Hai there guise!
A generous XDA member has hooked us up with a leak. They can be referred to as the Anti-Plumber, with more leaks than the Super Mario bros!

Keep in mind that in flashing this, you:
-Cannot go back to 4.3. Even if you restore a backup, the system will not boot.
-Cannot update via OTA since it will be for those on MJ4.
-You really cannot go back after flashing NAB. This is official software without an engineering bootloader (for now).
NC5 Specifics:
Going from NAB to NC5 with the updater zip, this means that it is no longer possible to go back to prior bootloaders and Android versions, such as Android 4.3. Once the software is finalized and official, I will attempt to preserve the engineering bootloader with a flashable file i will make myself. So if you want to wait on that, I would suggest not flashing this, as I cannot verify the ability to downgrade after you've got an official 4.4.2 bootloader. Any attempts to downgrade is at your own risk, and cannot be officially supported in this thread.
NC5D Specifics:
NC5D you ask? Yeah, there's an update from NC5 to NC5D. I have no idea what this means for us but I can only assume it's something...cool.....maybe. Below steps apply. You need to be on official NAB of course.
NC5(D) Instructions: (MOST RECENT)
LEGEND:
DOWNLOAD MODE: VOL+DOWN+HOME+POWER
RECOVERY MODE: VOL+UP+HOME+POWER
Make sure to be on official NAB (by flashing the NAB tar from Odin so that your binary and system are both official.)
After you're on NAB, copy SM-N900P_NAB_to_NC5.zip to your EXTERNAL SD. When done, power off your phone, and boot into STOCK recovery. From there, use the down arrows to select install from external then press the power button to confirm. Scroll down and select the copied zip, and press power to confirm.
If you have signature verification errors, you may need to reflash MJ4. It could be one of the following:
-Either your binary, system, or both are still "custom" in Odin/Android
-Incomplete zip download
-Corrupted zip
If all goes well, congrats!

Make sure to be on official MJ4 (by flashing the MJ4 tar from Odin so that your binary and system are both official samsung.)
After you're on MJ4, boot back into download mode.
You will need to add the TAR to the PDA field in Odin and the PIT file to the PIT section.
Once flashed and booted into the leak, use your phone to download the SuperSU.zip from here:
http://download.chainfire.eu/381/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.91.zip
Once done, power off and boot into download mode and from here, you will need to decide if you want to auto-reboot, if so leave the box check and prepare to hold down the volume+up and home keys immediately after your phone reboots from flashing the TWRP recovery to boot into recovery. If not, uncheck the auto-reboot box and flash the TWRP recovery from the PDA slot. If you've opted to not auto-reboot, once the flash is done, you will need to hold down the power key to power off your phone and boot into recovery.
Once you've successfully flashed and have booted into TWRP recovery, go ahead and flash the SuperSU zip that you downloaded from your phone. It should be in the Download folder.
Congratulations. You now have root! Enjoy!

Hey just so ya know, I just upgraded to your SolidROM stock 3.6 GUI version 3.0, and so far I'm liking what I'm seeing! Looks like you hit another home run with this one :good: even the whole wipe, install ROM, and restore the /data partition trick works just fine... Beats seems to be working even without headphones and I like how you got the current battery percentage in the battery icon rather than clutter up more space on my dashboard the disk drive mounting seems to work (at least on windows 7 x64 anyway) AND I get ROOT ACCESS: OK in Android Commander

Just wanted to give a quick review. I've been running the Sense 3.6 stock GUI v3.0 (stock clock) for the past few days and it has been phenomenal. Stable as a rock, Beats works and sounds fantastic in PowerAmp, and battery life is amazing. I'm not a "poweruser," I only use for phone for moderate internet browsing, listening to music and the occasional Netflix show/movie so I have no need for overclocking. I also prefer to have better battery life to performance. This was my battery life after almost 3 days with light use.
Many thanks for a great rom, Trib!

