I'am running on 4.0.4 Chinese leak and I wanna go back to 2.3 Stock, and I just simply can't. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Nothing is working.
1. Dual Wipe
2. Flash 2.3.6 EU
3. Dual Wipe
4. Going to BP Tools - Here phone stuck on Motorola Logo with Costumer Error.
5. I've tried flash only Radio to force flashing GB radio version. Radio flashed on phone screen but after that phone still stucks on Motorola logo with error ( BP tools ofc)
I'm using Fla**** but I noticed that in bat file there's not cdt.bin flash command when I adding it I'm getting error "preflashing validation failur" Maybe this is a problem? What can couse it?
after return to the GB is very heavy, some write that almost impossible

first of all you flash ics china again
root it
then restore mmcblk1p18 by terminal or connectbot ( the codes are available )
then flash your GB rom.
it would work.
I did it once.
This is some idea are you sure it works?
I didn't do it becouse everyone said to flash GB first and after booting up GB root and restore that file. I just don't wanna stuck with nothing but if I switch this files again on chinese leak. That error message should disappear and I can flash GB, but if it disappear and my phone still stuck on "M" Im end up with "M"- brick phone... ehh

This is the correct way. If you have any trouble flashing you'll be able to flash chinese ics and try downgrade as many times as needed.

Flash the 2.3.6 T-Mobile, if there are flash failes, delete the showed lines in the xml until the flash is finished. Then install the german ICS leak with moto recovery, then you should get a full working system without root, but better than brick. And be patient a few days to the release of the official ICS, we should get fastboot files, and maybe we will get a new root method tomorrow...

Yes it worked for me, but I don't reffer to do it becouse it could be only luck. I flashed tmobile GB with Fla**** I rewrote all command. I personally think that deleting storage data command helped to boot up GB becouse when I flashed other roms without it phone never flash radio right after flashing.

these are the steps I've had followed
1. flash gb from your region
2. root with motofail if the 2.3.6 or zergbrush if 2.3.5
3. restore the p18 file
Code:
adb shell
su
cat /sdcard-ext/mmcblk1p18-go > /dev/block/mmcblk1p18
4. flash gb again
hint1:
1. you'll have to boot under bp tools 'till step 4.
2. rooting is hard becouse you've to reboot it several times and must enter via bp tools. I just forced starting bp tools by holding both vol buttons during the process.
Cheers
I restored my mmcblk1p18 before downgrade but would only advise this if you have sufficient battery or factory cable.

The best experience will be to flash Romracer's recovery through fastboot. If you are unlocked and follow the instructions, you should not have a problem.

Taken from tayshun12's great guide here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423 .
My suggestion is in red. If you are already correcting the name then sorry and good luck.
Proper Recovery:
1. After your bootloader unlocked go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
2. Scroll down to where it says "ALL USERS" and download your favourite colour. (NOT THE ZIP VERSION) Rename the file to recovery-atrix5.img instead of recovery-some-color-atrix5Place it in the motounlock folder that you have on your desktop.
3. Press the windows key + R on your computer, type cmd and press enter
4. A Command prompt will open. type cd C:\users\YOURNAME\desktop\motounlock press 'enter'
5. type "fastboot devices" Press Enter.
5b. type "fastboot erase recovery" Press Enter.
5c. type "fastboot flash recovery recovery-atrix5.img" Press Enter. Be certain that you have renamed the file to recovery-atrix5.img instead of recovery-some-color-atrix5
Wait for the command prompt to say : "writing 'recovery'... OKAY ['The amount of seconds it took here']"
5d.type "fastboot reboot"
DO NOT FORGET TO DO THIS PART: After the install of RomRacers recovery boot up your phone. Open up your favourite file browser (I used Astro file manager to do this ) and navigate to /system/etc/ and delete the file called 'install-recovery.sh'
You will be set 100% !

problem flashing recovery
I had a similar problem flashing recovery with fastboot method. It would flash the recovery successfully in seconds, but it would not load recovery properly. It didn't matter if i tried to enter it from key combination or Rom Manager the phone would just load the recovery image and not the recovery options.
I was somewhat successful with the procedure found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1302423 sticky by Tayshun12. flashed latest clockwork mod touch recovery 5.8.1.8 by following procedure at the end of the first post. Delete install-recovery.sh from both locations,(don't forget to backup file first) it is the same file in both locations. Install Rom Manager from Google play after removing files. Flashed touch recovery with the option in rom manager (paid versions of rom manager and touch through play store) after that the recovery works perfectly. I didn't mind having to pay for them to work properly. Good luck, pm me if you need to and I will try to help.

It should have taken only seconds to install. In the command you have to type the name of the recovery your installing. I personally use touch recovery on the atrix. But you have to check the name of the file, it has to be the same name as your command. I suggest you read the instructions carefully again, there should not be any problems.

