hi, a quick guide how to revert from kitkat on xperia ray, should be about the same for most xperia 2011 devices.
if you managed to get to kitkat you will manage to understand this quick guide
pre requirements
1) flashtool
2) original full ics tft file of .587
3) eroot
3) cm10.zip (this what i used to revert to)
1) go to fastboot mode
2) in flashtool select flashmode, select that tft file, and be sure to select no final verification!!!
* you can finish here if you want stock rom
3) let ics load, then enable:
a) develop option->usb debugging
b) xperia-> usb method->msc
c) security-> allow from unknown sources
4) run eroot (one click method) to root your device
5) install x-parts from google play and install cwm recovery
* you can finish here if you want stock rom+root+recovery
6) reboot to fastboot and instal boot.img from the custom rom!!!
7) reboot to recovery and install zip
8) profit...
It is not necessary to flash stock ftf file. Usually when I want to downgrade from cm11, I just flash the respective kernel and do the required wipes (system, data, cache and dalvik cache) and then flash the rom. This method certainly works for me and much easier than always flashing stock ftf.

those steps are really useless if u switch to a custom rom, bcuz
for a) b) c) u dont need this to enter fastboot. only usb debugging may should be needed for flashtool. but i use flashtool like this: prepare all files till it says ''connect device'' then i connect (powered off) device to flashtool AT LEAST. it works on stock ics without ticked usb debugging -for me-
4) & 5) really useless mostly any custom rom comes prerooted. just a waste of time but maybe u add it below ''*finish here if u want stock.ics'' then u can write it for those who want CWM & root on STOCK.ics
anyway thx for ur effort in making this, im sure it helps many , i just also wanna help so dont take this as a complainment
peace
i wrote this after trying to downgrade and failed with other methods.
flash rom from recovery needed older kernel
flashed kernel but than couldnt get to recovery (might flashed wrong kernel though) was stuck on bootloop.
so i wrote this as a fool proof method, would work for many other cases if you have software problems.
Nice guide yes you may add "*finish here if you want rooted stock ICS & cwm" between 5 & 6.

Hi there
The last time sony released the .62 rom when everyone had no root because they have waited that someone builds a custom kernel i thought about rooting my phone but staying on stock .62 kernel.
It is really simple to do that, the only things you need is:
1.A phone with unlocked bootloader
2.Flashtool package of the software you want to root (because of the kernel.sin inside)
3.Any custom kernel with cwm
4.su zip (in atachments)
The first step is that you flash the build version that you want like sony releases a new one then flash it.
second is that you open the ftf file from the software you flashed with 7zip and extract the kernel.sin.
The next step is that you flash a custom firmware of any previous build like the .42 or so or even the cm7 kernel.
You can do this with flashtool or with fastboot.
After you done that boot into recovery go to mounts and storage and mount the sd-card. copy the su.zip to sdcard and unmount the sdcard.
then go back and go to install zip from sdcard.
select the su zip and install it.
power off the device after this is finished.
open flashtool and plug your device into fastboot mode and flash the stock kernel.sin.
after this boot up your device and now you got the newest firmware from sony with root and you don't need to wait for a dev to write a custom kernel
after it booted up you may need to update the superuser binary and the app and install busybox with an busybox installer from the market.
Have fun ^^
If this was usefull for you press the thanks button
Thanks. It works on my wt19i (live with walkman)
how can I make the bootloader?
if i do this, will it reset my system data and phone memory/factory reset???
No it won't reset your data as long as you don't klick on it in recovery :-D
Just stricktly follow the tutorial and you won't have problems

