I have got LG L9 II with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 with kernel 3.4.0 (no newer firmware from LG nor other unofficial ports).
I paired with it my Scala Rider G4 (by Cardo Systems) motorcycle bluetooth headset.
Pairing went OK, audio is transmitted by headset. But BT buttons do not work (almost) at all:
- initialize call, end call (Media Button?) - no reaction after one press,
- same button pressed twice - phone starts redialing last number (this is not default action of headset),
- volume up pressed once - no reaction,
- volume up long pressed - next song in player,
- volume down - no action.
With Nokias Symbian, or even Android 4.0.4, headset worked great.
I tried many apps like:
- Bluetooth Launcher,
- Tasker,
- Bluetooth Hedset Control
They simply did nothing.
So I thought, that maybe there are strange key mappings for that device. I tried KeyNumerTracker and ButtonRemapper from this forum (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464) - no reaction, like I did not press any button.
What can I do? Can I somehow check, whether BT buttons are received by phone? And change that strange reaction for dbl-press, long press?
After upgrading to Kitkat nothing changed

Don't really mess with BT stuff much, but found this: http://www.cardosystems.com/user_files/Manuals/scala_G4/scalarider_G4_manual_english.pdf
If you go to Page 6, it has info about updating the software of your BT device and mentions being able to customize some parts of it. Maybe it'll allow you to remap or the software update might make it more compatible with your current set up?
I did upgrade to newest firmwarevof Scala as one of first steps. It changed nothing. I also did some experiments with my BT headset Nokia BH-202 - same results, button does not work.
But I discovered funny thing - when there is incoming phone, I can answer it and later end with my headsets button (both Scala and Nokia), so buttons do not work only in standby mode.

Hi guys!
My current phone is a Thl W200 and it's got Jelly Bean 4.2.1 and I'm rooted.
My problem is with the headphone button which does not work. Before I had a Sony Xperia J and the headphones that I have used to work with it( the button, when pressed, did various commands such as play/pause/next etc.) but now the button does absolutely nothing when I play a media file.
I've run a few tests and I found out that my smartphone has CTIA standard (just like the Xperia J) and my headphones are compatible so there's no problem there. I also tried with a CTIA to OMTP cable to see if it works and nothing, the button doesn't control the music player.
One strange thing that I noticed is that if I get a phone call and I press the headphone button the call is answered, so it must work, somehow; Plus if I keep the button pressed the screen is locked and unlocked.
So my question is, if anyone knows, what can I do in order to use that little headphone button in order to control the music player?
P.S- I've also tried a few apps such as button controller, philips headset manager etc but they didn't work, the click was not registered.
Oh and another thing, I installed the key test app and when I pressed the headphone button the app didin't register any keys being pressed.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!
I have a samsung wired headset that has volume control buttons and an answer button. On my z ultra the answer button raises the volume instead (it does not work as an answer button). The volume buttons work (so basically the volume+ and answer buttons do the same thing). I have tested the headset on other android phones (nexus 5, galaxy ace 3, xperia S), and all the buttons work as they should.
Note also that the included sony headset, that has an answer button but no volume keys, works properly on the z ultra (that is the answer key functions as an answer key), as well as on all other phones.
So, any idea why the z ultra does not respond properly to the samsung's answer button?
In my previous phone LG G2, any headphone with audio control would work without a problem (that have three buttons (Vol +, pause , Vol -), double clicking Vol+ will skip to the next song, and Vol- to get to the previous song.
In my xperia Z2, that is not the issue, pause button will raise the volume up, the same thing to Vol+ button.
even the headhpones with the only mic and one button will raise the song volume instead of pausing.
Is there any way to fix this ?
Never had this issue, and I've used many types of headsets with my device (htc, samsung, sony, nokia) and even bt stereo headsets.
is this happening with the Walkman app only, or with any audio app you use ? have you tested other apps ?
Yes, it is universal, some people mentioned because Z2 use connector CTIA instead of the older OMTP standard, but apperantly is not that, some people get to headset to work and others not.
Hey, what's everyone using for headphones/earphones that are fully compatible with the Z2? I have the stock Samsungs, only the volume buttons work for volume - but the stop/start button doesn't work as intended, as well as not letting you skip tracks or go to the previous track (double or triple press).
I'm looking to buy a set that works.
I've heard the Xiaomi works fully on updated devices (running 5.0.2) and also maybe the Apple ones?
Cheers
I am currently looking for new ones too.
I can state that the Jays Five for Android worked just fine with my Z2. Unfortunately i broke them.
The Nocs NS500 have the same problem with the middle button
On my Klipsch S4i (Apple), the middle button and sound work, but not the upper and bottom buttons.
maybe buy SHB20 and use them with any good IEMs? i dont know how the sound quality is affected but i'm planning to do the same with my z2.
Can cinfirm, Xiaomi pistons work. ?
I have a big problem with Bluetooth volume control of hands free system in my car. Connection is good but when I have a conversation I can not control volume from my phone. It is set to max and the sound is very distorted. In volume panel in phone appears extra canal with probably microphone icon but it controls nothing. In developer options I found option "turn off bluetooth absolute volume" but checkin it also makes nothing. The situation as I described was in originał global rom and also in new miui.eu rom. My phone is Redmi Note 4 (snapdragon) and my car is Renault Espace 4. Can anyone advice me what shall I do to solve this problem?
(when I paired smartphones of other brands ie. Samsung, Umi, Jiayu everything works fine)
After 2 days:
I've checked this issue with Slim 7 Rom and Resurrection Remix Rom. In both there is no control of bluetooth volume during connection in my car but the volume level in Slim7 Rom was lower, and sound was less distorted. Apps like Bluetooth Volume also did not work.