Here is a little script I put together to fastboot L9s with ability to flash/restore ics xloader and uboot (p760, p765, p768, p769) jb (p760)
*I've only tested it on Win 7, but it should work on Vista , not sure about XP and 8
Very useful post about installing the drivers
*Some phones may need a different timing, 4 seconds won't work, worth to try between 0 to 4s and see what works best
Original thread about fastboot

update: file updated, mylk Thanks for catching the mistake!
update2: added p769 20f
Thanks, I'll try this out once I'm home, maybe my phone will finally let me fastboot. Whenever I've tried before, it just normally reboots, doesn't switch to fastboot mode.

#1 is just a general fastboot, you can put whatever (boot.img, recovery.img, etc) you want to flash via fastboot in "yours" folder - type: fastboot devices and you'll see if your phone is recognized
and the rest is mainly for recovery, ics xloaders and uboots work nicely with offline flashing method also several people mistakenly soft bricked their phones with omap4boot by flashing prada files which can't happen with this tool
For me general fastboot works on ArchLinux. But I only put recovery with it...

Hi there, its been a while since I tried fastboot again, but I have good news. Fastboot worked on my P768 using this method, I selected option 1. Then I was able to send recovery to my phone and then root the phone using a flashable SuperSU zip! 'adb reboot recovery' takes me straight into CWM!
I have some questions though.
Is fastboot permanently on the phone like it is on the P760 now? or do I have to use this program each time to send fastboot commands?
Does this mean that I could potentially flash a custom rom to my phone now? I know all the custom roms out there are not for the P768, so I will get camera problems. But is this the missing piece of the puzzle for custom rom development/testing?
Thank you lelus for this great tool!

Fastboot is definitely there but something doesn't get passed along during adb reboot bootloader or oem-unlock and phone just reboots instead of booting to fastboot.

Sounds like you made a serious error and didn't do any research before proceeding. Did you install the LG drivers prior to doing anything with the phone? If not, you have just bricked your device. L9RecoveryInstaller.apk is the ONLY way at the moment to successfully install CWM on the P769 if the bootloader is locked. I don't have all the answers myself as I'm fairly new to this device, P769, myself. There may be someone here with a little more insight as to how to fix your issue, but if you didn't install LGs drivers beforehand, I'd say your device is bricked. Sorry.
You'll need to use fastboot to flash ICS u and x. Then go into upgrade mode by holding volume up and plugging the phone to the computer. Upgrade mode should pop up and you're ready to flash any kdz using the offline flash method.

L9 P769 is a much different creature than the other P76X variants. CWM CANNOT be installed on the recovery partition unless the bootloader is unlocked. There are very few people here who have managed to unlock the bootloader on this device ( P769 ). Any attempt to modify the bootloader, boot partition, or recovery ends in "LG Security Error". As per my previous post, the only way to get CWM on this device with a locked bootloader is with the L9RecoveryInstaller.apk.

Do you have busybox installed and or do you have multiple copies of busybox installed?
If you don't have busybox, install it from the Play Store. Make sure it installs to /system/xbin.
If you have multiple copies, which I did when I had this error, use the busybox installer to uninstall all copies of busybox and then use the installer to reinstall busybox to /system/xbin.
You may need to run L9RecoveryInstaller again. It will say there is a recovery installed just reinstall anyway.
Reboot and try again.

Cm11 is available, yes some people can unlock the bootloader. Theres a few threads about removing tmobile bloatware, along with solutions to the other questions I answered. Simply search your question and you'll find a solution. THEN if you can't find the solution by searching make a thread to ask about it. Goodluck if you try unlocking the bootloader, its quite a journey!! If you can't unlock it or the process scares you out of trying search Kuma ROM. Goodluck!

Hi, I'm in a similar boat as the OP, successfully rooted the device but didn't realise I needed an unlocked bootloader to flash a recovery. Now I get Security Error.
Now, I keep seeing "ICS x and u" on this forum, and have no idea what it is. Yet people keep saying it like it's obvious.
Is this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44144663
If so, obviously I can't follow the steps because my phone won't boot up past the splash screen. And said phone isn't recognized by ADB at the moment, because I can only figure out how to boot it into S/W update mode.
Currently I can't even use the L9RecoveryInstaller.apk, because, again, can't boot up. Help?

Help?

You'll need to use fastboot to flash the x and u images. They are included with the tools. Search the General section.

Or simply unbrick using the lgupdate tool. Why not go the easy way?

