Your phone is draining your battery
Usual simple solution .
wipe phone install stock/original firmware and no apps .
Test for drain .
Check overnight drain with WiFi and GPS OFF should be 2-4%.
install better battery stats ..
gradually add a few apps at a time and check drain .

you have lost 10% in nearly 6 hours with Wi-Fi on? Turn Wi-Fi off!

Checked you stats just now..you have lost 10% in 5 and half hours..that is not bad..though your phone was awake for only 1 min but wifi was on for the whole time..wifi connection eats up battery even when not in use..though the data is insufficient for any surmise..i suggest you take these stats again after you battery has drained to 10-15% level..
just hard reseted my phone and flashed lh1 but i think the phone was running quite warm so now im flashign blg3.. i gotta get up in a few hours :/
First day of school, seems to keep it up atleast. not as great as i had before.. Woundering if my phone was that warm that i expericend it to be with lh1 yesterday.. might test it again today. Will post a dumpfile tonight from my daily usage, Iv set wifi sleep plolicy to when screen is of but my wifi has been running 4 hours and screen 1..

I get a battery drain problem. when the screen is off, the battery drain is normal, but when i'm using my phone, no matter what I do, it drain 1% per 2 min(I think). And I'm not sure, but I think I have this problem on any Leak or Stock i'm on... ! what do I do?

Go into system settings > Battery and check what is using most battery.
If it's screen there's not much to do other than leave auto brightness on.
The phone does use a lot of juice when it's on though, undervolting and underclocking might help a bit...
download cpu spy and betterbattrrystats
1 double check your phone is going into deep sleep when u switch of screen
2 use betterbatterystats to find out what's using all ur juice ( disable all the things u can ie sync mobile data etc)
3 have u overlooked or undervolted
4 what is your max cpu freq set at.
5 once you've found rogue app remember to uninstall betterybatterystats otherwise it will eat your battery ( learnt from experience )
hope this helps

1 cpu spy tells who how long in each freq sTate your phone has been
make sure "deep sleep" got the most time
2 hmm dunno then
try setting screen brightness down.
don't worry about 3 4 5

the deep sleep has the most of the time. so as the 144MHz, about 1 hour, and the 200MHz, 1:24 hours.
how can I check what app uses the most of the 1400MHz and the 200Mhz???
It could be media scanner. Sometimes it get's stuck and keeps on running. You can download rescan media from playstore and disable it.

Not really. I'm a newbie myself so sorry mate.
You could post your better battery stats on its thread. People there usually analyze it for you.
But basically your looking for apps with high time and /or count.
Each count represents that app going out of deep sleep for a microsecond or less. So an app with a high count will be constantly waking up your phone even if it's total time is only a few seconds.

Try to use watchdow to see wichs apps/process/system process are using most of your cpu, ma xcpu freq (1400mhz) shouldn't be that high so maybe a rogue app is draining your battery
If you want to see the wakelocks i recomend using GSam battery monitor, in the app sucker you can see wich apps are waking your device an how many times, but you have to try out after a period of time
The other problem could be some corrupted media files that make your mediaserver drain a lot of battery, if so, check the .nomedia files in your sd, look for image not loading in the gallery, use an mp3 checker app to se if some of your music files are corrupted (search through xda, someano posted an utility to do this) and try to re-encode your mp3, in my case, this solved my issue
hope it helps

it could be a whole bunch of things, people won't be able to help if you don't post any info of your device rom/kernel, wifi on? gps on? screen brightness? all that needs to be taken into consideration.
The most common problems for battery drain are media scanner as mentioned earlier, Google maps, wifi is a big drainer even if you are IDLE for some reason wifi keeps on receiving something (i'm guessing it is the "keep alive" packet) but havent dug into it, also found that "Samsung push Service" was sucking juice so I froze the bugger, the last thing I found on my S3 (runing Wanam's leaked JB DLH4) was "DRM Protected content" for some reason it kept coming up so I froze the sucker with Titanium backup and i'm doing around 20 to 21 hours average.
I've used Better Battery Stats, Battery Drain Analyzer and Android's own battery analyzer to keep track of my usage.
I hope anything of this helps you and good luck on your findings.

