I am considering to buy LG Optimus G E970 Unlocked from USA.
Request all owners to kindly suggest me if this is worth buying?
My query is about
battery life
build quality
screen display
performance, etc.
Pl advice.

Ok I'll give you my 2 cents:
Battery Life: From good to meh depending on usage and rom. Had problems with wakelocks in the past which didn't let my phone go to deep sleep, problems went away after flahing EG8 rom(stock modded rom, I like LG's UI)
Build Quality: This phone is GORGEOUS! LG really knows how to make phones. Mine has fallen a few times and has survived without problems, might want to get a case though.
Screen display: screen is IPS which is good, better viewing angles than my previous phone(an xperia ION) colors are nice and punchy.
Performance: This is my first "superphone" as antutu calls it, the phone is very snappy. I can run pretty much anything and havent experienced lag. Tweak it further with a custom kernel and you can get even better performance or even better battery life.
Camera: coming from sony I must say i'm a bit disappointed. The 8MP on this phone isn't bad, I just find it lacking some features (really miss the honami ported cam app from my ION). I've managed to get some good shots though, and with apps like camera FV you can get some really decent pics and effects(I played with long exposure during christmas, got some really nice light trails).
Modding:Rooting is easy, unlocking the bootloader is VERY easy, installing custom recoveries is also easy. Flashing with LNGPST (LG's flashtool) can be a bit tricky though. There are quite a few stock based roms as well as 4.3/4.4 roms to choose from.
Overall: This phone can be bought new on amazon and ebay for a little over $200, for that price you get a very good bang for buck. Shame LG isn't updating this phone to 4.3 or 4.4, .
thanks for review
but battery life is more important to as I'm online every time.

I Haven't tweaked it enough for it, but honestly i dont think so. Guess it depends on usage(I do heavy ingress gaming, plus PVZ2 and Dead trigger 2 as well as music and social media).

Gentle use (Web browsing / Facebook / forums) with a good ROM you can see 4+ hours screen on with 20+ hours up time. That gets me through a day easily. With gaming or especially ingress in more than small amounts, there are very few options to get a whole day from any phone. I carry an external battery for ingress sessions.