I. First and foremost,
make sure to have the Android SDK installed with the android usb drivers and tools installed.
Also, put your phone in fastboot mode by holding the volume rocker down while powering on the phone.
Next, plug in your device and install these drivers.
II. Next, UnLock your bootloader (If you're already unlocked, please skip this step):
Make sure that you're S-off.
0. Download http://goo.im/devs/Tribulattifather/Evo_3D/Fixes/Shooter_hboot_1.50.0000.exe
Put device in fastboot (by pressing the power button on your phone while holding the volume down and you should see Fastboot USB. If you don't, just press the power button when Fastboot is highlighted.) and run the above Shooter_hboot_1.50.0000.exe
1. Go here:
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
2. Register and follow the instructions.
III. Get flashed to a stock rom -
1. Download this one:
http://goo.im/devs/Tribulattifather...706__NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed.ex e
2. Now reboot into Fastboot again.
3. Once you' see Fastboot USB, run the RUU.exe.
Let that work it's way through.
Once that is done then it will boot to the rom.
4. Pull the battery when you see the lockscreen.
III. Then it's time to push a recovery.img.
1. Download http://animeondroid.host22.com/recovery.img = Thanks 4ext team.
2. Once that is downloaded, place the recovery.img into your adb location (at C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools).
Now if you're not using a 64-bit OS then you won't need the ' (x86).'
3. Okay. once the .img is in there then use the command prompt.
To get to the command prompt, go into the start menu and type in CMD in the run bar.
Once this opens, then in like the picture, type in:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools
Click to collapse
4. Press Enter. This will change the directory to your adb location.
Now the command prompt will look a bit like this:
5. Now power your phone into fastboot in the bootloader once again. Just hook your phone up to the usb and then go into the bootloader and press power after it loads. You should see Fastboot USB.
6. Type in:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Click to collapse
If you're recovery img isn't named this, then rename it to recovery.img, it's easiest ^>^
7. Then hit enter and the phone will be flashed with the recovery.
IV. Boot into the Recovery
1. Press the Power button.
2. Use the volume down button and press power on RECOVERY.
3. Once you're on recovery, flash this superuser zip:
http://d-h.st/F3y
Now here you can flash a rom or just stay like you are..

EDIT: Using for screenshot hosting..
The New OTA From sprint has a new HBOOT.... WHAT COULD IT BE.
Is it HBOOT 1.5.? or is it HBOOT 1.6?
Can this be flashed over the top of the previous stock rooted Rom? Meaning, can we flash over the most recent stock GB Rom as if we were accepting the OTA and not have to wipe data?
Also, do we need the new radio or anything else?
EDIT: 20 more for the o.p.
ty so much!!!!
Awesome thanks!
Awesomeness!
I am on Hboot 1.4 and it boot loops....Am I to upgrade the Hboot? It starts with htc screen goes to Sprint, black screen and then starts again with htc screen.

Does not appear to be working with S-On and 1.5. The phone just freezes at the HTC screen. It has been over 10 minutes, and no activity yet.
Awesome thanks for upload! I'm going to install this over cleanrom gingerbread rom. I'm still on hboot 1.4. Is it suffice to say that I should do nandroid then complete wipe and format before installing this?