2) I didn't made full wipe, i upgraded my stock ICS via ODIN into JB DLI4 and then upgraded with odin into DLI5. All stable, super smoooth but life seems short on it.

Let your battery do 1 or 2 complete cycles and then judge it..when you do a fresh install a lot of syncing goes on in the background..

Then you should do a full wipe and report after at least 3 charge discharge cycles.
You could try wiping your battery stats in the advanced menu from recovery too before you start your discharges. Some people say this doesn't do anything but it only takes a second so can't hurt. I always do it after a full wipe. That way you're starting from a clean slate

Battery life on LI5 is a bit worse than LH1 but not by much.
I think it's around 15-20% worse overall.
Use betterbatterystats to find out what exactly is really causing the problems if it prevails after a full wipe. It might be that a couple of google apps synchronize at first in the backgroudn and cause a lot of battery consumption.
I use DLI5 and it only uses up about 1% in standby without energy saving. But i did some tricks to get there. For example, i disabled photo sync and google plus sync while my display is turned off (settings->data usage->disable background data for the apps that use up too much). Other than that, i don't use any battery saving apps and always have wifi on (even though this probably uses more energy than having it turned off at standby).
With some undervolting and bloatware removal plus sync tweaking the best idle drain I have achieved is 0.7percent/hr with all the apps I need. Very happy with that. Not on jb though. Ain't gonna test jb until it's officially out. Hopefully when it matures it should be on par if not better than ics
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I also had this issue. In my case I realized that android.procesd.media went crazy eating up cpu and also bandwidth and it wouldn't stop.
I could not find a solution, I did a complete wipe (formatting system and even internal sdcard). In the i dropped DLI5 and went back to DLI3.
Cheers

Betterbatterystats is suggested but i looked for this the other day coz i had some unusual battery drain going on - Full Wake lock bar!!
Seems that is a purchase app only so looked for a free alternative - came across GSam Battery Monitor - Free app - which is great and supplys alot of useful info. (used to be called badassbatterymonitor apparently)
Found that for some reason that the hotmail app was causing the wake lock so phone not going into deep sleep (not sure why, done it today too!!) so i just force stopped it.
Check that app out and look at hotmail app if installed. Can actually see the wake issue under normal battery status on phone to - like todays issue - shows hotmail as 6% battery use which is low compared to everything else but if i click on the hotmail line it then shows extra info including stay awake - mine is reading 2h 56m & 48s - well until i force stopped it.
Maybe this will be of some help:good:
No problems here, but then I removed all the bloatware inc kiesexe.
Use Better Battery Stats as someone mentioned. You could also try Watchdog task manager from the market. Set it up so it monitors the system level, that's off by default. Those two apps shall source the problem down to exactly what's up
Also don't compare battery use so quickly..... as has been said.

The ROM doesnt have an update because the devs have removed it because you just flash an update. As for the battery drain give it a few more days if the problem persists try another ROM. If it still persists after that try recalibrating the battery or resetting the fuel gauge chip.
Hope this helps

Hi,
NeatROM 3.5 is one of the best ROMs from battery backup perspective. And I can say that because I am using it since 3.5 came out and have never had any issues.
For a better battery life, follow the steps from the link,

Please note that the instructions are prepared to get the most out of your battery. Even if you follow the few ones that you are comfortable with, you will surely see some improvement.
Please press Thanks if this has helped you.

Its simple mate. Just download an app and hit a button.
Usually battery drain is due to one of two things.
-Phone not going into deep sleep
-Wakelocks.
Download an app like CPU spy. you can use it to see whether or not your phone is going into deep sleep like it should. Also, use better battery stats to look for wakelocks. Download the app from HERE , let it run for one battery cycle and then check for wakelocks. If you dont know what those are, spend some time reading that thread.
But if you want to hold off for a couple of days, you can do that. It does take some time for a phone battery to settle when a new rom/kernel has been installed, after which battery life tends to improve.