I carry a car charger for my ingress runs, pretty much all activity here has to be done by car(Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Central America), Go Resistance!
Back on topic:
If you need something with a bigger battery you might want to go with the G Pro. The AT&T variant is reasonably priced (around $300) and has a beefier battery and bigger screen.
Battery : With stock ROM and Zero Tweaks , you'll not obtain a very good battery life. It can sustain a day , though with light to moderate usage.
When you install modded apps , and custom roms , or patches to improve battery life , then the phone can easily last two days with light use.
For me , I am using couple of tweaks , and now my phone can easily stretch up to two days on one charge.
However , once you set all the 4 cores ablaze , i.e. turn on performance mode , and start playing HD games and running intensive tasks , the battery drains quite quickly. But still is considerably okay.
So for battery life , I would say it's not on the high end but it's not that bad either. It's okay.
Camera : To be honest , the camera results are poor. Not acceptable enough from a 8mp shooter with such a powerful engine. I have had Nokia N95 , Atrix 4g , and couple of other 5-8mp shooters , but the results are pretty much the same despite this one being newer in terms of technology.
I am using some tweaked camera profile settings , and it seems to drive somewhat better results , but still not to be called anything better than acceptable.
If you are planning to use default Stock ROM camera app , then let me tell you that this one has hard time concentrating and focusing .
Display: If I were to explain this is one word , I would say - Awesome!!!!!
Yeah , this is one of those smartphones with best display technologies and color reproduction. The color reproduced are bright , natural and very realistic. The screen has excellent contrast ratios , despite being a non-amoled unit.
At low brightness the display really goes dark enough , and high brightness , the white appears very true , which I think is good.
The sunlight legibility is good , but only at highest brightness settings.
Touchscreen response is really good.
Cons : Highly reflective surface of the display , weak and prone to cracks.
Performance : This is the part of story where this beast outperformed every competitor it had in it's class. It's really fast and snappy.
Krait is known for their performance , and this one has 4 of them running at 1.5Ghz each , with a powerful Adreno 320GPU which can sufficiently drive that gorgeous 720p Display.
I never felt anything that can be called lag relating to lack of sufficient hardware. The UI is almost fluid , and beautiful.
I have played heavy games , like Asphalt 8 , ShadowGun , NFS MW , Strike Team , MC4 , etc and the performance was nothing less that fluid. Never felt a jitter in performance.
Though , the phone heats up a little bit. You can either relate that to the all front and rear glass design that traps the heat generated. It doesn't really heats up like hell , but still you can feel the temps. after playing 20-25mins of HD games.
2GB of ram is more than sufficient at present scenario. Plus the introduction of Kitkat has even lowered that demand , though I am not really sure if LG's going to deliver Kitkat to this previous flagship device.
Build Quality : Excellent but Prone to Cracks and Death by Fall due to all glass design.
Yeah , this one is one hell of a gorgeous phone if you love workmanship. This one sports gorilla glass at front and rear! Yeah it's glass at back. . It's a thing to be proud of as well as to be concerned of at the same time.
There have been reports that the glass at back is not as strong as LG says it should be. It's prone to developing cracks at random places , either by slight pressure or by heat build up.
So if you are planning to buy this phone , then please be sure not to drop it , because that is guaranteed spider art at the rear .
Or else buy a protective case , which really does it's job. Trust me , you are going to need it one day.
Other then the glass menace , the rest of the phone is excellent as far as build quality is concerned. It looks beautiful too.Slim profile and sexy looks.
Speakers : Outstanding , and loud enough for you to not miss your notifications and calls even in the loudest environments. It scores a lot more than almost all of the flagship smartphones when it comes to loudness.
However , the good thing to notice is that despite of being so loud , the clarity is outstanding. It's crystal clear and never feels like a broken pipe even at highest levels.
Network reception : it's quite effective and good. Since , LG has used rear-glass so its even better.
Can receive signals even in the darkest corners , but I have used phones with better signal reception , like Nokia and Motorola based phones.
Call quality - Call quality is very good. The microphone records , crystal clear sound , and the phone's call earpiece is very loud and clear. But at higher levels it feels a bit blown.
User Interface : Well the stock UI is really attractive , and extremely fluid. There are hell lots of bloatwares though on the At&T variant.
I have tried several ROMS , but I am still with Stock UI as I am still in love with it.
Ease of use : Well this one is a Nexus's kin. ( Nexus 4 ) , So expect a lot from it. They share a lot of similarities , and that leaves you with lots of possibilities. There was a time , when people even converted their OG into a fully blown Nexus 4 . ( You heard me right.) Though , its recommended any longer , because of risks involved and the availability of Nexus roms in heaps. ( And they are good too. Thanks to the Devs.)
The phone is easy to root , unlock and install custom roms.
The LG phones are notorious for not having huge community , but still this one being close to Nexus 4 , received better support . Yeah , there are good members here , who have lot to say.
Even if you land in trouble , there are devs who have found out a method to resurrect your phone damn easily . That Potion Of Life is known by the Name "LGNPST" . It's the potion of life for OG ,and the favorite among LGOG community. At least in my consideration it is . I am sure others will agree too.
Let me know if there's a part which I missed in my views about this phone.
Excellent review @Rishi.

Well I've had mine for only a few days now so I don't think I can rate the battery for now.
Battery Life - ?
Speed - 4
Performance - 4
Build Quality 4
Overall 4.5
PROS -
Great camera in daylight conditions
Stunning design (mine is white)
Display Sharpness and the vibrant colors
Effortless performance
Beautiful UI
Good Audio Quality for a smartphone
Fast Capture is helpful
Build Quality is commendable since its all plastic
Matte Finish on the body and the anti stain coating
Front Camera is awesome
Clear and loud call quality
GPS performance is good
CONS
Some lag here and there at times
Android 4.0 still 2 or 3 weeks away
Camera is almost useless in low light conditions
Touch sensitive buttons can get quite irritating sometimes
Though SQ is good, volume could be higher
Screen could have done with more contrast. Blacks are Greyish
Battery Life 4
Speed 5
Performance 4
Build quality 5
Overall 4
Pro:
-fast and accurate gps
-Stock firmware (73) is quite "okay"
-Good cam quality overall (except the noise)
-HDMI out with TV Program software works good
-Phone is a lightweight compared to others
-Screen protector by factory
Contra:
-Non-removable battery
-screen contrast could be much better
-sony data cable / microusb cable is "cornered" at phone's end. That is idiotic.
-Autobrightness doesn't work - for me ( stock 73)
Gesendet von meinem LT26i mit Tapatalk 2
Battery Life -5 (.73 fixes the issues, and it could only get better)
Speed - 5 (I still have sometimes a hiccup or two, but that can be android itself of the junk I install, so I will keep it at 5 )
Performance- 5 (same reason as above)
Build quality- 4 (build could aways be better, its a sturdy device but not as durable as it could be I think)
Overall - 4.7
Pros:
Beautiful Design, I find it a really unique device
Screen is fantastic
Blazing fast. I love the speed combined with the Sony UI, I used to use launcher pro, but I can't bring myself to replace the default launcher.
Cons:
The screen problems in some devices, I feel they could have taken more care with assembly.
The port flaps, I am still not sure if this is a real con, as they are really sturdy (unlike the X10 cover, which broke off in the end) and they just need to be worn in I guess :/.
Gingerbread, though that also I wouldn't really consider a con, as the update is coming, and I am in no rush really (coming from the X10 I'm used to waiting, heh)
I know this is more to taste, but I find the default NFC app could be better, and I wish (I'm assuming they did this to mostly prevent piracy) the extra apps (PS store, music/movie unlimited) had support worldwide, as it was one of the boasted selling features.
I love this phone, and definitely recommend it. It is in my opinion one to look out for, especially when it gets ICS. I am more than happy to have this for the next two years (got it on contract). I know Sony gets criticism for not using the top of the line tech, but in terms of design, I think they are ahead of the market, and I am curious how next years device will look.
Battery Life - 4
Speed - 4
Performance - 4
Build quality - 3
Overall 3.5
Pros
High resolution, sharp display
Stylish ui
Sound quality
Camera
Design
GPS locks really fast
Wireless signal of wifi and 3g network
Charges fast
Performance overall is good
Cons
Quality control, many early models have yellow stains on screen
Casing has a lot of seams and edges. Makes it feel cheap, hope it is just sloppy work on earlier models.
Warranty service. To fix the yellow tint and casing I'll probably lose it for a month
Call volume is a bit low
Screen viewing angels are poor
Colour temprature of the screen is a bit off, too cold.
Placement of usb/hdmi port

