i see aosp development is soaring with this phone. I keep finding myself switching back and forth from LG roms to 4.4 aosp. My huge dealbreaker are SOD's.. With my work, i cant have a phone thats not 100 percent functional.
Has this issue been resolved yet?

Can you elaborate? When are you getting these SODs? I've used some of 4.4.2 roms and I always clean wiped and wasn't experiencing them. Also, which rom were you using?

sure ill elaborate..
either when you wake it, it doesnt wake and reboots... or in the middle of a phone call, it will reboot..
its done it on OSE, unofficial CM, official CM, and a few other roms..
Not sure if its kernel related, but its been an issue for awhile with AOSP roms...
Try AOSPA (paranoid android). I think it runs on slightly modified stock kernel and I have never faced such issues!

Im using SlimKat since i got phone (around month now) and im yet to experience any reboots.
I've been using PA and have had zero SOD's. Now when I tried to use an aftermarket kernel then ran into some random issues. Use the kernel that comes with PA and zero issues.

an sod is when you try to wake your phone and it doesnt.. however the phone is awake and active. if you are turning on the screen but the phone isnt awake or active, for all purpose "dead", then its not an sod. and reboots are never sod. or in the middle of phone calls, thats not an sod. have you pulled a last_kmsg off your device to see why its rebooting? grab a last_kmsg after your next reboot(last_kmsg are only made when your device reboots on its own), post it here, and ill look at it. not saying that i will find the problem, but maybe i can.

thats an incomplete last_kmsg
notice it starts at 23xx and ends abruptly at 26xx? theres no beginning here(0) and no ending(its truncated). no beginning i can deal with, but the ending is all important, since it stops when you reboot. that happens occasionally, especially if its been a long time since your last reboot. next time try again. see if you can get a reboot not to long after a fresh bootup.
i dont have a G2, i have a nexus 5 and nexus 4, so i cant say its a kitkat problem on the g2(btw, theres no official kitkat for the g2 yet? that itself could be the problem).

honestly, its been that way on 4.3 as well, not just kitkat. thats why ive stayed away from AOSP on this device because i cannot have a phone that randomly reboots when it wants to. to my understanding that has never been pancaked out since everyones working on 4.4 now.
i keep switching back to LG roms because of this, however i get bored and go back lol.

well. its my guess that since aosp doesnt come with the stuff that makes it work on the g2, the drivers, kernel, and such, that stuff from 4.3 needs to be hacked up and made to work. from that point issues could be common. since im not on the g2 forums much, pm me your next last_kmsg, hopefully i wont hear from you

So basically ever since I flashed cm10 I've been having weird issues with my battery. it takes forever to charge like 2 hours to get to 20‰ and it will not go past that.to make it worse if the phone dies the notification light blinks and the phone will not turn on for like a half an hour I understand that its still not a stable release but other people are not having these issues and the rom itself is BOSS
My phone is on with the new pain in a the a$$ hboot and I used GUI flasher to flash the kernel before I flashed the ROM I am irc 9/5 build

I wonder if this isn't some explicit form of kernel panic, maybe there some small relevant change in the kernel that is creating a conflict from with in the rom in regards to charging the battery or what if the rom has significant changes in it that are confusing the kernel and causing a malfunction in the charging process, what if its causing some weird from of bug that is directly related to polling the battery, maybe its overheating because the flux capacitor is out of juice!! In all my adventures flashing roms and kernels and what have you I have never seen any error specifcally stating kernel panic or kernel break and not likely to see one anytime soon due to the fact that the general idea is if it boots its fine. dear god i need to sober up....have you tried just flashing the kernel of a previous nightly incase there are changes that didnt take?

I DO have that problem with mine. I am unlocked, rooted and running nottach's Base ROM the problem has reoccurred with the stock ROM and versions 0.5, 0.6.5 and 0.7.3 .
It's probably a kernel-level memory or CPU issue because for most people it appears to be a specifically time-based problem. The longer your uptime is, the worse the problem gets. Reboot your phone and the problem goes away for awhile.

do nightlies seem to get issues resolved on a quicker basis? not that I have had any yet with the 4.3's I have run so far. actually pretty impressed so far.
Depending on your style of life (and view of marriage) it's more like being married but waking up with a different sister every morning. Problems may be resolved faster on nightlys (or not truthfully) but new ones are likely to arrive just as quickly. Plus we
are warned not to send in bug reports because being nightlys they are supposed to have bugs. I never completely understood that because we seem to be an ideal audience from which to get feedback. But those seem
to be the rules.

you would think nightlies should be more stable. sounds like its a yes but no? which makes it a personal preference and what are you willing to tolerate or sacrifice? pretty much like everything else.
it makes things more sporting anyway. after a month on the most solid ROM my phone has ever been on, I was getting bored.
I just keep following the forums, trying different nightlys, and wait for that gem that comes along and everything works like a dream. Those gems are few and far between sometimes, but usually worth the wait. And so far, 10.2 is off to a good start!

So I realized WiFi is causing my Screen of Death issue on EVERY KitKat ROM, and only KitKat ROM's. So what is my next step? Does anyone have a fix on this or anything? It'll either Screen of Death my phone or my data won't work until I turn off WiFi and then I can't turn it back on. Any help would be appreciated guys. I'm desperate now. 15 battery pulls a day are just ridiculous.
Why did you make a new thread? :what:
Anyways...I'm in the same boat as you. Take a few screenshots of your app drawer so I can see if we are using any of the same apps, it's possible one of them are the problem.

