Hello guys, I have an issue with my HTC Amaze 4G, the issue is that it cannot detect my SIM Card, it shows NO IMEI, when I try to call *#06# I get a blank IMEI window. If I reboot the phone into bootloader and then back on, it will ask me to enter my SIM Card security code and proceed. After I enter my SIM Card security code, I get a full signal on the top bar and after 30 - 45 seconds the phone restarts and we go from scratch, no IMEI, it cannot detect the SIM Card. When I get to this point, it shows the grey signal bars and a white X above them. If I try to turn on "Air Plane Mode" and back off that doesn't work, I can't even turn it on, in settings it shows "ON" but I still have the grey signal bars and the white X above them. At this point, I restart the phone, and when we come back to the lockscreen, it shows "Air Plane Mode" on. Any ideeas? Should I buy a new SIM reader ? The phone is not rooted or with a custom rom..
Thanks !
Ps. I don't have a warranty on the phone, it expired..

You've got a corrupt partition, one of the potential downsides of s-off. There have been other posts with users having similar problems. Do a search to see how they resolved it. If worse comes to worse you may have to flash a factory ruu.

Thank you for your answer, but that doesn't help me. As i said above, THE PHONE IS NOT ROOTED OR WITH A CUSTOM ROM. It's on original rom with the Bootloader locked and S-ON.
Call T-Mobile, its an error on their end.

I read today that there may be a need to upgrade tmobile SIM cards to conform with or utilize the New towers they acquired when they took over metro?

Hi all. Just after a little help if possible.
Bought a 2nd hand S2 and was told it was locked to Virgin, before I bought it I made sure I saw the buyer make a call with the Virgin SIM on the phone.
I downgraded from ICS to 2.3.5, rooted the phone and used unlock tool from Market to unlock the phone. Tried several SIM cards in the phone, but I cannot connect to any mobile networks. In Phone Status, it shows phone number, signal strength etc but when I try and make a call is shows ‘Not Registered on Network’
I went out and bought a PAYG Virgin SIM card as I thought the unlock may not have worked correctly and exact same thing happens. Put the Virgin SIM in my unlocked HTC Desire and works fine. So, its deffo the phone that has the problem. I checked the IMEI number online to see if it had been blocked but it looks ok.
Any thoughts??
Thanks in advance.
Hi
A few things to check/try -
Does the IMEI number displayed by typing *#06# into the dialer match the IMEI number on the back of the phone (Under the battery)?
When you put a sim card in (other than Virgin) do you get a message from the phone asking for a network unlock code?
Does the network name of the Sim card appear in the status bar?
Which app did you use to unlock the phone? I've used Galaxy_S unlocker several times without any issue. (I install a ginger bread rom first, then insecure kernel, then root, then run Galaxy_S Unlock)

Check ur imei no dial *#06#
verify that imei no with the one beneath ur battery
if it same then try flashing the stock rom again and root it and try unlocking again using the unlock soft from play store
Yes, the IMEI number matches so no problem there. Have been onto several free IMEI check sites to see if the IMEI number is blocked and it shows as not being blocked. How reliable these sites are I do not know...
No, no unlock message comes on. However, I locked the phone again when rooted and put the Virgin SIM in, which it should be locked to so should work, and I got a SIM unlock message? So, when the phone is locked, it does ask for unlock code, when unlocked using the app, lock code doesn't appear.
I do not get the name of the network in the status bar. When I look at the phones status, it does show a signal strength, and I do sometimes get signal bars but when I try and use the phone I get 'Not registered on network'
I used Galaxy_S app and did everything that you have done!
Have tried flashing stock rom, rooting and unlocking and nothing seems to work.
Worried that I may have bought a nice, expensive media player...
If your IMEI matches up with the one under the battery then I really don't know why you can't get a signal. Maybe someone else on here will give you some better advise. It sounds to me like you did everything right. The obvious thing would be if the phone is on the blacklist (stolen phone, or reported as stolen, 2 different things!). I wasn't aware of any sites that can tell you if the phone is reported as stolen so can't comment on how accurate they are.
Hope you get it sorted, it's the best phone out there at the moment so would be a shame if you can't make calls on it.
have you tried with diferent modem? or diferent rom?? or both at the same time?
for the modem try KI3 or KI4, seems to work pretty fine for almost everyone..
have you tried
hi have you tried going to
settings>wireless and network>mobile network>network operators
and checking the settings in there are set to autoselect network.
if this does'nt work +1 for all posts below.
hope it does.
also not sure but i think sim lock is set in security settings and the pasword for unlocking is stored on the sim that password was put on. anyone feel free to correct if this statement is wrong. many thanks
My DNA just has the Voice service after connecting to WiFi over night. The first thing I need to do after leaving home is flight mode on and off to get the phone back on the carrier's network data. It is annoying, Am I the only one here?

I get the same problem. I have also experienced "preparing sim card" messaged several times. I hope the OTA update helps, I have not had the chance to install it as I am currently studying abroad.

Have you tried in gsm only mode? I have same problem and preparing SIM card issue doesn't come up in 2g mode. I was reading this kind of issue is produced most likely by a faulty 3g antenna.