I545 ALL-IN-ONE TOOL ROOT + RECOVERY INSTALLER
**READ READ READ AND READ AGAIN**
DO NOT RUN IF YOU ARE ON NEW ME7 OTA UPDATE!
This tool was created to simplify the rooting and recovery installation on this device. The rooting method used is the same method already posted in this development section. I just put all the resources into a tool and provided easy to follow instructions. The root process is not a one click. You must read instructions in tool window for each step of the rooting process. It is very straightforward and easy to follow, but you must follow the instructions exactly. Once rooting is complete all other steps are one click features including recovery installation.
Make sure you have latest samsung drivers installed. I recommend downloading Samsung Kies, It will automatically download latest drivers for you. Make sure unknown sources is checked and USB Debugging is enabled or the tool will not see your phone. Also make sure you do not have any pw or pattern lock screen enabled. As soon as you start step 1 check your phone screen. You will see a prompt to authorize your computer. Select ALWAYS ALLOW. This is the cause of the majority of errors. Also the usb cable that came with your s4 is recommended. If you are having issues with odin recognizing your phone check drivers and try using a different usb port. If using a desktop I recommend using the rear usb ports. Prep step (#2) removes install-recovery.sh and KNOXAgent.apk from your phone. These have been known to cause unwanted errors.
If when rebooting from recovery you are prompted with a message advising root may have been lost would you like recovery to fix it? I have always chosen NO and had no issues.
I do not offer support on either recovery or any rom you flash after this process. Check their respective threads for any and all information. Links to both recovery threads are included as options in tool.
I've included latest CWM (credit OUDHS & Shabbypenguin) and TWRP (credit Team Win). The rooting method and kernels used were provided by sextape. The step by step root process from open1your1eyes0. The motochopper exploit was created by the legendary djrbliss. Also a big thanks to djrbliss for Loki, without which none of this would be possible. Make sure to find these fine folks and give thanks, money, beer, your first born..... whatever you see fit.
I'd also like to thank niv3d, an21281, CraziiChief and all of my other testers. I'd also like to thank my wife and kids for leaving me alone while I worked on this. Mirrors are ok, just pm me the link to list in the OP.
Hope this makes someones life easier.... Have a nice day!!!!
Instructions:
Download zip file
Unzip on desktop
Connect phone with USB debugging enabled
Click RUN_ME (inside unzipped folder)
Pick option and go!!
Have patience it takes a few for cpu to see phone after reboots and in Odin
dont disconnect phone until process is complete
If stock start with option 1
If already rooted start with option 2 then choose recovery

I tested this utility a few hours ago and it works great! Just make sure to follow the directions and give it time to do every step, very easy!
Complete newb question here, and searching didn't turn up much.. Seeing as there is no Bootloader unlock yet, theoretically you should be able to just revert to stock and unroot and no one would know you were ever rooted/ROMd, right?
If I completely missed a post that explained this, sorry.. I searched and didn't see it.
Yep. Just Odin back to stock and you're done.

To unlock the Dev Options menu, go to Settings -> About Device and scroll down to the "Build Number." Now, tap on your "Build Number" five times, and you should see a toast notification pop up saying "Developer mode has been enabled." Back out of the About Device menu and you'll see Dev Options back where it belongs, so you can turn on USB Debugging and whatever else you want to.

It was a small thing in the top left corner of the screen, I could only see with the screen off. It looked like glue or a tiny hair under the glass. I was mostly just worried it was going to get worse over time. I didn't even notice it until I was putting a screen protector on (you know how impossible it is to get rid of all that dust). Free replacement through Verizon though because it's a defect.

