[VIDEO] Trident Cyclops Case for the HTC One Max - HTC One Max

First off, I'd like to say sorry. That video was way too long. Maybe I've been downing too much cough syrup. I don't know how I could talk about one case for that long...
Since I started reviewing Trident cases, they have been always been at the top of my list. Their construction, attention to details, features, durability, and colors are what attracted me. Plus everything is reasonably priced compared to other name brand case manufacturers.
The choices used to be easy with Trident. If you wanted the highest protection available, you'd look to the Kraken Series. I compare it to the Otterbox Defender case. Taking a step back in protection to lower the bulk you could go with the Aegis. This is similar to the Otterbox Commuter case. Now Trident has more series. With the HTC One Max there was only one choice though. The Cyclops series.
This series has a lot of great features. I like the dust ports, the ease of sliding in and out of my pocket, the compromise between bulk and protection, and fairly pleasing design. It does include a built in screen protection, however I prefer glass screen protectors. If you decide to bring your own screen protector, you can always remove the built in one.
As demonstrated in the video, it can work with wireless charging IF you have an aftermarket QI receiver like mine.
Below is a list of features from Trident's website.
FEATURES
HARDENED BIO-ENHANCED POLYCARBONATE SHELL
SHOCK-ABSORBING TPE
BUILT-IN SCREEN PROTECTOR
DEVICE CONTROLS & PORTS PROTECTED
DUST FILTERS
LIGHT-WEIGHT / SLIM PROTECTION
SLIDES IN & OUT OF POCKETS
WITH EASE
LANYARD LOOP
ANTI-SKID
MILITARY STANDARDS
Meets or exceeds MIL-STD-810F
DROP PROTECTION
26 drops onto concrete from 4ft
VIBRATION
18 hrs at 20-2000 Hz
DUST FILTERS
3 hours at 29 ft / sec. Sand - 3 hours at 59 ft / sec.
RAIN / WIND
7.9 inches / hour of rain at 40 mph winds for 1 hour
GREEN PROTECTION
Degradable, compostable, and recyclable
Overall, if you like the design, I would consider it a "buy".

Matty mo's review: Seidio active case (black)

So I wanted to start out this review by saying, that when I originally bought my Evo 3D, I had purchased an Otterbox case which they sell at Sprint for it as well. I am a bit neurotic when it comes to my phones and always have to have them protected. I had the Otterbox on till the day I received my Seidio Active case from the great people of Seidio to try out. To be honest, I was actually going to use the Seidio case for a week and then go back to the Otterbox, but actually I just got back from Sprint, I just returned the Otterbox.
I have to say that in my opinion this Seidio case has the Otterbox beat hands down. The grooves that the Active case has for your fingers and the material they use for the silicone underlay just feel better. I compared the Otterbox to the Active case and when it comes to size, the Otterbox in my views is bigger and bulkier, but it seems that the Seidio case more protection. The silicone on the Otterbox feels like its half the amount used on the Active case, it’s a flimsier feel then Seidio’s. Now you would think because the Seidio case is smaller, it would give you less protection, but I feel that my phone is much more protected.
Another benefit with the size of the Seidio Active case, is that it feels much better in the pocket, however with both phones there is a bit of resistance when taking it from the pocket due to the silicone, but it happens with all silicone based cases. The only real downside I have seen with the Active case when using it for the past couple of days is that the silicone attracts lent from your pocket, but can easily removed with a wipe of a cloth.
The main thing that I am happy about, and have read in other reviews of the case is the protection the case provides to the camera. I had recently bought a TPU case from online and returned it immediately after seeing that the case lined perfectly with the camera casing, leaving it open to scratches and marks.
Another big thing that is a benefit with this case, compared to the Otterbox, is that all the cut outs for the power button and charging ports line up perfectly. I noticed that on the headphone jack on my Otterbox it was cut out incorrectly leaving me to have to jam the headphone jack into place. Not with the Active case, everything lines up perfectly. The silicone is cut to an exact precision. I know that the ports don’t have a cover like the Otterbox, but I actually prefer this, its an easy access and most of the time, I am prepared for those covers to break off in time, giving the phone a cheap look.
I know that some are disappointed that the case doesn’t come with a built in screen protector like the Otterbox but not I. I love that it doesn’t, I feel that the built in protectors have a more rubbery feel to them then other protectors. I would personally recommend the Screen Guards from Seidio; they are smooth like glass and fit to a tee.
In an overall judgment I give the phone a 10/10. There is not one thing I would change about this case, I love it more then anything. It looks great and feels even better. I would highly recommend this case to anyone who is in the market for a new case. Not only are you buying a great case, you are buying it from a great company that is willing to go that extra mile and help you out when it is needed, whether it is a return or replacement, and this type of customer service just gives me that little extra push to buy Seidio then any other company.
Looks just like the Innocase Rugged( minus the inner 2-piece hard shell) that I used on my Evo 4G before going to the Ballistic HC. How much is this case and who all sells it? Hope to be getting my 3D in the next couple weeks and may just get this case to go on it. My Innocase Rugged held up great, just replaced it with the Ballistic HC based on looks....
Still torn though honestly, I like the fact that the Otterbox covers the camera area better

