use it with the script that makes the card the phone memory, so now i got 64gb instead of 11.6gb of phone storage

where formatted?
how much fully card with data?
witch rom, kernel?
I have the class 10 64Gb Sandisk sd card too with no problems.
Card has about 55Gb info on it and I didn't format the card. Just put it into the phone. Recognised instantly and haven't looked back.
I have a 2nd SGSIII too with a 64gb class 6 sandisk sd card. Same applies but with a little less data on it.

yep. Works in both exFAT and FAT32. I initially formatted to fat32 but tested as exfat and it worked fine.
Just thought you might like to know i just put a 128gb Sandisk MicroSd in the slot and it worked straight out of the packaging with no special formatting
FAT32 or exFAT?

My Sandisk 32gb class 10 seems to be insufficient. I'm gonna try a 64gb and maybe partition it to give more space on cm13?

I am using a 64gb and have heard 128gb work too. I use a fat 32 partition and link2sd and use external sd as main storage.
I too am using 64GB -- formatted to FAT32. If I recall, my card was pre-formatted with 2 partitions which the phone will not recognise. If you format it to NTFS, TWRP might not recognise it in recovery mode. Windows will not format such a large drive as FAT32, so you will have to use another tool -- e.g. MiniTool.
The caveat is avoid using a (cheap) USB card reader. I've corrupted the card before when transferring too much data to the card. Newer readers built into your laptop or using the USB cable directly to the phone seem okay.

^^ Same as those guys, I also am using a 64gb card. No issues! Though surprisingly it made my Xperia bug out, lol
Just be sure you get something beyond first gen (40,MBS) cards. I have had 0 issues with anything up to 64gb I now have two 128gb cards that both work but get corrupted and require a format every time I attempt to transfer 10 + Gigs of information at a time.

I'm about to get a Redmi Note 3 Pro (ordered from Top One on Aliexpress, will arrive next week) and I'm wondering which MicroSD to buy. I saw that one, it has 22.000 reviews, 4.9 Stars average, I was wondering if the 128GB version would work with the Redmi Note 3 Pro.

FAT32 (never had NTFS)
has anyone tried with an exfat formatted card? I need mine on exfat, since I carry movies bigger than 4GB on it. Can anyone try if it works?
I'm pretty sure I had exfat but it asked me to format the card.

Afaik all MicroSD (also SDHC and SDXC) are supported up to 128GB. Maybe also above that, but thats what official supported.

I have accessed the SD Card with a SD Card reader in my windows computer. Then I deleted the exiting partition. Then I created a new one using FAT32. After this my Redmi 3 pro could access the sd card.
Hope this help you.

Exfat can work only on custom ROM along with custom kernel which has a built in support for this.'
Otherwise you will have to live with FAT32 on 64GB or above (just like I am)

Format the micro SD card to far32 if you are using stock kernel. Otherwise it will work fine on custom kernel.

sadly miui only supports fat32. tried exfat and it doesn't recognize the format.
use cm13 rom and custom kernel will get ntfs and exfat support!

You have tested a ext2/3/4 filesystem and it worked in the device w/MIUI ? I doubt xfs Or f2fs would work....
I might try ext3 later and report back
