Hello,
Need to get me head around this.
Both phones LG G2 with stock (not rooted).
Phone A - broken Screen IMEI 1
Phone B - working - IMEI 2
I want to get
Phone A - Broken Screen - IMEI 2
Phone B - working - IMEI 1
Broken screen works just touch playing up.
I'm a Newbie needing pointing in the right direction.
Questions? Advise.

Best thing is swapping the screens
True.... But my ability mess with hardware is nowhere near as good as my ability to mess with software.. My guess would be I would end up damaging both phone
SMLP - What ever you want it to mean.
Why are you trying to switch the IMEIs?

I don't get it either back your stuff up from old phone restore it to new one, done.
this topic is not allowed, this post has been reported.
Broken work phone swap to working personal phone in a nutshell.
Only issue is a turns out it illegal so it's a no go

I have found a link to the actual law in the us regarding this however as a N00b I'm unable to post the time at this time. I will post once able.

Good day!
Situation: have a broken (beyond repair) droid 2 global that was unlocked with a code and a new droid 2 global, that has been lying in my wardrobe for already 1 year because I am outside US and do not have Verizon contract to give them a call for the code.
Tried purchasing codes (don't work), tried looking up friends on the web with Verizon account (nobody agrees to help, which is actually stupid as I will never come to US to make some fraud against helper..) - not luck..
And recently came up with a interesting idea - what if I take out the gsm-module from a broken droid and put it into the locked one?.. Anybody has knowledge where Motorola imprints the IMEI - to the module or to the mainboard?..
Could be an option to swap imei's in the module but assume Motorola's are not as easy as HTC's to crack..
Please don't tell me about some legal consequences, I am not in US to be afraid of some big brother following me. I need to know an answer if it is technically possible.
Thanks in advance for ideas and help!
Michael
Changing the IMEI is illegal in most countries, you know? (in any circumstance)

I know that you most likely read about it on the web.. I am not discussing that, I prefer to have my judgement based on reality.
Could you comment on the point raised in the question? If not - thanks for letting me know and stopping by

Did you succeed to change the IMEI? I have a similar situation too.
Thanks!
Hi there peeps, before you say it ive exhausted the search button (so no wise guys)
I have 3 SGS2's I9100,
1. Has no service (from ebay somebody didnt pay the bill)
2. Has a busted screen (again from ebay)thought you could just replace the top screen ! Doh!
3. Has no wifi or bluetooth (been told it needs a new mobo)
i want 2 working phones from the 3 i have.
My question is can i transfer the efs/imei from No3 to the mobo of No1 and the mobo from No2 to No3.I can do the physical from 2 to 3.I am just not certain about 3 to 1.
If you can, how can it be done, what would i need to do it myself?
Thanks in advance
No, you can't transfer an IMEI from one device to another. Illegal in every jurisdiction in the world that follows the rule of law.

So lets say i had a new mobo, and i wanted to transfer my old efs/imei on it then would that be illegal?Just like they do in the shop when you pay for a new mobo.
So because i have and old mobo, then thats a grey area, and your instantly bannished to the depths of hell for even thinking it or asking it.The point of the question was to see if its possible. Not to be quoted the letter of the law,as if i didnt or wouldnt know it.
But thanks for stating the obvious
That's not transferring the IMEI, that's transferring your existing phone number (or putting an existing SIM card in) to a new phone. The IMEI is a unique identifier that every mobile device has, it's attached to that particular piece of hardware.
I didn't state the obvious, if it were that obvious you wouldn't have made this thread, would you ?

The obvious to me is about the legal stuff and jurisdiction etc ,i'm not asking about anything being legal, neither did i mention anything about a sim card or a phone number.
I know what an IMEI is too.(International Mobile Equipment Identity)
I did ask if i had used mobo can i transfer from another mobo the imei,I assumed it to be a no.So then i asked if i had a new mobo how would the imei from lets say a damaged mobo be transfered to a new mobo.
I didn't come on here to get trolled or preached some laws,if you cant answer what i asked, then whats the point in you replying to something you clearly don't have the answer to.
I said what I said because one of the rules here is "Don't do anything that could get us (XDA) into trouble".

Ahhh ok fair point understood.
But if i had posted that i had a new mobo and i wanted to transfer the old efs /imei data etc ,then this would have been treated or looked upon a different way?
Because then i would be asking something that is legal, and infact is done everyday in repair shops around the world.

