Maybe it's just me... But I found most cases to be very slippery on the sides. One week now and no problems.... Solution 3m anti sIip tape transparent. You can see from the side shot almost impossible to see the tape. Give great grip and adds no bulk etc.... If I had the nerve I would use it on the bare phone. It sticks on all the classes I have and does not collect dust.

I have this case and it's beautiful, thin and not slippery. Quicksand Case - Note 3
I got mine for $3 shipped and it's got a bit of bend to it so that it's durable. I highly recommend as a backup or even daily driver if you're into thin cases.

I have used this method on my s3 aluminum bumpers and it worked awesome but i used black floor traction tape cut into thin pieces to go around the edges
I'm just wondering, will the 3M tape leave a sticky residue if it is taken off?

Been using the Body Glove for vibrant on and off the past couple of months. Adds a little bulk but added protection from accidental drops makes it worth it.

my fav is the black rubbery one from T-Mo... got it at launch date. I've tried others since and they always fail by comparison.
Also, you know there is a whole section on this right? You may want to check there.
If you need real protection, and want it to still look good, Otterbox is the way to go. I don't really notice the phone being any thicker, but the protection is superb, and it looks elegant, to me at least.
Sedio Innocase, great protection and adds minimal bulk.

Naked is the only way to be. I throw mine in my pocket with keys and what not, no scratches yet. I tried numerous cases but keep going back to nothing at all.
Naked maybe a good way to go. I still have concerns with scratching the back so I put an invisible shield full-body cover on mine and haven't looked back. Hate the bulk that is added from the other cases too.
Otterbox for daily use & Trident case when boating

I was using a TPU case but I feel like I am killing my phone pressing the buttons. I have one of the I9000 mesh cases and am very happy with it without a screen protector. They are on eBay btw.

Hands down its the Otterbox. Case closed haha! Only thing is its the "commuter" so its a pocket style. Otterbox dont make the "defender" for our vibrants so no belt clip but search the threadz someone posted a discount code. I used it too!

I wanted to go naked, but was too paranoid, so my solution was a Barely There case. I've loved it because it doesn't add any bulk, and has already saved my phone a couple of times from dinged corners.

the harder it is on the side and spends most time in ur pocket, it scratches that chrome side/corners of ur vibrant... i had body glove with my other fone.. not saying its a bad case, extra protection from dropping is good.. but it does scratches it over time.. try a cheap silicone and with a case/pouch or w.e u call them.
Otterbox not only does it not add bulk, you can still put it in pocket! I've tried all the silicone ones. The OBX combo has held up the best so far.
Sexyness + Strong as hell... otterbox
Got a $2 silicone rubber case from ebay and it works just fine...

I have one...
I did not remove the screen protector. Instead I removed my ZAGG IS. I like the built in one. However removing the plastic one is not hard at all. Its just glued in place.
Wasn't worried about the ease of removing so much as the feel...its kinda springy if u know what I mean ...its starting to annoy me some lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I bought mine on Saturday but I am taking it back because of the built-in screen protector.
Not only does it not sit flush with the glass (which is why it's "springy") but it distorts the quality of the screen horribly.
Getting my money back and sticking with my Diztronic TPU
Wow I removed it because it was too springy and it feels way better with my ghost armor screen protector!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think Otterbox took into account the weirdly concaved screen. I agree with the feel of it, spongy. But i also don't like how the sides are squared off, as opposed to more rounded on the previous versions I've used on other devices. The accessory plugs are hard to open and close. If you take the silicon cover off, you notice there's no grab rail for the silicon in the corners. Its hard to lock into the holster. Feels unnatural when taking it out if the holster and I've used a defender for over a year previous.
I'm OK with all the feeling because I was using a commuter it seems much like the commuter to me...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
On every device I have ever had a defender series I just cut away the plastic shield it sucks one I do that I toss on my own screen protector and enjoy!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I just got my defender today.I like it feels fine had the commuter before this one the commuter does feel more rigid but I like not having to worry on screen. The holster does look odd will have time to test that tomorrow
Keep in mind that there are two different varieties of the defender floating around for the s3 it seems.

