[Q] Rooted now cant see Pictures htc dna - HTC Droid DNA

Hello all I rooted again recently after getting the 3 XX update from verizon.
and now that im rooted I cant get gallery to see any images in any folder except what is now taken with camera app.
any ideas.
restarted phone, cleared cache, restarted app, shut down phone and turned back on, tried different camera apps, different gallery apps....... all with same result that it will not see any of my pictures or videos I took before rooting or see any images in any other folder.
so im lost as to what to do to fix it.
Rom is OTA plus rooted is all.... nothing else was changed.
Im still a newbie but I know enough and i cant figure it out.
cheers all.

If I remember correctly, the files are stored in a different place in 4.2,2 then in 4.1.2. Do some searching to find the folder, and move your pictures there

ive tried moving folders and files..... but the issue is that the pics i have are in the same folder as the 1 pic i took once rooted..... so they are in the same folder. its like the gallery wont see anything else but what is taken from the camera now.
just stuck as to why its doing that..... had pics be seen in other folders before. i even have another folder on the root of the phone, well emulated sd card.... called Pics and it does not see those either.
noticed though that the camera does see the pics i took before but when i open the gallery to view those pics they are not there.
even booted into hboot and bootloader then restarted and still nothing.

oh and also i was already on 4.22 stock from verizon..... had some pics and a vid i took.... then rooted and now can't see pics and vid i took before I rooted.

found an answer i think
Ok think i figure out the issue.
the pictures i had on my device were not in a folder that the gallery app recognizes by default, so it was a naming issue and location issue. I moved the old pics taken with my camera before rooting to the folder labeled "Camera" and now the gallery an see all my images.
Before pics were in the folder named Camera....and now they are in a folder named 100MEDIA... very strange but happy it all ok now.
hope my issue helps someone sort out a problem if they ever have that issue like i did.
cheers all

[Q] Grabbing picture files off of a RAZR with a dead screen?

I have a RAZR here with a broken screen that sounds like it's working fine aside from that. I received the replacement RAZR from Verizon but it looks like the pics taken from the camera app aren't stored in the SD card. I've got the phone hooked up to my PC but all that comes up are two removable drives that just say I need to insert a disk.
Is there any way to get the pictures out of there or am I out of luck?
EDIT: Apparently ES File Explorer was the problem, My Files can find the pictures fine in the DCIM folder for the SD card. The problem is that none of the pictures taken on the first RAZR are there, just everything prior to 11/26/11 when the phone was first activated. Does anyone have any idea what could have happened to the pictures taken between 11/27/11 and now? It seems odd that they wouldn't be there while the rest of the pictures are.
Buy a cheap hdmi cable and try connecting it to your TV...
Goodluck
I never thought of that but it worked perfectly. Turns out the phone was in charge only mode which was why I couldn't get any of the pictures off of there.
Thank you very much for the help!

If you took those pics using some 3rd party camera app, they might be someplace else..
Or maybe a corrupted sdcard? Try looking in LOST.DIR folder
I'm assuming you have an ext-sd as well, try pulling that out and popping it in your computer. I've noticed that some file explorers don't recognize the ext-sd, but your camera may have put them there.
I can't remember exactly what it's called, but there is a pc java app that will display your phones screen on your pc screen.
I'm at work right now, but can look for it around lunchtime.

[Q] Whatsapp images not showing up in gallery

Hi I have recently found out that most of my new downloaded images from apps such as Whatsapp and Kik are not working now. Camera images show up fine in the gallery, and the pics are on my SD card as i checked through PC and Astro File manager where i can view them. I have restarted my phone numerous times and let everything settle but it did not work as I have seen it worked for similar problems for other people. SO Does anyone else have any ideas on how to get the pictures in my gallery? When i try to set one of the pictures as my wallpaper it doesnt work, presumably because the phone gallery doesnt think its there :/ Thanks if anyone can help
Try deleting all thumbnails using file manager n just reboot ...it might help

I fixed this by myself. I simply went into file manager, moved everything out for the folder it was in, then moved it back in and it now shows up all the WhatsApp pictures i couldn't find before. So, if any moderator wants to close the thread or anything they can ;D

