Do you mean by the clipboard method, ie select all, copy, paste? Or via the Copy Properties menu?

The Copy Properties menu.

Custom ringtones after rooting?

Anyone have issues with custom ringtones after rooting?
I had a custom ringtone in the mpga format that was working fine before I rooted. After rooting my phone, applying the lag fix, applying the gps fix, and installing ADW launcher, I can no longer use it as a ringtone.
I can navigate to the file in Astro, but the option to set it as a ringtone is greyed out. Anyone experience this?
Oh, I also clicked on "Fix Permissions" in Rom Manager and it went through the process (I figured it would have a prompt or something), don't know if this has caused it or not, is there a way to reverse whatever it did?
Thanks in advance! I am in Love with XDA and am devouring all the info I can!
I have since tried putting the file in a folder named ringtones in my root sdcard directory and have had no luck getting the file recognized.

I make custom .mp3 ringtones on my laptop then transfer them over to the phone thru Windows Explorer.
1. Connect your phone to the PC via USB
2. On your phone, it should show that USB is connected on the drop down menu...click on it and mount
3. Now open My Computer on your PC and double click to open your internal sdcard (phone memory)
4. There should be a folder called "media." Double click to open that folder and then then double click the folder called "audio"
5. Create a new folder called "ringtones" (for custom ringtones) and another new folder called "notifications" (for custom message tones)
6. Now drag your audio files into the corresponding folders and you should be able to choose your custom ringtones/message tones through the phone settings
There are also apps in the market that enable you to create your own ringtones on the phone using the music in your library (Ringdroid)
Hope this helps
Thank you! That fixed my issue. I just needed to have the ringtone folder in the right directory. Kinda strange it didn't make me do that before the rooting though. Nonetheless, thank you very much for your help!

Siyah kernel...bootlogo??!!?

Hi guys....can any of you tell me please, how i can create the file".nobootlogo" in \sdcard in order to remove siyah kernel's boot logo?
TNX in advance
what rom are you using? and which siyahkernel version are you using?
and what are you refering to as boot logo?
is it the purple eye saying 'siyah ICS' or an actual boot animation...
as for the purple eye i think its there as a delay so people who want to dual boot have time to select thier secondary rom!

it's the last release (rc15).....when the phone starts the purple eye appears, I know i must create a file ".nobootlogo" in sdcard (it's described in the official changelog) but I don't know how create tyis file....
yeah i see what you are talking about from the change log, i think they mean just a blank file, if i am correct is a file with a '.' infront a hidden file? i dont know how to create it,
MAYBE try this, coz /SDCARD is the internal sdcard i think, so create a file with notepad called .nobootlogo (make sure you save type as any*.*) and copy that to the root of your internal sd card
OR make a file called nobootlogo same as above put it in sd card but then use rootexplorer to hide it (if its true about being hidden)
I'll try it MATE....
let me know if it works, ill be interested to know =D good luck
yeah..when I just find some freetime, i'll try..... =)

Thanks for the information. Works great on S2 ICS 4.0.4.
I'm using ES File Explorer.
ES File Explorer > Menu > New > File > create file name as (.nobootlogo)
and save it at internal storage: /sdcard/
NOTE: If you can't see the file, then goto ES File Explorer's Menu > Settings > Display Settings > File Settings > Show hidden files [Tick]
Have a nice weekend. Cheers!

[Q] Can not create a New Folder ~ SOLVED

Guys,
I have found a problem with creating a New Folder.
Tap the menu key and select 'Create Folder'.
This then creates a new folder and asks for a name.
You then name the folder and finish.
However, each and every time you then try to open up the folder it drops back to wanting you to rename the folder.
In other words you simply can not open the newly created folder.
Has anyone else come across this or found a solution?
Nope works fine here

So it works fine for you norpan111
This is now becoming annoying......
EDITED
Sussed it and how so embarrassing..
Once the folder is created you then have to place an item directly into it.
In other words you can not open an empty folder.

File on home screen

Hi,
is it possible to add some files (.pdf, .doc, ...) on home screen? I was only able to add folder, but do not know how to add files to folder for example.
Thanks,
Rok

sorry,does not see
Use ES file explorer.
You can long click on any file and then choose ×´shortcut".
Go back to your homescreen and you'll see the file there.

You can do this in a number of ways. I normally use Root Explorer, or I sometimes use Tasker.
The easiest is to use Root Explorer (other file managers may work the same). Just navigate to a file and long press on it and choose 'Create shortcut' from the context menu. The shortcut is automatically put on your homescreen and you can then add it to a folder (screenshot attached).
Thank you all.
I used ES file exlorer.

I used to have n95 until now and was satisfied with it. Even though performance of s3 is amazing, I find it "little funny" for the price of over 600€ that I have to install few apps to just do "basic stuff" like:
- create shortcut on home screen for a file
- send SMS to more than 10 people at once

Rok

[WhatsApp] Where are the profile images stored?

Root or no root ... Where ?
I found that there is a sub-folder named with 'WhatsApp Profile Photos' in 'Internal Storage - WhatsApp - Media'.
Yes. That is obvious and has no mystery. But there they are not.
/data/data/com.whatsapp/cache/Profile Pictures/ (Root)
it should be in data inside android folder

Thank you! Good information!
I only have one picture in there. Where are the others?
In new version provided method doesn't work. Using Android.
1. No share option at right side top in profile picture
2. No folder in WhatsApp media > profile picture of whatsapp folder
3. No folder of profile in android > data > com.whatsapp...
Please let me know if anyone find any solution
