My evo downloaded a file named: OTA_JEWEL_CL_JB_45_S_Sprint_WWE_3.17.651.4-3.16.651.3_release_334509ls9tpexkjt349evk.zip as an update
But im thinking to flash this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048229
so, can i make the update and next flash te rom?
if you take the update, you may loose root. if you want the updated firmware, you can flash that in hboot if you are s-off so you don't have to take the update and keep root.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
You most likely won't be able to take the update with a custom recovery installed. It would be better to get S-off if you aren't already, update your firmware and flash whatever ROM you'd like.

Many EVO 3D users S-Off their device but some like me didn't as 4EXT recovery is working nice on S-on users.
BUT
the only problem is newer baseband(radio) 11.77.3504.00P_11.25.3504.06_M is not installing in S-ON devices because it is not signed. So, anybody please help in installing this baseband for S-ON users. by signing it or by any other method.

You either need to get s off, or run an ruu with the latest radio.

i think you might need to relock the bootloader, before the ota.

No it works fine without relocking it. I was s-on as well wih onlocked bootloader. however after the OTA ics i got mine bootloader saying relocked.
I've previously rooted my EVO 4G and just recently, my Transformer TF101.
I'm finally bored enough with my EVO LTE. I booted to the Recovery/info screen and snagged a screenshot (attached).
I'd rather NOT wipe everything off my phone by using HTC's unlock.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
I thought 1.15 was latest.....o.o

1.19 is the latest hboot and as far as I know the only way to root is to unlock hboot. There is a universal root tool but it won't let you flash roms and if I'm not mistaken it still unlocks hboot on newer htc phones
I have the new HBOOT 1.19 and Im unlocked, rooted and have TWRP recovery. Being s-on or s-off isn't a big deal. I could pretty much do what anyone with s-off could do but only thing is I have to approach it differently.

I have hboot 1.19 and my software version is 2.13.651.1 710RD. I'm unlocked, rooted and also have TWRP recovery and am s-on. When I rooted my phone it also gave me SuperSU. I'm super lost now because I can't flash any ROMs to my phone. I've tried the charmeleon ROM and also the tranquility ROM but when TWRP is at the end of the Installing process it says that it failed and that there is no md5 or something like that.
what am I doing wrong?
You have to flash the kernel separately unless you're S-off (or Hboot 1.12, then it doesn't matter).

I believe you have to do it through fastboot. I'm not certain as I'm on Hboot 1.12 and don't have to worry about it. Sorry I'm not of more help

Does anyone know of any kernels that would work for the Evo LTE with what I described up top?
Get the ROM you wanna flash, then pull the boot.IMG out of it's zip , then either fastboot flash that or use flash image GUI to flash while booted, the go to recovery and flash new ROM.
Boot.IMG contains the kernel.

MeanROM and JellyBomb Domination as well as others have kernel installers written into the script for people that are S-ON so no need to flash the kernel separatly. Click the names in my SIG to go to those threads
Also make sure you are using the latest version of twrp 2.3.1.0
So my question is what's the difference between HBoot 1.12, 1.15, and 1.19. I see a bunch of people downgrading to 1.12 from 1.19.
I currently have 1.12 S-On and am looking to change it to S-Off cause it's a lot easier to change ROMs around, I was wondering if I should bother upgrading as well or...?
Thanks!

If you have 1.12 do not update your hboot. You can and should run lazy panda to obtain s-off.

According to their site, Lazy Panda is no longer supported. Now you have to RUU to upgrade your Hboot and use Dirty Racun to gain S-off. With Hboot 1.12 you can flash radio updates through recovery, whereas the newer Hboots you can't, at least without gaining S-off first. Also, with Hboot 1.12 you don't have to flash the kernel separately from the ROM. Those are the main differences as I understand it.

Captain_Throwback usually makes a recovery flashable zip for radios he just got back from vacation so it should be soon
Hi guys - my evo 3d is currently 1.53 hboot and s-on. I tried to downgrade it using the ultimate recovery tool, but when I put the zip on the microsd, the hboot sees it and checks it but then doesn't give me the option to run the upgrade.
My evo 3d is locked as the video states it should be. I thought it might be because I wasn't on the 1.13 RUU, however the RUU linked is for the CDMA sprint evo 3d. Can I still run it? Will my phone still work after?
I'm trying to get to the stage where I can flash the mwakious. I believe I need s-off and so I need to downgrade my hboot. Any help would be appreciated!
Sorry title is meant to say downgrade
To get s-off just follow steps on this page
http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm
Once you get s-off you can downgrade your hboot following this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32032629
And don't run cdma ruu you will brick your phone, if you are on stock rom you're good to go

Are you S-off? If so you can use Viperboy's RUU tool and it will restore your phone back to completely stock condition.

If you're not already S-OFF, feel free to unlock and go through the process of S-OFF because Viper's 3.16 RUU has the ability of rewriting the security flag back to S-ON after reverting to stock.

Also the 3.17 RUU I have doesn't work for some reason. Any help is appreciated I would like to unbrick my phone.
A little more info than the ruu doesn't work would help... What error is it throwing? And what system are you on win7, win8, x86, 64bit, Linux, Mac... Etc