Looks nice man love the otter box defender keeps the ports covered . I was thinking about the convert combo looks cool tho heard bad things about the rebrand from breast buy folks said it was cheap feel and broke at times for folks camera flap was kinda gay folks were sayin it had a bad feel .
If u test the convert combo out let me know to me the otter box defender looks way and feels better then what breast buy has out sexy and smooth.
When trident and ballistic come out with the kraken and aegis from trident will be sweet and the tank from ballistic will be sweet .
Yeah, i like the port covers but on the otterbox case i had for less then a week, the port covers already started to rip before returning it which is a downside... thats why i like having no port covers, its in preparation of when it does fall off!
and just so you know, this is the Active Case, made by Seidio.
Agree 100% with OP. Returned Otterbox Defender (too bulky, hard to type) returned Otterbox Commuter (felt thin, cheap, low quality, rubber not tight)
Bought Seido rebranded as Platinum from Bestbuy same as OP (except mine is black rubber with white back.) Rubber is almost TWICE as thick as Otterbox, way tighter on phone and just feels much much better. Better grip, better weight (and +1 on appearance)
it was $37.88 at bestbuy, same price as my Otterbox commuter refund.
Totally satisfied, would recommend 100%, would buy this PT/Seido again tomorrow if I had to.
Edit...and no power slot cover which is a +1 since it eliminates the extra step pain in the a.. and seemed unnecessary anyway. Can of aerosol air blast removes and dust or lint from that port in 2 seconds
...nice upgrade from hero
I'm a Seidio fan.
The only problem I ever saw personally with the active case was the corner pieces breaking easily. I had a couple of them and experienced the same problem. Otherwise...nice case.

Speck candyshell grip case finally available!

Just ordered it tonight and will post pictures when I finally get it. That was my favorite case, with the standard battery, for my s4 when I had it. Slim, rubber inside, hard shell outside, rubber ribs for grip and anti slide on the back. It never interfered with a tempered glass screen protector, as long as you installed it perfectly centered in accordance with the edges of the frame, not the home button. It's on sale, this weekend, and I'm guessing until cyber Monday, for five dollars off and free shipping via USPS. http://www.speckproducts.com/smartphone-cases/samsung/candyshell-grip-for-samsung-galaxy-note-3.html
Nice find. I like Speck. They make quality stuff.

Never used a speck case before I like the design ..how does it. Compare to a uag or otterbox commuter in terms of size/protection?
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
It's similar to a UAG in terms of protection. One layer silicone inside lining, attached to the plastic exterior.
Different then a commuter with a wrap around silicone lining with a separate exterior hard lining
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
It's smaller than the commuter. When you install or remove it, the case is all one piece. The layers don't come off. Easy to put on or take off. Shouldn't need reaming mod for most headphones. Won't slide when placed on a surface back down. Good amount of lip protecting the screen and camera. The rubber layer is slightly harder density than rubber on otterbox.
Def glad to see it out for the Note3. I plan on ordering this when 12am hits for cyber monday from the Speck website. Just wish they had the white and black version like they usually do.
I had a Speck candyshell (non-grip) for the iPhone 5s and loved it. It was hot pink and white but it was only $5. Not digging the Spigen Neo Hybrid because its way to slippery for a phone this big. The issue I see here is that it's $40.
Edit: Speck has a holiday deal knocking the price down to $35.
Edit 2: The case is now $30 after 25% off.
I love my tech 21 for my note 3, but would be interested in the Speck. I like the candyshell over the Candyshell grip though
Looks like black is out of stock.
Sent from my vzw note 3
Glad I ordered mine before making this post. Hopefully I'll get it before Friday. I'll post pics when I get it. Lots of close ups so you all can see the details.
Previous reply was rejected. I'm not going to type out all that again. My pictures and a video turned out crappy and out of focus. Long story short. This case protects better than just tpu but less than otterbox defender. It's slender and fits snug. The same quality you can expect if you've ever owned a speck case before. Grip ribs help with sliding but won't make it an effort to get out of a pocket like a glossy tpu or silicone case. Quality of build and function I give it five out of five. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. This case will definitely be my daily driver!