Ok, so you now have a current rom and need/want to update your firmware:
If that is the case, I have supplied the firmware.zip here, that will update the firmware and radios to the latest version.
How to flash the Full firmware/radio zip:
Download the appropriate firmware version for your stock based rom:
4.09.605.8_NoBootImg_NoRecovery_FULL_COMBO_FIRMWARE LATEST***
FULL_COMBO: Contains all previous and current firmware files.
Is all you need, coming from any previous version.
KitKat 4.09.605.5 NoBootImg_firmware.zip
KitKat 4.09.605.1 NoBootImg_firmware.zip
Jellybean 3.06.605.4 firmware.zip
Place the zip in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip (rename file to firmware.zip)
It will say that the update did not finish, to flush again, so repeat the above step:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Important: the flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
The bar will only fill up to 100% once you type the following command:
Click to collapse
fastboot reboot-bootloader (this reboots the device to bootloader)
That's it, you're done. You can now reboot and will be running the latest firmware and radios.
If you have any questions or issues, let me know.
OTA Package for the 4.09.605.5 Update
OTA Package for the 4.09.605.8 Update
Radio - Flashable Zips
I suggest flashing the FULL Firmware without boot.img at the top of this post, instead of just radio alone.
As firmware contains other important radio/modem related files, that work along with the matching baseband.
4.09.605.5 OTA: Baseband 1.02.01.0818 Recovery Flashable Zip
4.09.605.1 OTA: Baseband 1.02.01.0207 Recovery Flashable Zip
Recovery - Stock 4.4.2
4.09.605.5 Stock DNA Recovery
fastboot flash recovery 4.09.605.5_Stock-Recovery.img
Does the red development text on the splash screen bother you after unlocking your device?
If so, I have a modified hboot for you that takes care of it.
This was simply hex edited by me to remove the text from the screen, no other changes were made.
I have tested it and it is 100% proven to work without any side effects.
FROM THIS >>>
TO THIS >>>
Let's get to it!
You must be S-Off to do this!
To Install:
Download your modified hboot:
No Red Text 4.09.605.8 hboot
No Red Text 4.09.605.5 hboot
No Red Text 4.09.605.1 hboot
Place the zip in your fastboot/adb directory on your computer.
Put the device in fastboot mode
(Volume down and power until menu appears, select fastboot using power button)
Connect the device to the computer
Enter the following commands from terminal/command prompt in the fastboot directory, one at a time:
fastboot oem rebootRUU (this puts the device in RUU mode)
fastboot flash zip nameoffile_hboot.zip (this flashes the modified hboot zip file)
Important: the flash process halts at around 75% to 90% on phone screen! This is normal and a safety precaution!
The last few percent is the reboot, which is NOT happening automatically, so you get a chance to check the console output before reboot to make sure it is safe to reboot!
The bar will only fill up to 100% once you type the following command:
fastboot reboot-bootloader (this reboots the device to bootloader)
That's it, you're done. You can now reboot and not see the red text anymore.
If you have any questions or issues, let me know.
Now for my RED TEXT:
DisclaimerYou are aware that writing to the security protected partitions increases your risk to lose the device exponentially.
You understand and agree that i cannot be held responsible for such or any other damages.
The flash process is theoretically safe and tested, however you are the brains behind the wheel and you are solely responsible for the execution of the process.
I will not accept any responsibility. The method itself is developed by Google and HTC, i only provide access and information to it and you execute it.
You understand that you should not do it if you are not willing to accept this risk.
If you plan on reverting to stock-relocked, for any reason:
You should follow the above steps first, but use this Stock firmware/hboot instead.
Do this before you relock the bootloader.
-FAUX LOCKED HBOOTS-
(not really Locked and S-on but appear that way)
Since I initially posted this:
I had a couple requests for a modified hboot that shows the device as being Locked and S-On, while being completely unlocked and S-Off.
I went ahead and made that as per request and have tested it as well.
The process is the same as the one I wrote above, with the exception of the filename.
4.09.605.5 Faux Locked hboot
4.09.605.1 Faux Locked hboot.
Enjoy and be careful!!
I'd be down with trying debloated version.

Yes it was and I just saw that and was fixing the OP.
Had it posted in another forum as well which is where I saw it first.
Sorry about that, been running 5.5 for so long it's hard to think about 5.0 anymore.

Installed the radio only. I noticed that the op says 1.01.01.1012 and so does t1gartist's thread. When I look at bootloader and system>about I see 1.01.01.1112 is this just a typo?
I'm posting from my phone now, so it does work thanks!

I'm curious does ISIS mobile wallet show in the market for this rom stock?
Now is the the newest radio update and will the radio update work with any custom rom or do you half to flash this stock rom.
Port of CF-autoroot for the Tab A and Tab A plus.
Supports all models.
See the link below for details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3124284
NOTE: does not support Marshmallow.
To root MM install TWRP provided below and use Supersu.
You flash this at your own risk. Please ensure you have the stock ROM to hand downloaded from SAMMOBILE in case of problems. This will trip the knox counter.
Flash with Odin3 v3.10.6.
Please post any feedback.

