Hi Guys. I will be rooting the Indian Variant of L9 which is P765. I have few questions as to confirm them again.
1. By unlocking the bootloader, there is no way to relock it again? So I will permanently loose the warranty?
2. If I use this method for rooting - which is root with locked bootloader, then I will not be able to try CM 10 or 11 builds?
3. To have CWM in JB with locked bootloader, we need to try the method in this thread, but I am not sure as to what actually needs to be done here. Can anyone give a step by step method?
Clarifying this will be greatly appreciated. I have read the guides from cmahendra in the general section, however just a few questions and confirmations as above.
Thank you.

Hello Harsha,
1. As per my knowledge there is no any known method to relock bootloader. That means yes, once bootloader unlocked, you will permanently loose warranty.
2. This is the easiest and safest method to root L9. click here
3. Use this tool to install CWM without unkocking bootloader. click here

Hi guys,
I wanted to ask some things... I found a guide on how to unlock the bootloader and root my device by flashing recovery and permission tool. I wanted to know if there are some risks and what I risk. I also wanted to know about risks during a ROM flash. (I use a notebook).
Thanks a lot, Ruben.

This is a question (you even titled it as such) that belongs in the Q&A Forum.
Have read any of the articles you can find via Google yet?
If you only unlocked the bootloader and are still S-ON the risk is relatively low since you are limited in the partitions you can flash. I've never heard of anyone bricking their phone when flashing ROM's with S-ON.
Once you are S-OFF, you can flash pretty much anything and can brick your phone if you flash a ROM or firmware intended for another device. Like a lot of other things, the more freedom you have the more careful you need to be.

Thanks a lot for reading this post.
edit:
general knowledge thread on xda
I have an Asus Infinity tablet. I rooted as soon as I could, but kept it locked fur a while because of warranty issues. Finally, I bit the bullet and unlocked because I wanted to play with ROM's. I haven't had any problems, and I'll unlock my p769 as soon as available to.

When u are posting something, please mention details about ur device variant so that it will be helpful for pepple trying to help. And there are already many many many threads regarding rooting and problems faced during rooting. So, always check forum before posting anything.
For rooting use Lelus method, replace the bin file while flashing kdz, and u are rooted. For rooting JB by lelus method check this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
U can also root by unlocking bootloader, but if u unlock bootloader, there is no guarantee that LG will provide u any help if u brick ur device. For this method check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221102
Hi, I posted last week about help with unlocking and rooting LG l9 and no one really replied.
I used this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465) & it didn't work (i. e. step 2 of guide would not occur as chrome recognized the files as malware, with it stopping the download). Am I doing something wrong? I read the guide thoroughly & I don't have any pop-up blockers enabled. To sum up what I need help with: a method for unlocking & rooting T-Mobile LG l9. Sorry if this is a dumb post but I have spent a lot of time on trying to root my phone, with no success.

The reason noone responded to your previous post is simple. No one is going to hold your hand and explain everything step by step. It takes too much time. There is thread after thread of information here. Read. And then read some more. Creating duplicate threads is a no no at XDA by the way.
The link you posted is for devices that already have unlocked bootloaders. You may want to look at this thread for rooting your device. I can personally confirm that this method works for P769's with locked bootloaders. You didn't mention you devices model number but since you said TMobile I must assume P769.
As for unlocking your device, there is no definitive way or simple method to do it. If you have a ton of free time and don't mind your phone being down for periods of time while attempting to unlock, then follow any of the threads about unlocking your L9 bootloader. They are all about the same. There is no guarantee that you will be able to unlock your bootloader. You've been warned. Good luck.
