Internal2extmemory swap script Mod all metro LG - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Ok so this is a very screwed up issue with metro and even tmobile
L9 and f3 /f6 phones.
They're dubbed the No Download phones.due to a lack of internal...system storage space.1.27gb to be exact out the box.
Making downloading Impossible .
I figured the minds here are smarter than the minds on android forums.
So my question is in regard to the internal2ext mem swap script that someone there has come up with, Many say it works with actual images showing there internal mem linked to there ext mem card size.
I wouldn't own the f3 if I could afford better.
I tried this mod moving the .Txt file to system/Etc/init.d
then setting permissions and then script manager to enable su and boot.
This mod is supposed to link ext sd card to system memory.
I did this with my brand new metro LG f3 and after reboot nothing happened.
I tried the link2sd app and it hard bricked my new f3 not sure if it was meant for f6 only.
Thank God metro returned it. I Said it just went dead,
I know it did cause after boot it was black screen and qhbusb error on pc.That's the key sign of a bricked phone.
Has any got either 2 methods to work for metro and tmobiles L9 f3 phones.

[ROM][ICS] [UNOFFICIAL] Root-ready Huawei MediaPad/SpringBoard ICS International

All credits goes to zombolo and Xanderful
I'm posting this thread to make it easy to find the ROM for newbees...
Please read ALL Informations carefully, before using this rom !
Disclaimer - This procedure is given here in a "as-is" format. I have personally verified it and have it running, but, the ultimate responsibility of performing this lies on you. I will not be responsible for dead / bricked devices or any such similar unfortunate situations.
Download the ROM from the link.
Extract the DLOAD folder from the zip.
Copy the DLOAD folder to the root of your Micro SD card. You can use a card reader or copy using the mediapad itself using MTP over USB cable.
Power OFF the mediapad.
Insert the Micro SD card to the mediapad and Power ON.
ROM Upgrade will start automatically. Follow the onscreen directions. Remove the MicroSD when instructed.
The device will reboot automatically. Meanwhile delete the DLOAD folder in the MicroSD.
Once fully booted copy sanixupdate folder from the downloaded ZIP to root of the INTERNAL STORAGE using the USB cable.
Power OFF and Reboot.
Now you have a ROOTED mediapad with ICS
NOTE
By using this ROM you voide the warranty... But you can very easily go back to STOCK rom before claiming for warranty.
You loose 4G if you are using a T-mobile Springboard
Remember to delete the DLOAD folder from SD card after it is removed from the device as instructed on the device screen. Keeping the DLOAD folder on SD makes it re-flash everytime you POWER ON with the SD inserted.
DOWNLOAD
Root-ready international version: http://depositfiles.com/files/9f8mfimjz
For step 5 don't you have to boot to recovery, not just power on? Power + Left Volume. Took me many tries to do it right, was very annoying.
Reserved
You dont have to boot in to recovery... If you have the unlmt.cfg file in your DLOAD folder, just POWER ON is enough to upgrade automatically.
On the otherhand if you remove the unlmt.cfg file in your DLOAD folder, you dont have to delete the DLOAD folder on step 7.

Odd. I didn't remove it but still had to specifically boot it to recovery. Was a pain and it boot regularly to the stock ROM several times.
So, who's been brave enough to try it? My mediapad is 24hrs old and I don't fancy my chances lol!
Can you still call and text with the ROM, and has anyone got any screenshots or benchmarks to show?
Cheers.

I upgraded following these instructions and had no problems. It seems to me that you can talk and text but I can't test it as I just have a data plan for this device.
For T-Mobile, how does this lose "4G?" Does that mean we're stick with 3G or Edge data speed? Does it revert to using 1900Mhz for 3G like AT&T uses?

For T-Mobile, it means we are stuck with maximum of 3G speeds. I'm messing with the build.prop and a few other things right now to see if that could be what the issue is. Really, it's not a detriment one way or the other.
Any of the devs noticed how messy the build.prop and just disorganized in general the system seems to be?