for all now on ics rooting with this works like a charm
ROOT TO ROM IN X10 Mini PRO (from stock ROM or custom ROM)
(thanks to xda developers nobodyAtall, Spyderex, Emperor.dk and many)
updating my earlier post. The complications in installing recovery completely removed. Now it is easy as charm.
I had myself miniCM pro v21 in stock kernal in my x10 mini pro. So this post intends to do on
1. flashing back to custom sony rom
2. rooting (with busy box installing)
3. installing recovery
4. unlocking bootloader
5. flashing custom kernel
6. flashing cutom ROM and google apps
before that : there are many other steps and methods for this but many of them did not work for me. I am describing here what worked for me.
Before starting save all your needed apps using app saver or with my backup root / titanium backup (after root). Back up your account with google account or export your contacts as .vcf to sd card for later import.
You should have through out internet connection and sometimes you would have to switch off the Antivirus to get it done properly. Also allow adb.exe to connect to net through firewall when needed.
1. FLASHING TO CUSTOM ROM WITH SONY ERICSSON PC COMPANION ( if you are having a custom ROM: other wise proceed to next step of rooting)
1. download and install pc companion from here http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...ject/pccompanion/xperiax10minipro?cc=in&lc=en if you are not already having it. Then make it recognize the phone.
2. Select support and update. It may tell having the latest update but go for repair.
3. Follow the commands. This may take a while
4. correctly follow the command to connect the phone in flash mode (switched off and back switch pressed)
later you have your old blue sony rom back.
1. ROOTING
1. download superoneclik.exe from here. http://www.mediafire.com/file/x1l6n7owj7uldbl/SuperOneClick.zip The problem is that many versions do not help and this version did it for me. Unzip and run the .exe
2. Plug the phone and leave it as such (do not charg/ connect or anything)
3. click root and follow the commands when prompted (like want to test?)
4. done (donate if you feel so)
5. Check for the superuser app in menu if it have been rooted.
Then go to market and install
* busybox
* root explorer (just to be on safer side)
3. RECOVERY
found out the easy way. Thanks to devrruti and rect2049 in xda
1. Download this clockworkmod installer from here https://github.com/downloads/react2409/X10-Mini-Pro-Utilities/CWMInstaller-Windows-v4-dl.zip
2. switch on the phone and connect the phone (ensure debugging mode on)
3. unzip the downloaded zip file and run the install.bat file. Follow the instructions
4. now disconnect when finished, switch off phone
5. switch on and when sony logo comes start multiple pressing and releasing the back switch to enter recovery mode
so there is cwm recovery
4. UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
download the flashtool from (0.5.3 -I used) here. http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
1. before advancing further download the required ROM (for me miniCM7 from http://minicm.googlecode.com/files/MiniCM7-2.1.8-mimmi.zip )and google apps from http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip and copy both to the root of sdcard
2. open the install location of flashtool and install the ggsetup-2.2.0.11.exe file inside and install Gordon’s Gate found in /drivers folder
3. then restart the computer, open the task manager and kill any process named adb.exe
4. donot open flashtool after this till needed.
5. Download the s1tool to confirm the unlock certificate of phone from http://db.tt/OrOQO33 and unlocking tools from here http://db.tt/0zUMR5S4
6. Unzip the s1 tool to the designated folder and run the s1.exe. Switch off the phone. Select the Do Job button and wait.
7. Connect the phone in flash mode (switched off and back button pressed)
8. proceed further only if the screen shows semc simlock certificate
9. unplug the phone, switch it phone, connect to the computer
10. run msm7227_semc.cmd in the directory you unzipped the unlocking files to and press any key to start the unlocking process.
11. If everything goes correctly the log will show press any key at the end.
5. CUSTOM KERNEL AND ROM
download the require kernel.ftf from auther’s site (for me the kernel suiting my ROM was nAa kernal from http://minicm.googlecode.com/files/U20_nAa-10_2.6.29.6-nAa-10.ftf
1. copy this to the /firmware folder in flashtool install folder
2. run the flashtool and select flash, then flashmode
3. select the desired kernel
4. switch off the phone and connect in flash mode when pop up requests
5. disconnect phone when the tool says so
6. switch on the phone and enter the recovery mode when kernel logo comes by repeatedly pressing and releasing the back switch
7. in the recovery mode, do a backup from backup and restore option (up and down by volume keys and select by middle switch)
8. do a factory wipe data
9. then flash the ROM zip by selecting the option install zip from sdcard option followed by gapps zip flashing
10. finish this and take reboot (long)
Enjoy the new experience
A guide that can be stickied for newbies. i like this.
You can even modify the thread by giving elaborate colors and headlines and make it attractive. (if you are interested in doing that so)
Appreciate your work bro!
Thanks!

