[Q] HTC ONE X+ wont boot - HTC One X+

Hi guys,
My HTC ONE X+ was running out of battery yesterday and once it died - it cannot charge anymore; in fact it doesn't show any sign of life at all even the LED that usually flashes when charging doesn't turn on.
I just spoke with Vodafone and they told me it needs service. However, their policy is that when serviced all the data on the phone will be wiped out. Being the idiot I am - I have no back up. The data on this phone is priceless for me, its all the contacts, photos and conversations for my last year and a half. Can you help? Even a referral to some dodgy repair shop that would attempt to help me would be great. Btw I#m in London.
Thanks guys!

What all have you done to the phone ? This happened to me yesterday and I freaked out. Turns out it was setcpu. I have the att version and it doesn't seem to like being underclock to 1 Mhz and set on powersave governor. The phone would not charge and no led lights came on + my battery did die. What I did to get it back was plug it in and hold the power buttons for a while. The softkeys will start to blink then the charging led came on. I started to panic because I just bought this phone from eBay and I just didn't know what I would do if the phone was faulty. I hope everything turns out ok.

I have not really done anything to it. I'm not a developer or anything. I've dropped it a couple of times, but not in the last couple of months and this came out of nowhere.
My case seems to be similar to yours though, because when that happened the power saver was indeed on. Which keys did you press and how long for? Ive tried a lot of combinations from forums, but nothing seems to help. Damn it, I need this data badly! Thanks.

I plugged it in and held down the power button(for over 10 seconds). The softkeys started blinking and I still held it down until the charging led came on.

Doesn't work for me. Any idea how I can get the data out of a dead One X+ anyone?

Can anyone tell me if a Jtag boot repair is worth a shot?

I had the same problem with my one x AND one x+
I solved it by charging an hour and start into hboot as soon as the led stopped blinking
Try to press your volume down AND power button same time until the lower bar starts blinkin and the light hboot screen is started. Go into fastboot mode ... Step down to power down. Press power button... done.

And in addition to that..
Do you know someone who can exchange the battery? If yes you can safe the data and xor phone.

YESS it worked! I went and bought a cheap micro usb cable. Charged it for a while and then power button + volume down button and its fixed!!!

[Q] problems with power button "waking" the phone

any one else having a problem with the power button not waking the phone.. i press it and its un responsive have to press it 3-4 times to come on and some times it it wont come on at all have to do a battery pull....
I've had this problem but only one time, haven't been able to recreate it, customer service said it was most likely a one time thing. When you couldn't unlock your phone and battery pulled could you turn it on? The first time I tried it wouldn't work and there was a red led but I gave it 5 min and then pulled again and it worked fine.

And did not see a red light

Just buy "Widget Locker" and use the Easy Lock Mode which will allow you to wake the phone with the volume rocker

[q] htc amaze bricked?

was running quicksense from about january dont know exactly which version.
phone completely died on me,
connected it to the charger and it turned on to the green "htc" logo,
but then it turns off..
so i tried booting to recover; holding volume down + power, with no luck.
tried it via connected to computer, no luck.
with & without batter still nothing..
weird thing is, SOMETIMES the charging light will keep blinking.
also SOMETIMES, the screen stays off, and the vibration feedback when pressing the home, menu, back, and search keys, virbates..
do i have the first bricked amaze or what?
--the search key "restarts the phone"
i can tell because the keys no longer make the phone vibrate when pressed after pressing the search key.
I'm betting my money on you having a earlier recovery installed that doesn't allow proper boot if the battery is dead... crappy part about that? it doesn't let the battery charge either... Find someone with an Amaze, or Sensation, charge your battery in their phone for 30 minutes, then try your phone again. Also, after your phone is charged, you probably want to reflash your recovery to a new one that doesn't exhibit this problem.
*just a wild guess, but it makes sense, it's happened to me*
*note, you could just have unrelated catastrophic hardware failure, lol*
As long as you have s - off you can't brick it.

S-Off isn't possible right now, S-On-Unlocked is safe. although having the recovery that doesn't support charging is like a temp-brick. You just need to charge your battery in another phone.
Or splice the battery directly to the wires for half an hour. That's how I charged when my charging port was the broked
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
Can you at least get into adb? You could try accessing it and then using adb to reboot into bootloader/recovery via "abd reboot recovery" or "adb reboot bootloader"
Did this get resolved? Just wanted to know if my hunch was right.
It sounds like a dead battery. The blinking light means (from my experience) that its charging but not enough juice to use yet. Once my phone died and it blinked for a couple of minutes. I tried turning on, but battery wasn't juiced enough. After a few minutes, the light turned solid and was charging and had enough power to turn on.
I would try a new battery. Good news is you're not bricked, and most likely, not even soft bricked

thank you guys for all your replies,

Amazing Brick
I've had a very similar issue to those mentioned here. I have the latest cwm recovery installed (five point something). After wiping battery stats my amaze went into a cycle of booting up normally then automatically restarting after about 30 seconds. Now it shows the amber light while charging, but will not boot at all, not even into recovery. adb says device not recognized, and the amber light flashes periodically and shuts off if i press the power button... should I trash this phone and get a galaxy s II ?

