I recently bought the Google Nexus 5 which had android 4.4.2 out of the box. The phone is awesome but there's only one problem: its battery drains out too fast. My phone has been lying idle since 7am in the morning and its 11 am right now and its already down to 65% (mobile data is on though). Iv to charge my phone atleast twice a day. My friend has the same phone but he hasnt updated to android 4.4.2 and his phone runs almost a day with medium usage.
According to the battery stats, Android app is draining most of my battery (47%) which is even more than the screen. Is this normal? And is there anything i can do to fix this problem?
My WiFi is swiched off. My screen brightness is set to 30% and iv disabled google plus as i read in some forum it causes the battery drain, Iv also disabled google now and location settings are also switched off.

I been using using the the Elelinux gingerbread rom and have not have the greatest battery life I turned off wifi Bluetooth and my internet connection on my phone and in a hour I lost 15% I did not to anything in that hour does anyone know how I can increase the battery but I never lost 15% in an before like that I normally lost 0% but today when I fully charged it this happened does anyone know his to increase the battery life
Go to:
Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Use and check what is draining your battery.
You may also use consider lower Min CPU frequency. I'm running on 19 MHz.
i did nothing it that hour with my phone all i did with my phone an placed it on a table and watched tv
You might did nothing but some widget could drain battery like hell Check battery usage as per my first post. I'm using Elelinux-7.0.0-RC0-Hero-v0.7 and my battery life is very good, with all stuff "on" except BT.
but after i while the battery life a bit better
Have you tried to reboot? I just realized that after first reboot after I flashed new rom Android Service process was draining my battery like hell (3 times more than Display), my phone was down within 3h. But after I rebooted everything was ok.
I have a Captivate running Dark Knight's 4.0.4 and the battery life I get is very poor. Usually it says that Android OS or Google Services is taking about 30, 40+ percent in battery life. I get about only 10 hours of use with the device, and i still get battery drain even when it is in sleep. I've checked better battery stats and gtalk_async_conn has been waking up the device. I disabled all syncing, and in the Play Store disabled automatic checking for updates. I've tried calibrating my battery also but nothing, mainly since the phone cant turn on for some reason while it is charging. But no matter what I do, that process is still killing my battery. Does anyone know how to fix this? I had the phone off and charging for 12 hours, and 1 hour has past since i turned it on, using the phone for about 3 minutes, and the rest of the time it was in sleep, and the battery is down to 91%. Please Help!
My DNA battery has gone crazy. Last night the battery was at 66%, I restarted it and the battery went up to 76%. Today, the battery was at 33%, I rebooted it and the battery dropped to 17%. After that I rebooted it again to see if it would go back up and it dropped to 14%. So I did it one last time and that battery then went up to 24%. I dont get it and on top of that my battery life has been terrible recently.
To try to extend it I have installed Lux to manage the screen brightness, I have turned off backup and Google Location Service.
I got Nova Launcher yesterday to see if that helps, I'm using Greenify to close apps and CleanMaster to get rid of junk. I dont use Google Now or have any apps sync/receive notifications besides Messages and Phone. I can't get through the day and I don't use my phone from 7am to 12 in the afternoon.
I have 25 apps installed from Google Play and all the bloatware and useless apps disabled. I use Next Browser instead of Stock/Chrome
Any solutions or suggestions

Maybe just try to do full cycles with the batter to re-calibrate it, charge it up 100%+ and drain it 99%, rinse/repeat a few times.

Ive read that you arent supposed to drain the battery and this phone is unpredictable for when it will turn off from a low battery.
Sometimes it turns off at 8%, sometimes it might turn off at 2%

You're right about draining the battery however we cannot fully drain these batteries. The system shuts the phone down when it hits a certain level, however you can still power the device back on after it does this, thus the battery still has charge and not fully drained.
And yes they can be unpredictable.
Mine will shut down when it gets to about 5 percent but I was using it one time and it went from 8 to 2 in a second and powered itself down. I think they all act weird when they get really low but your issue sounds like the battery is on its last leg.

According to your battery stats, what's draining the battery the most? Also download GSam battery stats to get a more detailed look at the apps and services that are consuming battery.
Maybe your battery is past its prime, but you want to be sure its not an app or service draining things before giving up.
My Droid 3 and 4 are still going strong as long as I charge them fully and then periodically drain them to 10%.
Hi there!
Since I updated from CM 10.2 to CM 11, I've been having battery drain issues with my S3. It drains really quickly, and won't last me through the day most of the time. Today I unplugged the phone at 6AM, and by 2:30PM, the battery level was at 10%. It was after 2PM that it started losing like 1% of battery every minute or so (even when not in use!) so I switched to airplane mode in order for the battery to last until I got home. Also note that I only used the phone for a while today (1hr 23 mins - see battery stats) and the usage was light - 20 mins music playback, one Bluetooth transfer, 15 mins WiFi tethering, 5 mins Hill Climb Racing - these are the most 'demanding' things I did with the phone. What really shocked me was that around 2PM, my friend's Huawei phone was at 60%, while mine was at 20%, but he'd had 2.5 hrs of screen time while I only had 1 hour. Not to mention his phone is more powerful and has a better screen...
I have Location set to Battery saving mode and have Location Reporting & History as well as the hotword recognition thingy turned off.
I've been on CM 11 since January, and recently updated my phone from M2 snapshot to the M3 version. While updating, I wiped the cache, dalvik cache and wiped all user data, thinking it would fix the battery drain. It didn't. Back on the M2 snapshot I tried greenifying Facebook, Messenger, Google+ and WhatsApp, but that also didn't solve the problem.
Also, about a month ago, I bought a new (original) charger for the phone, because the old one wouldn't charge the S3 when in use and when not in use, it would charge really slowly (like only 70% overnight in a few cases). The new charger fixed those issues, but could the battery drain be connected with the charger issue? Could the battery be damaged or dead? Or do you think it's a CM/Android issue?
I'll probably try to buy a new original battery, but I wanted to discuss this as a new battery might not fix it.
Thanks!

BETTER BATTERY STATS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539568
I did perform a search and I know there are many threads about battery life but thought my problem was a bit different so I made a new thread. Thanks for the links, though. Even though I've already done many of the suggested tips from the guide, I switched to ART yesterday and installed Better Battery Stats.
Now, 13.5 hours since unplugged, I have 37 % of battery left with 2 hours of screen on time. I guess enabling ART might have helped a bit...
Just a question, what am I supposed to look for in Better Battery Stats? I mean, is it Kernel Wakelocks or Partial Wakelocks that drain the battery more?
Oh and btw, the second link took me to OnePowerGuard Pro not Better Battery Stats. Just saying.
Hi! I have a Galaxy S6 edge for a few weeks and I am disappointed in the battery life. It drained from 100% to 65% in the ultra power saving mode with turned off screen and disabled any network conntections within 5 hours! I really dont know what to do... I use Clean Master and Greenify and deactivated most of the services running in background and I didnt get any solutions. Please help!
the battery drainage could be due to the fact you use CM and greenify…
if I'm on 100% and I turn on ultra mode i get over a days use.. what do you have running in the background?
Hi, I had the same problem.
What made it better for me: I cleaned the cache and used phone till 0% till it shut downed and then let it charged overnight.
Today is first day and at the moment i have had 2% battery drain per hours on idle, 4G turned on.

I am just using WhatsApp Facebook etc... there are not special apps that could extremely drain my battery running in background. I factory reseted my phone and will activate the ultra power saving mode this night to and I will see. Thanks for replies.
