Hi all! I have a brand new LG Optimus One, but I think it has a problem. When I tap on the screen or write a message and tap on one letter, sometimes the screen respond 2-3 or more taps (want to write "word", but when i pres the "D" it goes "wordddd". Does anyone have the same problem or? Thanks a lot!
P.s. Sorry for my poor english
Same here..
I have the same problem too but i think it happens more often with gingerbread keyboard. The lg keyboard lags little more than default android keyboard. I think I'll stick with swype for now

Can it be something with the stock protection foil?
Or may be i must go to the shop and return it
I removed the foil and still has the issue. I haven't tried other keyboards. Using the default LG Keyboard.

I am with the default keyboard too. Its very annoying, when the vibration is ON and when i just touch a letter...it's vibrating for 2-3 seconds.. Today i will try to go to the mobile shop and i will write after my visiting there.
Same here, I believe this is normal behavior, you have to remember that this phone has an entry level touch screen, so you can't except much from it. There are other problems with the keyboards as well related to touch. For example, in the Gingerbread keyboard you can do proper multi-chorded inputs (aka pressing shift + a character to capitalize the character) because of the touch screen quality. Same for pinch to zoom problems.
Download a touch screen test app to see what's really going on and why some things just don't work the way you expect. If you want better touch screen response you should've bought a more expensive phone. I'm happy with my Optimus One since I knew that this is a budget phone and that you can't have high expectations. That said, and knowing how much I paid for it new and unlocked (180€) I'm quite impressed with it's quality.

I am happy with my phone too! But when other people say, that they have no problems, what must i think about? I am from Bulgaria and here 180$ are not little money
So i went to the market and i played with the sample... It has the same "problem" )) So now I think, that all of this is because of my big fingers and "don't know how to touch" This is my first touchscreen phone and may be this is why i woried about. So thanks all for the answers, now i am a bit more calm! Great wishes for the NEW YEAR to all! Bye!
No problems with original android keyboard same as with SmartKeyboard Pro
Try to change to a different type of keyboard first and change back maybe after about 2-3 mins.
same problem
Hello folks!!
I have the same ptoblem with my touchscreen but only when i plug the usb cable to charge ...any solution?
it happens because of the touch screen lag bug. there is too much cpu usage when the touch screen is tapped.
that is why when you try to type fast using lg or android keyboard you will experience such problems.
this problem is not there with swype since you don't have to tap on the keys to type.
there is a touch screen bug fix and that will solve the problem.
I wish optimus one didn't have so many problems.
I currently have an HTC Desire Z and I really want the Thunderbolt, but all my android phones thus far have had a full slide out keyboard and I'm just not sure if I can do without one. Has anyone else switched from a phone with a keyboard to the Thunderbolt?
What is your experience?
I switched over from the original Droid. The change hasn't been bad at all, with swype or even the stock HTC keyboard, it's about the same. The only thing having to look at your phone to type.
I switched over from the original Droid. But then again I think I used the keyboard on the Droid about twice before realizing the on-screen board was monumentally better and never slid it open again.
I switched over from original Droid, I used to love the physical keyboard. But this screen is so accurate and big I've found the on screen keyboard to be more effecient and even in portrait mode its ridiculously accurate. I never plan on going back to a physical keyboard.

You wont regret
you wont regret the switch extremely accurate.
My last 5 phones had a slide out keyboard, so I was worried about the switch, but it really isn't bad. It takes some getting used to, and I have to look at the phone to type. I also can't type as fast. I think when I type too fast, it tries to change letters I pressed thinking it was a mistake. Other than that, it isn't bad.
I switched from a tp2 and I love it. The landscape keyboard is almost bigger then the tp2's slider!
Own both Samsung Epic 4G with slide out keyboard and HTC Thunderbolt. I needed the slide out keyboard for the rare times that I'm oncall and need to use the phone as a laptop replacement to VPN and RDP otherwise touch is fine for casual use the rest of the time. HTC Thunderbolt's touch is much more precise than the Samsung Epic 4G.
This is my first ever keypadless phone. I've had the Tilt2 on ATT since it came out, and its predecessor, and several other phones, always with physical keyboards.
Now I'm just thinking what an idiot I've been. Swype is simply AMAZING. After just 3 days using swype, I'm already faster typing than I ever was with physical keys on any phone.
Never going to look back, and I doubt you will either.
I came from the original Droid and was worried I would miss the physical keyboard...which I used often. Honestly...I haven't had any issues. Flipping the phone to landscape gives you a nice sized keyboard. Although I don't know if its me or my screen but I seem to have trouble type the letter Y.

