I really don't know how to explain what I want, perhaps because its my first post.
After using xflare based on 4.2.2 although I was not fully satisfied by it but really enjoyed its easy connectivity features with my tv, now am on sld rom but wanted those features desperately as no other application(among 10 different ones that I tried) comes even close to Sony's default(throw service, which was available in settings) It somehow integrated media server, smart connect and the default video and music players. Smart connect is good and I have downloaded it but it is only showing option for Bluetooth connectivity. Can anyone please tell me how can I get back the great sharing over WiFi experience again.
Have a116, moto xoom and a Panasonic ut50.
Thanx in advance
P.s: if suggesting any other 3rd party apps be sure they are really tested, preferably by yourself or any other reputed member.

I love the MIUI but I have been skeptical about trying it because I'm too attached to Samsung's specially designed apps such as the Allshare (DLNA), Email (split view), Samsung keyboard, Memo, Kies Air, photo editor and Video Maker and Voice Talk (home button double click).
From what I read, these are built on a different framework than the MIUI (CM7) which will not work. Very sad face.
So the real question is, is there a way to port any of the mentioned apps over to MIUI?
A alternative for Allshare that I would recommend is Skifta. I even use it on my phone which is a stock based rom since it is better in the area of the phone as the player since Allshare is hard coded to use the stock video player and will not let you select a different installed player which means lower format support and you can't stream mkv's to the phone from a server even though the phone could play the same file if it is on the sdcard.
For phone to other device it has the same capabilities.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Thanks shadowofdarkness, unfortunately it doesn't seem to work properly. When I click on Music it just sits there for a while, and non of the movies play. I'm thinking maybe I need another player?
I noticed it's beta, so it might be in the process of being fixed.

What is your setup, is the phone the server or player? On my phone I prefer MX video player in SW mode for best compatibility.
I have the following devices and have not had any real problems
Phone server/client
XBMC server/client
MythTV server only
The clients especially TVs can have low format support since a lot of manufacturers only put in the most heavily used formats and can even have problems with variations of certain codec profiles.
All my media is stored on a windows 7 pc that has media stream server enabled. So whatever I have in My Music, My Video and My Pictures is easily viewed in Allstream. Skifta looks great btw, just hope they fix the issues soon.

Id say that if you like those special services that samsung provides don't install MIUI. Currently it is on v4 for the GS3, nevertheless the beta is on its way and is being tested as we speak. The GUI is really nice, but you DO loose some special services.

o,thanks! your answer also helped me to solve this big problem, especailly when i just trying the MIUI V5 in my galaxy S3
Ok I have a spare S3 which i'm not going to use, so i plan to plug it to a TV via HDMI and use it as a multimedia center.
So from what i can see I need 2 things.
1. good app to wirelessly sync files between PC, Tablet, Smartphone and the S3 (option to stream media from the PC would be great as well)
2. A program to remote control the S3 from my other android smartphone
any other advise for the setup is welcome
no suggestions whatsoever? :>
Final attempt to get some advises
i don#t know of any app that is able to handle both, but as a start you might look at xbmc, wich actually is a media center, also avaliable for android.
i'd give you links to sites where you can download it (it's still in beta), but i have not enough posts to do so. you should google XBMC android chip.de
or
xbmc android androidpit
or somtething like this.
I have a US SGS3, not-rooted - AT&T released an OS update yesterday, and now MirrorLink / DriveLink is functional.
Using the Sony XAV-601BT, firmware updated from UK Sony website, Samsung Drivelink APK installed via USB, from the other MirrorLink thread.
When I plug the unit into USB before I would get a message "USB device not recognized", and would then stream Pandora via Bluetooth. Now it auto-launches DriveLink, Navi works, phone works, music works, but only supports Mp3, etc. files at the moment.
Frankly, I was hoping for more app support (eg ability to launch Pandora, Waze, etc.) - right now it only works with built in Google Maps Navi, Phone book, and local files for Music. Something which is annoying, is that I cannot use Bluetooth audio streaming for Pandora at the same time as DriveLink, so the solution is imperfect - I can now use DriveLink navigation, but not Pandora, Or I can exit fully out of drivelink, and listen to Pandora; music or nav, not both - so while it now launches and works, I still cannot use it regularly.
As a bit of an aside, when I first bought my SGS3 I installed an AppRadio2, which was horrible and got exchanged for the XAV-601BT. Now, however, within the last week, there's been progress on fully unlocking control of android using the AppRadio2:
Youtube link "PFiAWrItAdE" (can't post URL)
Seems like the ultimate solution, away from the nanny limitations of DriveLink, although one would imagine, since these limitations are with Samsung's software, a 3rd party app could provide a similar experience with the MirrorLink standard. So perhaps be patient for 6 months, or switch back to AppRadio2, and hope the laggy connection issues have been fixed.
scorp, welcome to XDA!
Many of us feel the same about Samsungs app - pretty poor effort so far Please check out the last few pages of this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837847&page=15 (from about page 12 onwards)
A growing number of members here are trying to build a donation 'bounty' in the hope that we can get a developer interested in playing with the Samsung Mirrorlink app and removing the current restrictions to allow full mirroring of the whole phone (meaning all apps on the headunit).
The more support we get the more chance of making this a reality, if you'd be willing to donate something to see this happen please make a post in that thread (also stating your phone model and ROM/firmware) and I'll add you to the list.
Thanks,
Olywa
If any members have any interest at all in mirrolink/drivelink (mirroring phone display and control on supported car headunits) please do take a look at the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1837847&page=15
Hi Guys, first of all sorry if this is in the wrong forum.. Mods please don't hesitate to move it.
I have a project for anyone who is up to the challenge.
I have an Android headunit which currently is running Android 2.3 and hardware wise it is not the best.
Here is a link to the actual where you can find hardware information headunit http://www.aliexpress.com/item/7-Pu...-Nissan-teana-2012-wifi-3G-DVD/975120044.html
I have the current 2.3 rom for my headunit but I have no idea how to port another rom to it.
Things to be done>
Android 5.0 as light as possible
Digital Car as the default and only launcher http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/digital-car-android-tablet-t2834750
I don't want all the Google goodies to work. Just maps, play store, which of course requires Google services.
I want the current functionalities of device to work the same.
Bluetooth calling
Wifi dongle support
From my understanding it would be best to port a rom from a tablet.
I also understand that this is not easy since the hardware is not the best out there but I wanted to just give it a try.
Will appreciate if anyone can take the task.
I am a Radio Jockey. My work is kind of reporter for Tv n Radio in India.
Sometimes I ll record some Voice bytes on my phone & i need to send them to the TV/radio station.
Generally i ll whatsApp or Email them.
But sometimes i am in remote locations where i cant have 3g/2g/data & where I can only receive calls.
In such a situation, when someone from the station calls me, i should be able to play the audio to them.
But I found this is impossible with my Android Phone. Nor any Android phone for that matter. I tried many, but for me, all the phones that have Android OS are useless. What should i do with 3ghz or 3gb ram or lollipops or thousands of apps which don't serve my basic need ,when my old Nokia N8 could easily do this task.
Shame on Android, which is hailed as the most popular n advanced OS for phones... not to have such basic functionalities that an Extinct Os like Symbian could do.
After all the research .. i came to u guys..There are senior developers here who are doing wonders..with custom Roms, kernels n frameworks.. My Direct question to you guys is
What changes do I need to Make to the framework or kernel to "play audio to the caller" ?
or Are there any readily available modified frameworks/kernels (like Faux, etc) which serve my purpose?
Thank u
