Try this http://www.droidgator.com/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s3-sch-r530-us-cellular/
you need to download Odin 3.07, latest cwm recovery for US Cellular to your desktop.. download Knox remover(DeSamsungnizer) and super user.zip to your phone and leave them in your download folder, open Odin put your phone in download mode(volume down, power, and home button all together til you see warning) plug the cable that came with the phone into the computer and phone and wait for COM: ID to come up and then put the cwm .tar.md5 into the PDA part of Odin.. make sure auto reboot, f.reset time and repartition are NOT checked.. click start and let it run its process when it says pass do a battery pull, boot into recovery (volume up, power and home at the same time, til the samsung logo comes up ) once cwm touch recovery comes up, click on install zip from sd, go to your download folder and install your Knox remover.zip, then do the same with your superuser.zip and reboot you SHOULD be rooted now its a very simple process I might be able to post links of the downloads for you. if you have any questions let me know.

Use the towel Root method, this seems to work on every gs3 variant
1. Just tap the "Make it ra1n" button
2. It will say you should have root, and you do!
3. Then go ahead and download SuperSU
4. ENJOY!

I rooted my S3 no problem. please please help quickly
I don't know why your flashing a pit file to root . Read the noob guide .

it said in the root guide to flash to pit file to flash back to eclair. thats why i flashed the pit.
but i have flashed just the pdf.tar alone and it after odin resets it it just rotates like its loading then the battery icon appears shortly. after i remove the usb cord and try to boot up it just flashes the tmobile vibrant then over than over, so what do i have to do?
Also i cannot get into recovery, the only thing i can get into is download mode. and nothign i have read is helping me with this specific problem. i have downloaded like 3 different tools and one click flash to stock one click unsoftbrick and i am not getting ANYTHING nothing but bootloops, and ADB isn't recognizing my device either
It sounds like the files you are

I have been trying to flash back to stock i have used that PDA file and nothing, do i also need to flash the pit if i am trying to just go back to stock?
Edit:
I am Using this utility right now. and i flashed the PDF that came with it, alone then i am currently flashing the Pit and the PDF File and i am getting no response from the phone, nothing i flash via odin is working. so what is wrong? it is the t-mobile galaxy this is driving me crazy,
Yes!!! You need to flash BOTH the PIT and PDA files at the same time in order to go back to stock. Read that file Samsgun linked second.
Boot into download mode.
Open Odin with admin privileges
Connect phone
Make sure yellow Com box is lit up
Click PDA and load it
Click PIT and load it
Make sure Repartition is checked
Say a little prayer (jk)
Hit start
Green pass, yippee! !!
Now you are on 2.1 Eclair
Woodrube said:
You can download the Superuser.zip and/or the CWR zip from my signature.
If you are just going to root it and leave Eclair on there, then pull the Superuser zip from my signature.
If you are going to flash a custom ROM on there, then pull the CWR zip from my signature (but make sure you have already downloaded a ROM.zip to flash with this).
For Root. Put Supersuser.zip in your Internal_SD card and make sure it is named Update.zip and the only thing on there named that. Boot into recovery using the key combo (Volume +/- and Power, when you see Vibrant come up, release the Power button but keep ahold of the Vol+/-) It will boot into "stock" recovery. Scroll down to Reinstall Packages and hit it. Might have to hit it twice, then reboot. You should have Root.
For CWR/Custom ROM. Same as above only no need for the Root.zip. Find a ROM that you want to flash (make sure to read OPs) and download it and put it on a folder where you know it will be in the phone. Just put the CWR on your Internal_SD and again make sure it is named Update.zip. Boot into recovery, scroll down to Reinstall Packages, hit it. It will cycle through and the stock (blue) recovery will turn to CWR (green) and you can then scroll down to Install From SD card and find the ROM that you downloaded beforehand.
Some things. Booting into recovery isn't easy and can take you a few times to get it. Also you can root using Z4 app, but you'll have to find that on your own.

i have done exactly that in that odrer, and after odin resets my phone it does that little loading circle then flashes battery screen, then goes to the little rotating loading then back to the battery. it never actually reboots, if i remove the cord and try to boot up that way it just flashes the samsung vibrant then the loading screen, rinse and repeat same out come every time
Just to rule this out. Is this phone a T959 (3g) or T959V (4g)? Look under the battery. Does it have a front facing camera? There have been a rash of those lately and just want to make sure before you move on.

