Is there a widget which will tell you how many hours of usage you have left....I know there are apps that can tell you this but I am looking for just a widget with all the info such as time left for surfing or watching videos etc.
there are quite a few, but i've always used battery monitor widget pro. it's got tons of info as well as estimated times.

Quick question does the calibration on this app work to get a more accirate time? I dont want to waste an hour on it if it doesnt work. Thanks in advance.

The calibration feature seems to be based on tried-&-true techniques & would only make it more accurate. It works pretty well without calibrating, so the worst that could happen is that it will work better. I am glad you like the app. I liked it so much that I purchased the ad-free version to support the Dev.

@BigBroham1984 so I did the calibration and the new times it gave were stupid, for some reason all the calibration tests (video, music and internet) took 3% each which made me think the calibration was off lol. Anyways I uninstalled it and reinstalled a fresh copy to get the numbers back to the old one.
So now I have 9.30hrs of Internet on a widget (which is spot on screen time) HOWEVER if I open the app at all it sets it 12 hrs Internet time remaining so now I basically just have the widget which works nicely but if I do click it accidentally I will have to reinstall it Lol. Apart from this annoyance the widget is great.

let us know if you find the culprit...im just not sure.
GPSd would be the GPS Daemon. Means your GPS is active? Do you use Cerebus/Find my Droid/Samsung mobile services? If any of these are active and tracking your device then that might explain it?
I am getting the same issue, I was using gamerzrom rom since a week without issues, yesterday the problem started and the battery is sucked so fast..
Do you have Mobile Defense installed? Using the BetterBatteryStats app it appears that for me the drain is related to a part of Mobile Defense. It was listed as "ars" related to the Mobile Defense process which caused a 55m wakelock & spiked gpsd to use a steady 25% CPU.
In Mobile Defense settings I disabled all backup options and checked all boxes under the Malware scanning preferences. I haven't seen the issue surface in 2 days.

I'm not on the SGS3, I'm on the galaxy Note, I never had this issue with GB. I am now on ICS and it's always using 60+ battery% of my battery. It drives me nuts!

My GPS was off during this whole time...
I have managed to "fix" this for now. I just rebooted my device, and managed to get two days of over 16hrs for a charged battery.
I remedied this issue just by upgrading my software. I jumped into ICS and the last two roms haven't had this issue. So all I can say is... Update. Good luck guys.

Yesterday My I9300 also has the same problem, and I didn't enable the Samsungdive function.
but I know that it should relate to GPS. below is what i do.
1. I empty all GPS software buffer.
2. Switch off phone,
3. Take out SIM card,
4. Switch on phone, disable wifi,
5. Open the GPS software then search GPS signal,
6. after GPS get your position, then empty the GPS software buffer again.
..............Then the GPSD never drain your battery.
I think this is a bug, the GPS is always searching for the GPS signal so that drain the battery.
Hi all,
I'm totally out of ideas and search terms. Basically after I've rooted my phone and had Psycho Mantis with Siyah kernel on it, the battery was experiencing issues.
To give you an indication, it drains the whole battery in one day with minimal use.
Last week I was out somewhere for a greater portion of the week, and since there are no (decent) receptions, I turned of data. When I got back to civilization, I had my data turned back on.
Since then, the battery was being drained even more! Now my battery will struggle to live half a day.
I've looked at battery stats threads and this and that, installed different battery stats apps, but just don't know what's wrong.
I've became so desperate on this issue that I don't know where to even look further, so if anyone had experienced this problem, or knows whether there are any trustworthy sources that I can investigate this further, please let me know.
Thanks in advance

If you have better battery stats app you can post a dump so I can see what's using your battery. Also download cpu spy from the play store to see if your phone is deep sleeping.
If you have any widgets that sync, delete them, if you're using Facebook use friendcaster, turn off gps and location settings, you can try to underclock your device to 800mhz, use the lowest brightness settings, turn off the hardware keys and bln, you could try indervolting but it can be unstable for some devices.
Hope that helps a little

Right I've got both apps you said, but CPUSpy doesn't tell me (or at least I don't know where it says) what's eating my battery. BetterBatteryStats I can't work out the names and codes it uses, so again I couldn't work out what's going on.
I'll try to work out how to get you a screendump.