[Q] My photos don't show up in the camara app

After flashing a new rom, my camara stop showing pictures in the actual camara app. I can still take pictures but I have to use a file explorer to actually see the pictures that were taken. Anyone have any idea how to fix this.
Also a related problem. I cannot play music using the music app either. I have to use my file explorer to see my music files.
anyone else having the issue?
You probably want to post a message in the thread of whatever rom it is you flashed.. as it seems like a rom-specific problem. If you have your music/pictures saving to an sd card it's probably an issue with where your gallery/music is looking for pictures/songs. Contact the developer.
Different datestamp on pics
What i noticed is that some of my pictures got datestamped wrong and therefore i *thought* they arent showing up.
In reality they really WERE showing up just completely different date then what i'd expect them to.
I noticed the problem on both "stock with goodies" rom and "mean rom".. The first two roms I installed had no issues. I noticed the problem following installing 1.52 stock with goodies so I am not sure that its a rom specific problem

ICS update wiped all my photos

Sure surprised me. The update left everything else intact. The Gallery app doesn't even have my Picasa photos either. I can choose Picasa and it shows the folders, but every album has no content in it.
Update: after a refresh a couple of times the gallery app finally agreed I had albums and photos in Picasa. Still no sign of any photo that was previously on my phone. Even a photo I took in the morning right before I updated the phone has disappeared.
Anyone else notice this?
Are you sure they are missing from the sd card? An OTA update never touches the sd card.
Use a root explorer and see if your photo's are still on your sd card, if you can see them then either your sd card needs to be formated or it could be bad.

Thanks. Found the photos using a file explorer. Can use the file explorer to open the photos using the Gallery app. Apparently they hard coded a change in the Gallery app to where it looks for photos though, because I can see an photo I've take since the update, but there appears to be no way to tell the Gallery App to find and display the prior photos right where they were originally stored on my SD card.
Anyone have an "easy" way to fix this?
Comments withdrawn
Once the File Explorer proved the original photos were still on board, I simply plugged the phone into my PC and moved them to where the camera/gallery app are currently saving/finding photos. Took a moment to thin out and sort them as well. Could have done all this with the File Explorer, but much easier on the large screen of my PC.

[Q] HELP! Lost every .jpg on my phone!!

Today I got my new GS4, and was going to make sure all my stuff was backed up from my GS2 before I turned on my new phone. I went into "accounts" from contacts and checked the box for "auto-sync app data" (this is the only thing I did, period, since I was viewing my photos only about an hour earlier) and then connected my phone to the PC so I could back up all my photos. When I did, all the photos "loaded" but I could not actually view them, merely their file name. So I unmounted from the PC and went into gallery on my phone, only to find every single photo, both internal and on sd was replaced with a grey box and I cant view them. I have since reconnected to my PC, and now all those folders are completely empty. If I go into gallery on my phone, it still shows my folder names with all these grey photos, but when I use a file explorer to try and view them, nothing, 0 files just like on the PC. I have NO IDEA how this could have happen, and the only link I have to something going wrong was the auto-sync box I checked. I had about 6 months of photos I didn't back up, and some VERY important and irreplaceable pics I can't get back. I was hoping someone my have an idea as to what happen/how to recover my pics. I have gone through multiple folders, and literally every single .jpg file is gone! This includes all pics taken using the camera, any screenshots I had, all photos saved from texts and websites! EVERYTHING!!!! PLEASE HELP ME GET MY MEMORIES BACK!!!!!

Define "loaded". The sdcard mounts like a hard drive, then you copy them off. Not sure how you screw that up.

When I say loaded, I mean all the file names showed up in the folder, but I could not open the picture to view it. So it looked like they were there, but the file extension didn't show as .jpg and when trying to view them it said something about how microsoft viewer was unable to display image. I never actually attempted to do the copy from phone to pc, so there was not an issue with a transfer, but something that happen prior to even connecting to the pc as far as I can tell. After disconnecting and reconnecting, however, the files don't even show as there, just says 0 files in folder when I open it. Also, its not just sd card, but literally every single file that had a .jpg extension is completely gone....this includes internal and sd, and everything from wallpapers, camera shots, pics from texts and web, everything!
You could try Disk Digger to recover the photos.
Thx for the disk digger recommendation! It was super tedious going thru over 9,000 pics of thumbnails n all kinds of bs, but I was able to get back most of my pics from the internal memory! Now just need to do it with the sd card.

Remove your external SD card and try to access the images through a card reader. Some Sammy devices have had issues playing nice with SD cards, and the resulting behavior can be similar to what you have experienced. Technical details can be found around d the web.