Well OP isn't very active, so I thought I'd get a logcat. I was connected to WiFi until I noticed it wasn't receiving any data (but still showed connected to WiFi). I turned the screen off and then it would not come back on anymore, but the phone was still responsive. I could turn torch on and off and even took a screenshot, but the screen still refused to come on. I'm guessing that whatever is happening, usually does so while the screen is off, and that's why I get a BSOD.
I'd like to add I've tried a bunch of different modems, clean flashed CM11, even restored no apps...yet the problem persists.
I've attached it to this post, if anyone has time to check it out I would be very grateful.

I'm just so frustrated with my phone because I can not figure out a fix. At first I installed a clean kitkat ROM with full wipe, and didn't restore apps to see if it was an app but it still did it. Then I even completely unrooted my phone and rerooted, still did it.

That's alright, if it also did it for you without restoring any apps, its gotta be something else. But what... I have no idea.
It seems that WiFi is crashing while the screen is off and that is resulting in a BSOD. Why the hell is it crashing though... :banghead:

Yeah. I'll notice my WiFi is no longer sending data so I'll turn it off then it won't turn on. Or I'll try to turn it off and it won't then I know that if I lock my screen it won't turn on without a battery pull.
I'm not sure where to go from here if nobody can decipher that logcat.
All I can think of is to back up my SD card and completely format the phone.. then see if it persists.

How many different kit kat ROMs have you tried? And you said you're in the latest modem?

Yeah, it never happens when Wifi is off. I've tried it on CM11, OmniRom, Jelly Beans, PA, Gummy Rom, and I think one other. And what is modem again?

The modem (baseband) is something you can flash in recovery..
It controls the cells hardware that communicates with the actual cell towers.
That isn't going to mess with your WiFi though.. How about kernels have you tried another one maybe KToonsez ?

I installed the epinter cm10.1, and it is awesome!
But the phone randomly reboots frequently.
So I installed the latest kernel of Olympus Kernel Project. By latest, I mean the latest one from the dropbox link.
Then the randomly reboot is almost gone, if not completely!
However, the problem I have now is that the phone gets stuck a lot, either while I am using it or sleep, and when it freezes, it heats up a lot.
So my question is: is it only I have this problem, or you are also experiencing similar problems?
---------------
About the kernel, I've tried the 0217, 0222, 0319 and the 0327 ones. They all have problems of either randomly reboot or freezing on my device.
Common problem with 4.0+ ROMs. Would have known that if you did some reading....

Really? So I should go back to 2.3 if I need it stable?
BTW, I did quite some reading, but maybe I just didn't read the right one.

Fully stable, yes, go back to 2.3.6. All 4.0+ ROMs have the 3.1.10 kernel and thats still in development. Its almost at the point we need it to be at.

Well, I just like the cm10.1 so much so I do not want to go back at all. If we all have this problem, I will just stick to it...:good:
Thanks.
Well, I do not expect this ROM to be completely stable or something, but is there anyone having the same problem(sleep of death)?

Please find this fix. Thanks a lot!:good:

I am confused. Isn't this a thread of a rom ?
How should I use this fix?

It's not the ROM thread, it's a specific post from that thread.
Now look at the attachments in that post.
Guys, that "deep sleep" is a feature of motorola's ics, it's the equivalent to suspend on a pc. It has nothing to do with android's deep sleep while idle.
Here is a screenshot of that deep seep mode option activated on my atrics, it reads Reposo.

Oh! In this case, I don't need "deep sleep", I just want it not to get stuck.
finally
hello
i was a long time fan of xda for my atrix 4g mb860
i try a lot of roms to use ICS or JB
but until now not luck
but the lats week i try the last stable roms for epinter and use the lastest kernel (3.1.10....27)
the atrix work great
no deep sleep death
no data lost signal
every is ok
just the tango video call is up side (al reves)
thats the only thing that is a bug
i will try to upload the log but don't know how to get it
No prob, the devs aren't got there yet. Just a minor correction, any rom beyond gingerbread is alpha, or beta at the best. But far from stable. Things will go bad with these roms, and no one is responsible for what might happen to your phone (or cat)

Really? I have sleep death all the time and random reboot now and then... WHY:crying::crying:
I tried to increase the minimum CPU frequency, and the stuck problem seemed to happen less often. However, the reboot problem became more often.
I also tried to change wifi during sleeping setting.
Let's see how it works...
Iv'e been using CM 10.1 for about six months and i rarely got my device stuck and heated up. I did get my phone stuck every time a tried to play Leauge of Shadow game.
Try to see what apps are using causing your device to freeze and stop using them (if there is, shouldnt be too many of them).
About phone getting heated up, try to remove FastDormancy.apk from /system/app/FastDormancy.apk. Epinter himself posted a warning about phone heated issue this might help.
Good luck.
Problems with Spotify
Hi guys!
I'm new here so, sorry if i'm posting in the wrong place
I flashed CM 10.1 (now CM 7) on friday and everything was doing well before i try to use spotify.
When i lock the screen, my phone get freezed and then reboots.
Someone has this issue?
Edit: Solved with the kernel: kernel-2014_07_04_22_37_cm10_1.
Ps: the lastest build of kernel doesn't work on my phone(bootloop).
