Hey all, so I'm using an shv-210S here in Korea, but I actually use KT service. The phone operates fine, but there are some annoying things like, not being able to use wifi hotspots on subways/buses, and not being able to receive OTA updates.
So my question is, is it possible to flash a shv-210K rom onto my shv-210S device? As far as I know, the hardware is near identical[?]. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just bought a used X10a today, Not my first android but my first rooted phone, (bought it rooted and unlocked. It is running 2.2.1) and there alot of issues and I just can't seem to find out what exactly I need to do so I can actually use this phone. First off it was originally a AT&T phone, I use Cincinnati Bell so the unlock is a must.
My first big issue is no matter what I am doing swiping through menus, screens, options you name it, it is laggy and jittery and half the time wont move just goes nuts for a few seconds.
The next issue is I can not for the life of me get 3g to work, edge works but no 3g. I used the exact apn settings as my other phone which is an unlocked tmobile and works fine but not on this one.
my last problem is I am missing tons of the factory installed apps, I do not mean the bloatware and irratating things that come on phones that arent needed, but things that I really need like a music app, the maps app, the email apps, all of that. All I have are the bare bones needed to run stuff, dialer, and messaging. That wouldnt be to big of a deal but nothing on the market will download it says download unsuccessful every time for any app, So i am not able to get all the things i am missing.
Also I do not know if it matters but I feel I need to mention it, The About Phone section on the phone says it is a x10i but the phone is actually an x10a so I do not know if that has anything to do with my problem but throwing it out there.
I really like this phone but I can't use it like this. What I need to do is either downgrade it to a rooted 2.1 so I have everything and it works or get a good 2.2 rom that will actually work. The problem is I have never rooted a phone so I do not know what steps to take let alone adjusting a phone that is already rooted.
So would it be possible for me to downgrade to a proven working 2.1 rom or is there a 2.2 rom for this phone that is proven to work and not cause all these issues I am having right now?
All help is greatly appreciated,
Cody
Cody,
CBW uses TMO's 3G infrastruacture (1700+2100 frequency bands). X10a is equipped with a radio that works on AT&T's 3G bands (850+1900) but not TMO's. X10a does not work on TMO's (therefore CBW's) 3G. It's a hardware issue. For 2G you won't have any problem. Therefore the fastest data speed you can get with X10a on CBW is EDGE. On the other hand, X10i should work on CBW 3G.
I would say that what it says on the "About Phone" section probably doesn't matter. I tried a tons of custom and stock ROMs available here with a variety of radio firmware but I haven't experienced any difficulty with AT&T. Then again you are trying to use X10a on TMO.

This should help you with some of your other problems. Rooting and flashing a ROM on X10 is very very easy, thanks to all the developers here who contributed.
With my phone already being rooted and flashed would I still do it just as if it was all stock?
My only other question is would a generic 2.1 rom still leave the phone unlocked for use with any sim?
Thanks, Cody
I'm not a tech but from what I understand and I did in the past, once SIM is unlocked, the phone will stay unlocked no matter what firmware you flash, including a generic 2.1 ROM.
Rooting and recovery are different. When you flash a stock SE 2.1 ROMs, you will lose root and recovery. That's where the flashtool comes in handy to get root and flash recovery again.
For a those running SGS2 on T-Mobile, is it possible to get their wifi calling feature installed?

No. People with other T-Mobile Android phones couldn't do it or had to make bizarre changes to their rooted phones in order to get it half-working. It's deeply imbedded in to the phone OS. Use Skype or one of the other VoIP solutions in the marketplace.

Thanks for the quick response. Bummer. The prob with Skype is that it isn't free calling like with the Tmo app.
Will look into the alternatives or just wait it out when TMo releases an official Samsung SG2 equivalent.

In my 5 minute read up on this, it "should" work similar to the wifi calling app, correct?
Do you know of anyone confirming iWLAN is working for them?
anyone have success with iWlan?
has anyone tried it? did it work? Tmo now has a new stock rom out for the SGH-T989 that is supposed to have Tmo WiFi calling on it, but am afraid i will lose root if i flash it. Anyone try the tmo stock? can i get root back on it?
If you search there is already a 2.3.6 root if you update via kies software.. Yes, you will lose root to update to the 2.3.6, but you can unroot it again via odin..
Orange UK have a wifi app for the S2, it only works on Orange here in the UK as it has to be enabled on the network side. Here's a link with instructions on how to get it working

Not sure if it'll be off any help or not.
I know i've just asked a question about flashing a stock kernel, but i just have this last one and i'll free up your boards for other people with questions
So i went to italy a month ago, and i noticed that i couldn't make any phone calls or use the internet on my phone. I'm on T-Mobile UK and i was wondering if it was because i've rooted my phone.
My sister on the same network with a Desire HD had both he ability to make calls/text as well as surf the internet.
Data roaming was definitely enabled in my settings, so is there something i'm meant to do to a rooted phone to allow me to roam?
Once again thanks for your help
If anyone could help i'd be really grateful. i often have to go to other countries and would like this to be sorted because i quite often need my phone to work in other countries.
Did you talk to your provider, they may need to refresh the settings on your account.
Hey guys,
I'm from India and I bought the I9300 International version, although the Download mode shows SGH-I747 and unlocked I think. The build number on the device is JSS15J.I9300ZSENA1. It runs on Android 4.3 Jellybean and is the Pebble Blue version.
I'm using Reliance carrier on it and having frequent call drops, connectivity issues and texting problems as well. Then I get this security notice which asks me to boot the device repeatedly and I don't have any clue why that happens.
Now, my main problem is that I can't use the device for calling purposes as well texting.
So, how can I fix this? When I tried to update the firmware, I found the At&t text on it. That made me think that this might be the right place to post. Anyway, will changing the ROM to a Custom one like Cyanogen help to fix this issue? I need some help with this as I spent some decent bucks on it.
Some screenshots that might help.

Disable svoice. Its rubbish anyway.
The call drops could be network signal swapping bands or an issue with the carrier.
If you are sure it's the phone acting up the only real fix is to reflash the stock rom.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
The strange thing is, I9300 is a AT&T version. i always thought I747 was the AT&T version. But anyway, will reflashing the stock ROM work somewhat with call issues?
And thanks for the SVoice advice.
Hey all, been using this phone for a while and even though I'm frustrated with the 888 chip's heat output I'm still using it for now. That said, next year most network providers are disabling 3G Networks and by extension, calls. I'd rather not have a £800 brick that can only call on Wi-Fi/WhatsApp so I'd like to know if anyone in the UK specifically has had success bypassing this issue. Is it as simple as flashing a different region firmware onto it? Is that even possible? All help/guidance is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I do know that the phone has to be supported by at least one vendor in your country (one which offers VoWifi/VoLTE). In that case, you'd just have to flash firmware associated with that vendor in your phone. There may be bloatware, depending on that vendor's customization.
Needless to say; your SIM card must also be provisioned for that feature by your own network provider.
