Hello,
can anyone create a flashable zip of JB task manager for GB? If this is possible of course... You know, that thing which appears while you long press Home button, then you can swipe off tasks you don't need work in backgorund.

Actually, I was thinking of this since a long time, becoz most of the apps that are available i the market aren't that effective as the stock one is.... maybe this summer I will work on this project!
:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
Won't work as is. Enormously different frameworks. Needs to be ported, better learn to code (assuming it hasn't been ported already).

How to mod Android 4.0.3 to close apps via long-press the back button?
Buuuuuuuuump
You could try out this tweak: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425612 (credit to super_paws)
It's posted in the Nexus S forum, but the creator states its for stock 4.0.3 OTA, with no mention on which devices it works on. So I suggest making a Nandroid backup before testing this out.
Note that it's not a ROM or a kernel, just a flashable zip that adds a few features, including the force close feature that you're looking for.
Once you flash it, you must go to Settings -> Developer Options, and enable "Stop app via long-press".
Hope that works out for you.
Thanks to you ma friend
Will test this out and give feedback ASAP
edit:
sadly it ends up in a bootloop. i will try to contact the developer and ask him.
Edit: This file is for Nexus S Stock ICS only.
Is anybody able to tell me which file i have to modify for closing apps via long-press the backbutton?
Or where i should start searching. i have absolutly no clue.

I have noticed that this feature comes with the latest ICS CM9 build v1.1 from tytung.
Anyway, thanks for the hint!
Hello, newbie here. I just wanted to ask if anyone else is experiencing the same thing I am. My phone start up time or boot time takes more than 30-45 seconds. Is this normal? Is there a way to make it faster? I have already tried the optimize tool box thing with the start up manager and only allowed set cpu to run during start up. Is there something I missed and need to do?
Try Allowing the Google Service Framework to run at boot
Herpderp Adreno + Tegra.
Go to CM7.2 by vo-1 (23.01.12) (it's odexed) go in cm options and disable bootanimation, it will boot in few secs

I have noticed a similar problem with the ICS Stock v1 ROM. Its irritating but so far I have been not able to do anything about it. If you would like, you can flash ICS Sunday Final, which has everything rolled into one, including fast boot.
Thanks for the assist awesome senior members. Will try to do those steps you suggested one by one and see which best fits.
@pyronia - still a bit nervous in doing some revisions on build prop and or system scripts, will try it after doing a backup via recovery.
@tj_droid - thanks for the option, glad to see an alternative from the market.
@ace_viknesh - i like ice cream sunday final however, would prefer something other than ADW launcher. is there a way to change the launcher?
To all you guys who have been assisting newbies such as myself, your help is truly appreciated.
And to all the developers who have painstakingly worked on making our "ace" a whole lot better, KUDOS to you and to every work you have put in!!!

Hi
I have flashed official sony ics ftf for my xperia mini and installed a kernel that make my ics rooted
If i go to about in settings i can see this
Kernel :
2.6.32.9-perf
[email protected]#1
Baseband version
8x55a-aaabqqa........etc
I liked ics due to the recent app bottom that i can fc anything .. And the bluetooth visibility i can make it all time ... I liked the browser .. And many things that aren't in gb
My 1st question is there any way or rom to add these things to gb rom ?
.. I tried a lot of games and alot of them didn't work
So i want to downgrade to gb without changing kernel because i can't use pc now
2ed question how can i knew what roms works with my kernel ?
3rd question if i installed wrong rom my phone will brick ? or i can restore the back up that i've just made it at cwm 5.0.2.7
Plzz help me i realy want to downgrade to gb with some useful mods like question 1
Sorry for my newbies questions and my bad English
And if there's a solution for games issue that will solve every thing ..
I think you just have to flash the ftf file for gb firmware. This will take care of the kernel as well.

There is no such thing in ICS. It just removes the app from the Recent Apps list, it doesn't close it. App is closed when Android needs memory.

Ok, this is my face right now ->
I'm not on ICS, but I was definitely sure that pressing and holding Home button you would start a task manager. And I was sure that swiping an app would close it. And that's why I would have never done somthing like that, because I prefer to leave the task managing to the OS.
Can you confirm that's not a task manager?

I respect ur opinion .. But u r wrong
It is like task manager if i move the app to the left or right it will fc
Try it i am sure for example i open im+ and login then go to home screen then delete it from recent app in 1 sec(in gb i need to go to running app in setting to fc)
Then i run im+ again it was closed
But in gb the recent app is very stupid .. So i think the developers can change it to a task manager in gb ..

I have a few questions that I was wondering about. *I'm a noob at everything beyond rooting and flashing ROMs, so please don't kill me. Also, I can't post on dev forums, so please don't direct me to a dev forum to ask for help.*
A. Does anyone know if it would be safe to use the CameraFirmware.apk file from the IcyFusion ROM to make the camera functional in Remics UX for SGP 4? It is the same firmware even between ROMs because the physical camera hasn't changed, right?
B. How can I make the physical home button work? Is that involved or are there files I can just copy for a quick fix?
C. I noticed that gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip force closes even after I have flashed it. Which version is recommended for the Remics UX SGP 4 ROM?
Thanks in advance to any help you provide, and tell me if there is somewhere more appropriate for me to post this.
EDIT: I realise now that the United States version has a softkey home button, which is what I intended to say by physical home button.

I don't have a SGP4, so I can't answer all of your questions, but I do know that CameraFirmware.apk has nothing to do with taking pictures. It's just a way to update the.... Camera Firmware.

I found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487073 that "CameraFirmware.apk ... is the actual ROM (if you will) for the camera. Without this, camera.apk is useless."

Well... That list is inaccurate. If you do install it, all it provides is an activity to dump or update the camera firmware. You can verify that on any launcher that allows you to add shortcuts to arbitrary activities. If it is needed for any camera app, it is only on stock roms. For example, the SGP5 has that apk on stock, but the camera works in cm10 without it

Alright. Thanks for that clarification. Do you have any idea where to get started on the other problems, even if it isn't device specific?

Getting buttons to work is a kernel configuration issue. For GAPPS, make sure /system has enough space, and try flashing other ICS packages.

That is, you must recompile the kernel with PALLADIO_USA enabled or disabled depending on if you have a usa model.
well to get straight to the point here's a quick patch for those that are having issues with the circle button acting as back button. This patch is also known as the ALT Modifier fix. Also added, the R button should be to take a picture ONLY when in camera mode! it will NOT call the camera app.
I think this patch may be already out their I think for ICS this one is for GB. I have only tested this on Stock based & turbo miui GE ROMS but i think it should work on CM based as well (if someone can confirm that will be nice) download the flashable ZIP file in the attachments. I also maid my installer look a little better
great work.:good:

it might work on ics+ but im not entirely sure, that would depend on how much code has been changed and also i dont think this zip is KK flashable. I also dont have a play anymore to test it, unfortunately all i can say is make sure to do ful backup and try flashing it.