Flash with ODIN 3.10.7 in the AP slot.
Uncheck Auto reboot.
Load the respective file above into the AP slot and hit start.
After flashing and ODIN reports PASS immediately reboot to recovery by holding POWER + HOME + VOL DOWN.
As soon as the screen goes blank change to VOL UP whilst still holding POWER + HOME.
You should now see TWRP recovery.

Well the P version of the Tab A has SPen while the T version doesn't. I'm guessing since the hardware is similar, try the T350 at your risk.

It is quite likely the same story as the tab s. T800 kernel boots on all t80x models.
As they all use the same ramdisk it should boot.

It doesn't matter which firmware you're running. If your model matches it will work.

Howto
I didn't find any clear instructions on how to do this except for this french site. I tested with my SM-T550 and it worked like a charm.
Download all files as described in OP, and Odin
1. Turn off your tablet
2. Simultaneously press the keys: Volume Down + Home + Power . Then press volume up to select download mode.
3. On your computer, open Odin in administrator mode. Odin3-v3.10.6.exe in the zip file.

@sinnadyr Your screen capture after step 6 is different from the .tar file I have downloaded. I have SM-t550_cf-autoroot.tar
Are these the same steps I should be using for my Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-P555)? I am a little confused.
I picked up a Galaxy Tab A 9.7 Wifi a few days ago i am going to be working on trying to get an aosp tree working on it.
Are there any other threads for the tab a other then the one linked in op?
Basic Tree:
https://github.com/deadman96385/android_device_samsung_gt510wifi
Kernel:
https://github.com/deadman96385/android_kernel_samsung_gt510wifi
There isnt a dedicated forum yet. Somebody needs to request for one to admin.
You should add a tag to the op so it shows up when searching for the tab a i think its
Samsung Galaxy Tab A Series

Well from the breadcrumb below, it is rather hard to find this thread.
xda-developers > Android Development and Hacking > Miscellaneous Android Development > [ROOT]Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T550/P550/P555/T350/P350/P355
Should these threads be combined into a top level forum such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-A-Series
Anyway, this is my two cents on the matter. What do you think?

I've asked admin a couple of times for this post to be added to the root directory thread, but to no avail.
As of 8/28/18 SamFAIL is officially depreciated. There is no new root method at this time and i will not be helping find another one. Bootloader V3 is the final version of SamFAIL for Note8. DO NOT PM ME ASKING FOR HELP!!!
Introducing:
SamFAIL!
Root for the USA Snapdragon Samsung Galaxy Note 8! (N950U,N950U1,N950W)
WARNING! The latest Note8 software update(U4XXXX) blocks samFail(All carriers.). DO NOT UPDATE IF YOU WANT ROOT!
SamFAILv3 Has been Released There is an addititonal step in Part 1 for V3 ONLY.
Bootloader check guide(Green can be rooted, Red can not be rooted)
Last 6 of firmware version(X can be different):

U2XXXX or S2XXXX=Bootloader V2
U3XXXX or S3XXXX=Bootloader V3
U4XXXX or S4XXXX=Bootloader V4

