best AOSP Rom? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Since this Rom will be dual booted (my main touchwiz primary Rom and this secondary AOSP rom), I want to find a fun AOSP Rom to mess around with. Can anyone suggest a 4.4. (Kitkat) rom that is packed with features in it. I remember hearing some rooms have multi window support? Anything like that would be awesome.

Best rom threads will be locked, try them all and see which ones you like.

Because of what the guy above stated, you need to try out ROMs for yourself to figure out what is best for YOU, also there have been many many threads asking this exact thing and they always get locked. I'll give you one option for aosp.......Vanir ROM.

[Q] What is the best/most popular ROM for the SIII right now?

I won't get my device for a couple more weeks. I plan on running stock TW for a couple weeks but I'm sure I'll want to flash something. Is Omega the hot ROM right now? Anything in the works I should keep my eye on?

Best one is to try all of them, and find what you really like most *kaching*

Tw5 is really good... this time. A few tweaks with custom kernels to do battery justice
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
After trying some kernels and ROMs
I prefer Wanam Lite + stock
I have 64GB SanDisk SDXC card, some kernels can't mount it, i have to manually format it to FAT32, which i don't want to

GApps required for Note 2

So I'm not entirely sure there is a thread already on this and apologize if there is, but I'm not seeing an additional file to download when installing custom ROMs which I'm accustomed to with the Galaxy Nexus. Are the GApps baked into the ROMs? Thanks. Or is it because there aren't any (or many I should say) AOSP ROMs?

Gapps are available in each aosp ROMs thread.

Yep. Also they are already included in the TW based so do not flash another one when using these.

Also when flashing Gapps make sure you flash the most recent version.

Right on. I figured they were baked in with the TW roms. Especially since the size is so big.

A few questions.....

Hey guys dont rip me here because I think I am being too cautious... I had a tmobile note 2 since it was released then I recently switched to verizon. I am wanting to know what I should do when rooting I see the thread on it but am confused about a few things.
1. If I unlock can I use both tw and aosp roms? Because from directions it seems unlock is only needed for aosp
2. Do I have to swich between cwm and twrp in between flashing the tw or aosp.
3. Thanks for any of your help it is greatly appreciated

You need to unlock for any ROM, and you can use either recovery for any ROM.

4.4 ROM?

Anyone know when we'll see the first stock Google ROM for our Verizon s4? Or any developers out there working on one? Want one bad!

(Patience is key) I think some developers are working on it now, but it is a challenge to port a new version of stock android on to the jfltevzw because the device is different than your average nexus device. Then you also have to take in the fact that devs are working on other projects on the moment and wish not to abandoned them.
Thank you for the post. And I do understand that. Very anxious!

[Q] Safestrap and AOSP

Why do AOSP ROMs not work with Safestrap?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Because the bootloadet is looking for the stock legit firmware signature., without unlock we can't change the stock I'd OR tell it don't look for stock Id anymore. This is simpliest explanation.

Couldn't explain it better

Well, until kexec gets figured out, safestrap only allows us to use the stock kernel... which only lets us run touchwiz. If we could run other kernels, AOSP wouldn't be out of reach.
