Looking for an app that will allow me to monitor (spy on in the case of a teenager) the other phones on my account. Nothing major, only requirements are SMS logging/recording as well as location.
I know there are several and wanted to save some time with evals and just use the best one right away.
Please let me know what you recommend and why.
TIA!

Hi there, I have searched, I'm sure the answer must be here, but can't find it.
Am I right in saying that the email (not Gmail) program doesn't download emails to allow you to view them when you might not have a connection to a network?
I can't find the setting for this for the life of me, is this one reason to go for a 3rd party program?
Many thanks...
Screen shot the email you want to view for later?
Not really an answer but an alternative.

Thanks, but the whole problem happens when I'm moving about my work which is a large building, I haven't opened up an email yet and when I go to I happen to be in an area where there's no network (cellular or wifi), so I haven't had the chance to screen shot it first.
Any other ideas? Surely others must have found it maddening too?
Sorry to be a pain, but is everyone else experiencing this? Any workarounds?
Many thanks

Bump!
Whilst I'm at it, is there a way to stop the screen turning off when the phone is plugged in? I'm beginning to think I'm missing some settings somewhere, these are such basic things which I've had on other phones for years........

Not sure if you're correct. I suppose you're referring to the stock email program that comes with the SGS2?. This has been modified slightly by Samsung - but, either that, or the stock android email client both do download a certain amount of your emails from the server - Go into the mail program, clickon the options button, click More...select account Settings, select "Size to retrieve emails", and choose 5 kb as a start. This should cover most txt emails.
Riz
That's the problem-I have no option to change the size downloaded.
Any other UK O2 users out there?
Can any other O2 UK users confirm whether they have this setting option our how they've got around this problem?
Many thanks.
K9 mail allows you to set the download amount.
grrrrr.....can someone please help!!! I have seen multiple posts about this and I cannot believe there is not a long term fix.
Background
I have a GT 10.1 purchased from the USA...wifi only. I currently live in China. I have a Google account setup with a US credit card. I am using a VPN which gives a Utah IP address. I still cannot see most paid apps in Marketplace nor download and install many. I have many friends with iPads that do not have this restriction but I desperately want to stay with Android, but cannot believe Google has made this so frustrating.
Non-solution
Please do not recommend MarketEnabler. This app may work fine for some units if they have a radio but it does not work for wifi only devices.
Solution
I am able to get it to work following these instructions, but I have to do this every time and it is a pain....there has to be some setting or program that will make this easier. Can anyone please help me and the multitude of others that post about this same thing? There has to be some setting in build.prop or something that is controlling this. Thank you in advance.
1) Go into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. Find Market and force stop it then clear cache.
2) Go into Settings>Accounts and sync and remove all of your google accounts. (I have not always had to perform this step but often it is required for some reason. Don't worry they are easy to add back and nothing gets deleted.)
3) Connect to a USA VPN.
4) Add back your main Google account that has an associated US credit card.
5) Open Market place and when you do you will have to agree to the terms and conditions again. Accept this. At this point you should be able to find and download most of those apps that you could not previously.
6) Now you can add back in all of your other Google accounts if you have more.
Please someone help us....there has to be an easier way!
Sorry to bother, but can anyone recommend a better way around this? Thank you.

There are no solution for this. They are too stupid for this, too busy acquiring companies.
You realize that its not that hard to download the said application's apk and installing them directly to the tablet.

Sorry but this is the problem....I know it is easy to sideload an application but the problem is that they cannot even be downloaded from the website. When I go to the Market from a PC it shows my tablet but it is greyed out and I am not able to just download the apk.

Please reread the original post. Market Enabler does not work for Wifi only devices it only works for units with a radio.

If you have a SIM card from another country (your home country maybe?) , switch that into your SIM slot after removing you China Mobile/China Unicom SIM. Then you install the app with the foreign country SIM and once done, put in your China SIM once again
Source: I regularly do this to my HTC Desire and wife's Galaxy S2 and we live in China.
However, if you do not have SIM from another country, you're SOL. If you find out another way to do this, please let me know as well with the Note 10.1
Hi, as one of my friends phone was about to get stolen when we were out in town a few days ago, I wanted some tracking and anti-theft software on my GS2. I found out how the pre-installed software from Samsung works (go to http://www.samsungdive.com/DiveMain.do and register your phone, and then enable tracking under the phone's security settings). But it is a very poor anti-theft solution if you ask me, even thou it works just as well as any solution on the market. First of all, if GPS is disabled and you try to track your phone using the Samsung website, it will ask you "do you want to enable GPS?"..that's just plain stupid and I don't see why it can't force it to start. Second of all, if my phone got stolen I would expect it to get reset to factory settings at some point. In order to avoid this, the phone should ask for the same pincode it ask for when you enable/disable tracking. That way it should always be possible to find the phone if it ever got stolen. I figured it was a simple yet good idea and wanted to feature request it for Android, but I couldn't find any information on where you can do so. Do any of you guys know? Or do any of you developers talk to the Android developers or do they roam in a certain part of the XDA forum?

Please try to contact Samsung/Google via the official contact/support email addresses first.
As they are using help desk systems, each email to those addresses become documented as a request or ticket and will be worked through in some way.
Every other contact (via personal network or a free/internet forum) is "in-official" and could lead into a loss of your input.
Good luck !

It doesn't on my phone. It remotely turns on GPS automatically with no prompt on the phone.
I'm currently using the latest MiniCM7 on my X10 mini.
The one app I'm really missing is the official Natwest App. It doesn't appear in the market on my phone and if I look it up on the android market on my computer then I am told it is incompatible. I'm just curious as to whether people on other ROMS are able to download it? Maybe I could modify something to make it compatible.
Apparently a lot of people have had similar problems, trying to run a UK banking app on anything other than a stock ROM.
I had a quick Google hunt about this and quite a few people suggest using the app, Bank Control, which apparently works with Natwest as well as some other banks. Some have talked about editing the phone's build.prop as well.
Not much help, I know, but hopefully this may be useful to you.
I've been reluctant to try Bank Control as its not officially supported by Natwest. I've finally given it a go and now can't register with it for some reason.
I'm interested in modifying the build.prop. People seem to have had success on other phones by editing the ro.build.fingerprint. Could somebody post that line from a stock X10 mini so I could give it a go? Or could I use the ro.build.fingerprint from a different phone without it affecting anything?
Well, I could..but it might be easier if I just gave you the whole thing and you can pick the bits you need..
I've had to zip it because .prop files can't be attached here.
Worked like an absolute charm, thanks a lot!
In case anyone searches for this I changed the ro.build.fingerprint line to
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=SEMC/U20i_1238-7173/U20i/delta:2.1-update1/2.1.1.A.0.6/-X_d:user/release-keys
Didn't have to change anything else.
No problem, I'm glad it worked out.
Just going through all the pre-installed apps and diabling those that are bloat and I see AAT listed with ALOT of things it controls wtf is it?

Thanks, I've been meaning to ask this, I saw it and a quick Google came up without any useful results.
I would be interested in knowing.
Can't find any reliable info on what it is/does, but I did come across a post on a different forum with some guys who seemed fairly knowledgeable... they were seeking to remove as much bloatware as possible from a previous LG phone... it wasn't an ancient phone though, fairly recent. Anyway, they were able to disable that program without any ill effects...
As for whether it can be disabled on our phone without causing issues, and whether one could go a step further and just delete it... I think the quickest way would be for somebody to give it a try.
Maybe someone who has additional knowledge of LG/AT&T apks would know specifically what this AAT is for.
Found it.
