Hi guys,
I'm not able to install some AOSP apps in a stock HTC Sensation RUU. I've cooked it in a ROM, but beyond that, changed nothing; just so I could flash it via CWM and not loose CWM Recovery.
But the app doesn't install. I've tried everything:
Installing it normally - application not installed
Installing it via Root Explorer in /system/app - app does not install, even when I reboot. I have set the correct permissions
Flashing it together in the ROM, both in /data/app and /system/app - does not install.
The only thing I haven't tried is flashing it after flashing the stock ROM in CWM. I'm going to try that now.
So, people, any solutions? Installing the app works fine in Android Revolution HD, so it must be a file in that ROM that is affecting this. Installing other AOSP apps (such as Browser or Calculator) in the stock ROM works fine.
RUU info:
ROM name: 1.35.401.1
Android OS: 2.3.3

The app in question is the contacts app.
Thanks,

Hello everyone,
I've installed latest nigthly builds of CM10.1 and a few questions remain ...
I've seen that only the owner has root access but in SuperUser there is an option to "activate root" for all users but it doesn't work. Not ready yet ? Or CM's problem ?
After an installation of an app it doesn't appear in the drawer till I reboot. Known Issue ?
When using the keyboard in some applications every time a use the SPACE button the keyboard close it self. I've installed Go Keyboard and no problem there. Known issue ?
Thanks for your answers
Root works for secondary users for me. Here are the things I did.
1- Opened SU
2- Went into preferences
3- Selected Multi-user mode under Security
4- Selected User controlled radio button
5- Logged out from the Owner login and logged in as a secondary user
6- Tried out root (from terminal emulator as well as with an app like Titanium backup that needs root permissions)
And it works!!
I may be missing something so here a few more details:
- I am on cm-10.1-20130105-NIGHTLY-p4.zip
- Using Wingray gapps suggested in the OP of the CM 10.1 nightlies thread
Hope this helps.
I'm on the latest build but it's not working ....
EDIT : Working now after an uninstalling and reinstalling of SU
And google + is now working but facebook not yet ....
I went to ower user, the SuperSU is disappeared, so I install it and enable multiuser option, then go to 2nd user, install SuperSU too, and successfully
But when I restore app + data from owner to 2nd user by Titanium Backup, there're some conflicts..
How to add user apps (non system apps, apps which we install from google play) in a rom?
I placed the apks in /data/apps and changed a few lines in updater-script. But failing everytime. Rom boots up but user apps dont show up
I know anyone reading this will find this question weird but its not normally Trebuchet is the stock launcher but not in Carbon rom.
Phone : GT-19300
ROM : Carbon Nightly for GT-I9300 Android KitKat 4.4.2
Hi All,
Carbon ROM for GT-I9300 comes with "Launcher3" as there default launcher, it seems like a modified version of CM11
Trebuchet Launcher. It seems to be buggy in the rom and i just wanted to replace that with stock CM11 Launcher so tried a few things.
Trick 1
Set the default launcher as Apex after installing it.
I used Titanium Backup to do a backup of default "Launcher3" and then Uninstalled it.
Rebooted the system and then Carbon rom some how restored the Launcher3 back automatically.
Trick 2
Set the default launcher as Apex after installing it.
I used Titanium Backup to do a backup of default "Launcher3" and then set it as user app.
Rebooted the system and then Carbon rom some how restored the Launcher3 back as system app. :silly:
I mean why cant i simply get rid of the buggy Launcher3.
I have the CM11 Trebuchet Launcher as a flashable zip but flashing it conflicts with Launcher3 and that's why need to get rif of Launcher3 completely.
My last resort seems to be some how modify the rom zip and replace the Launcher3 and put CM11 Trebuchet in its place.
Is this even possible is the query here

Titanium seems to have issues uninstalling system apps unless you update your Superuser app to SuperSU from the Play Store and update the binary and reboot. Other options include using a root uninstaller app or, I think there might be a system app remover option in the Carbon Fiber settings, though I have not played with Carbon in awhile, so not 100% on that.
Thanks for you reply will check and revert.

No problem. If you want to know how to do it before you install the rom, then you just need to grab 7zip for the PC, and use it to open the rom zip as an archive then browse to /system/app and delete the Launcher3.apk and copy Trebuchet in. Important to open as archive and not to unzip and re-zip or you will have to re-sign it as just unzipping breaks the rom's signature and it will fail installation in recovery with an aborted message.
How can I check if the zip remains or is signed?
I hope this is not a dumb question.

Just open as archive and don't unzip it and you'll be fine. You'll know if it doesn't work if it fails to install. lol
I have an application (required for work) which will not run on any rooted ROM. In order to remove bloatware (on ICS) I rooted the ROM, deleted bloatware and then unrooted
Im now looking at installing Kit-Kat. However, there are no original ROMs of Kit-Kat for ST15i (unlike ICS). The application not only checks for SU, BUsy box etc but also checks to see if the system is using a non original ROM
Is there anyway of changing signature of the ROM so that it is not detected as an AOSP version? I will also need to completely unroot the ROM for the application to work
P.S. I have already tried Rootcloak plus etc - no good. The ROM MUST be unrooted for the application to work. The app checks for following
SU, Superuser, AOSP ROM, Busybox and various other binaries associated with rooted roms, build.prop
there is xposed module to "hide" root for apps