Works much much better than stock HC thats for sure. With the exception of the lack of 4g (which i honestly barely notice) and some oddities with touchscreen sensitivity its been perfect.

I agree about the touch screen it is somewhat troublesome. I question whether we have really lost 4G or just the ability to have that icon on the screen. I'm seeing the same speeds now that I was seeing prior to the upgrade.
Took the plunge - lovely ROM, really nice work. If I want to flash back to stock I thought the download from Huawei's site would work fine, however, even after following the instructions, it doesnt seem to boot and do the update, it just boots like normal - am I missing something?
Updated: I managed te restore by using a combination of buttons whilst rebooting. Not sure which ones did out tho
I have got problem at step number 8: Once fully booted copy sanixupdate folder from the downloaded ZIP to root of the INTERNAL STORAGE using the USB cable.
I cant write to internal storage, because i dont have permission.

I'm always on 2G after flashing this ICS rom.
Even when I choose and connect to 3G network, it still shows 'G' and not 'H'.
Its a nice and fast rom, really like it, but using 2G to surf the net is a pain in the 'S'.
Anyone can help?

I am not seeing this problem at all. I have the same data speeds after flashing this ROM as I did when I was running stock HC. The only thing different is that I no longer have an icon that says 4G but that is purely cosmetic.

[Q] Fix for KitKat to write external SD card?

Is there a fix for writing the external SD card for the One Max, similar to what has been done for the rooted Samsung Note 3?
I have had enough of not being able to root and run a custom recovery without tripping Samsung's stupid Knox counter. Before I come back to the HTC fold, I want to be sure I will be able to access my external card with KitKat on this phone. Can anyone confirm and share a link?
The solution was posted on the forums here and there and no one bothered to post for this
Quick Google gave me the answer, however i was able to use Root Explorer / ES file manager with root and it was able to do copy files to anywhere in the SD card.

☆☆☆I have tested and can confirm following these directions to the letter on a rooted device, does solve the problem on the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 - SM-P900. I'm now able to write & save to my Sandisk 64gb HS SD card without any problems at all!☆☆☆
Instructions are below in red text. You must be rooted & follow them exactly!
1. Using a root-enabled file manager, navigate to /system/etc/permissions
2. Edit platform.xml and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add an additional group definition for this permission...
4. Save the changes to the file.
5. Restart.

Hello All,
Since kitkat 4.4.2 was released on the Galaxy Note 3, many users were unable to write files to the External SD Card. Below is a simple fix for rooted users on the Galaxy Note 3 N9005 ( International Snapdragon Variant).
**Please be advised that I have only tested this on my personal N9005. However, you are free to test it on your own devices at your own risk!! **
1. Using a root-enabled file manager, navigate to /system/etc/permissions
2. Edit platform.xml and find the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission.
3. Add an additional group definition for this permission...<group gid="media_rw" />
4. Save the changes to the file.
5. Restart.
Attached is a copy of my platform.xml.

Thanks for the info Pradeep. It does make sense that it would be the same fix for the same OS. Any other gotchas I should be aware of? It looks like I can lock/unlock, root/unroot, etc. and still return to bone stock if/when I want to, correct?
I have pretty much convinced myself to dump my Sprint Note 3 for the HTC One Max to get away from Samsung and get this tri-band phone to take advantage of Spark that is supposedly active in my area.

Thanks mate! remember reading the article sometime before
but guess what, i was able to copy files using root explorer using root permissions ofcourse! so i really wonder if that even matters for us rooted users.
I am not sure about ES file manager and other file managers, but root explorer did it for me without any change to the stock rom.

