I've got a new MHL cable and a USB OTG cable in the hope I could plug my MHL into the SGS3, use a powered USB hub connected to the Micro USB(as this requires independent power) on the MHL and then connect a keyboard and mouse into the USB hub, then connect the HDMI to the TV.
For me it doesn't work. I thought this was the whole reason they changed the MHL cable to the new type. Can anyone else confirm?

I dont think Hub will work on the phone, I am not sure....
Anyway GS2 MHL no longer will work on SGS3, Samsung has released seperate MHL for SGS3, which are available in the Market,
I bought it and tested, working fine for me...

thanks in advance

Afaik the S3's MHL-Adapter is self-powered and does no longer rely on an external power source to operate. (Hooray!)

No, that's a pure HDMI adapter and thus Plug&Pray
Make sure to get a MHL adapter for the S3, the adapters for the S2 and other devices are not compatible to the new pin layout.
Hey everyone,
I just ordered an USB HUB device and I tested it on both my PC and my tablet (Nexus 7), and everything worked flawlessly (tested with mouse, keyboard, usb stick and gamepad usb at the same time and everything worked fine on both devices).
When it came to the Galaxy S2, for some reason only the USB memory stick works, while it gives power to the keyboard/mice/pad but doesn't recognize them or something.
I've tried all those separated one by one and they all work without a problem with the same OTG cable I am using for this. I also tried a keyboard/mouse combination with PS2 ports and an USB adapter into my SGS2 via OTG and both works at the same time..
Anyone knows what could be the problem here? I can't understand why SGS2 can handle mouse/mice at the same time via PS2-USB-OTG converter but not via USB-HUB-OTG, while they work for separated (and the entire combination works via PC and Nexus 7).
I checked and people reports they all work in the sgs2 too, and I can see videos with keyboard/mice usb hub working.. ¿what can be happening here? Maybe my USB Hub is for some reason not complatible with sgs2?
The USB hub I'm using is this one:

Thanks a lot in advance!
Anyone?
I've successfully made an OTG cable. It works fine.
I have also rewrired my monoprice 11pin to 5pin MHL adapter directly to my MHL output with a 40.2Ohm resistor. The phone recognizes it as a smartdock and the MHL/charging is all working. I am running TW rooted...
However when I add the proper connections to another OTG adapter, I don't get any USB enumeration. I can post pics and pinouts if anyone cares..
Monoprice part of the 9-5 adapter is 9716... I can't post links yet.
Anyone have an idea of how or why USB enumeration isn't working? I get power to said USB device, but nothing shows up on the phone side that a USB device is connected or working... I verified the device with the original OTG cable I made, so I know the mouse works just fine there.
SOB
I've used a d610 for about 8 months now but haven't tried if a USB MHL adapter works. Can anyone confirm this as I haven't seen any proof that it is, and I'd be surprised if it didn't due to it's USB OTG support.
Hi people, Ive been enjoying a few custom ROMS and their own little nuances and found myself ditching CM for Back To N00t due to its MHL compatibility. I can use my standard USB OTG cable with no problems but I have an MHL cable with built in USB port - the HDMI connects fine but no USB devices are recognised The cable works fine on 4.3 stock ROM.
Any ideas or fixes are much appreciated as without that USB OTG port working the MHL cable is semi useless for what I need it for.
My bad, the MHL and OTG function seems to be an either/or affair as it works when the HDMI is disconnected. Im almost certain both functions worked simultaneously on my 4.3 stock when I tested it...looks like Ill restore to 4.3 and see if my memory is playing tricks on me. Sorry for wasting forum space!
