[Q] Note 2 pre-release version: Firmware/root question - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi there,
I have what I believe is a pre-release (ie. "4g test device) Note 2. It has a serial # stamp on the front top left (and I never received the OTA 4.3 update... i assume my IMEI number was excluded from whatever pool of IMEI's Verizon uses to push updates to). I'm still on what I believe is the stock firmware and I'm finally looking into rooting it and putting a custom ROM on. Unfortunately I'm not well-versed enough to look at the baseband, kernel, and build versions to determine if my phone is truly a stock hardware unit and on the original stock software (in which case I'll just follow the root guides in the Development forum) or if my stuff is somehow different because it is a test device.
Here is what my "About Phone" screen shows:
Model # SCH-I605
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: I605VRAMA4
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-886776
[email protected] #1
SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 24 22:23:50 KST 2013
Build Number: JZ054K.I605VRAMA4
Hardware Version: I605.06
So, based on the above, is my phone the standard Verizon Note 2 hardware and is on the original stock software? I searched pretty extensively but I couldn't find any other thread with this question. If this is out there already I apologize, please link me to it.
Thanks in advance.

Everything matches MI e.

Bought a Galaxy S3 however all text is in Chinese

Hi all,
I bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S3 from the internet, however all text was in Chinese. That itself wasn't a problem as I managed to change to English, however there are still some Chinese letters/words in the Settings menu etc. The Play Store doesn't appear to be the correct store either and it came with tons of free apps, all in Chinese.
What would be the simpliest/easiest way to put a stock or custom UK (or even US) rom on this so its entirely in English?
I've tried googling/youtube but there are many many ways to do it, and all seem complicated or you end up with broken links or files etc.
Many thanks
I have a sneaking suspicion you haven't got a genuine S3 could you post more details or even some pictures with the back removed ?

What tells you that?
Just googled the following
ALPS.ICS2.MP.V1
And it leads the numerous fake i9300 links
You don't have an i9300 I'm afraid. Take a look in the back under the battery cover do you have dual sim slots ?

[Q] Is my I9300 from China fake ?

Just recently bought the I9300 out here in China. Actually it's the 2nd time I've bought this phone (lost it the first time I owned it). Right away I noticed that some of the preinstalled chinese bloatware apps were different than what came preinstalled on the I9300 I previously owned.
Living in China I'm always nervous of something being a fake, even when I buy it from a trusted source. I think it's very possible that the phone has simply changed since the last time I bought it (about a year ago) but I figure it's better to post the specs on here and let someone who knows more about the phones in China decide if my phone is a fake or not.
Model Number: GT-I9300
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: 19300ZCELL1 (I couldn't find any information about this baseband version on any English websites and it's different from the S3 I owned last year)

I think, your device is a Samsung Galaxy S3 Original.
You have the versión GT-i9300_CHN_CHN from China Unicom.
I have the same versión, but i change the stock rom, i made a modified rom from CHINA and Spain, so i can enjoy Play Store, and full Spanish or English Android.
If you still have doubts, Search the App: Genuine Galaxy S4/S3/Note II, this app tell you if your Galaxy is original, using hardware test.
Good Luck

Don't worry, buddy. That's just fine. You may install a new rom such as XXELLA or later.
The baseband ZCELL1 is customed for CHINA UNICOM. That is the ONLY services provider that have WCDMA/HSDPA network.

That's the one-stop thread for your device. Though if you're having this much trouble searching through a forum, finding your device's section, and think that a general development section is where to post these types of questions, then perhaps you shouldn't be performing such delicate procedures on an expensive device.

[Q] How to identify stock bootloader and rom version

I have just received my TF700T back from RMA in Sydney. Problem was failed HDMI port and unusable slowness. Returned to me as warranty ended so I unlocked it. Now I want to install custom recovery and Chromi-X and later (when stable) CM11. However I'm not sure what ROM version and bootloader (both supposedly stock) that I have, whether I need to download and install the latest official ROM first, but the naming used in my tablet info doesn't seem to match any of the download descriptions on the asus website. I have rooted and changed ROM on phone before but thats all, so not very experienced.
From settings /about it says the following:
Android version: 4.2.1
Kernel Version: 3.1.10-g03bdcb1 [email protected] #1 Fri Mar 29 17:04:32 CST 2013
Build Number: JOP40D.WW-epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329
Kernel Version:
3.1.10-g03bdcb1
[email protected] #1
Fri Mar 29 17:04:32 CST 2013
Build Number:
JOP40D.WW-epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329
On the boot screen with the three icons it says: Key driver not found...booting OS. Then: Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00e> released by "ww-epad-10.6.1.14.4-20130329 A03

First of all you are in the wrong forum mate. This is the prime section.
You are on the 4.2.1 bootloader build version 10.6.1.14.4.
It is not the newest version so you can upgrade it to the newest version first if you like.
Also I hear that the maker of Cromi puts in loads of tweaks that either do nothing or he blatantly steals from me and calls his on. Hi Sbdags xxx

[Q] Obi S401 - Rooting ?

Hello XDA!
I would like to root my newly purchased device, an Obi mobile S401 (I believe it's nicknamed Raccoon).
It's a cheap-o device (250 AED, roughly 80$ US), which may account for its near obscurity - so far I've been unable to find anything relevant to rooting this device, whether on Google or by browsing various message boards like this one.