I've had mine for over a month so can safely judge.
Battery life 1
Can't stand the fact the phone depletes so much even on standby.
Speed 4.5
Most things happen near enough instantly
Performance 3
Mainly because I can't stand the UI performance and the poor scrolling especially in web browser. What's this 2010? Come on Sony, you can surely do better. Galaxy S2 is a year older with buttery smooth transitions and scrolling.
Build quality 4.5
Feels solid and premium. Could have done with a bit more chrome to soften things up though. Also very doggy back cover that doesn't seem to fit properly,
Overall 3.25
That's just about right in my opinion. The phone needs better software and optimization. I'm happy with it for now. Don't know if I'll be happy with it for two years however,

- Battery life 4,5: good idle battery drain (0,5 - 0,7% per hour)
- Speed 5: everything happens very fast once you customised and tweaked the stock .73 rom
- Performance 4.5: after tweaking it's fast, even no lag when opening contacts app but I know ICS will increase performance even more
- Build quality: 4.5: I really like the design and quality of the phone, it's not heavy and pretty scratch resistant
- Overall: 4.6: Sony gave is a really good phone which is fast and smooth. It doesn't feel like a cheap phone like Samsung phones, and the design is really amazing. And last but not least, it's very nice to develop for this phone

Custom ROMs > Stock ROM
Hello All,
I've had my LT26i for a few days now, and you know of course how it is when you get a new piece of IT equipment for an IT guy... Tried this and that, tried different ROMs, now eagerly waiting for CM9 RC1, wona know what it looks like at least and what it's capable of. Failed to install RC0, tried all the possible ways, but can't pass the boot screen. Doing something wrong of course, but...
In any case, the Stock ROM has too much extra IMHO. Apps that i can't remove and will never use annoy me... Knowing that uninstalling will free up some RAM and cut down the number of running processes, knowing that tweaking LEDs, WIFI management will increase the battery life, etc. forced me to star searching for a custom ROM that will suit me the same day I got my phone.
So I would rate the Stock ROM the following:
Battery Life - 3 (really runs out faster then expected)
Speed - 4 (boot up could be faster, opening apps is OK tho)
Performance - 4 (screen sometime freezes for a millisecond when sliding the desktops)
Build quality - 4 (being not able to delete stuff I don't need freaked me out... Why am I a guest in my phone?)
Overall - 4 (would be 3, but it's my new phone, got to like it )
And the ROM that I am using now (KA05 Xperia SSpeed by krabappel2548 on DooMKernel v03a by DooMLoRD):
Battery Life - 5 (Impressed)
Speed - 5 (No complains here at all)
Performance - 5 (Extra functionality such as better camera and volume buttons wake the screen)
Build quality - 4 (no crashes or anything, but can't install apps from my phone, have to do it from the PC)
Overall - 5 (I am much more happy using my SXS now)
There are other Custom ROMs, some focus on the GUI, some on the speed... All of them are definitely worth to be installed.
I really appreciate the work of all the guys working hard to get us better Android Distros.
P.S.: Yes, I did lose my warranty when I rooted my phone. Yes, I did have problems installing prerequisite ROMs and Booters and all. But now I have a much better understanding how my phone functions and I have a better Android Distro. I AM NOT PUSHING ANYONE TO GO CUSTOM, AS IT IS DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT YOU ARE DOING.
P.P.S.: If anyone managed to install the CM9 RC0, please post a video on YouTube so that we at least know what it looks like.
After using my new Xperia Z Ultra for a full day here's what I think.... (BTW I've come from Note 1 Note 2 and a 10.1 tablet)
Forget all the negative stuff you read, this is a stonking good phone.
Speed - Amazing - No lag and everything opens and runs FAST!
Sound - Very good (most of the time I have it turned down as it's loud)
Screen - Awesome - More natural than the Galaxy screens and much better in direct sunlight (Good for Australia)
Camera - Not so good, I've loaded Camera Zoom fx and the improvement is huge. Close to the Note 2
Battery - Good - Sitting at 25% after 9.5 hours. This is only the first full charge so I'm hoping battery life could get better. Take in to account that being the first use I have been loading apps, updating data plus playing games, vids and a lot of surfing.
All in all I'd give it a 10/10 and it beats the Note 2 hands down, and having had a quick play with a Note 3 I'm glad I went the Sony road.
I don't understand all the negative reviews on this phone unless the reviewers are either Samsung fan boys (and girls) or had pre-production handsets.
Hope this helps anyone who's mot sure which way to go with their next handset purchase.