I experience this problem frequently too. Not sure if there really is a fix for it. Toggling between airplane mode works for some people, reseating the SIM card, gently erasing the back of the sim card, applying 2 layers of tape to the sim card tray to keep the card seated appropriately, exchanging for a new SIM, putting phone into airplane phone and removing sim than replacing sim card, remove sim card than boot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik, etc.. yes I've tried most of these but to no avail. The OTA update may have helped a little I am not sure. Most believe it is a hardware issue that really can't be permanently fixed. If anything else is found let us know. Such an annoying problem that totally ruins this amazing phone.
There's different issues being discussed here. It sounds like you're having the issue where you need to toggle airplane or network sometimes when switching between networks or from WiFi to mobile data.
It's not device specific, there's some decent articles on it and in the early days we thought it was a Verizon issue. But it's actually a Sprint problem too I learned on accident when I was trolling their forums.
When the network is activated, on a device with a SIM card on Verizons network, the preparing SIM notification is actually describing a process very similar to *228 back in the olden days before LTE that was done when first activating a device on the CDMA network. The LTE network is different in that everytime it connects to the network is does that SIM activation process.
I know on my networks here, there's a changeover in one place it happens about 50 percent of the time.
If that's what is happening to you and toggling airplane fixes it, I think it's an LTE/network symptom and not due to a faulty device.
However I have a device I'm about to warranty with a hardware failure I'm thinking. It gets data great but absolutely no voice ever, never had an incoming call or anything. Or made an outgoing call in the month I've had it. It doesn't bother me I didn't buy this thing to talk on, but I'm donating the device so I'm going to have it fixed.
Anyway, from all the OP has posted so far, I'm not feeling like it's a hardware or device issue, however as more info develops that opinion may evolve.

U r the man Charlie. I am having an identical issue as op. And based on occurrences relevant to location it seems that this is only an issue when under 4g service-atleast for me-. Toggling airplane mode reactivates SIM as u said and restores full functionality. However, I have noticed the time needed to pass for said issue to reoccur is significantly shorter unless a full restart is preformed. If fastboot is enabled the issue persists. My question is this; if this is a network issue -which I'm sure it is at least in part- what software wise -if anything- could be going on a full restart fixes?

I'm a gsm user and I'm having the issue in a non 4g lte network. I have preparing SIM card every couple of minutes. If I toggle to gsm only mode everything is perfect, not even a single issue. Looking to the logcat, when the error comes up, it shows a message about ICCID number doesn't match stored one and then invalid radio technology. Is this software or hardware? I'm really confused. I've already tried everything from software side, kernels, radios, roms, RUU to stock.

I bought a used ATT atrix from cowboom and verified that the meid was clean from ATT. I bought and activated a net10 sim and unlimited card. When I install the sim into the phone I get emergency call only unless I turn airplane mode on and reboot. Or hold volume down when booting and select NO BP Then I can get in. However, If i turn the radios on, I get a red circle with a line through it in the signal strength bars. The sim works in an unlocked iphone. I registered with motoblur thinking that it may have been necessary but it didnt help. Any ideas?
Additionally, a message comes up saying network with limited service found, do you want to initiate a network search
Im returning the phone pretty sure its defective
it's not an international phone, that is... goto development section, unlock your bl, root it, flash a custom recovery, install an international rom. :victory:
I got this Nokia phone
since I got it been saying sim card error.
Now I know it was locked
I put in other sims and it never game me the option that it had detected a sim card and was gonna unlock
then I tried a friend's sim it detected I was able to put the code in and get the phone unlocked.
But since then no matter which sim i put in the phone does not detect the sim
Now I can't send the phone back as I'm out of the US I bought from ebay. I will see if I can file a complain via Paypal but don't want to do that unless I contact the person.
Can anyone let me know if they have ever encountered this and how to get it fixed?
thanks
G
I just got a 920 I kept getting a sim card error and,the phone was supposed to be unlocked. Now reseting phone by powering, off and on sometimes fixes it and,my,carrier shows up. But it always drops it.
My phone has the black update fyi
I read and,I changed automatic network selection to manual and selected my carrier. So far so good. With the notification bar hiding I never see if it connects lte, I only ever see 3g but at least the signal never drops...it,would drop and not reconnect once every half hour..

Hi, I recently just activated the Note 3 to my account and it seems i keep getting random SIM Card errors, Firstly i get an error saying that "The device didnt respond in time" Sim Locked" or "No Sim" restart my phone. I have no idea whats going on with it, I even had to turn on my wifi just for the phone to activate, the weird thing about it is that it shows the "No Sim" in the top right corner of the phone, but it still gives me a 3G signal, Just wondering if there is a fix to this, because I am paying for premium data and cannot even use it. I have been to the sprint store and swapped my Sim Card out 4 times in 2 days. Is their a fix to this? can u open the sim tray and fix it the thing is that my phone actually recognizes the sim and everything i can see the imei and the iccid clearly when its powered on then its give the errors and iccid goes away but imei and 3g connection is fine. I need some help PLEASE!!
Have you tried a factory reset?

Factory reset did not work at all in this matter, does anyone know how to take apart the sim card tray, or anything my phone recognizes the sim once it is powered on, because i see the numbers of the iccid match and imei match. Once i get the error message the iccid goes to "Unknown", There has to be some way to fix this.
Looks like a problem with either the SIM card or the SIM card reader. Take it back to a Sprint store?