Tight fit!
They are better at excluding dust than any other case in my experience. If they used a plug to cover the USB/earphone jack openings they would be better than anything else out there for this kind of protection.
That's a good thing too as being harder to put on and take off means intrusive dust could potentially grind on the finish, etc.
Bad news for battery swappers though.
Protection is good, you can literally toss it at a brick wall repeatedly and not worry about damage or even the case coming off in between throws. The grip is also far better at not showing wear/scratches from sitting on tables, etc. like the normal version. The high gloss back of the normal version will reveal marring/scuffing of sitting on tables, countertops, etc. in relatively short order.
Bulk-wise they fall in between a minimalistic TPU (Diztronic, Bounce, Tudia, etc.) and UAG with protection on par with UAG.
Its asking price is fair for the quality received.
Just got mine today and fitment, quality, etc. is identical to past Speck products.
The buttons are covered, retain their clicky tactile feel and are no more difficult to depress than the naked phone! Fit is very snug, have not tried to take it off. It feels identical in hand to the candyshell grip that I use on my HTC one. It adds very little thickness, very similar to a TPU with far better drop protection. Even with a TPU I cringe if the phone slips, no worries here. Cutouts are well aligned and very tight. The S-pen cutout is quite tight requiring a fingernail to pull it out.
The camera is recessed sufficiently to prevent issues with setting down/dropping back first on a hard surface. The overall feel is it's well thought out and does not look thrown together like some other cases that were rushed to production. Worth the $$$ and I got another five bucks off ($30 total) by using a CNET coupon code. I always Google for codes when I see it on a website at checkout. Not sure if it's still valid and the black grip is OOS now...
Amazon doesn't even have this case (yet) and to get it for $10 off is a no-brainer!
Its a nice case i love the way the button, might have the best feedback but this case is worthless, within a few hours scratches will start to form and by the 2nd week you already want to replace because of the scratches. The darker the case the faster the scrtches will appear
I didn't notice scratches with my s4 and I had the case for months. Even so, it's better for the case to get scratches than the phone.

then you must carry it in a cloth because everyone knows specks cases scratch within like 1 day like they've been in a warzone. they are great cases but they don't keep the look.
$40 for that? Ouch. Looks like it should be $19.99 to me.
Yeah I keep mine in my pocket with nothing else in that pocket.
I never liked the Speck Candyshells. They scratch up like it's no one's business. They do look real good when you take it out of the package though.
Best thing is that they will replace their cases without any questions asked

[VIDEO] Otterbox Commuter Series Case for the HTC One Max - Unboxing / First Look

NOTE: I now have my little daughter around so you might hear random outbursts.
I only have two cases for the HTC One Max currently. Both are very popular. There's the Otterbox Commuter case as seen in this video and the Incipio DualPro. I purchased it from a retail Verizon Wireless store.
The Commuter is a little bit wider, taller, and thicker than the DualPro. It feels really tough, and I'm sure would protect this device for the highly active user. The port covers will deter most dust, debris, liquid form going directly in them.
I have to note that out of all of the Commuter cases I've owned, this is the hardest one to fit on the device. The rubber barely wants to align with the plastic. It's not a deal breaker. Most people would probably be turned off by the size more than anything else. The plastic does allow the case to slide in and out of pockets a little bit easier than if it was all rubber. Only draw back would be grip while holding the case, however it isn't that slippery if your hands are dry.
Available in black or glacier currently. Just like the Defender series case. Retail cost is $44.95.
At the time of the video, I couldn't find these on Otterbox's site. That's changed:

What Case Has Provided The Best Protection? This is For The Regular S7.

Was just Wondering What Case Has Provided You With The Best Protection With Your Phone? Was Just Wondering Cause I Have The Otter box Commuter And Just Wanted To Make Sure I Chose The Best Case That Will Protect My Phone. Thanks for the feedback! I will hit that like button.
Any cheap rubber or plastic case that is higher on all four sides than the screen will protect the phone amazingly. After that it is just a matter of style and materials to your preference IMHO. A 1 dollar case off ebay or aliexpress will protect the phone fine. It might look like crap but it will protect the phone AFAIK.
Do you care only for protection or also for compactness?
First of all make sure the case you want to buy is military grade tested.
For pure protection you should buy a case with a front tpu cover like poetic revolution, otterbox got one i think as well.
If you care for protection but also for compactness then i would go for UAG, Evutec or otterbox symmetry or spigen slim armor if on limited budget. There are more, i am just naming a few.
Go with the "Unicorn Beetle" case. It's compact and hugs the phone great. Great protection, screen protector and comes with a strong holster. I've had this case for all of my phones. Great product and the price is right on ebay for about 17 to 25 dollars!

I completely agree with you. My case who had raised sides, protected my phone from a 2 ft drop on tiled floors. Dropped on bottom left corner first, then stopped screen down. To my amazement no crack or scratches on the front & back glass.
My case:

I use the incipio dual pro on mine and it has survived many accidental drops Adds a tiny bit of size but I personally like the grip and size much more with the case on. Also power button and volume buttons on the case feel great and I never accidentally press them.

