Hi Guys,
I am using Galaxy Ace GT-S5830i & is rooted. I had 4GB memory card & had only 2 partitions FAT32(3.25 GB) & Linux ext3 (500MB) & was working well. All my apps were residing in this (ext3) partition /data/sdext2.
Yesterday I took backup of SDCard (through Win 8 PC) and used MiniTool Partiton wizard to create a Linux swap. Here is how I did,
1. I deleted FAT32 partiton only.
2. Recreated it to 3GB
3.Created a 256MB Linux Swap partition.
4.Already existing partition ext3 was not touched.
After inserting the SD card I couldn't mount the Linux partition ext3 (/data/sdext2) using link2sd app. I searched through xda forums & did some troubleshooting using adb shell by using mount command (being in su). But its not working out.
Please help me in recovering my ext3 [artition as I have all my apps residing over there. Also I had replaced the backup taken from SDCard before yesterday's partiton.
Pleeease help me in recovering the partition /data/sdext2.
Thanks a lot,
Rajeev

Hi I'm using ClockMod v4.0.9 and can't find the place to format the SD to ext2 or ext3
anyone does this before.
Can you please share the steps and tools ?
Thanks
Use minitool on pc, more easy. Too troublesome to do it via cwm.

Yes, google minitool partition wizard or gparted. Delete your sd card partitions and create a fat/fat32 partition first, then a smaller portion as ext2 or ext3. Both partitions must be primary.
I had originally created a sd-ext partition of ~600 MB using MiniTool on Windows 7. However, recently I observed that the 2nd partition is not being shown at all, by MiniTool, Windows 7 Disk Mgmt or GParted.
Using the recovery I was able to partition the sdcard and bring the sd-ext partition size down to 128MB, but I am still unable to completely delete it.
The built in SDCard erase option too is formatting only the FAT32 partition. Is there any command line I can use within android itself to completely delete the sd-ext partition?
Resolved: Miraculously, Windows finally detected my card as being unformatted and a quick format got the job done.
Hey guys I'm facing a problem. Today I decided to expand my EXT3 partition and after some nandroid backups and tries I succeded and finally have all previous programs working and a bigger EXT3 partition. But A2SDGUI still says the size of the partition is 206mb and I extended the partition to 610mb. Using SD Maid I could see all the info about storage and I have the following:
Android OS - 147/206mb (exactly the same as the EXT3 partition that A2SDGUI shows)
Internal data - 99.15/178mb
Sdcard - 627/1.23gb
App2SD - 268/610mb
I can confirm that the SD Card only has 2 partitions and I don't know why A2SDgui shows information about Android OS partition...I don't know if it's installing things there..I would transfer the apps back to internal memory and then sd card but I'll ran out of space and then I'll have to restore the whole system again probably...Oh and I have already unistalled and reinstalled A2SDGUI...
Help?
ok my sdcard is not seen on my device what made it unseenable is that i wanted to use ext3 so i deleted all partrion, wiped sdcard, made 3gb fat32,300 mb swap and 300 MB ext3 now my sdcard cannot be seen i went into mount in cwm and used mount on all options but still not on phone seen and root explorer says its not mounted i can see all my data on sd card on my pc using card reader and i use my fat32 partition primary and other 2 partitions logical please help me asap and thanks in advance
ALL partition should be PRIMARY - not LOGICAL.
Backup your data and format it in, then create those partitions in MiniTool Partition Wizard
- FAT32 (primary)
- EXT3 (primary)
- LINUX SWAP (primary)
but must warn you -> there is possibility that you will have troubles with automounting EXT3 or SWAP...