I have a friend who moved to the EVO from her blackberry and has been loving the move so far. Plus she's using swype, which I think greatly helps the switch once you get the handle on how to use swype. Figured it was worth mentioning as it's effectively the same size phone/platform.
Yes, there is definitely a learning curve, but I have had mine since thursday and I seem to be getting the hang of a slate. I came from the D2 and had the TP2 before that. The speed of the phone definitely makes up for the lack of HW KB.

QFT. There is no reason to use anything but swype.
Also, I cannot for the life of me use a phone with a keyboard after having a touchscreen only phone. Had a friend get the evo shift and he used the keyboard once, and never touched it again.
Wow, wasn't expecting this much response. But thanks for all the input and it sounds like the opinions are all the same across the board. Probably will be making the switch soon, plus it will be nice to be back on Verizon. Thanks so much.

It doesn't come preinstalled from what I could tell from the in store model I played with. You can always install it yourself. Though apparently some people are having issues w/ spacing from what I read on another thread in this forum, probably worth looking into that to see if there is a fix yet.

you just have to try other keyboard phones in the market, at this time theres only the droid 2 thats comparable to my og droid on verizon. the epic 4g is nice but i cant go to sprint. the phone's screen is so large it makes it easy. the only problem is that with my og droid i could type under the the table no problem if i had to send a message out, but with this i have to look at the screen.
My first smart phone was the samsung sch-i760, loved the hw keyboard, that's why I moved on to the tp2 afterwards. To be honest, the tp2 shows absolutely no wear after using swype. As soon a you get used to swype you'll wonder how you ever got along without it.
Bummer the thunderbolt didn't come with swype but the evo version is working fine for me now, but I do like the beta layout more to be honest. In due time I spose

I switched over from an OG Droid running 2.3, and therefore a Gingerbread keyboard. I really loved my QWERTY, but now, I'm getting the hang of the on screen keyboard. I installed the 2.3 keyboard .apk and typing just kinda flows. It's different, but it's fluid. The switch is worth it in the end.
I came from OG Droid and it was smooth and great. always used touch screen on d1 anyways.
has anyone got a working version of swype yet? my beta copy still has spacing bug. or was beta updated? didnt want to install swype installer and go through all that if someone knows.
I get lag and unresponsive touch controls after a few hours heavy use. It is resolved with a reboot. Not many 3 party apps installed. Is there a particular way to exit apps in android, I notice not every app has a exit option in it's menu.
Most annoying is when browsing the web and the screen can't determine if it should zoom or scroll.
I'm coming from WM6.5 so if there are some basics that apply to Android and are not phone specific, please point me to the right guide.

Likely the issue. It will probably get better over time too, but the task manager is a good thing to use. Task KILLERS are bad though.

its funny that a phone that isnt out yet is the king of all phones with 0 issues. All hail the nexus, the most perfect phone to ever come out

I am cant wait till the nexus comes out actaully and you start seing the exact same threads "CAN WE DISABLE THE SOFTKEYS SO WE CAN GET MORE SCREEN REALESTATE!!!!" OMG IM RETURNING THIS FOR THE REZOUND!!1!one!!!!"
You must have seen my thread! lol
Chill out guys, the phone gets better with more development, complaining about issues that can pretty easily be resolved with some Dev effort isn't going to get us the Dev effort we want. There is an issue thread, lets keep everything confined to that thread unless it is a question that hasn't been asked. That way, they can see what the issues are, and take action as they can.
like i post everywhere, especially on youtube (because youtube=full of haters)
Nexus fanboys have become as bad as Apple fanboys. period. they're JUST as bad now, and they're annoying as ****. whatever, let him return it and get a phone that's got no definitive release date. he can have fun with his boring, ugly stock android while we love our looks of sense.
I can say that I've had 0 issues with this phone whatsoever. Which is very surprising to me being that every phone that I've ever had always had something about it that I didn't like. I can't find anything with the rezound that I don't like. No lags, battery life is good, zippy, and the screen is amazing. I haven't used the task killer as of yet and I don't think I'm gonna have to. Not trying to sound like a fanboy but it is what it is.