I think the true fix is the above which won't require root perms for an app to be able to write to an external SD without (knowing to) prompt for SU.
Root ALWAYS trumps user/service/system accounts... it's the apps that won't know to use root though...
and sadly... i'm still waiting for kitkat.... might have two M8s coming home tonight for the ladies in the house which will only make me crazier...lol

hello,
i have spoken with htc support ... They told me really you can´t make anything on your sd card ... With 3 part software like es file explorer.... I can´t believe it that they don´t know about it before the update to 4.4 .... But i think if htc would make as a manufacturer a file browser .... We could edit things on sd card .... (they told me ... If more than 100 users write such demand to htc support they software engineers will work on it)
but from google it is a thing ... That me makes angry .... Now is a phone with a sd card garbage ... Ok ... Root ... But after that you loose warranty on the motherboard.....
Build in batery, build in memory .... In two years, what will be next ? Buy a high end phone for 3 months and after that exchange ? Because everything is just a demo or a crap of china for 1 time use?
Quality of these days goes down like the human world it is just a mirror, everything what i have bayed in last 2 - 3 years had to be repaired in warranty. (solution .... Back to the woods and run just with a stick this is the new century ... Century of top **** quality?)

Root LG Optimus Fuel LGL34C

If anyone has picked up the new LG Optimus Fuel #LGL34C , & doesn't know, it CAN be rooted. I picked up one at Wal Mart last week for $30. I mean, a dual-core Kit Kat 4.4 LG device for $30 - I couldn't pass it up for Dev purposes. Now if I could only unlock the bootloader, lol. It doesn't even boot into Recovery, Bootloader, Download, or Fastboot. I'm sure someone will break it wide open soon.

man lets hope so i was first to get the right mod string for it on towelroot v3 but no luck on bootloader yet im hoping it gets sorted out soon. i did pull the recovery.img directly from the phone and it does have a recovery but it just doesnt work for some reason.
Yes, I've been trying all kinds of methods, but none of them seem to work. Since the phone is so new, there's not much activity surrounding it, but we will see.

Hey I have a rooted LG Optimus Fuel and I think I did something to break the WiFi because it won't turn back on at all.. Plug USB data cable into the Windows PC USB port. You can use the charger cable for this, once you disconnect it from the charger plug (If it is the type that unplugs from the charger plug, otherwise you will need a USB to micro-USB data cable).
.
Plug micro USB cable end into L34C phone (The L34C phone should be turned on and on the main screen).
.
Wait for the "Select USB Connection Method" screen to come up on the L34C phone. Choose "Media Sync (MTP)".
.
-On the Windows PC, start the Windows File Explorer.
-Go to the top of the menu tree in Windows File Explorer and select "My PC" or "This PC"
-On the right window pane, next to the C: drive icon, a phone icon should appear with the name of your phone. Double-Click on it.
-Now you should see two selections for the L34C phone, "internal storage" and "SD card". Double-Click on "SD card".
-If there is an "Android" folder, click on it. Otherwise, create a folder called, "Android" (without the quotes).
-Inside the "Android" folder, create a folder called, "media" (without the quotes).
-Inside the "media" folder, create a folder called, "ringtones" (without the quotes).
-Inside the "ringtones" folder, create a folder called, "audio" (without the quotes).
.
The finished folders should look like this (Uppercase and lowercase letters should also match):
.
/Android/media/ringtones/audio/
.
Add any MP3 ringtone files to the "audio" folder you have created on the SD card.
.
.
When finished, disconnect the data cable from the L34C phone.
.
If you go to your phone ringtones list on the LG phone, your added ringtones should appear at the top of the list under "MY RINGTONES", above the "LG RINGTONES" list.

Root request for Verizon Ellipsis 8 Tablet

Hello XDA, I'm new here and I haven't found any info regarding root on the aforementioned tablet. I know its only been out a short while and isn't anything to shake a stick at, however I believe that the ability to root and install custom ROMs on this device would allow it to run much smoother even with the low grade hardware.
Anyhow if anyone is willing to look into rooting I would be appreciative. I did find something where a fella tried kingoroot, towelroot, and one other method which apparently worked on the ellipsis 7, but had no success. If anyone else is in favor reply and let's get some attention. Thanks XDA.