Ive a bird Chinese phone. It had two legal EMEI numbers, which worked as I made a call.
The problems started because the menus were in Chinese. Holding my note next to it I figured where the factory reset line was. Pressed it and all seemed well,in English,BUT it wiped the numbers.
The phone only has 4gig of ROM and it seems
This was for the system and apps. Why the bit where the imei was spotted was not protected I don't know. I've tried the codes Zopo phones use to put them back but no luck. The maker offered Chinese software!
The numbers are printed in the normal place - the is nothing illegal about this. Can anyone help? Id happily give photographic proof the numbers belong to the set.
Thanks.....:banghead:

I have a Sprint LG G3 that I am leasing. I want to root it, but I do not know if it will affect me returning it when my lease is up. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks for the help.
EDIT to add more information: Most of the time when I talk to Sprint on the phone, they don't understand what I mean by rooting. Should I just say "Modifying the original software of the phone" or how would you go about it?
Historically, Sprint has been much less concerned about people rooting their phones than other carriers. But there's a thread here in the Sprint subforums that shows you how to revert to a completely stock, unrooted state. I would suggest doing that before returning it, just to be safe.

Did u get rooted and flashed? I saw where u had question about rooting.
Most of your questions are already answered on here. But for any question you have most members are helpful and dont just tell you to post questions somewhere else. These processes with your phone are daunting even for experienced folk. If something goes wrong it can be a $600 penalty. There are many who have helped me most dont even know they helped because they halped someone else who had the same problem i had. Meyerweb is probably who has helped me most throughout the years as i followed him with gs3. When i was looking at lgg3 i asked him about development before i purchased. If you need help post spicific questions about what your doing or trying. I will try to help

One more thing. Dont tell sprint anything about root. There is no need for them to know. The warranty on your phone is now void. Dont mention modifying software or bootloader. I cannot think of a reason of using these terms with any carrier. And return to stock before u turn back in.
If you are leasing your phone i may have a different pov on rooting. My justification to rooting is i bought phone, own phone, will do to phone what i want. Its like buying or leasing a car. If you buy it you can paint it but if you lease it you cant turn it in with a yellow polka dot paint job. With that being said who am i to tell you what t o do.

A friend who has good information explained it to me this way: They try to take a hands-off approach to it, unless one of a couple things happens:
The phone causes the customer to call in for support on the handset itself (i.e. not dropped calls or a cracked screen, but some difficulty in launching/running applications or compatibility)
A phone without a tethering package starts pushing 25gb/month of traffic, *and* the user calls in to complain about throughput. (bonus points if they actually mention that they don't have a tethering package and call for compatibility help on the wifi hotspot features)
Resolving some issue would require sprint to acknowledge that the customer has modified the phone, and implying their approval for that.
The customer states that they are doing something in violation of applicable laws or the service agreement. Please, don't do this. Support calls are recorded and doing anything other than feigning deafness would require the support tech to follow up on the issue raised. That blank stare is an act of courtesy, not ignorance.
My take-away was "root and code all you like, but make sure you know what you're doing and understand that the second you mention 'rooted' to a SPCS employee, you're gonna get a blank stare".

Why is this thread not deleted? It's obvious BS in this community we share information freely, not via PM.
u just need to install flexihub and teamviewer what else information you need?
My apologies to the OP. I was unaware of the details involved to achieve the unlocking of the sim. So here im admitting to my jumping to conclusions and being a asshole. You would think with how long I've been here on XDA that I would know better than to be so judgmental. So I'm sorry to the OP for opening my big mouth. My bad bro.

To perform certain functions (sometimes including SIM unlock), you need a dongle or some other piece of hardware (most of which are expensive). Hence why the OP requires you to install flexihub, which allows your PC to access remote USB ports and, thus, remote USB devices. So, now that we are aware of what is going on here, please check the judgemental attitudes at the door, and if you don't want to participate in this thread, then you are free not to...
The OP is provide a service for free for the benefit of the community. Now, if this was not provided for free, then that would be a different story, and I would have shut the thread down long ago if I had proof of that.

Not in this case, I've confirmed with a sprint tier 3 support technician at a call center here in Portland. It's a white list on the server side. You can use all the hardware you want, do whatever you want to the phone without the sprint server authorizing ICCID unlock it's not happening. Period. So again this is a scam.

Do you have any proof of your allegations? Because I didn't, and I deleted my posts cuz i had no proof that the OP had broken any XDA rules. In addition, until we see a user here on XDA that own's a galaxy s7 (Sprint) that says his process works or it doesn't work, we should continue to keep a neutral opinion and let the OP do his thing.
