I got a ASUS Nexus 7 from ASUS in Feb of 2013. Now I am working with it and keep getting asked if I have the 2013 or 2013 Nexus 7. My question is simple and probably obvious, how do I tell which model I have? I have looked on line and they all look much the same, and have yet to find a way to tell them apart......
Help...

There is a thread for this, but anyway the best phone i can recommend you to buy is the galaxy nexus due to the infinite support. optimus G or the nitro hd are also good options. do not buy the new htc's since they are being replaced every 1 month. Xperia products like the xperia t seem to be very good devices if you can get them but once again best phone for cm 10 is the galaxy nexus

Thanks, Nexus it is
Since sony seem to release a flagship each 6 months.. what is the support expiration for the z2? can we expect getting at least 2 years support?
Depends on what you mean by support? I'd hope we'll see support for new Android versions for at least another 18 months, but I suppose it depends if Google move to x64 for Android M .

at least 18 month..... heh... wishful thinking.
Z got just 12 moths of android updates.
Z2 will get "L", no doubt about it. Don't think we will see "M" on our Z2 officially (even if the hardware allows).
Xperia Z launched March 2013 latest official update (4.4.2) May 2014 and Xperia blog has it that 4.4.4 is on its way.
18 months official support
ends in mid october 2015 as noted by sony customer support
-may be stretched if the device is popular

I will drink a beer (or something stronger) if it happens
Hello friends,
I am planning on purchasing a Nexus 9 and from my understanding you can identify if the model is a bad one (light bleeds, bad buttons). I was wondering if anyone knows the starting serial number of the Nexus 9 which does not have any of these issues.
Thanking you.
There is no guarantee, but models starting with "HT5" (meaning built in 2015) are probably recent enough to have all the kinks worked out. (HT51 = Jan, HT52 = Feb, etc.)
Sent from my Nexus 9
Hey guys!
I used to be pretty involved with XDA as I own Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and Pixel XL. I work for an electronics distributor and we have sold Sony tablets for years. This tablet came from e-bay or Amazon before we could order through the Sony channel. It came with a Bluetooth keyboard with Korean? symbols on it.
That's the background:
So the tablet is currently running 5.02 and checking for software updates gives me nothing.
Build number: 28.0.A.8.251
Kernel has a date of Aug. 19, 2015
My question is whether this is a special build and why I can't seem to update it. Not that familiar with Sony's software for updates but when checking this build it seemed to show as a demo version and didn't have anything for a more recent update file.
Can anyone give me any background? I'm not necessarily looking to root it, I just want to update it to the current software (Android M?).
Thanks for any help or tips!
Maybe the bootloader is unlocked. Check the service menu.
With unlocked bootloader there are no OTA updates any more.
You can flash any suitable ROM with Flashtool. This software comes with XperiFirm to download the ROMs.
If it is really a demo unit (they run different ROM-versions though) I would return the tablet.

I've run into the same problem. Moreover, I have found that when I type in my tablet's IMEI at http://support.sonymobile.com/gb/software/ the page responds with 'No information available'
Seems to be a problem at Sony.
Please, contact the Sony Mobile support so that they can fix it. The more requests they receive, the faster they will fix it
Hi. Is firmware files of Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro leaked? I'm guessing review kits already at press. And they should able to get firmware files from CDN or etc.
If there is firmware files it will be awesome for digging it or porting ROM to other devices.
Not yet! No one has units yet....probably not until late August or September.

What can we expect from the new update?
Yeah i think the rumors can be true about that but right now we cannot say anything.
The Pixel 6 is running Android 12, which is live in AOSP. Driver binaries are not yet available but I suspect that will change with the next monthly update.