I think I figured it out, in the afternoon I plug the phone in to charge so it will be fully charged by the time I get off work. At that time is when I was experiencing instability. What I found the cause to be is a cheapo usb cable. Anytime I try to use the phone with that cable plugged in it would exhibit instability and a jumpy screen. It would stop immediately after I unplug the usb cable. Never had this type of problem with a cable before, I've had phones not charge because of loose fitting cables but never had a cable screw the phone up like that.

if you are plugged in, check your usb power adapter
I usually change batteries often enough on my tbolt that it isn't a problem, but I like system panel app's widget to kill all. If my phone starts to bog down, just hit it on the home screen and everything gets cleared. You can set a list of apps for it to ignore as well.
As far as nexus fanboys, yeah they are getting bad and tech bloggers are the worst. Reviews of the nexus have actually been pretty middle of the road. Engadget said that it is not as smooth as GB (ICS) and the camera was disappointing. You also can't mount your storage to usb to transfer files and the screen has some amoled issues, esp. with brightness turned down.
I'm definitely favoring the rezound, but will wait till I can score one on Craigslist for about 300.
I realize similar threads have been posted about this, such as this. Not only my issue is different here, but those threads have been dead too.
My issue here is, I'm running on a stock, unrooted T-Mobile Amaze, and I get similar issues mentioned by rooted users. Is there any workaround to this? Games and web browsing gets annoying with the jitters it gets while using multitouch, and in some games, such as minecraft, it is unplayable.
There's a pin on the back of the phone when you get the cover off. A bit more of search should help you find the thread

I saw that thread too. The thing is, it is only happening when I use multitouch. With single touch, it works flawlessly, but when I use multitouch, it's all good until I transition it to one finger. (I hope that makes sense) After that, the input goes crazy, moving everywhere.
I'll upload a video on what I'm talking about. It's hard to explain it in words, but hopefully having it on video will make this more understandable.
Here is the video:
Note: I have already tried that "bending the pin" trick, and it doesn't work.
Actually I had that same issue and after replacing the phone it ended up being widgetlocker. After I uninstalled it multi touch, especially in games, worked without an issue. Especially had problems when you would hold a touch on one part and touch other parts of the screen, such as in a game emulator.

Wow. That was actually it! I uninstalled GO Locker and those issues disappeared. Good to know that these apps can actually cause issues, but now an even better question, why do these apps cause issues?
or an othe better question, are there any lockers out there that do not cause this issue?
Ok, so me and another guy did some tests with the onex+ touch screen and found out why so many of us have issues with scrolling, we need as many people as possible to report the issue to HTC so we can get a hotfix, i dont think HTC realize at the moment, this is what to do, type in on th phone keypad *#*#3424#*#*. choose more, then choose the screen drawing option, dont draw, just touch it with your finger and see if there is a white dot, if there isnt then touch another part of the screen and then see if the previous touch shows up, if so you have the same software issue as many of us, its quite possible that its a major hardware flaw and cant be rectified in which case HTC will have to do mass repairs or recall, we are not going to stand for this at a price of £500, if you have this issue please report on HTC website, either email or chat or phone call, it needs to be done or we will have scrolling issues time and time again on each update.
What touch screen issue are you talking about? I've not heard anything about it from anyone on here. I think mine is fine. Or maybe I haven't noticed it yet.

Me and another guy discovered it, trying to sort out our scrolling problems, as of now theres an issue. 4 people have the exact same issue so far and i bet theres more.Test your screen and you will no for sure. Its causing random clicks and rubberbanding when scrolling, its not all the time and probably wouldnt notice it unless your a heavy user(always on your phone)
you have the same software issue as many of us, its quite possible that its a major hardware flaw

Yup, I noticed it too. It's gone now, since I switched over to CM10. It makes no sense! (See what I did there? )
I think I'm that other guy OP was talking about. I have this scrolling issue where stuff on screen are being selected or clicked on accidentally instead of scrolling though them - but never had this problem before I updated to the most recent firmware, so I'm pretty sure this is a software thing.
Best we could do right now is report to HTC.

Oh, so switching to a custom rom solves it. Must learn about those stuff then.
Had very similar problem on the sensation. Ended up being a bad ground. It was easy to fix because you could take the cover off. Small piece of aluminum foil or solder fixed it like new. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17072026#post17072026
Also i assume you guys are talking about the international version..? Anyone with US ATT version experience this issue yet?