Like it.. But the rooting part is gonna feel complex for newbies... There are flash file which root and install CWM recovery automatically without any complication...
unnecessary rooting and recovery installs
I appreciate what you are trying to do as SpyderX's thread can be daunting. I think it would be easier to keep people using one tool as you go around the houses a bit.
Perhaps a simpler route from stock using S1 tool and flashtool. This is just an overview as I've copied and pasted it from my blog and would need expanding with links and sufficient detail:
Backup part 1 - use apps such as SMS Backup +, Bookmark sort and backup, APN backup and restore
Check that your bootloader can be safely unlocked with S1 tool (download from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19624790&postcount=2)
Turn on USB debugging on the phone (in settings in the applications section)
Use flashtool to root the phone (download from the homepage http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/)
Backup part 2 - use a root backup app (Titanium backup or MyBackup Root)
Use flashtool to unlock the bootloader
Flash the kernel (e.g. nAa kernel) in flashtool
Boot into CWM Recovery (assuming and flash customised firmware (e.g. MiniCM7)

I made exactly the same thread quite ago, I was really motivated and stuff but mods just moved it and got it forgotten in the general section. It even had colors, headlines, sections, collaborators, and stuff, sorry to disappointing you but with staff like this it is impossible to help newbies.. I even explained why post it on the developers section: Strictly, it should have been posted on General, yes, but the guide is directed to new members. Most of them probably doesn't check nor even know there is that section. It got moved anyways without any warning or a single word from the one who did it..
Anyways, good luck.
can anyone make a tutorial about how to install cwm with SE Extreme Tweak Installer v1.8
it says suerimission denied
On which firmware are you? 4.0.2.A.0.62?
Is your device rooted? Because permission denied meens, that you have no root.
If you want to install clockworkmod on lww, check this out. It will automaticly install cwm, but I don't know if it works on locked bootloader...
For SE Tweak installer you could check this out. It's a tutorial
how to root it then?
On which firmware version are you? 4.0.2.A.0.62?
Check out this here
But go to settings -> about phone -> build number and tell which version please!
Simplest Guide to install cmw !
As is usual with most updates, the Sony Ericsson Walkman Live lost root access after its recent update to Android 4.0.4. The guide below will show you how to obtain root access on this device running the 4.1.B.0.431 version of the OS and install ClockworkMod Recovery, enabling you to flash custom ROMs and do other things that require root access.
I. Before You Begin
1. This will not erase any data from your device, but as a precaution, do a backup of what you feel is important just in case.
2. This solution works by flashing a modified kernel that will provide root access. If you are not okay with this, do not proceed any further.
3. You will need a device with an unlocked bootloader for the procedure to work.
{ 4. If you want to install custom rom then download the custom rom and extract it. then there would a boot.img and replace it with the below bootextended blah blah.img } not understood? obviously... read full and then come back to this step.
II. Necessary Downloads
1. boot_EXtendedStockKernel_WT19i.img.
2. Fastboot Files
III. Flashing the Modified Kernel
1. Extract the fastboot-win32.zip file you downloaded above to a folder in your C:\ drive. You should end up with a folder named C:\fastboot-win32 containing fastboot.exe. Rename folder to fastboot for ease.
2. Copy the boot_EXtendedStockKernel_WT19i.img file you downloaded above to the same folder. Rename the file as boot.img for ease
3. Power down your device and put it into Fastboot Mode. To do this, press and hold the Volume Up + Power buttons until it enters the Fastboot mode. Blue led will glow.
3. Open up a Command Prompt window. To do this on your Windows 7 PC, click on the Windows Start button, type cmd in the search box and hit enter.
4. Run the following commands: (Get into . fastboot directory first ):- It should look as this
c:\fastboot\ fastboot flash boot.img
That’s it! You should have a rooted device after a reboot!
pls hit thanks if i helped.!

@OP Please tell us which build number you have! You must go to settings -> About phone -> Build number and tell us the number (or at least the 3 or 2 last numbers). If .42, .58, .62, .69, .432, .578! Otherwise we can't help you
First off, greetings to all. Not trying to hijack the thread but I have a quasi-related question.
Have a LWW WT19i, with Android 4.1.B.0.431 rooted as per the instructions here, with a locked bootloader (unlock allowed: no). I want to install Real ICS r5.2 which states it works with a locked BL, however the instructions ask me to use CWM which I can find no clear tutorial on how to install (most guides suggest installing new kernel).
Any help would be appreciated. Also fini13, if you're as new to this as I am, the guide I listed should help you at least with the rooting.