Well, wait until you run into the bugs (worst is SOD). The screen have yellow tint ( some does, some dont). Not sure about camera quality but the picture saved to compress ( bad quality). Its been out for 2/3 month and still no fix for the bugs. For a "flagship" device Im pretty disapointed.

Had my ZU since launch day and not had one SOD or any colour tint issues...
I agree with the camera being poor comment but then if u wanted an amazing camera u should have gone for the Z1 or other phone with better optics.
This phone is great for speed and quality of build...

So the only way to take good photos is to use a third party app ? Does an app really improve the quality ? i thought bad optics = bad photos no matter which app you use.
I'm gonna give Camera zoom fx a try then, thanks for sharing.

reviews are always going to be subjective. They have their likes and dislikes about devices... But I specifically loved how every single review I watched on the Ultra, moaned about how its too big for one handed operation. Thats like reviewing a car and then saying' "but you have to sit down to drive it..."

Coming from a Note, and S4, I really don't miss the OLED screen. I didn't realise how 'over done' Samsung screens were until I saw the ultra.
As far as Sony's updates go, they are still better than other manufacturers. e.g: The octa-core S4 still hasn't got real 8 cores working properly yet. And its been almost 12 months!

The sensor is actually quite good (for a 8mp). Its all about image compression. 1-2 mb per image is pathetic! There is no way a raw camera jpeg can have good quality being that small. Sony need to sort that out... but in the mean time 3rd party apps do make a difference.
OMG just tried Camera zoom FX and YES i can clearly see the difference ! Now i can enjoy taking photos :good:
And thanks for the info i did not know that the default app compress that much, hope it will be fixed in the next update ...

check out this thread. I think you'll find it even more helpful
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481316
Please note this is my opinion and experience with the phone. I love trying all kinds of smart phones.
I wanted to love this phone...
Being a heavy google apps user and a lover of customization and android, I recently switched back to android from the iPhone 6 Plus (previous phones as well include Blackberry Passport, Note Edge, Note 3, LG G3, Oneplus One, Xperia Z1, Sharp SH-03G (Docomo), Ascend Mate 7 to name a few). The C5 Ultra caught my attention with it's good looks, 6" screen and Sony's boasting of it's great front and rear facing 13mp cameras. Both cameras sounded perfect for me to take photos of my 2 year old and family selfies with the front camera. After a week of use here are my thoughts:
Pros:
- Beautiful design - very sleek with edge to edge (sides have little to no bezel) glass on the front making this a tall looking phone
- Dual Sim - great when I travel overseas
- Separate MicroSD card slot - some manufacturers force you to use the second sim slot but not Sony
- Unlocked
- GPS accurate
- Wifi reasonably strong
- Call quality good
Cons
- Screen (Innolux) lacks contrast and does poorly with blacks, colours are dull and washed out. There is screen backlight bleeding especially around the bottom edges.
- Camera Images - What a disappointment. Perhaps mine is a dud but colors are dull, photos over exposed, highlights blown out, photos are not sharp, even taken in daylight.
- Camera Performance - It doesn't matter how beautiful photos are a camera CAN take if it CANNOT catch the moment. The lag on the phone is terrible. Camera app slow to open. Focus slow to acquire. Shutter terribly slow. After focusing on an object which is slow to do, I press the shutter and the camera tries to focus again then shoot taking more than a second to do so. Because of this I keep missing the moment even outside in broad daylight.
- Camera Software - Slow, occasionally crashes. Doesn't stay on the last setting you used if you reopen the app.
- Battery life - very disappointing. I am not a heavy user. I take maybe 10-15 photos, read some email, browse the web. Rarely watch videos or listen to music and the phone struggles to make it 12-13 hours. Charges very slowly whether plugged in via usb or directly into a wall.
- The iPhone 6 Plus battery and Blackberry Passport I previously had blow this away when it comes to battery.
- Phone performance - Occasional lag or stutter opening apps, swiping between home screens
- Auto brightness is very inconsistent, in an evenly lit room, it is constantly adjusting up and down brightness.
In case anyone is interested benchmark numbers here (It's the Non-verified score)