Thank you very much for your help mate. I've tried a couple of battery managers off play (juice defender and another one). Right now kind of regretting this download, everything seems to be going wrong;
1. battery is draining @ 15% in 20 mins ( I only bought the battery last week after having the phone unlocked).
2. there's a lot of lag
3. screens keep freezing and
4. keep losing reception and constantly having to restart phone.
I only downloaded this cause after unlocking my phone it failed to update. Is there any other that I can download that works well with SGS2?
There's no dearth of ROMs for the i9100 dude. Try a couple out and see if those help. If its stability you're after, maybe use an ICS Rom rather than JB.
15% in 20 mins isn't normal even for a first day..you sure it isn't a faulty battery right? Was it giving decent life before you switched to this ROM?
Try downloading a calibration app and see what the voltage is when it says its charged 100%. Should be around 4100-4200 mAh.
As for the lags and freezes, did you wipe data, cache etc before you installed this Rom?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I had cleared the cache in settings before installing. Like I said, my first time doing this. Seemed straight forward at the time.
Since my phone is unlocked, will it return to ics4.0.3 which is what I had before?
Battery calibration app is showing 4161mv.
Will a factory reset help?
Thanks for all the help, site can be a bit confusing sometimes lol.

Cache from settings? No. I meant clearing cache from the CWM recovery menu. If you installed the ROM via CWM, that is.
If you did, I'd suggest reinstalling it again via cwm this time clearing data, cache and dalvik cache.
Ok..I just realised I totally assumed you'd installed it using CWM. Not sure if you did.
You can return to 4.0.3 if you want. Download stock firmware from sammobile.com and install it via Odin. I'm sure there's a guide on how to do that somewhere on this site.
Just noticed someone posted instructions on maximising battery. Did you use those? It could explain the freezes if they started after that. Some phones just can't handle undervolting etc.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Morning, I downloaded some battery managers and seems to be working better and faster. Battery discharged 27% in 5 hours.
Will see how it goes over the next couple of days.
Teaches me a lesson to do my research first lol.
Below is a screen shot of the apps I installed.
Thanks and gave a great day!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Haha that's a lotta apps just to save battery. As long as it helps eh? 27% in 5 hours is pretty acceptable for moderately heavy use. Depends on your signal strength and whether you're using data or on WiFi etc.

Is anyone else getting Android OS around 50-60% battery use?
I have tried every ROM included going back to stock. I have ran the phone with nothing but Stock and no apps installed for a day and still get the same drain so I can only assume its a kernel issue.
I am not familiar with LG products in the slightest, but I had a yellow screen of death the other day...something I have never seen in my years with samsung android products. Anyone have any idea what this is maybe it is pointing to a hardware issue?
LG made a great phone, but I don't think I will keep it much longer. Locked boot loaders, no sources, and history of terrible updates have me regretting purchasing this phone. I tried my hand at building a working jb release when I first got the phone and it is going to take a skill set I do not have and I hate waiting on a company to do what they've never done in the past..

Easy, brother. I have only had one of my apps/utilities run higher than AndroidOS ever on this phone; however, that said, I think there is a problem with the way it's being calculated. I'm getting really good battery life with good sleep and still AndroidOS shows the highest by far. I know that's abnormal for it to be so high and still get good battery life, but it is what it is.
Edit: you've installed the fast dormancy toggle, right? As for the yellow screen, I've seen it once in my two months with the phone, just rebooted and carried on. Forgot what they said it was...but it is here in this forum somewhere.
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
I was just about to post something similar. Andriod OS being high kind of makes sense if nothing else is using the battery, although you would expect that number to fall significantly with increased screen on time and heavy app usage, which it doesn't ever seem to.
I've been having horrible battery drain lately. I'm currently traveling for business, and just use my OG for web surfing and stuff when I'm in my hotel. I leave the phone in airplane mode, with WiFi on. About two weeks ago, when I was on The Base 0.4 in that same configuration, my battery would drain maybe 1% an hour while I was sleeping.
Recently I've been on The Base 0.7.3, and my battery drains over 5% an hour while I'm sleeping. This means no screen on, no apps running, and even turning WiFi off! How does it use that much battery when it's not doing anything? Now, I'm not entirely sure what kernel I'm running. The first time I installed The Base 0.7.3 I used sk8's kernel. After getting poor battery life, I reflashed 0.7 and 0.7.3, this time choosing the freegee kernel. I'm not actually sure if the kernel changed though.
Anyway, I think I'll post again tomorrow with some screenshots from Better Battery Stats+ and CPU Spy.
I'm wondering if this recent botched update had the battery fixes we need. Hopefully they'll re-release it soon.

