the Big Problem HTC Droid Dna - HTC Droid DNA

Hello everyone
I have S-OFF HTC Droid DNA everything go well Normally available.
After that, I have a big problem with HTC Droid Dna can not boot stuck on HTC LOGO.
I can not do anything with it cannot flash official rom.
Is there any way I can fix it.
Please help
thank you

There is a section called Droid DNA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting, that would be a good place to post a question about a device your having trouble with. But regardless of posting in the wrong section you haven't provided nearly enough information for anyone to help you.
As you describe the state of the device you should have no problem flashing an RUU via fastboot and fully restoring the phone to a stock like condition (still s-off). My point here is that your going to need to explain exactly what you did to get here so someone can provide you with the right steps to fix your issue.

I have custom recovery. but the custom recovery Error "Os cannot Install" and Request Root .
and the stock rom can be used normally after s-off and Wipe data trying to install custom rom but failed.
thank you for help

Format your memory in your custom recovery and that should get u back to be able to flash a ROM or ruu to stock.

I trying flash RUU.exe 3.06 , 1.15 but fail

recovery error :crying::crying:

Problem
1.can not boot
2.cannot return to stock rom
3.can not root
please Help

What error are you getting when you try to install a custom rom?
What ROM are you trying to install?
Have you tried re-downloading that ROM?
Did you make sure to wipe cache, dalvik, data, and system?
Root would normally be installed with the custom ROM, if not you can always install SuperSU after you install the ROM, which TWRP normally offers to install for you, or via a flashable zip (http://download.chainfire.eu/370/SuperSU/)
If you have adb tools installed you can also sideload the ROM. (adb sideload ROM-NAME.zip)
Your best bet would be to follow this guild to return to 100% stock. Hope this helps, just make sure to read through the guild carefully.

(sorry if i've posted this wrong)
Try to factory reset , wipe cache and install Rom again .
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
The first time a newly flashed Rom boots up it can take a few minutes to start. Factory reset/wipe and restart the phone. Set it down and walk away for 5 minutes minimum. It can be hard to do with the anticipation but sometimes it just needs to be left alone till its loaded everything
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA
Don't panic you probably just need to install the kernel boot.img via fastboot.
Turge has provided some very nice instructions in his thread, here
Just make sure to use the boot.img from the rom your trying to install rather than the one in his tut. (it's in the romname.zip file)
Didn't you make a back up before flashing a custom rom? If you did, just try to restore it first.
You need more info about your setup: cdma/gsm, s-on/off, HTC unlocked/locked, hboot version, recovery, etc.
If u are hboot 1.50/HTC unlocked have a look at the guide in my signature.

Good point. U NEVER flash anything without a good backup. I leave the last 2 backups on my ad card and delete the oldest everytime I flash a Rom. That way if one is bad hopefully the other one isn't.

possible solution
let start of by do you know how to get into recovery? did you follow instructions from site when trying to root? did you follow and understand all steps?
do you have a recovery software loaded like 4xt or clock work mod? do you remember doing a backup? if you can get into recovery then you can fix your phone and its far from bricked.
Is it still broken? have you fixed it and not updated the forum?

Evo 3d won't boot past HTC screen

Hello,
I've been all over google and this site for the last two days trying to find a way to get my Evo 3d work! I tried searching the forum and unfortunately i kept getting server errors So i figured I would make a new thread in the hopes of figuring this out!
What happened:
I went through the rooting process, and I went to flash a ROM on to the phone and it would not load pass the HTC screen. I had a ROM on there of the stock version of the Sprint Evo 3d, unfortunately it wasn't the proper version and it did not allow 4G and such. So i tried to place another ROM on to the SD Card and flash it over, and for some dumb reason, I deleted the version of the Stock Rom that atleast enabled me to get the phone to turn all the way on. All I'm able now is to boot up to recovery, but I can't figure out what ROM to download to place on the phone to get me back to square one!!!
Help please!!

Hi jerseybizzle, I can certainly try to help you but you have to help me first.
1. Are you doing a factory reset and wiping dalvik cache before flashing?
2. What hboot version do you have?
3. Is your phone s-on or s-off?
4. Which rom did you try to flash that wouldn't boot?