Bottom line:
Visually a beautiful phone. Functionally a huge disappointment. The hype of a higher end or top mid range phone but not the same performance to back up the hype. Perhaps a lot of this, like the camera performance and the battery life and some OS performance can be tweaked and fixed with software updates. I love Sony products, and my house is full of Sony goods. Sony has a great name and reputation here in Japan but at the end of the day, Xperia phones still let me down and I end up going to solid phones from Samsung and LG. LG G4 on the way...

I thought about it a bit and I think it may be that I expected too much... ie coming from many so called "flagship" models I expected the C5 Ultra to perform like one (since it's pretty pricey), but it obviously didn't.
I'm going to ride with it for the rest of the week, trying some 3rd party camera apps and seeing if I can optimize the setup (or wait for a root and custom rom) to see if it would improve performance and battery life.
On the contrary, personally I feel it's punching above its weight.. It's relatively cheap here on contract. Other than the irritating problems I mentioned in my other thread, I think it's pretty ok. Battery have been great for me and performance decently fast. I never had high hopes for the cam anyway though I was hoping for a surprise this time round. Let's not forget the C series had always been a mid ranger.
It's a shame, really. The C5 is the best looking phone I've ever seen. If only the screen was better and the battery was larger I'd consider buying it.
It's even better looking than the Xperia Z5 series and has less bezel.
I'd love to put the hardware of the Z5 into the C5 ultra then it'd be the perfect phone.
I really hope developers will take up interest in this phone. As of now, there are basically nothing on the Web regarding this phone.. No reviews, not even accessories..
The Z5 range has recently been published on gsmarena. I was shocked to see the C5 looks WAY better than the expensive flagship Z5. Issue with the Z5 it looks the same as the Z2 and Z3, too much bezel.
I'm thinking of getting the C5 ultra for it's sexy looks and ultra thin bezel!
I hope a developer/modder can soon release a mod to make this phone output stereo sound. We just need output from the top speaker grill which will then give us true stereo speakers/sound.
The sound from this phone is pretty loud with audio+. Tweaking the white balance gives pretty decent colours as well. The colour just sucks straight from factory.

Sounds good! I currently own the Sony Xperia Z3 D6633. The screen I have is better, sound is stereo, ram is 3Gb, camera is 21MP/video 4k and battery is more (3100mAh) vs 2900...
Should I purchase the C5 Ultra, in many ways it indeed is a downgrade. However, the beautiful design and large screen/thin bezel is a win and I'm thinking of buying one.
The main thing that concerns me is the large 6'' screen and small battery of under 3000mAh. Sony really should of made the battery at least 3500 mAh to power the large screen.
I'd like, if possible more feedback from other users with regards to battery life. Also, how are the black levels and viewing angles of the screen?
How would the camera compare say to a Samsung Note 5/Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and the LG G4?
First up, I really have no problem with the battery. The 29xxmah battery may sound small, I have no problem lasting a full day. I try to post screen shots later. I feel that sony has one of the best optimised system around.
Screen needs some tweaking to get the colours right. Contrast still slightly on the lower side. Viewing angle is ok. No where near the shocking level of gen 1 xperia z. Colour shift at a acute angle similar to N4 if u know what I mean. To me, I think it's acceptable. And it's really bright.
I dun take a lot of picture.. But from my finding, superior auto is a disaster in this case. Manual gives me good results. Details are good and noise keep to a minimum in low light. Pics with flash turns out great as well, surprisingly. The other phones u mentioned are all flagship class so it might be a bit unfair to do the comparison. They can point and shoot and give good results. This, u have to point, tweak, shoot.... Lol. Results are not half bad. At least the last settings are retained so u do not go back to the superior auto by default.
Then again, do not forget this is a "midranger". And let's not forget there is no such thing as a perfect phone.