FFC is usually the tip off for future issues like this Samsgun.
Our FFCs are aftermarket mods, so if you know your audience, ie mom/dad types, not power users like us (I am a father btw) and OP, then you'll be able to spot it right off.

Bro, if this phone is from T-Mobile/america you got a 4g version. If it is international, we don't know what to tell you. Is your back cover a honeycomb like style or metallic finish?
Sent from my Jellied out Vibrant sandwich.
Check out the Hellybean nightlies Here and here and the Devil Kernel for ICS here and Jelly Bean here for the Galaxy S and variants.
So this is me second Galaxy Note. My first one came with Gingerbread and I had no problems rooting that phone. That phone broke and I got sent a new one because my old phone was still under warranty. So I'm trying to find a way to root this phone and everything I keep seeing on how to root it is the same method that I used on Gingerbread, however, my phone came from AT&T with ICS 4.0.4 pre-isntalled. I didn't think that the old way to root it would work but I can't find anything that doesn't involve loading a custom image so I tried using the pda.tar root method and now my phone is bricked, stuck at the splash screen and it won't turn back on. I can get it back into download mode, but I do not want to put a leaked ICS rom back onto the phone. Call me crazy but I think there are differences between the stock ICS ROM and the leaked versions.
The leaked version is actually where my problems came from on my other phone, after having put that on there AT&T tried forcing an update to my phone while I was talking to tech support about an issue and that thing is completely bricked. According to their guy the leaked version had a different kernel that the stock ICS ROM and that's where the problem came from and why my phone was replaced under warranty.
Does anyone have good news for me on this thing?
Read the root information in the "note everything " thread , and find the big green arrow .
Notes have been added to the root method , and are found there also ...
Read them twice and you'll see the battery pull fix you need ..
The problem you have is a script being loaded after root that won't allow recovery to stick ...
The fix is easy ...just read the info in the notes .....g
I will check that out, thank you!

That's of no help... I can't get my phone into any recovery, stock or CWM. Seems like he was using a different rooting method than me. I've only ever loaded the one file pda.tar and what he's looking at seems like it wants to load CWM using Odin? I'm so confused, I'm sorry. Thanks for your help so far.
Root is gained by pushing the recovery in DL mode ...
Then the battery trick after that ....
If no download mode exists .....that's a problem .g
Don't think he has the script issue. That was on Canadian Notes that took the OTA update. He is boot looped from the sounds of it.
Gubment Cheeze
Still have DL mode, I've tried running pda.tar again which gave me CWM. I pulled the battery out, still the same problem.
I guess I could try CM9, is there a stable build on that yet? I know I should probably do the research looking for it, but it has to do with this thread in a way.
If you're boot looped but have recovery and dl mode then you can flash a ROM through recovery or Odin back to stock and start over.

..root and custom recovery are 2 different things completely. If you're just going to flash a ROM then you don't need to root. You just need a custom recovery. If you want to keep your stock ROM and attain root, then you need to flash the su binaries zip in a custom recovery.

OK..so when you said this^^^, you meant what? Can you get into recovery at all? Cwm or stock 3e? If not then you can't flash a ROM. You can use Odin to flash back to stock and start over.

