Earlier today i flashed a stock rom, locked my bootloader, and flashed the stock AT&T recovery in an attempt to recieve the 4.2.2 update. As i was checking for the update, a 13.8 mb update was downloaded, however when it tried to install, a red exclamation point came up. So i restarted and tried it again and no luck. So then i decided to run the RUU and start fresh and try again. However this time, the update is not being recieved. Any ideas or hints that you guys have?

Try to uncheck the automatic time in settings and put the tine 24 hour ahead. And try to get the update. Some claim it works this way.

Same for me
Having exactly the same problem. Made an account because i could not find an answer anywhere else. Just tried the time strategy and it did not work.
I do have the downloaded update file. Is there a way to install it through ADB and pushing, as can be done with nexus devices?
Thanks

Hi,
I had my G2 rooted ages ago and was using custom ROMS right up until yesterday. I'm due to get a Desire HD in the post today so was resetting phone to give my girlfriend and thought it easier if she had the Stock ROM.
So I put that back on using the official updater, back to 1.5... However I can't update it to Eclair. Whenever it downloads the update and tries to install it I get a black screen with a phone and a triangle with an exclamation mark
I've most definitely updated with the OTA before... could it be because it was once rooted?
Try going to your country's HTC homepage and download the official 2.1 RUU from there.
If it isn't there, maybe you can find it here http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Hero/
That is where I found my Hong Kong ruu.
Then, also install HTC Sync to make sure your computer will recognize your phone.
Then run the RUU with your phone connected to your computer via USB.
I recently did this and it worked perfectly.
Good luck.

I can't seem to find the 2.1 files... There's an option for HTC Sync 2 if you've already got Eclair...
I have found Stock 2.1 ROM on here which could be of use but now I can't seem to install the recovery image so I can install them...
Well I have managed to root it once again as nothing else seemed to work... I then tried to use ROM Manager to install a Custom Recovery like I did before but all I get once it has flashed is the exclamation mark...
I recall last time I used this I ended up using an alternative one it offers at the bottom (RA 1.7?) but this hasn't improved the situation either...
Any thoughts?
After countless hours of research, I decided to unlock my bootloader and to root my Motorola Atrix 4G. With success, I was happy to have everything working and installed the Darkside Custom Rom. I let a friend borrow my phone, and they saw the AT&T system update and they decided to install it. They bring back the phone and the system update has finished and was installing. The phone powers off and starts to install the update. 10% into the install, it stops, and I got the little green droid man with the /!\ behind him. I take out my battery, place it back in after 30seconds. It powers on, boots up, powers off and tries to load the update again. I restart it, but this time quickly going into RomManager and starting it up in Recovery Mode. I go to restore the phone using the file I backed up from the TitaniumBackUp app, everything backs up except the system. I plug my phone into my laptop, and everything is in the folder. I performed a system/factory reset, downloaded the last Gingerbread update, but nothing helps. Anything I try to load it says "Installation aborted". No matter if it's the original update or a ROM I download. Looking up other forums, I notice others that have downloaded the Darkside ROM have had the same; if not similar issues. I apologize for the length of this message, but I wanted to put in as much detail as I could so you know exactly what the issue is. I look forward to hearing from someone, and thank you in advance!!!
You probably need to sbf it back to a stock ROM and start over. I had a similar problem when I first got my Atrix and the AT&T update first came out. I had already rooted it and didn't unlock the bootloader yet. It tried to update and bricked the phone. Got AT&T to give me another though as I had just got the thing.

Thanks a ton! How would I go about doing that?
You need to download motorola RSD app to you computer. Search XDA for stock firmwares and download one. You will then need to use the button combo to get in to RSD. Connect the phone to your computer and make sure it recognizes. I had an issue where one of my laptops would not recognize the phone for anything. I had to use a different laptop. Once it's done you should be back to stock. The bootloader should be unlocked still. Just root and flash your ROM of choice.

So I might be the only person on Verizon who has this problem (I've researched all over the place). I have an issue that is driving me mad with this update. Yesterday, while at work, I was able to update to that preliminary update (the 14mb one) without issue. Immediately after the phone rebooted, I was prompted to download the 500+ mb Sense 5 update. Everything seemed to go well. The update downloaded, the phone rebooted, and started installing the update. Then, about a quarter through the update, the Red Triangle of the Stock Recovery appears, cutting off the update. Out of curiosity, I held up the volume-up and power buttons, and the Recovery Menu came up. On the bottom, where it describes the various processes going on, it says:
Verifying Update Package...
Installing Update...
Verifying Current System...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/apache-xml.odex", "ad2209bdf836715d79558f2fe9c0d474e655afb6", "671aa4acd71a88a36aa5774b9d5334e1a9373162")
Installation aborted.
I have tried everything. I wiped Cache, Did a Factory Reset in three different ways (from the actual OS, from the bootloader menu, and from the Recovery, and every time, the same thing seems to happen. I am effectively stuck on that preliminary update, with nowhere to go. Does anybody have any advice? The phone was never rooted, no S-Off, and the bootloader has always been locked. I'd rather not have to send this one in to VZW, as it was a replacement for a phone that had the SIM card error. This one has been fine for months, so I'm hesitant to get it replaced.
Same here
I am having the same issue. The only issue that I am having is with a book.apk file. Hopefully someone will have a solution.
We're either of you rooted to begin with? If so I believe the OTA update will fail.
Make sure you have several gigs of free space on the phone.
Apply update with full battery or mostly full with charger hooked up.
Or backup, root the phone and download one of the stock update images here on xda.
Good luck.