Does the phone charge when you plug it in?

[Q] Evo LTE wont turn on. Help?

Purchased My EVO LTE this morning. Walked out of the store about 11am.
Placed it on the charger after setting up.
Started to use it (full battery) this afternoon for about 20 minutes. Sense restarted a few times, and Had a spontaneous reboot. After reboot the phone was acting odd so I decided to power down all the way. Before the power down the battery indicator was still on full. The phone was cool to the touch.
Now, the phone will not power on. The charging light will not illuminate when plugged in. Have tried holding power button 15 seconds, and a few other button combinations. Is there any help, for this other than a new phone?
I would take it back to the store you got it at and just get a new one. Sounds like a BAD EGG
Ouch. At least 1 other person experienced the sane thing,...with 2 devices in a row. Did you put an SD card in it yet?
sent from my Evo LTE, usually.
Put in SD card before first power up. Saw the SD just fine. Already tried pulling the SD card.

Might be totally pointless but have you tried holding the power button down for over 20 seconds? I read in one of the user guides that if you hold it for 20 seconds the soft keys will start to flash, once they stop flashing release the power button and it should reboot. Like I said, it might not work but still worth a shot.

Fixed ( Sort of )
Got My EVO LTE to turn on finally.
Solution: Put it in the freezer.
Phone had been dead for several hours.
Directly before putting it in everything to get it going was a NO.
Let it chill..... and power button turned it on.
So more than likely the problem is battery related or battery ribbon cable related?
What else would cold effect?
I had two from the same store do the exact same thing.
I had last nights replacement again replaced but this time from a store 100 miles away.
Different hardware version and absolutely no issues now.
Your newest is he 004? This phone is 003.
Sometimes very slow to wake. Also sometimes touchscreen not responsive. Aka ring won't move to unlock.. But at least it turned on again

Update:
Phone worked ok for a bit when it finally came back on. Sometimes it would lag on powerup on the lockscreen aka ring wouldnt move then 45 sec later it would unlock so it was getting the touch input. then Got it hot with heavy use etc. Then at about 60% battery on the second charge after it came alive again, it started acting slow. Wifi connectivity problems etc. Speed test was 30mbit by 5 mbit on wifi at first boot. Went to unresponsive websitefis on wifi and 1mbit by 600k on speedtest when acting up. 3g connectivity was fine. and wifi on / off and or airplane mode didnt fix it. speedtest to same server on same wifi via laptop when phone slow got 39mbit by 5mbit.
Not that the other wierdness matters, anyhow...... Turned it off again and it turned into a brick same as before.
My wifes LTE runs like a champ though.

You tried holding the power button down for 20 seconds until the buttons light up?
I had a issue after the unlock where it wouldn't power on, or charge. But finally got it turned on after various different combo's and I think long holding the power button worked.

[Q] Phone turned off, won't turn on:

All:
Tonight my 4GLTE was plugged into it's charging cord and was at about 95% battery. I received a phone call, picked up the phone and pushed "answer". When I did the phone turned off and it won't turn back on. I've tried the "on & down volume" many times and nothing will happen. When I plug the power cord in the charging light isn't coming on.
I have had no problems with the phone. I'm on the Tranquility ROM and everything has been perfect. When I went through the S-off process back in Dec. the phone "bricked", it acted exactly like the phone is now, will not turn on, no lights come on, nothing. The great people at Dirty Racun walked me step by step through their procedure to unbrick the phone and it started up and has been perfect from Dec. til tonight.
I'm baffled and wish like hell this phone had a battery I could pull. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
thanks,
DC

I know is very frustating cause It's happened to me as well.
I did some searching and found some tips. Nothing solid.
Leave the phone charging even though the led doesn't turn one. Sometimes for me it will revive after a while being plugged.
Other is to hold the power button for a very long time. 1-2 minutes and hope it reboots.

Nothing lights up, that's why I described it as being dead. I'm not a novice with these phones as far as rooting and installing ROMs etc. One item I left out last night is that in the last few weeks I've had to "move" the micro usb connector around to get the charge light to come on. It would always light up and charge but had probably gotten worse, not better. Also I have my Evo4G (which I just activated so I have a phone) and with this charge cord I also have to move it around to get it to activate the charging light. I'm going to buy a fresh micro usb cord this morning in the hope that the new cord will make a difference.
I'm really not optimistic that a new cord will change anything. I declined to buy the insurance for the phone when I got it in Dec. I;ve had bad experiences with Sprint and their cost to repair the Evo4G even with the insurance. I think I'm going to install Unix on my netbook again and try the procedure that Dirty Racun walked me through when the phone "bricked" last Dec. They brought it back to life for me although this time I'm afraid it has something to do with the usb port causing the phone to shut off and die. As I said last night, the phone was charged to 95% when the call came in and I picked the phone up and it suddenly went black.
I love this phone and having to go back to the Evo4G is a real step backwards, plus I've got lots of data on the internal SD card of the LTE that I need. I'm in pulling my hair out mode now....thanks for the suggestions, if anyone thinks of anything else please let me know.

