Hello, I am encounting a mysterious problem.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Sometimes, the mobile data connection seems to be connected (the arrows are coloured) but the connection doesn't work.
I can't find a rule about a specific factor that causes this malfunction.
SOLUTION ATTEMPTS
Sometimes the mobile data connection works fine but occasionally I encounter the above mentioned problem that can be solved only by rebooting the device.
I tried to disable and re-enable the data connection, enable and re-disable the flight mode, delete cache but nothing happened. The only solution is to reboot the phone.
I wonder:
Which factor causes the problem?
What exactly a reboot achieves that solves the malfunction?
How can I solve the problem by acting similarly to a reboot but without rebooting the device?

2.3.7 MROM
Vodafone Greece and WInd Greece (the problem occurs using both companies, so it's not a company sourced issue)
Any ideas?
I just discovered another solution that permanently sovles the problem:
When the problem occurs, I open a brower.
I test using the data connection to load a website and the connection doesn't work.
I disable the data connection, enable wifi, reload the website and now the webpage normally loaded.
I disable the wifi, enable data connection, reload the website and now the webpage normally loaded.
The data connection now works normally for the specific browser but not for other applications. Doing the same steps for another app browser the problem can be also be solved for the other specific browser.
I am trying to understand the source of the problem and how the above mentioned steps solves it for a specific app and also how reboot works solving generally the problem.
Any ideas??
It was finally a DNS issue.
Sony Xperia Z mobile data wont work
Hey my Xperia z firmware failed after a tweak incompatibility, so I flashed it with the global 4.1.2 firmware and my mobile data connects it just doesn't give me a data connection. I updated to 4.2.2 and it still didnt work, so then I updated to 4.3 and it still doenst work. Can you help me.
Before the firmware was flashed in the data worked as well as it was rooted.
Bell Canada
Sony Xperia Z
Android 4.3 Ice Cream Sandwich (I think)
Wrong device firum, dude.
But you can check your dns settings in your apn. Switch them to 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 to see if that's the issue, if it isn't, switch them back

Does your wireless internet connection have a password?
If so is the password entered correctly?

Maybe you could, let the phone forget the connection (delete it) and then try it again.

I tried, same problem.....
restart your wireless router or access point, see if that helps!
Maybe you have the wrong modem.
Take a look in the Modem Collection thread in the Android development section.
It often happens after installing custom ROMs

i think this is a kernel issue coz of the rom installed!
try reconfiguring ur router but after forgeting the network on ur phone and c how this works out!
My phone has had this problem since new. It stayed through stock firmwares KE1, KE2, KE7 and KF1, and has also occured through all Lite'ning Rom versions. I notice it's happening to users of a number of other roms, but isn't a widespread problem.
I have tried reconfiguring routers and forgetting the connection, but the problem persists. Very annoying, but not enough for me to send the phone back to the UK for repair (I'm in New Zealand!).
The problem is not resolved under the leaked 2.3.4 either, I've already heard of someone with the same problem on the 2.3.4 version of DarkyRom2.
Edit: Wifi is set to never sleep. Even cycling through this setting does not help.
those who have problem with WIFI try to reflash back your root application like CF-Root...then your WIFI should be working again...
This is a weird one. For a month I have been using the Leedroid rom with Honeycomb. I have the /htc /flyer 32gb with 3g (UK). In the last few days I have lost my internet connection on both wIFI and on 3g. I did get it back for a few hours today and now I can't connect again!
Having a tablet with without connectivity is a bit like having a fancy brick :-(
I have tried removing the Sim card and re-inserting it and trying a different wifi router.
Anyone else had issues like this?
i assume you haven't made any changes/modifications/installations recently that may have messed with it?
for your 3G connectivity, put your sim card in your phone to determine whether the issue lies with the sim card or the Flyer...also check your APN settings
same with wifi - can you connect your phone to your router's wifi?
my guess is that you installed an app that's messed with your settings
Problem solved (sort of)
Thanks for the reply
You may have been right that an app messed up my settings. I know the APN settings were correct as I could connect from my Nokia phone using them and the SIM card. I could also use two other definitely internet connected routers.
In the end I did a factory reset using CWM. After a few scary moments after the re-boot it was working again. Evidenced by the fact that after reboot the tablet tried to download my previously installed apps again!
I have had to re-do some settings and the Flyer seems to be runnng a lot more smoothly than before. Still no idea what caused my problems but will definitely be checking after I install apps in future that my web connection stays up just in case! Update, it seems my g and ADSL wifi are not getting along together - had no probs before though....mmmm....

