Hello!
I've been on LiquidSmooth v2.37 for the last 3 months and with great pleasure. After flashing the ROM back in Nov 2013 I experienced few random phone hangs which I initially ignored => long press of power button and problem solved. These hangs became more frequent in Dec 2013 so I tried a cache wipe and also a factory reset with little success: the phone hangs frequency decreased but not disappeared. Presently I get this problem from 1 to 3-5 times per day, which starts to be annoying.
- Never modified the ROM. 100% LiquidSmooth official and original
- The phone does not completely freeze: screen and buttons become unresponsive however the status led still blinks. Moreover if I try to call the i9300 I can hear the call tones through the other phone, however no sound / vibration is produced by the i9300.
- Hangs happen mostly when I'm using apps but I could not find a pattern so they look random to me
Before i was on ParanoidAndroid and I have never experienced such issue.
Any suggestion? I don't wanna leave this ROM since it's really really good for me.
Thanks for your help!
Wipe and flash stock rom, if still freezing then you have bad memory blocks -read the freezing thread in general forum.

Thanks.
Is there another way to test memory health rather than flashing the stock firmware? Maybe a benchmark app or something?
Where can I find the latest stock firmware and the guide to flash it?

Memory test may be more destructive than a stock flash .
You have a Nandroid .

hmm, ok, I'll install the stock firmware again.
can I pick any stock firmware for GT-I9300 or should I select the firmware based on phone current FW/baseband/recovery installed?
Use the latest full stock issued for your country, flash with odin and factory reset.

Go back to stock, see if it still happens while you are there. If so, return it and ask for a new one. If it doesn't, flash CM again and read the CM thread; you just might find a fix for that issue.

What ROM do you use?
Settings->about phone->build number should give you the ROM name and the firmware it's based on.

Just click restore. You don't have to delete anything first because it will be deleted/replaced by the restored rom

Help!!
I don't know if this was asked before.
Random apps like Quickpik, Google Search, Dolphin browser or even XDA forum app causes my phone to freeze. It could be any app or activity on my phone. The screen gets stuck on whatever it is at that moment and doesn't respond to anything.
I'm forced to hold down the power button for like 5-6 seconds so that the Samsung logo appears and the phone reboots.
But, while rebooting it gets stuck on the boot screen animation of PA forever (isn't that called boot loop?) I'm forced to hold down the power button again for about 5-6 seconds so that it reboots again. Sometimes boot loop happens again or if not, it goes to lock screen.
My phone froze when I was trying to access the XDA forum app to post this issue..
I'm running Paranoid Android 3.15 March 28th build and stock kernel. Thanks in advance for any help...

I did. I re-installed the ROM after a full factory wipe, cache and dalvik cache wipe. Still the issue remains.
Either ask in your roms thread or wipe phone install stock rom and test .

I was running Paranoid Android ROM 3.15 with Siyah Kernel 1.9.1 when the SDS issue started happening. I asked for help in the Q&A section of PA, but I didn't get any reply.
I tried Jelly beer ROM thinking that would solve the freezing issue. But in vain.
The post above me asks me to flash stock ROM. Does that mean I will loose root?
My baseband version is I9300DDDLJ1. Is this the firmware they are talking about?
If I flash the stock ROM, I'll be going into Android 4.2.1. Why should I be doing that when I'm having Android 4.2.2 with PA?
I'm still a n00b and if anyone could walk me through the method of keeping PA 3.15 and not have any SDS issue, it would be considered so much helpful. Thanks A Million....

Hi guys, any help would be appreciated!
My galaxy s3, on 4.1.2, has been periodically freezing, and then the only way to get it working again is to either take the battery out or hold down the standby button and restart it that way.
It started about 4 or 5 days ago, freezes whether on battery or charging. Sometimes it freezes multiple times in 15 minutes, sometimes it lasts 30-40 mins before freezing.
It was unrooted when the problem started, since rooted to see if that helped but no luck.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Root cannot help and it invalidates warranty .
First step is to backup data and factory reset .
jje
Yes, factory reset and select another kernel that will accept more multitasking
Didn't you try to flash XXEMB1 firmware with Odin? If so let's try to do it, because I've heard that Samsung fixed freeze issues with this firmware.
And also I flashed XXEMB1 firmware and I have no more freezes, so my advice would by to flash this firmware to all people who have freeze issues.:good:

Must be root / loss guarantees though? / Renew it, always a Nandroid backup EFS folder!!
After the flash root kernel, there are plenty on xda
This has been doing my head in for quite some time, sometimes when I take a picture and flash/focus and then shoot it turns my phone off, to the point I can't turn it back on and I have to battery pull.
I thought it was a ROM related issue (at the time I was on Ultima ROM 4.2) so just recently I've upgrades to 4.3.2 KitKat and it does exactly the same. It's not an app issue although it does it far less in MX Camera then stock camera.
Does anybody know why? it's driving me crazy

I got this error in CWM after I tried flashing a KitKat ROM, I googled the error and found it's because my CWM is old and I need the updated version that's able to flash some KitKat ROMs but i wipe factory/data reset and when i reboot i just reboot into recovery
I figured i can just flash the .tar file from Odin and reboot into the new recovery and then flash the ROM but the .tar is nowhere to be found and i'm pretty out of practise with all the flashing ROMs business, I don't know what my alternatives are. I'm updating from 4.1.2 and that's only because the bug on this app is doing my head in (turns phone off sometimes when flash focus taking a picture, got to battery pull)
phone is stuck in recovery until some chap helps me out
phone is scaring me now lol, had trouble getting it into recovery then. i can see the brick light and its glowing
much appreciated

Yeah that's happening to me too, I'm on Imperium rom v31.0 (based on stock Samsung 4.3) with Boeffla 5.3 kernel.
I'll try figure out what's going on, it might be the battery getting old. If you can, try a newer battery.
EDIT: Problem seems to be fixed for me, setting max CPU clock to 1600mhz and GPU to 266/350/440/533/600 overvolting to +25mV through Boeffla-Config V2.
Hi all,
Before I have flashed the custom rom and would like to restore the stock rom now, but when I flashed the stock rom by odin(downloaded from sammobile.com), after boot up and test the call, camera, vibrate.. everything are ok, and then power off.
But in next day, I turned on the phone and want to test it again, it freeze and get very hot, then I try to flash with odin again, but when installing in the download mode(about 80%), it hangs and very hot, I need to take out the battery. I have tried three times, the result are the same, what can I do now?
Thanks.
Was it the latest stock firmware or an old one? Sounds like a hardware issue.

Yes, I was downloaded the latest version, but I don't know why it suddenly got this issue.