It would be nice to know if the problem shows its ugly head on the lte/4g versions, its def got to be reported, if its hardware they will have to recall or fix them, and they cant turn away people who are rooted or have custom roms if it hardware. Hi sharpshooterr, yes op is you, i couldnt remember your name untill i seen it lol. Same test on the onex with android 4.1.1 with sense 4+ shows the screen is perfect, theres not even any lag when drawing either. Things like this shouldnt be getting through quality control on high end flagship devices, really shows HTC is going down hill fast.
As of now i think your testing might be a little flawed, you are using the wrong test. This is a line draw test, not a touch test. Its liable to act the same for everyone when just touching. How does it draw for you? Draws fine for me. the thing about touching then touching again and both dots show is not any sort of test IMO because again this is a LINE DRAW test. Maybe download some of the touch and multitouch tests from the market and try those.
Dont get me wrong, if there is something wrong then it needs to be addressed. I applaud you for trying to bring it public. You should look into some other tests though. HTC will not pay any attention to this issue if its brought to them like this. Get some more info, more tests, different tests.. The more the merrier
With the information i've read here it does sound software related though.. custom roms can fix it and firmware updates can break it. Doesn't sound hardware to me.

Ok, ive tested the same drawing test screen on the onex, doesnt happen, soon as you touch the screen it registers under your finger, the screen has to register the first touch in that same spot your finger is on no matter what your doing, this is why its clicking in other places and rubber banding when your scrolling, its registering to late, and the line drawing lags like f---k. When your drawing your keeping your finger on it so its going to register eventually in the place you want it, its no good when your scrolling. Ive reproduced the same in gesture search, and again on the onex it doesnt do it in gesture search. Keep in mind there both running android 4.1.1 with 4+ sense, the only screen difference is the glass. If what your saying is true then the onex should be the same way so i know its not down to he test app along with the other tests ive done. Eitherway theres def a problem with scrolling.Your probably right about HTC not doing anything.EDIT: Ive decided to refund or sell it and carry on using the onex, it just seems faster, battery last longer.

With the exception of insert coin my phone is the same. I do not have this problem. Something is wrong with the rom, your kernel or your phone if you are having touch screen issues.
I am unlocked, running elegancia, rooted. I do not have TWRP flashed as there are issues charging when the battery dies. Even when i did I never had touch screen issues.
Multi touch is useless also, only 2 fingers register, on a brandnew high end device and it only supports 2 finger multitouch, oh yes, i have a touch screen app that actually registers a soon as you touch the screen, but its only one app, all others i tested do as i described so i really do not know what to think, its def not hardware, its down to the software, we should get 4.2.1 soon and hopefully it will be gone, as the op said, i dont think HTC will do anything, especially now i found an app that makes the touch work as it should. So, basically, dont worry to much, its not the hardware. Ive boxed my onex+ back up and im using the onex untill new OS, i might even flash stock nexus 4 OS on the onex.

To get the device to register more than 2 fingers go into settings -Display, gestures & buttons - turn off under gestures - HTC gestures (uncheck) this will give you up to 10 multitouch points.

I think what he said is absurd, I didn't disable HTC gestures and enabled "show touches" under developer options and the screen picks up my 10 fingers.

wow absurd huh? I can confirm that it is NOT absurd and works the way he posted it... even if you hit show touches in development, and leave htc gestures checked, none of the multitouch testing apps pick up more than 2 touches... even though you can see more, they dont register as touches in apps and games.. So... in order to have the full 10 point multitouch, no matter how absurd you think it is, HTC gestures must be unchecked.. Google it

wow absurd huh? I can confirm that it is NOT absurd and works the way he posted it... even if you hit show touches in development, and leave htc gestures checked, none of the multitouch testing apps pick up more than 2 touches... even though you can see more, they dont register as touches in apps and games.. So... in order to have the full 10 point multitouch, no matter how absurd you think it is, HTC gestures must be unchecked.. Google it

You misunderstand, I'm saying that it's absurd that boe323's saying the device can only support up to two touches and multi-touch is useless. Since you yourself said it will register up to 10 touches with the correct setting then it IS absurd that he claims it can only pick up two. Even the HTC gesture settings clearly says 3 finger-touches so that in itself made his statement of only two-touch support absurd.
It seems that you think I'm disagreeing with ihavoc, you should improve your reading comprehension.