This tutorial is on how to recover the touch screen of your sony xperia 2011 mdpi device. I didn't find out any of these methods, I've just included all links and methods here to have one thread with everything in, because in Q&A are so many threads on this topic and all the people asking the same questions!
First of all:
You need Flashtool installed and you should have installed all the drivers from flashtool folder -> drivers. For all methods where you have to flash a custom kernel you need an unlocked bootloader. Just remember that
Fix 1: By Flashing Xperia Active Rom: (Credits: xshanep19; here; discussing thread by officiallysonyrebel here)
Steps:
1. Download xperia active stock rom for gingerbread 4.0.2.A.0.42-(CE)
2. Place it in flashtool folder -> firmwares
3. Lauch flashtool
4. Click the flash -> flashmode -> select the active ftf -> click okay
5. Shut down phone -> wait 15 seconds -> hold volume down -> while holding volume down connect it to your pc
6. Wait until flashing has ended
7. Unplug phone an start it (hope it starts)
8. Turn phone off -> connect in flashmode like before -> flash the firmware for your device
9. Boot up and hope the touch will work again
Fix 2: By Installing Hybrom: (Credits: n_tienloi ; here)

5. Flash Ultimate HD 2.0.2 again, but choose YOUR device
6. Don't turn your phone on, just pull the battery
7. Flash the stock rom for your device using flashtool
Fix 3: By Installing wrong rom again and flash stock rom: (Credits: scorpion 13; here)
Steps:
1. Flash your devices gb 4.0.2.A.0.62 rom
2. Flash rage kernel -> boot in cwm
3. Flash the wrong rom again
4. Reboot -> if it's not booting or in a bootloop pull battery
5. Flash your device's stock rom with flashtool again
Fix 4: By Flashing Hybrom_v10: (Credits: javad01; here)
Steps:
1. Flash your device's stock gingerbread rom (4.0.2.A.0.62) with flashtool
2. Flash a custom kernel with cwm you like (e.g. rage kernel)

Steps:
1. Flash .62 firmware for your device
2. Flash rage kernel for gingerbread
3. Flash Real ICS R6 rom (choose the wrong device)
4. Reboot (don't pull the battery, boot it. If it's no booting for nearly 3 minutes, pull battery and go on)
5. Flash the stock firmware for your device
6. Touch should work now!
Fix 10: By modifying the touchscreen files: (Credits: bangladeshi ; here)
Steps:
Please follow the steps in the guide. It's best to use the tutorial here. It's better reading it there and using the screenshots for more help instead of just reading the steps here
Some fixes are for special devices, but you can try them on yours, too (e.g. fix 1 for minipro, fix 2 for all, fix 3 for all, fix 4 for mini, fix 5 for all, 6 for all, 7 for minipro, 8 minipro, 9 all, 10 minipro)!
I can't promise they are all working, you try all of them at your own risk!!
If there are more methods, please write me a PM and I will add them. Of course hit thanks on the links I included to every method :good:
Please hit thanks to the guys who found out these methods, it was their work!!

Re: [How-To] Fix Broken Touchscreen of xperia 2011 mdpi devices
I managed to fix my touchscreen like two weeks back after playing flash rom flash rom for half the day and now I see this thread lol.....
Device: WT19i
Rom: Zelly Cream 2.0 [MDPI]
Kernel : Lupas v3
Found a "workaround" for sk17i devices
Hi all,
After trying every provided solution on this board without any real progress or even success, i found a little trick to get both touchscreen and h/w keyboard working on my SK17i.
You need for that any custom rom with a aroma installer, and the corresponding file provided from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690889 thanks to ameer1234567890 for sharing those files, and kernel according to the firmware you want to install
1. Install Kernel (for me it was rage kernel)
2. Install via CWM the firmware you want (has to be with an aroma installer) (for me it was Zelly Cream)
3. Choose in aroma st17i instead of sk17i
4. Reboot after installation completed..
5. Wait until phone is fully present. touchscreen should now work but h/w keyboard not
5. Reboot again into CWM install "keymap_for_pro_XXXX.zip
6. Reboot phone again.. Now keyboard an touchscreen should be working. Also options for h/w keyboard should appear now.
Good luck,
I had this "bricked" touch for 6 weeks..
But now..
After trying all day this is my conclusion that ROM with aroma have come drivers in Active ROM that fixes this problem. anyone developer wanna look into it?
Fixed it
this one worked on mine