Did you purchase directly from Otterbox? I purchased at local att store. After4 days, no better. Thinking of calling Otterbox and complaining.
Deleted.
I bought from AT&T but now outs returnd the screen was grainy may be that's what was meant by springy... I bought back a commuter but don't want to deal with adhesive protector yet want to have a protected screen

I like the styling of the case more than the "envelope" design on the back of the Otterbox cases. But I don't like the fact that these are only renders of the cases. Show us some actual pictures.
I just got the case, and I actually like it, I normally don't like cases but it seems to feel good on the phone. I posted a few pics of it. The one downfall is that it covers the back notification LED.

the side rubber indents make it grip when holding it, also the middle is recessed but it helps with gripping it, I tend to drop my phone often but havent yet with this one. (had it since day one 11/21) it feels really good, very solid.

Is the inside layer real flexible at all? I've got a skinomi screen protector on and it's too thick for the diztronic case I have. Gonna need a case that can fit over the edges of the screen protector. Thanks for the pics. Beautiful case.

Yes, the outer rim of it is flexible. so it will do just that
I have a real physical job(cable guy) and theres plenty of times where I fumble my phone from the holster or need to take a quick pic or need quick access to the S pen,I felt like modding my defender holster with my dremil for easy access for the camera lense,S pen,and using it as a kick stand..( lol.I need to replace my bit)

Yea my bit is dull, as you cut into plastic theres a small portion that bubbled up, so I switched to the sander bit to smoothen it out but when you sand plastic it changes from the original color..no biggie for me just a holster thays gonna be under my shirt or tool belt.

I have always done this since my first Defender on the iphone4. It just pops right out.
As for the mod in the OP it's a good idea but yes I'd recommend cutting only the area where the camera and pen are. You can practice with an 1/8" drill bit on a Dremel at mid speed. Go slow and don't use too fast a spindle speed or the plastic will melt. Even if it does ball up a bit it's easy to remove. Once you drill the initial hole closer to the middle of your target area you can cut your way to the outlined area with ease. When a more specialized cutting device isn't available, this works great. This is the principle that the Rotozip uses.
Does anyone use a screen protector under the one built in?

First and foremost let me just start by saying that I typically do not do reviews, but I do consider myself to be a phone fanatic. I've owned several cases for several phones, including iPhone 5 & Otterbox Defender (Pictured) and this is by far the best Defender case that I've purchased. I'll try to keep it short and let the pictures do the talking.
The case fits very tight and the phone will not move at all once its placed inside, so be sure that there's no lint or hair on the screen or screen protector of the case because it's next to impossible to remove it without a flat head screwdriver or knife. The headphone port leaves plenty of room for L Shaped 3.5mm jacks (Beats etc.). The "rubber" outer shell is very stiff and shouldn't get loose over time like some of the older otterboxes. All of the ports and cutouts are perfect. The only thing that i don't like is that there is a rainbow affect from the screen protector, & the fact that it looks like a 7" tablet when it's on my hip. But that said this case was definitely worth the wait and money.
I appreciate that review but I own the case I'm just curious should I take the built in screen protector off or take my screen protector off
Sent from my SM-N900T using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Im not having any bubbing here. I would its the self healing tech 21 protector thats causing the otterbox protecter to stick and make bubbles. I would take off the screen protector and put just a cheap one on. And keep the otterbox one on as it helps keep dust out of the case. Buts that just my opinion based on the thinking that a nice self healing screen protector is going to be wasted under there anyway.

This is what I want to do but nobody has confirmed that it will or will not work. I don't want to drop $60 on the defender and it be unusable. Now that I have had a tempered glass protector I could never go back to a plastic protector!