you can stop that from happening...that's a "feature"...lol...either untick "back up my settings" under >settings/privacy; or don't add a google account after a new flash until you have reinstalled apps from a backup

some people have had success changing the wifi channel on the router to something higher than 11 (so i've heard, i've never had to do it myself)...you may also want to try setting static IPs for any other wifi devices to avoid conflicts
either way, it is far more likely that the issue would be settings other than ROM related, else everyone else would be having the same issues
you could also try something like this

Hello,
I run into rather strange problem. My phone, china Android 2.3.4, is working quite weel instead of this:
If I use WIFI, then turn it off and try to use mobile data connection, it is not possible.
Icon showing that mobile connection should be active is on, but no data comming through.
I tried switchiing to airplane mode, changing access point names and so on, but nothing worked. Only solution was to restart the phone, after that all works normally - until connecting to wifi.
After rooting my phone I tried to figure out more with Teminal emulator. It seems that after releasing wifi connection and turning interface down, mobile interface comes up with same IP as before - it should ask network for new one. But, more important, route table is empty (or containing one entery and no default gateway at all)
I tried bringing mobile interface up and down several times, tried forcing it to use dhcp (timeout), without success.
Is there a way to "reset" whole networking system from shell? Something like partial restart, which would be probably quicker than full restart.
Thank you for any ideas.
Same issue on my Galaxy S3. After being connected to wifi, i can't use mobile data connection and the only way to make it come back is reboot.
Any suggestion?

I'm having the same problem with an LG Optimus F6. Did you ever get this resolved with your phone?
Hi All,
My device is a Samsung SII I9100.. The device has not have had any problems until recently. I am unable to access internet via the browsers in my fone.. However, all my other non browser apps are able to access internet. I havent made any changes in settings, which might have caused this issue.
This problem is happening only when i try to access internet using 2G from my network provider(Idea). I had called them up, but they are also helpless regarding this issue. Can someone pl suggest on how can i proceed in resolving this problem?
Many thanks,
Atul

maybe 2G speed is too low and browser reach the time limit to load the page..you can always try to cancel browser data and cache (from manage apps settings) and see if it solve the problem

Maybe your 2G speeds is too low.
Try this,
Download Opera mini using 3G network
Run opera mini to complete the installation.
Then run opera mini on your 2G network, try to Google search something, if it loads, then it might be your slow 2G network causing the problem
Happy Independence Day!
There are many browser out there to try chrome, dolphin, opera and so on.
Try one of them and see if the problem persist.

I already have Opera installed. I'm facing the same issue in Opera as well
I tried clearing the cache, but that didnt help. This problem started occurring recently. Before that I was able
to get connected via any browser. As far as i remember, i havent made any change in settings that could have caused this.
Any suggestions pl...
Many thanks,

I've installed CyanogenMod 10 (NIGHTLY) in my Sony Xperia Ray (ST18i). Everything works fine except Mobile Data.
When I turn Mobile Data on, this error message appears for few seconds:
"Unable to resolve host "get.cm". No address associated with hostname".
At the same time, on the status bar, i can see 3G and then H connection icon, before they both disappear. So only Wifi connection works. My APN seems correctly configured.
I've also tried different basebands (85 and 86), but no results.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Thanks to all in advance, and sorry for my poor english

I think it is some issue with your network and/or simcard.
Have you tried using this sim in some other phone?
If this problem does not exist on other devices, you might need to reflash the ROM after clearing the data & cache.

Mobile data does not work with the same simcard in other devices. So this problem has to be related to my simcard and/or network. Thank you for this suggestion.