I got pelican voyager, paid too much for it but it's all I'll need
+1 on the Incipio DualPro.
I also like, in no particular order, the Vena Tough Armor Wave; Diztronic Voyeur Series; Spigen Tough Armor; and the OtterBox Symmetry Clear Series.

Actually Commuter is a very protective case for your S7. I'm using it too. But you know that there is another series from Otterbox that is more protective but also more bulky than Commuter, that is Defender.
I have an Artech21 Little Rock for my "rugged" case. It's "Military Grade" and whatever other fancy catchphrases you wanna use. But I don't put much stock into those phrases... It's fairly difficult to install/remove. Because of that, the phone won't pop out, even if you were to throw it as hard as you can across the room (that's not to say the phone would survive inside). But the case IS plenty strong. Honestly, my only 2 complaints are that A) the tempered glass is like a half inch more narrow than the screen (but at the time of purchase, not a single tempered glass screen protector covered edge to edge flawlessly (loss of sensitivity, haloing, etc.). And, B) I'm not a big fan of the designs. When other models like the Vivid Arkansas look so damn unique good. The Little Rock just looks super plain. Of the cases I own, the Little Rock is easily the strongest, while the Vivid Arkansas is much thinner, it looks MUCH better. And it still provides plenty of protection itself. And I can't speak for cases I don't own. But the Little Rock is easily the toughest. The Vivid Arkansas looks the best. And while it doesn't provide the hardcore protection of the Little Rock, it has saved my phone on a few drops, one I expected to be bad. But not a scratch

Top 5 OnePlus 5 Cases you can get now!

Hi all,
As most of you know, I've been testing out every case I can get my hands on. It's been more difficult this year, there doesn't seem to be as much choice and companies such as Spigen have really dragged their heels on getting cases out for this community. Here it is, my top 5 cases out at the moment which will do you proud.
1. Orzly Fusion Bumper
This case I've only had for a week or so and it's already risen to the top of my list. It's absolutely my favourite and I'll tell you why:
- Protects the case well.
- Adds extra grip to the phone.
- Combo's well with your favourite skin manufacturer (Xtreme, dBrand, Slick etc..)
Overall it's the best all round case, it's nowhere near as expensive as the official OnePlus stuff and it's my daily driver on the OnePlus 5.
2. Tudia OMNIX
Another latecomer to the party (in fact I've only just published the video on this one) but a fairly decent one. This case is my "if I'm going on a messy night out case."
What I mean by that, is that it provides excellent all round protection without completely compromising the use of the phone (like a flip case) It has a built in screen protector, which if used for longer stretches could get annoying and has port covers which makes the phone better protected against those accidental drops in beer.
3. Orzly Slim Stand Case
I'm rewarding Orzly here because of all the case manufacturers they seem to be the one taking risks on the OnePlus 5. Not only have they changed up their, FlexiCase, Wallet & Fusion designs they've produced an entirely new case for the OnePlus this year with the Slim Stand case.
The Slim Stand case make's it onto the list because it's not a case that I thought I'd like much when I saw it on Amazon. I ordered it, just so I could do a review and then probably stick it back in it's box. However to my surprise I've really enjoyed using this case. It's given me the functionality of a more traditional flip case, without the annoying "flip" element.
It feels really premium in the hand and uses the phones beauty and elegance to it's advantage. It's also a really handy case for those of you still playing Pokemon Go as you can use the stand to rest your finger through when you're out walking!
4. Spigen Rugged Armor
Spigen make it onto the list, even though they're main cases are still slated for release in September. Months after the phone was released! Imagine how much further they'd be up if they'd put some effort in!
Those of you which have had the Rugged Armor in the past know what to expect. It's premium at a reasonable price and it'll do what it says on the packaging, which is add extra grip and impact protection. It help's that it looks pretty nice also!
It can be said that you could probably get the Orzly FlexiCase for a little cheaper if you wanted to save some pennies.
5. OnePlus Silicone Red Case
I initially loved this case, but my love waned the longer I had it on the phone. This is very much a "showpiece" case with little utility, but if you've been racking up those referral points, already purchased the backpack then this would be my next choice. It feels super on the phone, adds some welcome colour- just don't leave it on for too long or it'll start to fade and feel tacky!
Thanks,
Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm trying to take into consideration cost vs effectiveness. At least for me, the Otterbox is far too expensive to make it worth purchasing over any of these cases!
Do you feel the ring on the back of the Orzly Slim Stand Case, prevents you from laying the phone down screen side up because it would make the phone 'uneven'?
I really don't like laying my phone down facedown. Seems counterintuitive in my head if I'm trying to protect the screen from scratches.
Also, does the ring on the back keep the phone from sliding in and out of your pocket smoothly?
^That first point is what stopped me from continuing to use my Spigen Style ring.