I am typing this from my Z Ultra. Seriously, if they carry on the Z line in the Z ultra's design and power, I think sony will do much better..
Here u go. these are 2 sets of battery usage. I am getting rather good results from it. Google sync on, Lte all the way. Staminal mode on. Manual screen brightness is at just 15% and its really bright indoors. Outdoors usually at just 40% or auto brightness. This is a really bright panel. On down side, battery charging is pretty slow. Using a 1.5a charger, it take me around 3-4hrs to charge from around 15%. I never tried the supplied 850mah one... maybe I should..
Hey! Theres one more thing that I want to mention for the screen. It FREAKING flickers whenever it tries to play a video for the first 1 sec. It should be a software issue. The display sets have this problem, the set i changed have this problem as well.
Just got c5 ultra. Was trying to connect my 1tb ext hdd, but it always shows "usb storage removed" as soon as i connect it.. However once it did got connected properly and i was able to access files on it but only once and after that i am continuously having the above mentioned problem.. Anyone else tried this? Also i am having some wierd clock ticking voice from my hdd after connecting.. It works fine though on my note 4 without such voice..
Sent from my SM-N910G using XDA Free mobile app
the usb port doesn't have enough power to power your hdd. better don't use it. you might force the hdd to keep reading and might damage the hdd
^ Thanks for the feedback bro. I'm currently living in Dubai, UAE. It seems, unfortunately the phone is not yet released here.
However, it should be released anytime soon. I'm going to call the Sony agent at Jumbo Electronics and see when the phone is due to be released.
As I said before, I'm seriously considering selling my several month old Sony Xperia Z3 D6633 dual sim and getting the C5 Ultra. In many ways it is indeed a downgrade.
That said, I'm also an ex owner of the legendary Sony Xperia Z Ultra which had the massive 6.44'' screen which was gorgeous. My current Z3 on the other hand has a much smaller screen of only 5.2'' and Although the screen is better and brighter, I'm not happy with the smaller screen. It seems Sony will not release a successor anytime soon for the Z Ultra so as of now the nearest option is the C5 Ultra. Though slightly smaller than the Z Ultra, it's the nearest phone to compare.
May I also ask, how does the C5 Ultra screen compare to the Z Ultra. Please tell me it's as good as if not better.
Unsure about you, but the best on screen time I've had with my previous Z Ultra was 5 hours and 44 minutes! Not bad for a phone having almost 6.5'' in size and a 3000mAh battery...
I think I would prefer the Z ultra's screen over this, at least for now. I personally like how much we can adjust the screen contrast and colour on the Z. Colour adjustment can be make to be very close to my Z but C5 still lacks the deeper colours.. Dpi is smaller as well so I can see more things. Think the C5 dpi is at 480. It's a waste of screen estate. We seriously need development on this to make it a great device.
Yeah, the device is still too new. I'm sure that with some development and custom roms, it'll be even better. Sadly it'll take some time...
At least they've improved the sound quality and finally the output is better than previous models.
Then there's front and rear flash which the Z Ultra completely lacked.
I've seen many brand new C5 Ultra's for just £250 in ebay, around 300 euros. For a 6'' mid range device the price is fantastic...
How does battery life compare to the Xperia Z Ultra? How is the quality/sharpness of the camera? Image noise low and under control?
I usually get around a full day with 3-4hrs screen on time with Z ultra. C5, that kind of timing is usually when I am at around 40%. I never finish my day with a flat battery for C5. I dun play games. Just lots of browsing, Facebook and YouTube. Cam is a mixed bag. Most of the time, details and colours are pretty good. Sometimes overly exposed. Superior auto is a disaster though. But overall, good pics can be achieved with manual without much trouble.
Finally bought my C5 Ultra last night! Overall I'm satisfied with it and there is more good than bad.
Screen is actually great AFTER calibration. By default the whites and colours are dead. For me, white balance is as follows; Red 38, Green 49 & Blue 40. Colour as well as the white and blacks are great and not far off from my Xperia Z3. So bear in mind the display does need a good calibration to get decent results.
After going through some high quality pictures and full HD 1080P movies and animated cartoons, colour is strong and black levels do actually look great, screenshots below of Shaun The Sheep Movie. Viewing angles are brilliant.
Speed. Generally the device is fast and responsive. It does at times pause and there is a slight delay. However, this should be fixed in a future update and when we get root access and recovery!
Looks. This was the key reason I bought the device. Specification is high mid range, a step above the Xperia Z Ultra, however, I wasn't bothered with the specification, it's gorgeous looks lured me into buying the device! As internet photos show, the left/right side of the phone literally has no bezel, the stunning display stretches out right to the edges. The top/bottom of the phone are still thin and the upper part is mostly taken by the huge 13mp camera with it's flash.