Fix 2: By Installing Hybrom: (Credits: n_tienloi ; here)
Steps:
1. Download CM10 kernel or rage kernel
2. Flash the kernel
3. Flash Ultimate HD 2.0.2 rom and choose the one for active
4. Turn phone on and wait 5 minutes (phone won't boot up because it's in a bootloop)
3. Flash Hybrom v10 for mini pro
4. Boot the rom
5. If it's not booting and having a bootloop pull battery
6. Flash stock rom again with flashtool
Fix 5: By Installing Cyanogenmod 9/10: (Credits: chotu222 ; here)
Steps:
1. Download Cyanogenmod 9 or Cyanogenmod 10
2. Put it on your sdcard
3. wipe everything in cwm
4. Flash Cyanogenmod
5. Boot your device until you can see the homescreen
6. Flash any rom you want
Fix 6: By Installing Ultimate HD 2.0.2 and Cyanogenmod 10: (Credits: ujwals ; here)
Steps:
1. Download rage kernel for Android 4.0.4
2. Flash rage kernel
3. Boot into recovery and flash Ultimate HD 2.0.2 rom, but choose the one for xperia active
4. Boot the rom (touchscreen is working, but hardware keyboard and proximity sensor not)
5. Flash the cyanogenmod 10 kernel
6. Boot into recovery and flash cyanogenmod 10 for your device without doing a wipe data/factory reset before!
7. Reboot and touchscreen should work
(8. Flash stock sony rom using flashtool)
Fix 7: By using any aroma installer rom: (Credits: drlrille ; here)
Steps:
1. Flash rage kernel
2. Install any rom that uses aroma installer (for example zelly cream)
3. Choose in aroma st17i (active) instead of sk17i (mini pro)
4. Reboot your device
5. Wait until the phone has booted, the touchscreen should work now. The hardware keyboard won't work!
5. Reboot again into recovery and install "keymap_for_pro_XXXX.zip"
6. Reboot phone again. Now keyboard an touchscreen should be working!
(7. Flash stock sony rom using flashtool)
Some fixes are for special devices, but you can try them on yours, too (e.g. fix 1 for minipro, fix 2 for all, fix 3 for all, fix 4 for mini, fix 5 for all, 6 for all, 7 for minipro)!
I can't promise they are all working, you try all of them at your own risk!!
If there are more methods, please write me a PM and I will add them. Of course hit thanks on the links I included to every method :good:
Please hit thanks to the guys who found out these methods, it was their work!!

Are you oN 6.1.1.b.1.54 or .10??
1: hv flashtool
2: hv ics ftf
3:both. 54 nd .10 krnels
4: flash nt fastboot. 10 kernel root.
via binary ver 18.7
5:install recovery for locked boatloaders
6: revert back to. 54 kernel
Tadaaa u r rooted
Sent from my MT27i using xda premium
Problem
I have problems too. Stock ICS Xperia Sola. Trying to root with Bin4ry's bat file. I have tried to make it work using any version but it denies. Ex. : v9 :
I can restore RootMe but after rebbot command line just says that it doesn't have permission to mount.
v31:
RootMe doesn't even exist. Used both special- xperia mode and normal new. Nothing, no popup no backup but phone reboots.
Any help ?
IMHO easiest method for rooting is flashing prerooted kernel.
1. download fastboot
2. find some prerooted kernel in sola development thread and put it into fastboot folder
3. flash kernel
phone should be rooted, many prerooted kernels come with cwm recovery so you don't need to install it separately
Hi guys,
As said by lwd8cmd, flash a kernel custom, they are pre rooted (need bootloader unlocked).
It takes 10 seconds to download and flash.
But if your bootloader is locked you need to :
-flash .10 stck kernel
-root
-reflash .54 stock kernel
When your bootloader is unlocked, the life is more simple
xperia sola root
i want to root my sola which is 4.0.4 and kernel is 6.1.1.b.1.54
give me required software and all the detail...because i dont have done this kind of things ever

Please do like anybody, follow the tuto on xda.
You need to know that you can't APPLY the root script when you run .54 kernel, so:
-flash .10 stck kernel with flashtool
-reboot and root
-flash .54 stock kernel with flashtool and the root stay