I just used Odin to get me back to the stock Gingerbread ROM. Then I ran Odin again to get root on the phone using the pda.tar. Before this gave me CWM. I cannot get my phone into any recovery mode at all, CWM or stock. I went back into Odin and loaded a CWM using PDA and I still can't access a recovery menu.
What happens when you try to flash the cwm tar through Odin? Does it say successful and then reboot your phone? How are you trying to enter cwm recovery?
Gubment Cheeze
---------- Post added at 03:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:49 PM ----------
Also, I'm not aware of any Odin root tar that you're talking about. You flash cwm through Odin and then install su binaries zip to attain root.
Gubment Cheeze
I'm confused ...
If you Odin flashed the GB.tar, and it completed successfully, then you "in fact " have a 3e recovery, as it's included in the .tar image .
Volume up, volume down , and power button being pushed together will open this version of recovery.
The restore won't complete without it ....
If you have a working GB rom ....then Odin push the recovery and done ....g
When I try to flash CWM through Odin it all goes as expected till I try to get into recovery. I've pushed and held VLup, VLdn, Pwr and I've tried VLup plus power. The phone does nothing, just vibrates over and over again until I let go and then it shuts off. The phone boots no problem into GB, the problem after that is that the phone still thinks it has some remenance of ICS on it. A whole lot of google processes don't work and it tries telling me that it's still in power save mode that I know for sure isn't in the GB ROM. I can restart the phone and attempt recovery and I still get nothing. I've even tried updating the firmware with Kies and that gets me nowhere either. Even after I've got GB back onto the phone I've tried flashing a couple different CWM from Odin with no better result.
The fact that I'm booting into GB shows that Odin is working. I'll be looking into Odin to see if it will wipe the phone clean without going into recovery. Otherwise I have a worthless device and I have to send in my old phone and I know I can get working again....
Both volume up and down plus power. After first vibration, release power, but continue to hold the volume buttons. If that doesn't work, download an app from the play store like Flapps PowerTool to get into recovery.
Gubment Cheeze
I had a similar issue (stuck on the Samsung logo) the other day when I tried to root ICS. I solved it by entering download mode and flashing one of the leaked ICS ROMS using Odin. Once I had done that, I downloaded the full ATT official ICS ROM and using Kies, updated manually.
Good luck.
That's good advice I'll have to try out and I'll let you guys know what happens. Thank you again!

Did you buy your phone second hand??
Well If you have superuser... then your phone might be rooted, install terminal emulator and type "su" in it to check or just install any app which needs root and see if the app works after giving superuser permission...
If your phone is rooted... then you have to unroot it before you update to stock via kies...
For unrooting, follow this.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tW6x29ug5Ms&desktop_uri=/watch?v=tW6x29ug5Ms&gl=GB

Well...firstly coz your phone is rooted...you can flash(install) any custom ROM you want on your phone... Its your choice..
You can get the ROMs here in the android development section of SGS2:

How do i perform a wipe? It recommends you to perform one but i cant find anywhere that 1. explains how to do it and 2. does it matter that my phone is only on baseband version 2.something?
You need to learn 'the basics'.
To do a wipe/factory reset; boot into recovery mode - Turn phone off. Hold home/volume up & power buttons. The rest should be self explanatory from there (If it isn't, you seriously do not want to be messing with your phone in the first place. There's a fair chance you'll break it if you persist).
Yeah hah. My phone came like this. Is there any way that i can unroot my phone?
Yes. Flash a stock rom in Odin. Guides on how to do it in that link I gave you, get the stock rom from Samfirmware. This will overwrite your existing rooted kernel/'unroot' the phone.
Easy way
Go into settings -> privacy -> restore to factory defaults.
Bit harder
Turn off you phone, push and hold volume up + home + power button (press simultaneously) till <3e> recovery menu shows up, and then with help of vol up/vol down keys/power to select, use wipe data command.
Thank you. Very much.