1. Yes
2. 1.50
3. My phone says S-on but I have super user privileges and the guide I followed said I have the phone rooted whether or not it said S-Off or S-On.
4. I believe it was the ViperMod

If it was an ics Rom and you are having bootloops, it is most likely because you are s-on. I recommend getting s-off. The wire trick is easy to do, but you need to be careful.

Did you flash the rom through fastboot? If you just booted into your recovery and attempted to flash the ICS version of that rom coming from GB it won't work since you still have S-ON and that doesn't let you flash certain things like kernels. You can still flash roms but you have to take a couple extra steps or achieve S-OFF.
To get your phone working again...
If you were just coming from a stock rooted rom before attempting to flash a new rom, simply download a stock rooted rom from the dev section, put it on your SD card, boot into recovery, wipe and reflash. Your phone should then boot up again.

I'm guessing it was the ics version of vipermod, and since you're s-on your boot image didn't flash. So you're trying to boot an ics rom with a gingerbread kernel.
If you want to use an ics rom, you have a few choices. My favorite... Put a recovery image in the folder on your computer that has fastboot in it. Put the phone in fastboot mode and type in the command window, fastboot boot recovery.img, make sure that you name the recovery image on your comp. to "recovery.img". It should boot to recovery and you can flash away.
Something that's easier is to use 4ext recovery smart flash. I'm sure it works but I've never used it.
If you want to get back to your stock rom unrooted rom you could run an ruu.
Also, take coals advice and s-off that phone, you won't have nearly as many issues once you s-off, and you can use one of the splash screens in my Sig

Here's an idea, get flash image GUI, its free here at xda, google it. Then use it to flash the kernel from the stock rom that you have running and reboot. This should fix your WiFi. Let me know if I'm not being clear enough.

So, it sounds like wifi turns on just fine, you just get the error when attempting to connect to a network?
Have you tried resetting your router and rebooting your phone? Maybe remove that network from your saved preferences and resign in.

Inside the rom that you flashed, just choose that rom with flash image GUI and it'll pull the kernel out for you

If the app that was suggested to didn't do the trick, hit the stickies in the dev section on how to flash a rom with hboot 1.5 S-ON. I recommend the fastboot method, however, if you're so inclined, you can also go the route of getting S-OFF.
Most likely, some problems occurred when you tried to flash that ROM before and broke your wifi. So, if I were you, I'd grab a ROM (that viper ics should be fine if you still got it) and flash it through fastboot using a guide in the dev section. Be sure to read and understand the guide before attempting it.
The guide would be something like this...
1. Install the appropriate drivers and place a recovery on your PC.
2. Boot into your boot loader, select fast boot, and connect your device to your PC via USB.
3. Open a command prompt on your computer, switch to the directory containing drivers/recovery image
4. Type fastboot boot thenameofyourrecovery.img
5. Install the rom as you otherwise normally would using your phone, wiping data, clearing caches, installing zip.
NOTE: The above is not a guide, just an illustration of the guide you're looking for in the dev section.
Flashing a rom by this method allows you to flash roms with non stock kernels, so you can pretty much flash any rom made for your phone. This is the method I have used since day 1 and have never experienced any problems. You may also want to look into getting S-OFF, but I can't say much about that because I haven't done it myself (being content flashing through fastboot).
Hope this helps.

Thanks. I ended up finally finding a ROM (CM) that would load on to the phone. The Wi-Fi is working now!
I just need to find a fix for the camera, neither the regular nor 3D camera will function now.

Which cm rom exactly? I thought the camera works with all the cm roms. It sounds like you still have kernel issues, and until you figure out how to flash a kernel or boot image, you'll always have these types of issues, bootloop, broken WiFi/camera. I know that the instructions that flonker gave you are intimidating but after you've done it once you'll see how simple it is.
One limitation of HTC dev unlocking is that you can't write to the boot partition from recovery, the kernel resides in the boot partition. You can, however, write to boot from within the android system. That's why flash image GUI is so handy for people with s-on and HTC dev unlocked. Just open the app, find the rom you'd like to flash and select it, the GUI will extract the kernel from the rom zip and flash it. Then you just boot into recovery and flash the same rom that you selected with the GUI. It'll flash everything but the boot image, but that's ok because you already flashed the kernel with flash image GUI. Make sure you do a factory reset and wipe the dalvik cache.
When I was s-on I always chose fastbooting to recovery, when you do that it actually loads the recovery onto the boot partition and gives you permission to write to boot, so its like flashing should be. Just wipe, flash, enjoy.
Hope this helps.