The bottom of the screen is still pretty thin and compared to my Xperia Z3, though a bigger phone, the bottom bezel of the C5 Ultra is still thinner!
As explained above, the screen by default is lifeless, colours are wrong and whites are more warm. You will have to calibrate the white levels in order to get decent looking whites and other colours...
Camera. I've not had the time to fully experiment, however, it is decent and photos are sharp and clear. Others have mentioned the camera is slow especially if selecting the memory card to store the images. Completely wrong. I took several pictures last night, one after the other and other than a split second delay, it was ready to take the second and the third picture. it's fast and responsive, no lag whatsoever when taking photos whether you select the memory card slot or the internal memory.
The flash is VERY bright and even when using the light/torch mode, the light was excellent, stronger than my Xperia Z3.
Gaming. Aside from Ski Safari, I didn't try any other game. However, colours were great, whites were excellent and there was no lag or delays at all. Nice and smooth.
Whether surfing the web, gaming or using the camera, there was no sign at all of overheating, in fact, the phone never even got warm when using for long periods! So no need to worry about overheating or getting warm.
Body/Build quality. Although the rear of the phone is plastic, it's a very high quality plastic, very strong and it's appearance is good. The sides of the phone are a solid aluminium and the front is entirely glass. Build quality is very sturdy and overall excellent. There are no gaps around the phone/bezel and the sides are well put together. So far the best design I've ever seen from Sony.
I was actually going to wait and purchase the Xperia Z5. Once I saw the design was VERY similar to the current Z2/Z3 series I thought why buy the Z5 when it looks too similar to my current phone? I wanted something different, unique and affordable. This is where the C5 Ultra fits in, perfectly...
Battery. Unfortunately, since I've only just used the phone for several hours, I'm yet to comment on battery life. In fact, I've still not even charged the battery, not even once. Battery was around 61% when the phone was first turned on. After around 2 hours of on screen time, some wi-fi, phone calls, sms messages and camera use, battery is still around 22% .
Speakers/sound - I'd say decent but not loud. My Xperia Z3 having dual speakers was around 25% louder. That said, we can only pray that sooner or later, a developer can release custom sound for louder, clearer audio having dual loud speakers when listening to music, watching movies, gaming or simply when making a phone call. We simply need audio output via the upper earpiece to give us stereo sound. Lazy Sony, unfortunately didn't bother doing this...
Verdict. Based on the above, I'd give the phone 8.5/10 for overall use/features/looks/battery, etc.
Some screen shots of the phone and screen:
Hello guys, i will buy the pocophone tomorrow afternoon, and i was wonder what are the general oponions about this device?
I am here to ear experiences about users that bougjt the poco f1?
I want to know honest opinion related to general?
About camera?
Speed?
Screen?
Thanks
Hi,
I bought this phone recently and I can tell I'm happy with it.
The speed is blazing as it uses the most powerful processor on the market (well, until the Huawei Mate 20 Pro came out with the Kirin 980 SoC, but it's still the second best as of now).
The screen is one of the best IPS panel I've ever seen. It has vibrant colors and is really nice to see. Still, I think it can't compete with OLED screens like you will find on the OnePlus 6 or other high-end devices. That's certainly not the best screen overall, but clearly one of the best IPS screen for a mobile device.
The sound output is excellent as well, I use it daily with my Sennheiser Momentum (over-ear, second version). I find it has too much bass so I reduced them using an equalizer, but that's also the best Jack output I've ever seen on a smartphone.
The battery life is also amazing, with clearly two to three days in standard usage - you can't make it K.O. in a single day without playing games all the day long. I personnaly get around 8 hours of screen on time.
For these points, I think that's clearly the best device I've ever had between my hands. But of course, it has downsides to, and here is the list of the ones I've found about this phone :
* Camera is not great. It's not bad, but not great. If you compare it to, let's say, a LG G6, a Samsung Galaxy S8/9 or an iPhone X(R/...) it's the just not the same level;
* Design is fine and I'm not too regarding about this but clearly most competitors (if not all) do better at the same price. The borders are a bit thick, the notch is large, and the bottom border is too big too;
* No Widevine L1 support means you cannot watch Netflix in HD. Apparently they are working on a fix but for now you will be limited so lower resolutions;
* No NFC support means you will not be able to use anything that uses NFC (some payment methods, connection to headphones that support it, etc.)
That's, for me, for main high points and downsides of this phone
So, to sum up a little bit, if you simply want a blazing fast phone at a low price, buy it. But, if you want the best screen to watch your Netflix series in high resolution or want to take high-quality photos, you may prefer a competitor (like the OnePlus 6).
Amazing