My phone battery life has gotten worse on my week old Samsung device.
I first looked up that there was a problem with a decimal point somewhere in a file. I followed necessary steps online to root my device and flash whatever it was (sorry don't know the jargon, I'm an Apple geek but very new to Android) to sort out my battery problem with cell standby mode showing at 75% in the battery settings menu.
I did notice a difference after doing this for ONE day.
My phone has drained horrendously today after 4 hours after a full charge, I was down to 30% battery life.
Wifi is off, Power saving mode is off (after reading online that it actually drains more power), GPS is off, Bluetooth is off, Sync is off and Driving Mode is off.
Everytime I use my device, I always use Task Manager and "Remove All" then I clear my RAM (which always closes 22 apps, even if I've just sent a text!)
This phone is driving me crazy with this issue and I'm about ready to throw it through a window and go back to my iPhone 4S.
I moved to Android because I didn't like the small screen on an iPhone. BAD MOVE!!!!
If anyone can help me out with some resolution, I'd be grateful. I'm new to Android so this is all just confusing me.
Thank you. :good:

I shouldn't have to turn off Facebook and Twitter to be fair. My iPhone never had any problems with them two apps being signed in and being set up for push notifications. I can't believe how bad Android actually is.

The Facebook app for android is a pos, its a known battery killer. there's a new one coming.
Losing that much battery in 4 hours is a bit much though. How much screen on time?
Maps kills battery too, network location service. Leave GPS on, turn off wireless location, if you get what I mean.
GPS is only used when an app is in use, network location is pinging away in the background all the time.
Android isn't bad, its just not a kids os like iOS, it takes a bit of learning to get the most out of it.
Once you start delving into it you'll get hooked.

Install apps like cpu spy and better battery statts, that gives you a vieuw about cpu deep sleep time and apps keeping the cpu awake with abnormal activity and thus draining the battery

I was at work during those 4 hours so I literally wasn't using my phone at all. The phone screen was locked and in my pocket.
I got it out on my break and couldn't believe just how much my battery had drained.
com.sec.android.app.launcher was showing at 23%
Android OS 20%
Samsung Syncadapters 9%
Android System 9%
Twitter 8%
eBay 8%
Screen 4%
I don't know the rest cos I just took a screen shot to send it to my friend to ask what the first one was.
I really can't see me and Android getting on to be honest, which is a shame because I love the actual handset but I really don't like the operating system at all.

Launcher?!? Damn, that's unusual.
When an app does that its called a wakelock, it happens sometimes.
You could try something simple like a reboot and that might solve it or you could go to settings > applications manager > all > touchwiz home (something like that) and clear data.
Alternatively you could download a vanilla android launcher like nova or apex from the play store.
your launcher is your home screens and your app drawer.
Search xda for "betterbatterystats" and use that app to see what else is causing these wakelocks.
Repeat the same thing tomorrow and that'll give you precise info on the troublesome apps.

try to let android handle the ram.

battery should last at least 24 hours with 2-3 hours screen time.
also use wifi rether then 3g

I am coming from MeanRom, which was fabulous.
MeanBean is very good too, but my battery life is miserable now. Looking in the battery stats the only thing that looks unusual is the Internet (meaning the browser app) is at 36 percent of the total battery usage.
Is anyone else getting miserable battery life, and what is your internet usage reading?

