[Q] Data Usage Reporting - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am looking for an app that you can install on a phone that will send daily reports of data usage for that phone, specifically data that was used on the cellular network, via email or SMS.
I think something like:
3G Watchdog Pro SMS extension (I cannot post the link, it's in the play store)
although I haven't used that app, as it requires the paid version of 3G Watchdog Pro. I'm not against paying for the app, but I thought I would look for free alternatives first, and I'm not entirely sure it will do what I want.
Certain MVNOs don't provide an online resource for checking data usage. I know that this is part of the cost with using an MVNO versus a top carrier. Being being able to see a report of data usage for accounts, even if it's just a daily report, can help to monitor data usage and activity. It would be easier if I could have all of this information reported to me daily, rather than having to physically review the data usage on each phone.
I'm just wondering if there are any such apps available or if the referenced 3G Watchdog SMS Extension is the only one. And I don't even know what all it reports.

Minutes/Txts Counter

I was wondering, is there a built-in counter for minutes/txts/internet usage?
If not, is there an application which you would recommend?
I'm assuming there's no such function?
oohh, now that would be useful. Currently I have to log into my Orange account online and via the website I can find out how many remaining mins and texts I have - although it would be better and more senisible to have an app on the Hero that retreives such info.
For internet usage I use a app called NetCounter which tracks the amount of data which has been transfered over Wifi and (more importantly) mobile network.

HTC Android Vulnerability - Exposes Phone numbers, Gps, SMS, Emails etc

If you are running a HTC Android smartphone with the latest updates applied, chances are your personal data is freely accessible to any app you have given network access to in the form of full Internet permissions. This vulnerability isn’t a backdoor or some inherent flaw in Android, it is instead HTC failing to lock down its data sharing policies used in the Tell HTC software users have to allow or disallow on their phone. The problem being, not only is your data vulnerable when Tell HTC is turned on, it’s just as vulnerable when it is turned off.
In brief, any app on affected devices that requests a single android.permission.INTERNET (which is normal for any app that connects to the web or shows ads) can get its hands on:
the list of user accounts, including email addresses and sync status for each
last known network and GPS locations and a limited previous history of locations
phone numbers from the phone log
SMS data, including phone numbers and encoded text (not sure yet if it's possible to decode it, but very likely)
system logs (both kernel/dmesg and app/logcat), which includes everything your running apps do and is likely to include email addresses, phone numbers, and other private info
But that's not all. After looking at the huge amount of data (the log file was 3.5MB on my EVO 3D) that is vulnerable to apps exploiting this vulnerability all day, I found the following is also exposed:
active notifications in the notification bar, including notification text
build number, bootloader version, radio version, kernel version
network info, including IP addresses
full memory info
CPU info
file system info and free space on each partition
running processes
current snapshot/stacktrace of not only every running process but every running thread
list of installed apps, including permissions used, user ids, versions, and more
system properties/variables
currently active broadcast listeners and history of past broadcasts received
currently active content providers
battery info and status, including charging/wake lock history
and more
Quite simply put these are HUGE vulnerabilities that people need to be aware of. This problem is only effecting stock roms so if you are rooted you have no cause for alarm.

Nitrodesk Touchdown Exchange data usage?

Does anyone here know how data-hungry Touchdown Exchange is? I just installed it, and recently got a warning about data usage from my network provider for the first time. It could be a coincidence, but it made me curious about whether TOuchdown regularly pulls down large volumes of data (e.g. auto-downloading email attachments).
Does anyone have any knowledge of how Touchdown manages data usage?
We don't automatically download attachments, you have to implicitly choose to download them by default.
There's nothing in TD that would drastically increase your data usage unless you chose to download your entire inbox or something like that. By default, TD only downloads 3 days worth of mail.
I'd watch it for a day or use one of the many bandwidth tools to watch the data usage.
We can check the size of the DB and see if it's really TD causing it. Our support team can walk you though this. You can reach them at [email protected]

[Q] How to Block a number (spam)

I am getting daily calls from a number(262-704-9780) and want to block it. They are calling my carrier number which I have not used or given out anywhere (T-mobile $30 prepaid plan). I use google voice on data instead.
How can I block a number on the Moto E 2015?
I can't find any setting in the Phone/dialer app, contacts, or in the Android settings. The T-mobile site doesn't have any functionality for this and although they do have a paid Family allowance addon, it is not even available for prepaid plans. I am guessing that I will need to install a separate app. Any app recommendations that are lightweight with minimal permissions would be great.

Can I setup this MOTO E rom like this?

Yesterday my brother bought a Consumer Cellular MOTO E LTE (2nd Generation) 2015 device. It is a XT1527 with Android 5.1. He only got a 1500 text and 150mb data plan. This is his first smartphone ever and his last phone was a 2005 flip phone.
This is how he plans on using it. He wants it for checking Gmail, making a few hundred text messages every month, and for BT Headset phone calls. He is a truck driver and that is all it will be used for. He does not need Hangouts, Chrome or anything else on the device for that matter, not yet anyway. How can I setup his MOTO E like that? I already set a data limit to 150MB, but he wants 100% of all of that 150MB data for checking gmail only. Not sure if he plans on replying to gmail messages, but unless its important I doubt it.
Is this phone possible to setup like that and can I uninstall most of his unused apps? OH, and I already tried to remove apps such as Chrome and Hangouts and only updates get removed, not the entire app. So I will need root, but not sure I should try that on the XT1527. Maybe its possible to install and run a already rooted ROM without unlocking the bootloader? Any ideas on how to accomplish the above tasks?
Try disabling unwanted internet using apps from settings, disable sync for everything except contacts and gmail and also switch on "Background data restrictions" to avoid any apps running in the background to use up data. If you're using only mobile data, even turning on battery saver mode at all times will indirectly help you save some data