have a moment to help out a user that is completely stuck?

i am stuck. i tried to flash super charged hatka 320 dpi and i have gone in the wrong direction because my dna doesnt boot up properly. after super hatka gets past the boot i am able to get to the lock screen and once i swipe to unlock, it says unfortunately settings have stopped working. my launcher doesnt work. i cant operate the phone what so ever except for looking at the settings. when i get a text message i can reply, but thats pretty much it. i have experience in rooting and flashing the htc g2, gs2, and the gnexus. but this htc dna is something different and i am having extreme difficulties. i can go into much more detail if someone has the moment to help me out
Maybe if you try to re-install the Rom will all be ok....it might solve the problem...did you do a proper wipe before flashing...and did you create a nandroid backup if so restore it in Recovery and then flash the Rom again...if. not first do a proper wipe and then reflash the Rom....I use viperdna so I don't know if you have after the install to flash any kernel, fix or something???check it first and then procceed with the other things..hope to helped yiu

i may have had a bad download. i was using the 320 dpi senseless rom, my phone was unusable like i had stated, but i managed to get it running.
here is what i did to fix it:
in the settings, i linked my dna with my google account, and as i expected, i received play store notifications about updates, so i chose the notification and it took me to a fully functioning play store.
i downloaded apex launcher and it installed properly. pressed the home button and it automatically set itself as the default launcher and bam! my dna was beginning to function.
downloaded xda app and went to the super charged thread and downloaded the slim version of the rom instead of the senseless rom.
flashed the boot.img, flashed the modules, then flashed the slim rom and i didnt get any errors or failed messages this time.
i dont want to point fingers and i would never do that here on a fantastic community, but the senseless rom was giving me issues, maybe it just needs some more work. anyways phone is functioning like normal now, everything works and the battery is outstanding so far.
thank you to those for the advice. i was getting ready to call it quits and send this thing back to amazon wireless.

I have tried a number of times to re-install the rom and have tried to use other roms but all of them seem to end the same way.
I have used:
BAMF FOREVER 1.1
BAMF MECHA ICS
AIRBORNE GOUI

few more
My phone is a HTC Thunderbolt and when I attempted to root the phone it had a hboot version of 1.0.8 and had a stock version of ICS installed.
Sadly I have a phone without a working rom and I had forgot to make a backup so if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Preferably I would like to keep the phone rooted but its not necessary.
Thank You

I have tried clearing everything but still doesn't seem to work.
One thing I forgot to mention is sometimes if I wait long enough on the blank screen It boots me back into the 4ext recovery, don't know if that makes much of a difference.
The way I have been installing the rom
Load ROM onto the SD
Do a "wipe data/factory reset"
Go into install sd and choose the Rom which is in a .zip file
I think this is how its supposed to be done, but not sure.

The way I have been installing the rom
Load ROM onto the SD
Do a "wipe data/factory reset"
Go into install sd and choose the Rom which is in a .zip file
I think this is how its supposed to be done, but not sure.

You need to wipe cache and dalvik cache too.

I have done that.
Problem is you were coming from the ICS OTA.
The All In One Tool alone will not get you rooted after taking the OTA.
In order to fully root and s-off after having the OTA loaded, you would need to follow the steps outlined HERE

Correct Thanks I fixed the link in my first post.
I am using the thread and so far its working, just one last question. Do I have to install and use 4ext, or can I just use clockwork mod?

You can use whatever Recovery you want, Clockwork Mod is old and not really suggested to use, especially with newer roms.
I miss the RA recovery I had on my first bolt. I use the ext4 recovery now. Glad Santod was able to help you out!!

Request for unlock bootloader and root guide

I'm not necessarily new to rooting I've been doing it for a year or so on my old phone. But after upgrading I decided not to root for a while. Now I think I'm ready to root and get a custom rom on. I'm not used to the whole unlocking bootloader and then a different way of rooting from my old phone. Any sort of guide with links would be greatly appreciated!