It's a real shame that no one's done this. There are guys, here, that write whole ROMs for tablets they don't even own and no one's taken a shot at a root. Not being a coder, i can't but there are so many talented guys here i'm just really surprised someone didn't lean over, fart, and put out a root. lol.
Just no real demand for it for these tablets.
Verizon is charging more for these than what you would pay for a MUCH better tablet like a Nexus 7, or Gpad 8.3, etc...
The only people that are "buying" them, are the ones that VZW is giving away for free with you upgrade your phone and add the tablet to your data plan for $10 a month. If not for them giving them away for free, nobody would have one.
I'm stuck with a nexus 8 and require root.
the latest update was forced and now hundreds of my apps will not work due to not being allowed to change sd card files. Root for me is not cool or optional.

Hundreds of apps don't work with the small and incremental update? Like which ones?
For 1, I cannot imagine even having hundreds of apps... But the update was a small one, nothing significant, and I don't see why they would have stopped working?
Disabling writing to the SD is hardly incremental!
can't add new accounts
about half my created files on SD were deleted (save games, notes, configurations)
since existing files on SD cannot be changed, and new SD files cannot be created, the following apps will not function as I need them too, or fail to do anything:
roguelike classics
angband variants
angband
humble bundle app
es file manager
astro file manager
retro arch
and bible
hacker's keyboard
teamviewer for remote
teamviewer quicksupport
android VNC
scummvm
gdosbox
unipatcher
andftp
nesemu
snes9x
gbaemu
androgens
freeciv
That's just a few of the top of my head. Since some of those are emus, each adds hundreds more games and software that will not work (I own over 8000).

What format is your SD card formatted in? Maybe something changed with the update... like the Shield Tablet cannot write to the SD card if it is over 32GB and formatted with exFAT... it needs to be in NTFS for anything higher than 32GB...
Maybe the same case here? Try copying the files to your PC, format the SD card with your PC(and specify NTFS and defaults for everything else), not the tablet because the tablet will format in exFAT even if it is larger than 32GB...
Try that and see if it works.
My Ellipsis 8 is on the latest update, and I can read and write to the SD card just fine... Not sure what the issues are that you are having.
What size SD card do you have?
I have this tab, and rooted. It took me a while to get the right combination though. Go here (it's in Chinese): http://www.kingroot.net and click on the download button with the Android icon to download the kingroot apk. Find a way to install the downloaded apk to your tab. You are rooted. I didn't like the kinguser root manager so I used this Replace_Kingroot_With_SuperSU.zip to change to SuperSU for root managing. The zip is attached. Just unzip, copy the "mrw" folder to your tab and use adb as root (either terminal emulator or adb shell from your computer) to run this command:
sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh

. Ignore the errors that may appear. After a while SuperSU will open and ask you to update binary. Do so and reboot. you are still rooted, but with SuperSU as root manager.
Now if only there were any custom ROMs...

How to get or copy files from an app / my own Android Device?

Just want to start out by saying, I HATE HATE HATE how Android has to keep everything so secretive and hard to access. Android works great, but when you want to do something as simple as grabbing files from an app, everything tries its hardest to stand in your way from root access bs to apps detecting if Magisks non functional anti hide is on the system. Enabling root and using root file access apps are so damn useless and crash all the time. Worst part is, they don't even show the files you are looking for when you find the right directories so wtf, what's even the point. /rant
I have a game/app that stores files on my expanded SD card storage. The files get downloaded *somewhere* and my phone detects the 5 GB of storage its using. How can I find the exact directory my phone is using that calculates the size of the files, and how can I gain access to these files to copy over FTP / USB / ADB etc to my computer.
I've spent so many hours trying to figure this out. Closest I got was making ADB backup pulls for the app but the archive is corrupt / incomplete every time so nothing will extract in full.
My device is a Samsung Note 3 running Android 7.1 Lineage.
Figured I would come here for help since I bet there's some Android developers that know a simple trick or two to just extract some simple unencrypted files. Very very much appreciated for any tips or guidance!
