Messed up my phone. Odin won't flash stock. - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, well it all started with my SD card. I thought I'd fix it by putting a rom on my internal SD and flash it.
But without even thinking it was on my internal SD I used the Mega wipe script... Now my phone is empty and Odin won't flash stock rom.

I presume you have a custom recovery installed seeing has you where originally going to flash from internal memory? If you can still boot into recovery have you tried to place a rom on eternal sd card and flash from there..Is there a problem with sd card if so what?

I can think of 3 options:
1) Try to flash again using Odin 3.09- you're using a very old version...
2) If you don't have access to recovery- try to flash Philz with odin
3) Try to find 4-parts rom installation (seperated PDA,Modem,CSC,PIT)- i've never checked, so continue with caution.
Perhaps this might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187081

Can't you put file on SD card after removing it and then put the ROM file on SD card by SD card reader and then flag through extsdcard..if not then check if proper drivers are installed.. And also try to change USB cable if that works
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app

I was told that using older versions of Odin sometimes work better then the latest versions. Anyway I'd like to thank you all for the informative replies. I managed to fix it by going into CWM recovery and choose "reboot to bootloader" from the advanced menu.
It seemed to have triggered a download mode which allowed me to flash.
And no, my SD wasn't recognized by anything. Not on PC nor recovery.

I was getting the same error using the USB ports on the side of my PC. Make sure your using ports on the motherboard itself.

[Q] CWM - Error mounting /sdcard - thanks for the help :)

I've read a few random Galaxy related topics on the SD card not mounting, but Im worried about using methods from other devices on this device.
In Rom manager premium, Flash ClockworkMod recovery was used, selected Vibrant, it said no official recovery, and asked if I had installed version 2 or 3 of CWM. I selected 2 and it said its using CWM with Rom Manager.
Well now anytime I reboot into recovery, or try to flash a rom from Rom Manager Premium it cannot mount the SD card.
I go into mounts and storage and try and mount the SD, nothing.
Is this something as simple as re-partitioning the SD? Or has something corrupted in my recovery?
BTW, XDA, you guys ROCK!! I dont post usually, cause I dont need to! Except this time
The guides and walk through here are so easy I usually never have troubles. Rooted and rom MANY different android models for work here All thanks to XDA!

[Q] SD card ( mini ) from 8 (7.78 ) GB to 6.4 GB

I have a Sandisk mini SD card which is 8GB (7.78 ).
When Installed Custom Rom . I tried something with CMW and formatted and partitioned it. It showing now is 6.4Gb space and 1.38GB space is missing.
I checked with DiskManagement. it showed the rest 1.38 GB space. I tried to Unmount that and now its showing 2 drive in 1 SD card.
There is no option to change that to 1 ( 8GB ) Drive.
Need Help.
Thank you,
Ravi Nazre
Edit:
Now it does not show the unmounted Space in the Diskmanagement. I am Amazed! but most important here is how to get it back to normal.

Hi beston94,
Thanks for your Help.
I tried the Panasonic SD formater. That shows 6.41 GB. I tried FULL WRITE Erase. Still the same. Now it does not show in Disk Management that there is an unallocated space. I have attached the screenshot.

You obviously re-partitioned the SD card to have 6.4 gb and 1.38 gb partitions. You will have to re-partition the SD card again. Formatting alone won't re-partition the card. It will just wipe what is on the main partition, which looks like the 6.4 portion.
Yeah!
So How do i re-partition the SD card again ?
What are the steps involved without using a 3rd party software ? ( If there is.. )
or Please let me know the name of the software which does that.

Formatting internal SD card?

Going to sell my DNA but I want to wipe it. I am first going to do the traditional wipe and re-install the ROM. Then I want to clean off the SD card. I have TWRP. If I do a wipe of just the internal sd card will it keep my system untouched so I can boot into the ROM?
Connect the phone to PC, delete all files on the phone, place stock ROM onto the phone, boot to recovery do a full wipe (system, data, cache, dalvik) The ROM should still be in data/media. Flash it, reboot, connect to PC, delete ROM file and don't run setup.
There may be a better way but as far as I know the internal card contents won't wipe unless you explicitly choose it. If you can do that from recovery then that will work.
Wipe as normal, flash ROM, then in advanced wipe choose internal storage, swipe to wipe, done. Fresh ROM and no SD card contents.

I have'nt sold a phone in awhile but if there's any photos you don't wnat out I'd look into a way to overwrite the contents of the internal storage as well.

I have a script for that, it uses dd and writes over the entire data partition with zeroes. Takes forever, but literally zeroes out the SD card and the rest of data, so even apps or app data are gone.

I wouldn't mind using your script.

[Q] Android phone stopped recognizing my SD card

Here's the deal.
Today I woke up to my phone charging by the night... but it downcharged to 15% of batterry. I reboot it and find out that my SD card showed up info of being "empty". The minitool partition wizard on a PC shows me that info:

no no, the memory card is 8GB not 32MB.
How to recover the partitions? Also, the SD card has been partitioned for use with app2sd programs with this tut: http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SD_card_partitioning, because my phone (HTC Explorer "Pico") has a very small amount of internal memory. The rom was stock though.
Of course I could re-format it, but I don't want to, because the data stored there was very special to me. I want to recover it.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
I had that same problem a while back. I unmounted the SD Card and put it in another phone and it still said the same. So I soft reset my first phone, put the SD Card back in, and all was good.

But the card couldn't be recognized on a Linux, on a DMDE, SD Formatter, HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool, and primary on a TestDisk and on a GParted, and one big nothing was achieved.... You say that if I just soft reset the android phone, everything will be back to normal? Did you had the exactly same problem? You know, I need to clarify things before I do something that could destroy entirely my data.
I didn't have the exact problem just something similar and a soft reset (which will do no harm) worked for me. If the SD card can't be read any other ways then I don't know anything else other than formating the SD card.

[HELP] Internal SD Card Gone, stock firmware won't flash

First of all, this is not related to any unsuccessfull flash process, I got my S3 in 2012 and it worked like a charm after many flash processes. The last ROM is - was :'( - Blekota Note 4 Lite 5.2
The problem came when this morning, I plugged my phone to charge, it was 3% battery, I left it for 1 hour and when I came back, the back of the phone was very hot and the phone screen hanging on the first image of boot animation. I unplugged it and removed battery, once turned on, it did not leave the samsung logo. I suppose the chip simply fried...
I was looking for a solution and found something that may be for help, but the solution i found was for SGS-I9000, the process did not work for my S3 (this one with two others related to sgs1), I formatted the sd card with 16GB Ext 4 and 16GB Fat32.
As I am not familiar with scripts and linux commands, my question is simple:
Is there a way to install a ROM in external SD card ? my phone starts in download mode and I am able to flash TWRP (or any other recovery) via odin, this one shows me Internal SD card capacity as 0 when I try to install anything. See attachments below, the red messages appear also when trying to flash stock firmware , after the first reboot (I9300XXEMD3_I9300OJVEMC1_I9300XXEMA5)

If you cant mount anything, its either your internal storage is burnt too or corrupted from being affected by the burn. Your s3 might be basically destroyed

That's the point of trying to install system in external SD
Unfortunately that is impossible. Sorry