C this doesn't work. It gets stuck at 4 percent during the sw upgrade process.:crying:
Hi to all Razr users here! I know some of you have seen me that posts alot of questions and asking for a help on different forums and threads here in Motorola Razr world and now it's my time to give a contribution on how to fix a Moto Razr from being fully bricked with an error of 'CID error' or '0X0056' error. (YAY! JUST FIXED MINE A WHILE AGO!)
Scenario:
-My device is in stock 2.3.5 Gingerbread firmware.
-I've tried to flash a JB 4.1.2 firmware on my device via RSD lite v6.x
-My device got stuck and won't boot and got the '0X0056' error causing to not get past the Motorola logo.
Instructions on how to fix:
-In my own experience, you don't need to have a backup of your CID because it is not needed on the flashing stages.
-Make sure your device is still alive and has still juice to power the battery on.
-Download a firmware of your choice http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=10 (I've downloaded the fifth one *Fido Canada*)
-Extract the .xml file inside the firmware, open with notepad++ and delete the line where 'CDT.bin' exists then put it back to the firmware .zip
-Extract also the 'allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin' file.
-Make a .bat file using notepad and write this fastboot commands:
Code:
echo off
pause
fastboot erase cid.img
fastboot flash mbm allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin
fastboot erase userdata
fastboot reboot-bootloader
pause
echo on
(Make sure you have the latest fastboot files from Android SDK tools and have 'allow-mbmloader-flashing-mbm.bin' file within it, these stuff must be in the same folder)
-Connect your device and boot in AP fastboot then ran the command.
Note: I've ran this without any 'ERROR' code which prevents the files from wrtiting.
-Just stay connected with the device.
-Use the RSD lite and use the firmware you downloaded.
-Now click start.
-When you saw the device being shown with 'CID error' DO NOT DISCONNECT THE DEVICE, JUST LET IT GO ERRORING ITSELF.
-Wait for at least 30 seconds, after that the device will shutdown then it will boot again and you will see an Android is somewhat upgrading stuff. (YAY! this is the progress I've ****ted all the way off!)
-Press power button, volume down and up simultaneously and boot with BP tools.
-Wait and you'll see your device is reviving and booting again!
Note: To prevent the annoying 'CID error', someone said we must install BMM or SS recovery in order to get past and avoid that error whenever we reboot our device.
That's all! Happy fixing! Hope it helped you!

Remove that bootlogo & boot your device without BP tools you can do this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2406867 .It removes CID err on bootlogo & you can boot normally. But if your bootlogo will be changed error will appear again. So you'll need to flash fix everytime your bootlogo changes...

A little addition to this guide based on personal experience:
I did this in several firmwares trying to unbrick my device but after CDT.bin deletion, RSD Lite won't start the flashing process followed by the message sayng that "some files are missing from original package" and "please add/replace them" or "try another package" etc etc
In that case, the ONLY thing that can help you unbrick your device is CID deletion via fastboot, letting you flash any firmware you want (the question is, however, which of them will actually boot after completing the flashing process without errors.
I tried several firmwares, actually all GSM versions and the only one that booted was Taiwanese stock retail ICS. After that, I upgraded stock FW to JB 4.1.2, again trying several FWs and this time the only one that booted was stock retail JB 4.1.2 for United Kingdom (?!). But, this doesn't matter much as long as you can unbrick your device, boot the stock, root it and install custom recovery and after that the choice is yours. My device was bricked the worst possible way (erased boot, system, data, recovery partitions and tables, all gone except fastboot, with a dying and unchargeable battery. So, I made the "factory cable" myself and started from scratch. After a fair amount of trouble, I did it, what you can see from my signature.
Anyway, deleting CID is no big thing, and trust me, you won't be missing it at all. If that's the price for making your device work again just go ahead, I think it's worth it.
Make backup of CID...
Does anyone tried that method, to make backup your CID?
If your XT910S/K soft bricked why not to try by flashing XT910 2.3.6 system.img? It should boot to Retail XT910 2.3.6 with XT910S/K kernel.
If you get boot you can try rooting it & backup CID with Terminal Emulator. When erase it...
Still... with ics(jb) you'll need be with erased CID, but having backup never hurts... I just wanna to help people save unique CID.

Will add a note on that, whatever happens a backup of CID is really needed if ever something happens badly And yup, I made a backup
I just wanted to be on stock ICS Im fine with that. THANKS! Sorry for the broken grammar.

I agree that you should have CID backup, but I really had no choice but to delete it, there was no other way to unbrick it. And if you were on ICS, you cannot downgrade to Gingerbread, you can only flash ICS or JB.

If you on ICS you should also boot with Retail XT910 ICS system.img because your kernel will be still ICS XT910s..

As for me, I don't think that CID would be worth saving, since this device was bought in South Korea, then shipped to Australia and from there shipped to me here in Serbia So, since I couldn't rely much on customer support or service, I decided to delete CID in order to unbrick the Razr. Of course, if there's a chance to save your CID you should certainly do it but for me, CID doesn't mean much in these circumstances.

thanks @JovieBrett
but what special this guide do compare to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43806194&nocache=1
we still need to install BMM/SS to pas that customer id screen..otherwise it will give black screen after that CID screen
I took the phone to ap fastboot
flash the .bat file you told about (echo off etc)
flashed firmware with rsdlite
it gave cid error. then android logo with loading (i think thats what you said android is updating)
then I ran with bp tools and it reached OS
if I restart it give black screen after CID unless boot with bp tools

Yep unfortunately that's the problem right now. It can only boot with 'bp tools' option. The only thing you can normally boot it is to install a BMM or SS recovery so that it can bypass through booting the CID error without encountering the black screen. As of now, I don't have the required stuff to fix it and don't have the knowledge to find what's behind that problem. The device (Motorola Razr) is not mine, I just fixed it for my friend. I think we can only live with the recovery installed because without it, it's impossible to boot the device normally without CID.
Take note, booting with BP tools is like booting in safe mode, it does not save any progress you made after you customize some stuff on the main screen itself.
I clear your doubt.. It does save i tried with several power offs and restarts
