Hi everyone, I recently bought a springboard s7-303u on ebay and the tablet works great. I wanted to start flashing roms to the device so I installed TWRP. When I try perform a backup to sd card using TWRP it always gets stuck after it finishes backing up the system partition. I have a similar problem with cwm as well. Trying to flash a zip from a sd card results in the device getting stuck as well. The device is currently running the stock honeycomb OS. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be, or have any suggestions. Any help would be appreciated. BTW I used the "Auto_recovery_installer_for_huawei_mediapad" that is posted in the development section to install twrp and cwm.
hi, hope someone can help. i'm sort of a newbie, so i might not even understand any help you give.:crying:
i have a optimus g e970. i installed the freeg app,
i've been trying to flash a custom rom, and have been unsuccessful. two things have happened.
1. with the freeg app, i click on the twrp block, and it says 2.6.3.3 successfully installed. so i reboot into recovery, and it says ver. 2.6.3.0 is the one i have. not sure if this matters, but figured i'd lay that out there.:crying:
and so i reboot into recovery, but when i try to install, the zip files i've put on the internal sd card are not recognized....it's like they aren't even there.
so, i try plan b.
2. i go back into freeg, and install cwm recovery, and reboot into recovery. now, the zip files ARE recognized, but every flash is aborted. unfortunately i didn't catch the exact wording of the warning it gave me, but i'm thinking maybe i had a rom not for the e970, but i'm not sure.
before i brick this thing, are there any suggestions? the rom on the device is Android version 4.1.2. i'm not big into flashing roms, but i have done so in the past if i have line by line instructions that i can follow.
Depending on what rom you are flashing You may need a more updated recovery.
Edit: nevermind you have 2.6.3.0, that is the newest version. However there is a kitkat 2.6.3.0 if ur flashing kitkat roms , use a recovery that support it

ok, i read that thread, didn't take me a whole lotta time. hahah. but next question.
the kit kat twrp....do i need that recovery if i am already on a kk, which i am not, or if i am going to flash a kk rom?
ok, this is where i'm at:
i have the kk twrp zip. i put everything on internal sd card. no recognition of zips.
i put everything on external sd card. no recognition of zips.
where i go from here, i'm all ears.

If you were already on kitkat you wouldn't need a kitkat recovery to run the phone .. If you're going to flash a kk rom you will need a kk recovery. The question is confusing ... So my answer may be confusing as well..

I don't know what internal SD card mean , the SD card or internal memory.. However regardless of the version of your recovery you should still be able to see the zips. If you are able to you may just put the kk recovery zip on your SD card, flash it , reboot recovery and see what happens. Also I think in twrp you are able to pick either to use internal memory or SD card too ( its in the options I think )
hey, thanks for your help. i know my questions can be confusing. such is being a newbie on this stuff, i don't know the precise phraseology sometimes.
nonetheless, i played around with that link you provided, and i think i might be good to go. i'll lay out what i did to help anyone who is in my positions.
i downloaded the zip for the twrp for kit kat. i was on 4.1.2, trying to flash a kk rom.
i put the zip on my internal storage, and rebooted into my already existing twrp recovery. zip not recognized. so i rebooted into cwm recovery, and the zip now was detected. i flashed the twrp for kk recovery.
rebooted into my new recovery. i wiped, and then clicked "install'. now, the recovery did in fact detect the rom and gapps zips. flashed, and rebooted system.
so i think i am good to go. not sure why twrp was not recognizing zips and cwm was. again, thanks. knowing there was a special twrp for kk got me going on the right track.

Yeah it happened to me once, I just downloaded an app called "Flashify" and used it to flash the KK TWRP.
Afterwards, reboot into the recovery and it will recognize .zip files.
I bought phones for my parents for Christmas. Managed to find two BNIB MDK Verizon GS4s on eBay. I currently have an S4 MDK that I rooted myself with no problems.
I went through using the Odin method to downgrade the kernel to root the device, just like I did on mine. When I downloaded ROM Manager, for some reason it wouldn't allow me to flash CWM, so I used terminal emulator to install it using the Loki method found here:
http://galaxys4root.com/galaxy-s4-r...on-att-or-verizon-galaxy-s4-sgh-i337sch-i545/
After I booted into CWM recovery, I wiped everything (didn't nandroid :/) before installing a stockish debloated ROM - BoneStock 1.1.4 which is what I've been running. When I went to install The ROM zip from my ext sd card, the card wouldn't mount. I can't get my device to mount at all in recovery so I can't even sideload anything.
One thing that I may have done wrong is not flashed the second CWM file to upgrade the recovery to CWM v6.0.4.7.
Currently the phone will not boot passed the Samsung logo. Is there anyway to flash a different version of CWM through recovery? Or would that even fix my problem? I can get into download mode fine. I can still boot into CWM but it's useless at this point.
Could someone PLEASE help me! I feel like I've made a stupid mistake somewhere.
I check the CWM recovery version on my device and currently I'm running version 6.0.3.2. Could that be the reason I keep getting the error unable to mount the sd card? Does anyone have a current version of CWM recovery that's flashable over ODIN? I'm thinking that's my last resort before attempting to restore the MDK TAR.

MDK TAR sounds like the only way to go. Make sure to get the MDK one though!
Theoretically, there are other ways, such as flashing a new recovery from your current one, but with Loki, that would probably be harder than what its worth.
Does anyone have any clue why I wasn't able to use ROM manager to flash CWM recovery?
ODIN MDK TAR file worked. I still don't know what went wrong and why CWM recovery couldn't mount my SD card so I could flash a ROM.
Hi everyone.
I recently rooted my Galaxy S4 using Odin, but I did not install a recovery at the time. I used Rom Manager to try and make a backup but every time I make one the phone reboots, starts up the cwm recovery but there's no backups to be found nor a option to make one from cwm. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, and if it would a bad idea if I installed safestrap and had two different recovery managers. Any help/advice is appreciated. Thanks!

You should probably stick to only one recovery. Regarding your cwm problem, maybe a new/updated version of it will help you.
From the 3.1.0 version of TWRP I have accidentally deleted everything, including my phone's OS. Thus when I reboot from twrp, it says no OS installed. I have downloaded several stock roms for my phone (Samsung Galaxy Grand Max SMG-720N0) When I install them with twrp, I always get invalid zip file. I do not have a backup on my sd card, so if anyone has a backup, or has the same phone, I am sincerely and desperately asking your aid to upload a restore version of a freshly formatted rom. I am stumped as to what else I can do.
Try looking up rom for your device at SamMobile & use odin to reload your OS