Well i suppose you're new to this a way too much...so just flash stock ROM via PC(odin) and enjoy the phone, until you get bored and want some mods in it..
I'll recommend you to flash the stock ROM coz factory resetting the phone won't change your kernel...
Also its best to download the stock ROM of your count...you can go on http://www.sammobile.com register there, and download the particular ROM file according to your country (after doing this you won't even need to update via kies...you'll be getting the best official update samsung has to offer you for your country)....
If you download the Stock ROM for your phone from above...repeat the exact same steps below, just remember to use the download file from sammobile instead of the one given...
Restoring stock firmware to your phone
Before you attempt to do any of the steps outlined below, make sure that Samsung's Kies software is not running on your machine. Kies has an unfortunate tendency to cause problems when Odin is attempting to communicate with your device, so ensure it is either disabled or uninstalled entirely. It's also worth noting that following the steps outlined below could wipe your handset, so be sure to back up anything you don't want to lose, just in case.
Once you've got everything set up correctly, completely switch off your phone. Once it's off, press the volume down button, home button and power button together. Use the volume up key to place the phone in Download Mode and you're ready to flash that lovely stock firmware to your device. Connect your phone to your computer using a standard micro-USB cable. If you get a message informing you that your phone hasn't been installed correctly, you'll need to grab those Samsung drivers .
Open up Odin and click the 'PDA' button. Find the official 4.0.3 firmware you downloaded to your computer moments previously and select it. Note that this file has been compressed, so you may need to install WinRAR to extract it before loading into Odin. . Having selected your extracted firmware in Odin, ensure that only the 'Auto Reboot' and 'F. Reset Time' boxes are ticked in Odin's user interface, then click start.
Odin will work its magic and flash the official firmware to your device. Once it's finished, your phone will reboot automatically, and you'll be the proud owner of a Galaxy S2 with stock (and all-above-board) Ice Cream Sandwich firmware.
If you get any FC's factory reset your phone...
And remember when we say "wipe" it means format...
Idk whether JB is available for you there or not...but after this kies should work just fine for you...
Sorry for spinning your head and involving you in custom ROMs..i should've posted this earlier..
Press Thanx if I helped...
Here I am, crying about another bricked Samsung Galaxy Player. All of the other threads either have outdated links, or are not the 5.0 USA version. Anyway, here's my problem:
I was trying different ROMs and then my device got locked into a boot loop. In my trying to fix it, I bricked it. The display shows the image of the phone, yellow triangle, and computer connected by dots. To troubleshoot this, I have tried so many different tutorials on forums, etc. The most recent one I have tried is Here. I think I need to just completely re-install the original firmware, ROM, and whatever else I need to. I tried using the oneclick.jar file with arch linux; it seemed to execute and copy everything to the device, but nothing happened. Anyway I'm really new to all of this, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

The little colored area that shows the status turns red and says "error." I'm thinking it must be the low battery charge, but how do I go about re-charging it? If i plug it into the charger, it'll go through 5-minute cycles of being off and on, which is not enough time to complete all 3 steps. I'm guessing the 5-minute cycles are charge/discharge cycles that the device performs. Either way, I'm still not sure what to do. Also, do I need to install a bootloader from odin?

If i plug it into the charger, it'll go through 5-minute cycles of being off and on, which is not enough time to complete all 3 steps. I'm guessing the 5-minute cycles are charge/discharge cycles that the device performs. Either way, I'm still not sure what to do. Also, do I need to install a bootloader from odin?

I'd try to install a boot loader, aslong as the device powers on and you can get it into download mode and connected to odin to flash a boot loader you should be good. Not sure about everyone else but i already have 4 roms stored on my device so the last time this happened, i just got a bootloader into there via odin, got into cwm and wiped/flash everything again.

I'm not really sure which bootloader I'm supposed to use, so I got the one from this thread. I extracted the "GalaxyPlayer-Bootloader.zip" and found multiple files, such as odin and the bootloader file, in the zip archive. The bootloader file was compressed as a .rar, so I extracted it and then archived it as a .tar and used that file for the bootloader option in odin. Nothing happened, the green progress bar didn't go anywhere and eventually the battery cycle ran through and odin said it failed. I'm not sure if the correct files were in the bootloader .tar archive, so here's what I put in there: "boot.bin", "param.lfs", "Sbl.bin"
Are these the files needed in the .tar archive for a bootloader? Or do I only need "boot.bin"?
Thanks so much again for the help!
Never use the bootloader option in Odin for this device. Always use PDA.