Try Running the 3.06 RUU here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38379254&postcount=19
I rooted the phone before the updates. My phone's Software is 2.08.605.1 Android 4.1.1 and Sense 4+. Where can I download the new Android and Sense version for my phone without doing the OTA update?
Just look in the XDA DNA development forum, scroll down a little ways and you will see posts for the download. There are odex, deodexed, and superstock versions. I am running the superstock with no problems.

Thanks for the reply. I used "DNA-Super-Stock-Sense 5-3.06.605.4-v1.0" through Rom Manager and it worked like a charm. As far as I can see it will update OTA if Verizon actually sends out kitkat.
Thanks again.
Hi guys I really need help at this point,
I have an AT&T HTC One M8 originally I was on Skydragon rom rooted till I found out MM was finally available. I then relocked my phone and flashed original firmware to get back to origianal. I tried The OTA at that time but no luck. So I downloaded the MM ruu file from HTC.com and still no luck. I tried like 5 times and it would get stuck step 2 of 2 sending rom to phone... After a few times and calling htc still no luck. The rep said it would be ok to just disconnect and everything was fine I guess. Today I came across a thread here on xda in which a member mentioned flashing the MM firmware first then try the ruu again. The firmware updated but the ruu is still not working. Still stuck on step 2 of 2 sending rom to phone for almost 3 hours now... The biggest problem now is unlike the last times when I tried disconnecting this time my phone would not start. it just gets stuck on white HTC logo screen and that's it... so frustrating... so now I am without phone - please help!
it allowed me to try to run the ruu again but still stuck at the same spot and still wont startup.
someone anyone please help!
side not everyone mentioned memory possibly being the issue - well I checked and I have 21 gb of internal memory:crying: available so...
last thing: I also tried flashing back to stock ruu and now it wont let me after flashing the firmware so i have no idea what to do now.

I tried The OTA at that time but no luck. What does that mean "no luck"? Any error messages, how far did it get, what were the specific results?

Still stuck on step 2 of 2 sending rom to phone for almost 3 hours now... There is a connectivity issue, probably due to PC configuration. Win7 and USB2.0 have the best compatibility. If Win10, you can try to run the RUU in Win7 compatibility mode, and see if that helps. Try another USB port, try another cable. You may have to resort to another PC, if you have access to one.
side not everyone mentioned memory possibly being the issue - well I checked and I have 21 gb of internal memory:crying: available so... The free storage issue (need 14 GB free, maybe more) only applies to the OTA, from what I've seen. It doesn't apply to the RUU.
last thing: I also tried flashing back to stock ruu and now it wont let me after flashing the firmware so i have no idea what to do now. "Stock firmware" meaning what (exact filename)? I assume you mean Lollipop (LP) RUU as "stock" means different things to different folks - so you need to be specific. Once you've flashed the MM firmware, you can't run the LP RUU, unless you find and flash the LP firmware first. The firmware needs to match the RUU, in other words (thanks to some new requirement HTC added with the MM RUU). But seeing as the goal it to RUU to MM, I'd not mess with going backwards at this point, and focus on getting the MM RUU to work.

You really need to stop posting "no luck" without giving any details. I advised you on that earlier, and I don't like repeating myself. What does that mean "no luck"? Please give as much detail as possible. You didn't specify whether the firmware actually installed or not. How far did the firmware install get? What was the output on the screen? Any error messages? Did you flash the firmware twice (which is usually required)?
Its clear you have some general connectivity issue. Until you solve it, you can run RUUs forever, and they will still fail.
Did you try a different cable (as I previously advised)? Is the phone in fastboot mode when you try to RUU? Any response to command: fastboot devices

ok I apologize. The mm firmware did install correctly as far as I can tell. Then tied the mm ruu again but still hung at step 2/2 sending rom image. Only difference hat time s when I tried to disconnect I was stuck on white htc screen. I also tried new cable. and yes I did mostly everything in fastbot mode. fastboot seems to be working ok.
Could you boot a TWRP recovery img from fastboot and then use it to restore a NANDroid backup? This assumes you're still having problems.
So it has been a VERY, VERY, long time since I attempted to root a device. I admit, that I completely forgot most of what I knew from back in the day rooting like the Motorola OG Droid. Here's the deal. I tried rooting a USC XT1526 and I had no idea what I was doing. I followed the steps through and managed to install TWRP and SU. So I assume I got full root. Well The issue started after I got an UPDATE AVAILABLE message and tried to go through with the OTA Update. When it got to the point of installing the OTA Update, my device turned off like normal but instead of updating, it booted into TWRP recovery. It didn't update at all and when I booted my phone normally, it kept trying to update so my phone turn off (loop) every time it tried to install the update. I did a factory reset and it stopped rebooting. I later tried to flash back to fully stock but I believe I might have downloaded the wrong file because I now have a device with no WiFi. Can someone please help me.