Disclaimer 1: Although this method does not trip the "Knox Flag" you are still taking a risk by rooting your device. We are not responsible for your blazing fast smartphone with root! Let's hope this one doesn't catch on fire!
DISCLAIMER 1.5: THIS IS NOT FOR EXYNOS OR CHINESE MODELS!
First and foremost, SHOUTOUTS!
- @partcyborg for finding the root method!
- @me2151 for testing on Note 8 and facilitating root on the Note 8!
- @elliwigy for... Shenanigans! And thread template
- @jrkruse For the deodexed system!
- @Chainfire He will be missed! (no he is not dead, just retired.)
- Samsung for the amazing phone and leaving rediculous loopholes open for us to root!
Disclaimer 2: The method to root should be pretty straight forward as the hard work has already been done for you. With that being said, you will need to know how to download files from the internet, extract a zip file and to use ODIN. That is basically it! Oh yea, BACK UP YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE AS THIS WILL ERASE IT! PLEASE BE SURE TO READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP!
Prerequisites:
- SamFAIL Note 8 Pre-Rooted System.tar/PIT File Zip (in Post #2)
- SamFAIL Note 8 PART 2 Firmware Zip (also in Post #2)
- Comsey ODIN and Normal ODIN (Found in Post #2 Aswell)(Normal ODIN is just in case)
- Well your Note 8 of course, Need to be by a PC and ready to use Download Mode!
Part 1 Instructions:
IF YOU ARE ON U3(Rev3) bootloader you must Flash SamFAILv3_N8_FIRMWARE first THEN do part 1 THEN part 2 again. This IS a requirement. Not optional. Otherwise for U1 and U2 proceed as normal.
1) Unzip the SamFAIL Note 8 Pre-Rooted System.tar and PIT File to your PC.
2) Have Comsey ODIN up and ready. Place your Note 8 into Download Mode and Connect to PC
3) In the AP slot, select the Pre-Rooted system.tar.
4) Now go to the PIT tab(Click OK or close on the warning box) and click and navigate to the PIT file you also just downloaded and select it.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5) On the OPTIONS tab, you will select the following: Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time, NAND ERASE ALL, and Re-Partition.
6) Once you have everything in place and the correct options selected, press START.
7) ODIN will say FAIL at the end of the flash and the phone will have rebooted to upload mode saying "Unknow Error". Don't fret however, the system should have still been written!
8) You will have to get the phone back into Download mode( Hold Power, VOL- and bixby together and the phone will reboot to download mode and tell you its in emergency mode. THIS IS NORMAL.) and then proceed to Part 2 Instructions!
Basic ODIN flashing here guys... Not rocket science!
Part 2 Instructions:
1) Download and Extract the SamFAIL Note 8 Part 2 Firmware Zip to your PC
2) Click Reset in Comsey ODIN or close it out and re-open it so it is COMPLETELY cleared out
3) Now select the firmware. BL goes in BL, AP goes in AP, CP goes in CP, dont press start yet!
4) Now, this time we ARE NOT SELECTING A PIT FILE, We should just select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. DO NOT DO NAND ERASE ALL OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER.
5) Once you got the partitions in place and the right options selected, Press Start!
7) Once phone boots up, Setup your device as normal and proceed to the SuperSU app. It may ask you to update the SU Binary. Select Normal method and let it do its thing. Follow its instructions then SU should say it was Successful in updating and it needs to reboot(You may have to do it multiple times. I believe its 2 or 3 times then its good) ENJOY SamFAIL ROOT!
DISCLAIMER 3:
* SamFAIL DOES NOT TRIP KNOX
* Boot.img is SECURE which means you MUST use SYSTEM ROOT. (Similar to SamPWND)
* This means that MAGISK DOES NOT WORK
* Which also means SAFETY NET FAILS. So any apps you enjoy that require passing Safety Net will most likely not work while you are rooted with SamFAIL
* Again, similar to SamPWND, this root method uses a factory binary boot.img which is necessary to boot the modified system. THIS MEANS BATTERY ONLY CHARGES TO 80% (Thanks Samsung.)
* SamFAIL DOES NOT UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER AND DOES NOT SIM UNLOCK YOUR PHONE.
* This *should* in theory, work for other Snapdragon Models of the Note 8. If you have another model and are successful please post so we can add "support" for other models.
Back to Stock?
- Download the full STOCK firmware of your choice.
- Flash it in ODIN/Comsey ODIN as you would any other time!
- It will take a few reboots for the "custom" splash screen to go away.
BUGS!:
- Screen sometimes will be bugged out. Fix by turning screen off and back on. Caused by Factory boot files.
- Possibility of Bixby Home crashing.
- SuperSU may ask you to update it multiple times.

The exact condition is a Race condition caused by the AOD initilizing. Basially the normal screen turns on in AOD mode. Maybe once or twice a day. It happens when you turn the screen on right before the AOD starts. Hard to get timing consistantly