I would not use those bootloaders either. Those will only get you download mode. Instead flash a ROM that has bootloaders in it.

took a look at the archive, just extract it to a folder on your desktop. open Odin3 v1.81
where is says "PIT" in the middle click on that and select the only file it shows.
Under "PIT" is "BOOTLOADER" check the box next to that then click on "BOOTLOADER" and select the download mode only one. hit start and wait for it to do its thing, should prompt you to disconnect the device after a few minutes and it will reboot into cwm, from there flash whatever rom file you have on your device. If you don't have one then see if you can load one onto a micro sd card and pop that into the galaxy player.

First of all, thanks so much for all of the support. I feel really stupid for thinking that the .tar file was a .rar file; I have no clue how I mixed that up. Anyways, I got it fixed and here's how I did it for anyone else with the same problem as me:
I kept trying the method of uploading the pit, followed by the two ROMs, but that still wouldn't work. I tried stopping it in between two steps, because I figured the random shutdown might have been because of a battery charge issue or something. Once I successfully paused between the two steps, and carried out all three, I tried to boot into recovery, and instead, the little circle made of dots would appear for a split-second, followed by a freaky-looking download mode screen sliding everywhere and flickering. At first I thought it was a hardware failure, and that I might need to replace the screen. If you have this problem, a broken screen is not the case!!! To solve this, download this .zip file (from this thread) which is the factory bootloader. You will also need a micro-SD card. Make sure to put your device in download mode by pressing and holding the down volume button and the power button at the same time, even if your screen says that it is in download mode, it may not be in download mode. Unzip the .zip file, and run odin. Choose the .pit file, and for the PDA, choose "GalaxyPlayerBootloaders.tar", and not the "GalaxyPlayerDownloadModeOnly.tar". Start odin, and as soon as your device does the automatic shutdown, hold the up volume button and the power button at the same time. This will get you into recovery mode at last, and now just use a micro SD card to install the factory ROM (downloaded from here) on the device.

Alright so get a rom from this page. You'll need to get an international one (as you probably know) and use odin to flash the rom. I hope this helps, feel free to ask about stuff you don't understand.
Note: If you can hear a sound when you plug your device into a computer, odin should still recognize your device.

You mean like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2461203 and check this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46271485&postcount=47 for the root which uses TWRP recovery and it works pretty good.
But keep in the the "melius.tar" file is for the mega 6.3 phone and the "crater.tar" file is for the mega 5.8 phone and these files are odin flashable and will need odin 3.07 which i use and works well, but when you load up the tar file in the PDA window of odin it will take a bit for it to show up in that window as it looks like odin is not responding..but it is just preparing the file which is quite large .
TY For the good information. Just curious if those stock ROM/Kernel will be okay to flash even tho I have a t-mobile sim card installed. And do they have the bloatware removed, and will my voicemail/texting still function properly?
Also, when i flash the new .tar file does that root the phone also, or should i root it first? If so could you post the link for rooting? Your help has been greatly appreciated

TWRP gives you the option to root your device if it isn't rooted so flash the tar file first and the rest will take care of itself.
Good luck