Edit: you've installed the fast dormancy toggle, right? As for the yellow screen, I've seen it once in my two months with the phone, just rebooted and carried on. Forgot what they said it was...but it is here in this forum somewhere.

Yea I've tried fdt but I think it has to be kernel related drain issues

Anyway, I think I'll post again tomorrow with some screenshots from BatteryStats+ and CPU Spy.
I'm wondering if this recent botched update had the battery fixes we need. Hopefully they'll re-release it soon.

When I would get bad drain, which has happened several times, I could narrow it down to a couple things in order to solve the problem.
In my case it would always happen after installing Google+. Uninstall and reboot would usually fix the issue. If I got drain on a fresh install without g+ installed, I found that if I installed the 2.2 kernel separately as a stand alone zip, that would fix it. Don't know why but it may work for you too.
I don't have screen shots, but today I recharged at 38% after 3:10 of phone use and 1:55 screen on time and about 15 hours off charger. That's with Wi-Fi on the whole time and Bluetooth for about 9 hours. I have my work exchange account on active sync with push notifications. Facebook and Twitterer to 4 hour intervals. I'm underclocked to 1350 and using powersave gov with deadline.

Believe you are correct. There were issues on the Samsung Infuse and even the international SGS3 for a while... it was referred to as 'memory leak.' Has been worked out by devs on XDA. You can put memory leak in the XDA search above... it's above my pay grade.
Edit: It's great to see another RD here... hope you will reconsider keeping the phone and stay !!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have Google+ uninstalled, but part of me thinks Google Now may be partially the culprit (although why that would be the case with all radios off, I don't know).
I'll try a fresh install of the 2.2 kernel and see if that helps. Thanks.
I can't speak for anyone else but FDT did wonders for my battery life. I was only able to go about 12 hours prior to disabling FD.

This is good for sure... it's just that compared to other phones, Android OS and Android System should not be that high.

^^^ This is indeed worth considering.... I think the question then becomes why is it consistent among the 3 roms we are using? Maybe when JB source is out and something is built from source all will be good.

I would be less inclined to believe it is a faulty measure if we had a different ROM not built off stock (AOKP/CM10) that could produce different values. However, I seriously doubt anything built into either of the two custom ROM's is geared toward normalizing that reading. That's why they are both the same as the stock AndroidOS percentages. Jivy is probably right that it's a kernel issue. With the size battery we have, imagine the potential if it is a true reading (androidOS out-of-control) and we can get it under control down the road. We're talking double the current best battery life you've ever had on this phone at the very least.

Get BetterBatteryStats, select Since unplugged and Alarms to see what is waking the device (making it not go into a deep sleep). eBay was a big culprit for me.
The wakelock that keeps the phone awake during background data transfer (screen off) lasts 6 seconds (I am guessing it does it in multiples of 6s) regardless of how long the sync takes. Everytime email, facebook, gmail, drive, picasa, twitter, g+, google maps, ebay, calendar, contacts.. whatever wakes the phone to check something, it will be a minimum of 6 seconds.. This adds up over the course of the day and it is counted in the Android OS. Shut down syncs you don't absolutely want/need and this number will go down. All phones with the Snapdragon S4 Pro has it, especially the Nexus4. It seems they've done some kernel work to fix/reduce it but I havent really looked into it since I don't have that phone. I've seen complaints in the Droid DNA forum as well.

This. EBay for me too. BetterBatteryStats is your friend.
Anyone else experiencing scrolling lag or delay. Clearing cache and wiping dalvik fixes it but the issue returns after about two days.