Get some moonshine.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using Tapatalk 4
just thought i'd add something
you need s-off because verizon or htc stopped allowing the dna to unlock its bootloader from their htcdev site
once s-off you can flash any rom, kernel or recovery
you do not need to unlock your bootloader
the link i found was dead so here is cwm touch recovery that i use http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=17561816589933340240
I think every rom available is already rooted so thats taken care of
i just read some of the guides that are up and they are outdated, so ask anythting you need here and ill help
OK sorry about that I meant s-off. So I do moonshine flash cwm and then do I have to install super user?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
nope all the roms are pre rooted with SU or superSU
but in case im wrong and you find a rom without root you can flash SU or superSU from recovery
hit "thanks" plx
simplified steps are:
1. s-off
2. flash recovery through adb
3. put the rom or rom and kernel you want on the phone and flash it in the recovery
thats it. its a bit simpler than most phones i think, especially samsungs as i just found out.
Step 1. S-off via Moonshine.
Step 2. Flash a recovery. I think the absolute easiest way is using this toolkit. This toolkit couldn't get any easier to use.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219175
Step 3. Flash whatever ROM you choose. I personally love ViperDNA.
Does moonshining wipe your data?
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Nope... but sometimes the moonshine process will have problems that are typically resolved by doing a factory wipe, in order to sucessfully do the process.
OK now I'm coming from a Samsung device so it was a lot harder than this. My question is if I have to wipe data before flashing a rom or a recovery? I would also like to know what the adb is.

once you have the recovery installed you can choose "factory reset/wipe data" from the cwm menu along with wipe cache, also dalvik cache in the advanced menu in cwm, i do this before i flash any rom
ADB is how you flash a recovery and some kernels
but you need this driver installed http://www.htc.com/www/software/htc-sync-manager/?section=Requirement
you also need that driver installed for moonshine to work but after you install it you need to remove the htc sync manager part of it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
here is a small adb and fastboot setup
once installed you can put the cwm recovery in the same folder as adb open a cmd window and from the directory that has adb and the cwm you type
"adb reboot bootloader" no quotes
then
"fastboot flash boot clockwork-touch,img"
now you have recovery
I realize these instructions assume some levels of knowledge so if you need more details ask
I have done all you said and now have a rooted dna! the only problem is every time I select reboot from the cwm it just reboots to the recovery and not the actual phone? Any Idea of whats going on here?
ah it sounds like you wiped your rom before you transferred a new one to your phone
did you do a backup of your stock rom?
this recovery isnt perfect i dont think you can mount the sd card in it to transfer files
if you have no backup and no rom package on your phone and you wiped your stock installed rom then ive actually never come into this situation
im sure it can be resolved easily, let me test some stuff on my phone ill get back to you in a bit.
in the meantime does anyone else have any suggestion for this?
maybe team win recovery can mount sd?

I did not make a backup and I don't have any roms on the phone. I'm not exactly sure of how all this happened and I would really like to get everything worked out.
ok you can install the TWRP recovery and sideload the rom
you can google the info about how to do it, i dont know much about sideload
here is the TWRP recovery, flash it the same way as the other
http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/dlx/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.0.0-dlx.img
info about sideloading http://teamw.in/ADBSideload
have you decided on a rom yet? id recommend a sense5 like digital dream or BAMF by joelz, thats what ive ran for a while now
if you want to get this done in a more timely manner you can chat me on skype its bigvtec916

It seems as if I can sideload from cwm as well. And how could I install the twrp recovery if I cant boot into the desktop
I would like to either install a sense 5 rom like you suggested or cyanogen mod. Im not so sure how to flash the twrp recovery if im only in the cwm recovery.
you can hold power and vol down, once it reboots after about 10 sec you let go of power and keep holding vol down till you see the bootloader screen, you can flash the recovery using adb like you did to get cwm on
ok never mind I figured out how to get the twrp flashed. now I will try to sideload
I would like to skype but I didnt build my pc with a camcorder. I can still do sound though, tell me if your okay with that. Ok now when I try to sideload it tells me that it cant find the device? not sure what that is.
i was just going to skype for chatting with text so its not like post and wait and refresh, takes forever
in the recovery there is a setting you activate to sideload you are using that right?