Went through this a few days ago. Battery was at 40% and i was playing CSR Racing from the market. Anyways, my phone got super hot so i ended the game and went back to my home screen....few seconds later screen went off and phone was unresponsive. Nothing i did could make it turn on again tried for a few hours. My sister has a evo lte as well so i took apart our phones and switched her battery in place of mine and voila it booted up. Didn't expect the battery to just go out like that.

That's interesting, my battery has been excellent. I do remember a few weeks ago it getting really hot while charging but it's been fine ever since. I've got the phone apart now. I needed to replace the glass screen and bought, what I thought, were replacement parts for the lcd-glass screen. I've just found out from a video that the lcd and glass screen come together as one part. I don't know if I can take the broken one off and install the new glass screen or if I have to buy the lcd and glass. I'm ticked off because the ebay seller claimed this is all I needed to replace a cracked screen OR an unresponsive LCD touchscreen. I'm glad I didn't pay much for the glass.
Thanks for the info about replacing the battery.
DC
Update: I talked with a Sprint rep at a corporate store yesterday and he told me to bring the LTE in and he was certain HTC would fix/replace it under the 12 month warranty as long as there was no physical damage "not turning on could be blamed for". I told him damage didn't cause it to suddenly go black while plugged in at 95% charge when a call came in.
I'll have to replace my screen before taking it in although the truth is my screen had a crack in it for 2 months before this happened and had nothing to do with the phone bricking itself suddenly.
Any updates?
My wife's phone had this happen at a ridiculously inconvenient time.
Here's what to try:
1. Pseudo-Battery-Pull: Hold power button for 15 seconds, this will force the phone to shut down (if it works). Try powering back up. If nothing, then:
2. Hold Volume Up + Volume Down + Power for 2 MINUTES, and then release. That should reset the battery charge logic. (Note: this will only work at all if the phone is truly powered off) If that doesn't work:
3. Disassemble the phone, disconnect the battery. Wait 20 seconds and then reconnect the battery, and reassemble the phone.
Step 3 worked for me. Hope this helps somebody!
Thanks,
Josh

[Q] Battery not responding while plug in? Cannot turn on my phone now!!

Hi everyone. I bought my Xperia Z2 (Taiwan Ver.) in Hong Kong.
It was still OK yesterday and sometimes I charged it,
it didn't detect and it's not charging. This may be the problem of my power line because I changed the other one and it worked.
And I charged it with the problem one and it showed "Charging".
This morning I just couldn't turn on my phone. I tried many plugs, USB lines and it showed nothing. Then I used the dock to charge but it didn't work.
Please help! I don't think they will fix it for free......
These are the symptoms:
1. No response even trying Volume UP + Power button and many other combination for pressing at least 30 seconds each time
2. No response when connecting to PC
3. Plugged into the original charger and couldn't feel any heat from charger nor Z2
4. Tried the red button next to SIM card slot still not working
5. Charged it for a very very long time still no response
PLEASE HELP!
========FIXED========
1.Using mobile charger (5v ~ 2.5A) and remove SIM card and SD card if you have one
2.Plug mobile charger into Z2
3.Press Start button of the charger
4.Nearly the same time press the Power button of Z2 (with Volume Up I guess because I pressed it too)
5.Then Z2 may turn on the red LED light
Tips: I tried so many times, I guess the time of pressing charger and Z2 power button is important because I tried many times /.\ Hope you guys won;t get this problem. And I got this problem is because of drained battery, DON'T EVER LET THE BATTERY'S POWER BE LOWER THEN 10% IS THE SAFEST!
Leave it on charging for a while, its a normal issue when the battery completely depletes. Don't worry.
I'd suggest leaving it on charge all day, do check after 4-6 hours tho.

Thanks I will wait :crying:
But when I use my mobile charger (6600mah) to charge, it didn't show that it is charging as the light of charger will be blinking if it is charging.

Just wait. And use an electric socket for it, or the dock.

Also here should be a small button just below the micro usb port. Try holding that in for ten seconds using a toothpick and then try booting up.

Please help!
I charged it for whole day and it still not worked...
It doesn't even turn on its led light.
I honestly don't know then. I don't actually have the phone yet. I'm kinda out of ideas. Maybe try plugging it into a pc and seeing if anything gets recognised? If not just take it back, it's obviously not right

OK then, thanks and I tried connecting it to PC and no response :crying: :crying:
I don't understand why posting such a problem here on the forum.. would it be easier if you just use the warranty and go to any sony centre near by???!!
of course if you didn't void the warranty
no offence meant. but I see many people complaining even for a small things or complaining about things that can be easily fixed by warranty from Sony..
plus this phone is still not yet available everywhere. so many people don't know about it.. better just go to Sony center..
Good luck

Well I am going to the shop I bought this phone (Not official SONY shop or carrier as Z2 is not available in Hong Kong officially) and let them fix it. I don't know if they are going to send it hack to Taiwan to fit it or fix it themselves (Hope not)
And I post my question here because I think it is better to fix it myself because it takes time to take my phone to the shop and to wait it to get fixed. I am sorry for posting this stupid question and I still hope for another reply to solve my problem.