No do not root it first because when you flash the stock rom it will replace what you rooted with the stock recovery without root. And the t-mobile sim card should work i think..but these are stock roms for the their respective carriers and they all have bloatware..i just not sure on how much each different rom has for bloatware, i use the BWA rom which is for sasktel in my area.
1. Download odin v 3.07 as v 3.09 i don't really like using.
2. Unzip odin 3.07 to a spot on your pc that you can find it easy and open the odin program.
3. Choose which stock rom you want to flash but make sure to unzip the rom so that you get the .tar.md5 file inside and you don't need that .dll file.
4. Now with odin open click on the PDA button and locate were you have the rom's .tar.md5 file and click on so it shows up in the File name window and click on the open button, and give it time for odin to load the file as it will take a bit and when done it will show the file in the PDA window.
5. Make sure only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" is checked and the rest of the boxes don't need to be checked.
6. Now that odin is ready to flash, you have to get your phone into Download Mode..by first have the phone powered off and then hold the vol-down + power button at the same time and it should vibrate and then a warning screen should appear and release the buttons and then push on the vol-up button and you are now in download mode.
7. Now connect your phone to your pc and with odin still open from before you should see in the first ID:COM window light in blue and show something like 0:{COM4} in it..this means your device is connected and ready for flashing..make sure all other settings like described earlier in this post is set in odin.
8. Now you are ready to flash the rom and click on the start button and it will begin flashing and will take a bit to do and once done your phone will reboot and then you can unplug your phone from your pc and let the rom load as this will take a while also..and once it starts you can fill in the info you need when your first start a new rom..and you can now close odin.
Now that part is done..on to flashing TWRP recovery.
1. Open odin again and follow the procedure above in this post like how you did the rom to flash the TWRP recovery .tar file, but make sure that the Melius.tar file is for the mega 6.3 phone and the Crater.tar file is for the mega 5.8 phone from that link in my earlier post, and use the right .tar file according to what phone you have the mega 6.3 or the mega 5.8..BUT you change one setting only "Uncheck" the "Auto Reboot" as you don't want your phone to reboot after it is done flashing and the rest is all the same settings, like only have the "F. Reset Time" box checked and all the rest not checked.
2. Now put your phone into Download Mode again like describe earlier in this post.
3. Connect your device to the pc and make sure the ID:COM window lights up with your device id in it.
4. Double check that you have the right file and settings are what they are suppose to be and click on the start button and odin will begin flashing and will be done very quick and the bigger window above the ID:COM window will light up and say reset or pass and flashing is done.
5. Now unplug your phone from the pc and you will still be in the Download Mode which is okay.
6. Now you want to go back into the TWRP recovery right after your phone boots other wise it will not work, while still in the Download Mode hold the vol-up + power button until the phone shuts down and then quickly release the buttons and the then re-push on the vol-up + power button right away again and phone should vibrate and when you see the mega splash screen and in the top left corner of the screen in blue saying Recovery Booting.....and release the buttons and you should now be going into the TWRP recovery.
7. Once in the TWRP recovery and give it a few seconds tap on the reboot button and then it will give some selections and tap on recovery and it will then say the device is not rooted and it will ask if you want to root it with Superuser and you just slide that big round button icon across the screen and it will reboot into TWRP recovery and your phone will now be rooted.
8. Now you can leave TWRP recovery by tapping the reboot button and then tapping the system button and your phone will reboot and go into the rom.
9. Once you get back into your rom at some point it will ask to update the Superuser binaries and you will have a selection of PLAY or TWRP to update these Superuser binaries and choose the PLAY button and tap on it and it will take you to the Google play store (but make sure to have a google account otherwise you cannot get to the google play store) and you can then tap the update button and it update the Superuser binaries for you and after that is updated your are rooted and full Superuser permission..and that's it you are good to go and have fun with your rooted phone...and hope this info has helped you out.
Thank you VERY much for the detailed help, it is EXACTLY what i needed. As for the ROM/KERNEL is there a t-mobile mega 6.3 stock available to flash? Or will the link you posted above work fine for me and i just freeze the unnecessary bloatware?

Unfortunately not as the links in the first post are all Canadian roms and will work on your i527m mega..all i can suggest is just flash some of the roms and test them with your t-mobile sim card and see how it works as i am not sure on this part and you should be able to freeze or disable apps i am thinking..i will take a look and see if there is a t-mobile rom but i am not sure on it at this time. :good:
On the above rom/kernel link, if i dl the rom does it contain the kernel? Or do i have to dl both files and flash them both? Also do I need a SIM card in the phone to flash and root?

The rom contains the kernel also..so you do not have to download the kernel, and you don't need a sim card in to flash the phone.

THANKS!! Everything went off without a hitch, i am rooted and running the firmware. I have not received my t-mobile micro sim yet, but all my research points to the fact that i wont be able to use the US gsm networks? Is this true for my I527m model? If so is there a way to flash the US radio frequencies to my phone to get the LTE? or some other way i have yet to find? Thanks again for all your help.!!
