I wanted to root my phone but I wasn't sure if any of the videos on youtube were still relevant, I thought I would ask here first for a way that will 100% work

I have the xt912, do you think it would work anyway? Also this will definitely work with 4.1.2?

I have 2.3.4 Firmware.
This link should help. Since you have 2.3.4 you probably have to downgrade but check in the instructions just to make sure. Follow the instructions very carefully and you should be ok. Good luck http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2

Did you even search at all, or did you just blindly open a new thread?
For rooting use the preinstall method.

Don't worry about versions, as far as I know the preinstall method is pretty much universal.

It would be all over the place here if they did. There was some progress with getting the first core to work but that's been the extent of the news. This probably isn't the right phone for people that need an unlocked bootloader.
