I can tell you for sure this is not a brick.
You probably have to open up the tab to check.

It really isn't a brick, The Tab charges but doesn't boot so I removed the case and found out the the shiny button thingy was gone and now I don't know what to do
Lol, what shiny button thingy? Don't you have like, 3 tabs? If you don't mind risking another tab, try taking the "shiny button thingy" from the other tab and put it in the faulty one.

So I opened my other tab and and took a look at the button and found out that it was identical to foil so I grabbed a small piece of foil and place it under the power button and it helped! Thanks for the help!

I no longer use it.
It's very important you hold camera steady for a good 3d shot.
But 1/2 or more of the time I seem to shake the camera using the button.
Now I'd say 9 of 10 come out good using the old on screen button.
Doesn't make a lot of sense because you'd think holding camera with one hand and taping screen would shake too. But they consistently come out better.
Well I take pictures holding the phone horizontally so the button is fine for me, but yea I prefer the onsceen button just cuz I'm use to it.

im also loving the button
No shake if you just hold the button down until the shot is taken...if you press and release there will be some movement....Half way focus/then press button and hold/picture taken/release button...works great.

Exactly what I was gonna say. I did this at first, didnt hold the button down til picture was taken and they would come out fuzzy. If you hold it down til picture is taken, perfection.
Hi all, just got the Note the yesterday and while playing around with it noticed that on Netflix viewing the button lights don't go off, ever.
Tried doing a search in this forum and didn't come up with anything but maybe someone knows what's going on?

I believe that's normal. Mine stays in also. I had a dell streak and it did the same thing.

1) Wow, those buttons seem really bright on the white Notes
2) Based on my past Samsung devices, altering the capacitive buttons behavior must be baked into the Kernel. So it will take some custom development to get Back Light Dimmer functionality exposed.
yeah the buttons are overly bright on the white version. seems like a bit of the screen backlight shows through. very annoying when watching in the dark, not so noticeable during the day or in a lighted room.
might have to break out so black tape when in the dark if this is how it's always going to be

I think it has something to do with the "keep screen on" setting in these applications.
Tape? Yikes, not me! I cover them with my thumb. Get deep enough into a movie and they don't bother you so much
I just turn them off all together. I know what button does what.

Honestly, until you said that, I had no idea there were options for the buttons in the Settings. lol. yeah, that seems like the best workaround
Display -> Touch Key Light Duration -> Always Off

I had no idea either there was an option. Never even crossed my mind as they never have been an issue before.
This will work perfect, thanks.
Thanks
Awesome tip, there seems to be nothing else on the Internet about it.
Saved my night!
Thanks
Glad you figured out how to turn off the capacitive buttons, that problem bugs me too. On another note, I friggin love Weeds.

Finally got my Mega and it's actually smaller that expected. The build quality is okay but there's a small ripple on the screen when you press too hard on it. I think its caused by the LCD and the glass when put under pressure. Anyone have this? It only appears when pressed hard and it's only one small point on the screen so I can live with it. I'm also afraid I'll get a worse one if I have it replaced.
Yep standard LCD then again no need to press to hard hey

So you have the same issue? I just called Samsung to have it repaired, they said it only takes 5 days. I'm a bit OCD so it will bug me to no end. If more people have this then I might just live with it.

It only appears on the same spot when pressed hard, I actually had a hard time taking that pic because it disappears after the tap.
I'm not sure if this is a real flaw or defect. Most LCD screens behave this way if you press really hard. However, pressing normally hard on the 3 GT-I9205 devices here, I can't reproduce the effect.

Maybe when I get it back the Xtralite ROM will be out I'm gonna use the phone all weekend and see on Monday if it gets better or worse. The warranty is 2 years anyway so I can have it repaired at another time if I get used to it. It doesn't appear on regular taps, just hard taps.
I have 4 spots on my screen that look like that when you press slightly hard on the screen. Same as what gx3k posted.
You can still see them as they stay brighter than the rest of the screen on white backgrounds. It's beginning to bother me because they are so visible on white backgrounds. I think I may have created these spots when I was installing the screen protector.
When you press too hard on the screen it sort of damages it and causes these areas.
I found the first giant flaw in the design of the mega yesterday. I used to lay my note 2 in my cupholder. Just open the lid on it and it would sit perfectly over both cup openings and leave room for a headphone jack to be plugged in the top for phone calls. I went to do that with the Mega yesterday and the phone is cocked at an angle and it holds down the power button and hung up my call. It's just too wide. Now I need to consider options for where else to place the phone in the car, or replace the radio with one that has blue teeth. :crying:
Stock image from KBB (not my car) for reference on cup holder design.

LOL that is funny. I had a cubby in my car that fit my note 1 with case perfectly...Not so much with the Mega. Now I find myself without a convenient place to store it.
Might be a deal killer for me
You can turn off the option to end call via the power button in call settings.

Get yourself a short rasp file and file out the portions of the cubby to the correct size you need.

I kind of feel like the stock rom should have came with an option that made it so the power button couldnt turn off the phone unless the screen was off or something... Maybe having it atleast ask for a power down password just because of how oddly placed the power button is and what not it makes it hard to keep this phone on with it just in your pocket.
Honestly I understand all the one hand users out their that want the power button in a stupid spot but I personally wish it would have been near the top right of the phone some place you had to reach for I find myself hold my phone and hitting the power button all the time.
It's not a mega fault it's a car problem......

So, this is not my tablet, but my wife's tablet.
The tablet is from Russia (we are in the US now).
Stock rom
No modifications
No root
Just barebones as it is.
So, she was using it and she put it down, and about, I guess 20 - 30 mins later, she picked it up and asked me what happened. And it is a strange thing because the ROM seems to have hardcore glitched (I believe) because somehow half of the top screen was at the bottom of the screen now and bottom half was missing and we could see the "Android is optimizing apps 56 out of 121" somehow, and we didnt even install any updates by ourselves.
So now the screen is glitched in these weird boxed patterns, not like the screen is broken, but something is wrong somewhere.
Take a look at the photo below.
Also I am trying to somehow flash an earlier version of the OS to see if that fixes anything.
You opinions are welcome.

You can try repairing your tablet with the help of Sony PC Companion software.
How to do it?

If it is software bug, reflashing will definitely fix it.
But this issue with screen distortion may also be hardware bug, cable that connects display with motherboard may get loose.
So if pc-companion/flashtool won't help you, firmly press left/right sides on the back of tabz and check screen for any changes. If nothing good you need to take it to service or heat back cover and carefully open it afterwards to check/replace it manually.
If you can read russian, check this thread.