I'm on MeanBean .5 and my battery life, albeit not better than MeanRom, is not that bad. My internet usage reading is 8%. I usually don't leave my 3G/WiFi on all day and I only turn it on when I want to check something or get a MMS. I guess that's why my battery life isn't nearly as bad as yours on MeanBean.
So sounds like your battery life is about the same? Are you using the new kernel or the old one?
Yeah I would make that assumption. I'm using whichever kernel Mikey included in the Rom, which I'm assuming is the JB kernel because the ICS kernel won't work. I try to stay away from other kernels because the kernel Mikey includes in his Roms is usually tweaked to work specifically for his Roms.
Disable Google now, don't fill up every home screen with widgets, reboot and give the kernel a day to settle. That should improve your battery life to almost ics levels

I don't use Google Now, nor do I use any widgets other than weather. Hmmm...
Anyway if Google Now was the problem where would that show under battery usage statistics? Anyone know?
Thanks
Something else to keep in mind is that MeanROM included Mikey's custom kernel, which was a big contribution to the fantastic battery life.
Swiped from my EVO
I was not using the custom kernel, and even so the battery went forever and ever

Mean bean .5 here, getting -30min/1hr less when browsing & using camera which isn't to bad for an early jb release. I could live with it for now since I still don't have to bring my charger to work with me. It isn't that bad IMO

I got over 11 hours today and I thought that was not too bad. There are some strange items showing up in usage though using data. Anyone know what they are? Droid Wall does not log in JB so it is hard for me to pin down.

I just looked through several theme and ROM threads and couldn't find it. Where did you get your icons from? They're pretty sweet.

You've also got to take into account that the rom needs to settle, its a brand new base and Mikeys tweaks have yet to be fully set up. The tweaks in Mean ICS were developed over time

Your not going to find them as I made them myself. You have to look for a DINIK glass template floating on XDA and then use Photoshop to be creative. =)

And yet it's still currently better than the officially released version

Someone on another forum suggested turning off location history in maps helped a lot with their battery life...
And someone else suggested a simple factory reset after flashing the ROM...(I know this helped out with a previous phone I had - it was burning battery like cray and running hot, and factory reset cured everything.)
I thought the batter life was much better with Meanbean

I'm getting horrible battery life too. I had it fully charged at 100% and it has been on for 2 hours with barely any usage, and now it's at 80%.
I have been running 4.3 a long time now on my One. It takes a couple days to calibrate. I have had the best battery life ever on 4.3. You just ned some patience. I hear it all the time on the 4.3 custom ROM threads.

But this is STOCK and we just got the update. On T-Mobile USA.

Go to the Google play services app and clear the data.
That was causing a huge wake lock.

I was on STOCK 4.3 also WW edition. I just switched to stock T-Mo edition. Search the forums and you will see a bunch of complaints about battery life on 4.3 after just a few hours of flashing. Everyone replies back to give it a few cycles and how it is the best battery life they have ever had.
The battery life on mine with the 4.3 has improved greatly.

I hope it works its self in, because yesterday was HORRIBLE. Even today, I took my phone off the charger 30 minutes ago and with NO USE, I'm at 92%
Animations seem choppier too. Rather annoying

Guys... Install something like Gsam battery monitor so you came actually tell what is using your battery.
You most likely have rouge apps that are causing wake locks

Anyone else getting sluggish performance after the update? I never had any performance issues on 4.1 but some apps are really slow and jerky now, even some of the regular system animations are slower.
Also, is it just me or did the developer options disappear from settings.

Yeah, I had to Factory Reset twice to get rid of the lag, and it didn't completely resolve it. It's like even some of the core apps aren't optimized. Weird. The stuttering animations really make me pissed
If you want developer options go to settings, about phone, software information, more, then click on Build Number a bunch of times and it re-enables developer options
I feel bad for u guys tht had to wait all this time and now have performance/battery issues ... I have none here hahahaha
Actually I think it's better after that 2nd reset. It may have just needed some time to "settle"

Seriously? That's weird.
I don't want to factory reset, especially if it doesn't even solve the problem. This is lame.
I disabled the lookout app. That got rid of my wake lock . Battery life is still bad though.

No problem here. I did notice that my phone was running hot after the update. I ended up powering it off for a few minutes. When I powered it back up, it ran at normal temperature. Or maybe it just cooled down.
well, I sure am glad I have a jump from t-mobile. I'm going to offload this piece of crap for Nexus 5.

I have no battery issues here. I cleared all cache using an app right after the update.