Crazy good phone for the price.
The camera is moderate, better than older phones but worse than newer phones.
Speed is crazy fast. I'd recommend rooting it and installing greenify as i felt that the phone gets a big laggy throughout the day (not extremely noticeable) but hibernating the open apps helps. There are some services and pre-installed apps which i removed/disabled to increase free memory and battery life.
Battery is amazing, I commute to school and back home in a total of 4 hours with data, location, and spotify running in the background and it eats maybe 5%.
Screen is beautiful, not as vibrant as OLED screens but still really good looking. I haven't had an screen bleeding issues as others have been complaining about it.
Hi all
I have been debating with myself for awhile rather get the xperia 1 3 or the oneplus 9pro, also considering the op9 or nokia 8.4 although I know specs are downgraded from first two.
Do u have any insights for me?

I can assure you that you won't be disappointed if you choose Xperia 1 III. I think I don't have to polish the quality, it's a Sony the display is superb as always. Camera is a masterpiece, especially in manual. If you know what you're doing then you shot photos you couldn't with any other and the colours are the most realistic you can get. Performance is outpacing all other phones. I didn't have any lags, hesitation or slowdown ever. Multi-tasking is a killer, doesn't matter how many apps you use simultaneously, apps won't crash. I replaced my Xperia 1 and I didn't regret it. Not to mention that my Xperia 1, Xperia xz premium, xperia z3 still run like new I don't have any pros or cons regarding the other phones you mentioned.

Thank u for the reply. it is helpful
If you're into this kind of bleeding edge device; either way you'll be disappointed, just less with this one I think.
Reasoning: Android is just becoming more like IOS on both the hard and software side.
DRM, lack of sdcard port (why I decided to pick the 1III over the 9P), locking down systems as much as possible.
Funny enough that ain't whats killing the 1III or the 9P, these companies share more source code than most, it's the tiny community which might have made it worth for me to get the S22 Ultra instead.
I did get a terrific deal tho; €888 for a snapdragon 888, how fitting.
I don't know about OnePlus, but my Xperia has a definite "beta" feel that never goes away.
What the Sony really has going for it is:
Fast CPU burst speed launches apps quickly
microSD card for old apps and some apps not from Google Play Store
Solid feel
Stereo speakers and headphone jack
Fast WiFi 6
Quick camera button
Long battery life
Water resistant
Notification LED
Very fast USB connection
Not so good:
Some people have problems with phantom screen and fingerprint touches
Fingerprint reader will false-positive a LOT
Minimal carrier support, if any. Cellular reception is not the best.
Minimal CPU cooling, quick throttling
Dated camera quality, worse camera software
Very "stock" Android, and that's a bad thing for Android 11 and 12. Google's recent work is a dumpster fire.
microSD crippled for recent Google Play Store apps (see previous item)
Several gigabytes of setup shovelware on some models. The downloads have to be cancelled to get started.
Rough software and some bad updates. Can be frustrating to use.
Flashlight is dim
4K screen resolution is restricted to a few uses
The Sony by my experience excellent.
A few sites to confirm this.

Very happy with mine. Been a champ. Learn to yield the camera and you will be trated with excellent images.
Led notification
3.5 connection
12/256 config on the base model + sd-card support
4k FLAT screen - no notch or punch-hole
Great camera hardware - excellent manuel controls - 4k 120fps
Great battery
Stereospeakers with punch and good balance
Also a great looking phone beautifully buildt.
Why open new threads like this always and mess up the entire forum... Even for a single new update if there is only a monthly security update

I've even reached 2,6Gbps download speed once. Sadly, I didn't taka a screenshot
Apart from the dim flashlight, I didn't face any of those issues. This phone really is a beast Can't imagine that I'd buy any other manufacturer's phone.
I had a lot of Flagships in my hands. For 1 year ago a had a s21, s22 , S22 Ultra, Zfold3 , Mi11 Ultra, Mate/P 40 Po... I can easily say that 1||| is not the best at all but...
Beautiful und one hand useful
Camera with a bit of knowledge is the best in the terms of colours and really really to convey the real atmosphere and mood of the scene. Hey this is not a flat and too bright Samsungs way. Other like a hand painted Huawei and Pixel way.
And up to 5 zoom ist the best because ist not so dependent from various constant zoom cameras. It have a variable zoom and this make a lot of difference.
Also is a lot more agile and smooth than Samsung in terms of software.
I have never had a One+ device but with the Chinese i find always annoying flaws.
I don't understand why people are comparing this phone so much with other phones.
The sole reason I bought this phone is because it offers a very unique featureset.
I wanted a fingerprint scanner on the side or back.
Can find lots, but typically only in higher-end models.
I also wanted wireless charging.
Also lots, but typically only in budget models.
I wanted a flat screen, no curved edges.
Removes a lot of phones too.
I preferred a headphone jack and notification LED (if possible).
Removes even more phones.
With all these requirements there is literally no other phone available.
None
I couldn't care less about camera quality, yet I bought it.
Me? I'm happy with it. But unless you want some specific features that only this phone offers I just would not recommend it because it's, imo, WAY too expensive compared to the competition.
You should not buy this phone because you want a "flagship model", you're better off with OP, Samsung, Google or Apple (dare I say it).
I will admit that Sony devices are unicorns, so you can buy it for the hipster factor I guess.
