[Q] HDMI scaling problem since 4.2?! - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Sony Xperia Tablet Z (1920x1200). With original 4.1.2 it would correctly scale the picture to 1920x1080 when connected to my TV with MHL/HDMI-adaptor. Since 4.2 and now with 4.3 update it will not change the resolution and displays a squeezed 1920x1200 picture on my TV. So the aspect ratio is corrupt, making wide faces etc. when watching photos or movies.
Sony says that it is Google's fault.
The Xperia Tablet Z has a hidden service menu where I can change the HDMI resolution but it is set as 1920x1080 as standard, and changing this to 720p does not correct the aspect ratio issue.
I have bought the app Screen Settings from Forbitel, and I have also tried other resolution changer apps, since I am rooted and have Busy box installed.
I am able to change resolution to 1920x1080, which displays correctly at my Tablet Z (it leaves 120 pixels unused =black bars at top and bottom) BUT when connected to my TV it will still only display a squeezed 1920x1200 picture on TV screen!
Why has Google removed the scaling from 4.2 when it was working perfect in 4.1.2?
Any information regarding this or ideas how to fix it would be much appriciated! Thanks!

[Q] Changing a device screen resolution (TOTALLY without any error/bug)

I owned a Sony Xperia S lt26i.
it will lags constantly while playing some games, i think it is because of its high screen resolution. (correct me if i'm wrong)
If i want to change whole device screen resolution from 1280x720 to 960x540
I just need to change the lcd density/screen resolution at build.prop and change all apps to 960x540 compatible (included launcher) , then change the details of my model to Xperia P (which is a 960x540 resolution)
Is it my steps will work?
any help is appreciate

Changing the display resolution (not DPI)

Is there a way to change the Display output resolution in Android?
I'm not talking about the screen density (DPI). I'm talking about the pixels.
The thing is I own an Acer Iconia A700 FullHD tablet but there is lag, especially on 3D games that forces the native screen resolution of 1920x1200.
So forcing the resolution from 1920x1200 down to 1280x800 would theoretically reduce those lags.
So it works with some games that comes with an option to change the resolution, but most games doesn't have an option, they simply run in 1920x1200 and lag really badly.
Is there a way to change the overall resolution down to 1280x800 ?
I know it MIGHT be possible but there could be a problem because the image has to get upscaled to the native display resolution.
And I don't know if the Tegra 3 comes with an hardware scaler.
So if the resolution gets changed, it might get upscaled and filtered (or not) OR just centered in a smaller image in the middle of the screen.
But either way.. Is it possible? if yes, how?
Thanks in advance.
[Q] Change Smartphone Display Resolution FHD 1080p to 720p via soft?
This is possible?
Currently many smartphones are already FHD, but what if we want to reduce to 720p to improve performance, it is possible via software? something like in windows, or is not possible unless you edit the kernel?
This an interesting topic.

[Q] [XPERIA NEO] Recording with 960x720 instead of 1280x720

Hi there.
Does anyone know if it's possible to hack the android camera, somehow, to record the HD videos instead 4:3 rather than 16:9? My camera (Xperia Neo) obviously doesn't have a widescreen lens so the magnificent 16:9 is just cropped 4:3. Recording in VGA obviously gives you everything the lense can capture but the quality isn't exactly great.
Any ideas? I tried editing media_profiles.xml, simply replacing 1280 with 960 but it only crashed the cameras.
Thanks

Force Change Aspect Ratio?

Hello,
I have a minor annoyance with my monitor on Remix Os for pc. I have searched but could not find anything for fixing this.
My native aspect ratio for my monitor is 5:4 but it supports 16:9 (on all resolutions except one which is 5:4 native unfortunately)
When I change the resolution on remix I get a HUGE letterbox effect where the picture is merely a race stripe down the middle. The native aspect ratio warps images just enough to bother me. I would love to fix this because it is a multitouch monitor. On Windows and Linux I have the option to select out of a list my monitor supports. (1280x1024 5:4, 1920x1080 16:9) On Android/remix I manually input them but I can't find anywhere to change the aspect ratio. Would anyone know how to change this?
Any help would be appreciated

16:10 resolutions?

Hi,
Im trying to setup a X96 mini to my liking. I connected it directly to a 24" 16:10 monitor. Im not aiming to play movies or anything like that, but want to display music sheets as pdf via the adobe reader app in 16:10 ratio.
It seems the box always forces a 16:9 ratio, as this is what the monitor is showing (FHD). I was able to change the resolution via a command prompt app. I tried different resolutions like 1920x1200, 1280x800 or even 1920x1080, but anything different then 1280x720 squeezes the image to non-fullscreen. I wouldnt mind a lower resoultion, but atm I have no idea how to output a 16:10 resolution at all.
Any ideas are highly appreciated, thanks!
