Flashing

Hi, guys could anyone give me instructions as how to flash the Motorola Atrix 4G At&T. I have rooted it. Its currently on 2.3.6 build 4.5.141. What is the best way to flash. I do not want to risk bricking. Could anyone tell me what is the advantages of a unlocked bootloader and how do I unlock it.

Hi i have been searching and there are quite a few different threads all giving different methods. I don't know which one to follow
Here you go. READ absolutely everything before you attempt to do anything. Be patient and do not freak out if something goes wrong. You will not brick your phone if you follow the instructions.

I'm feeling kind, but do use search in future!

Use kingo, think it's the safest atm. Root process is the same for all models.

I'm on the latest update and I can't achieve root has anyone achieved root access on here?

You need to go back to 532 first before you can root:
Use this guide for that part:

You can't root 257. You have to downgrade to 532 first, root, possibly change the CDA (if you don't get the OTA update), update through OTA, and you're done.
So...
- Find a 532 ROM here.
- Flash the 532 build using Flashtool.
- Root it using this tool.
- If you don't get the OTA update, follow this guide and change your CDA.
- Install OTA Root Keeper from the Play Store.
- Once the OTA is available, download it.
Congratulations, you're on 257 again and you're rooted. This is it, and there's plenty of helpful threads here if you SEARCH, so please search before you ask. Answering questions all day long isn't our job.
EDIT: God damn it, @shaolin95, i just wasted 4 minutes on my "Rooting Guide For Dummies"

[Q] 2.3.4 question

I have a rooted photon 4g sprint edition running 2.3.4 and i want to know if there are any custom roms that keep 4g. I have not unlocked the bootloader or made any other changes to the phone yet. I have unlocked and rooted a few phoes in the past and had no problems but i have not found a good answer to this problem anywhere. I'm sorry if this is a repetative question but there are too many maybe answers out there. So basically 4g with custom rom yes or no? Please help
There's a thread in Dev section were you use pudding to unlock then relock to regain 4G.

Help Rooting My Xperia Z Ultra C6802

So, I've read EVERY post on rooting and adding recovery to my phone with unsuccessful results every time. I'm running FM 14.1. B.2.257
Is there something I'm missing?
I was able to unlock the bootloader, so I'm good there but the rest
Any ideas?

You'll have to give us some more than that. You're on 257 and you've unlocked the bootloader? Aaaand? What have you done or/and tried?
downgrade to .532 and use the japanese rootkit.

But there is no way to root without unlocking the bootloader... right?
Exactly. So if have unlocked already. There is no way to get warrenty again.

If you didn't backup your ta partition before you unlock bootloader there's no hope

Have you backed it up? If so there is chance. But for me it's sounds like you've rooted your phone already?

Nope not yet. But I just did some searching it seems that there is no way to root a z2 without unlocking the bootloader. And the ta partition cannot be backedup. Which hence I will lose the warranty. Am I.. right?
For now. Yes. Maybe near future some genius will find the way rooting w/o unlock the bootloader. Wait for it if you don't want lose your warrenty. But it's worth lose it and have fun. Up to you. Think Carefully.

There is currently no way to backup your TA partition as there is no rooting method for locked bootloaders yet.

Yes! To root your phone, first, you need to downgrade to rootable firmware which is jb 4.1.2, (there's so many rooting methods that works in that version) then after rooting you can backup ta partition. Search for the procedures and read carefully and follow the instructions, it's all here in xda forum

Hey mate. Z2 can't be downgraded to 4.1.2 as box open firmware is kitkat ...... Aren't you confusing it with Xperia Z or something like that? It is Z2 forum.... not for other. And 4.4 is still rootable no need to downgrade. It just requires you to unlock bootloader.
Sorry! You're right. I just check out. My mistake.
